The next day was surprisingly warmer outdoors. So, a lot of people found it more comfortable to do more activites. But on a day like today people are more interested and participating in the snowboarding competition. It was going to be a long day for every participants as they work hard to compete against one another. But Max, on the other hand looks at the scenario differently. He sees it as a mission, more than anything else. He is now determined to help with the investigation the best way he can. The process of snowboarding though, mighty need some work. Luckily Kebo was there to help with the skill.

"Since when did my nephew decide to become a detective again?" asked Kelbo rhetorically, as he, Max, and Ruben got off the ski lift.

"Since Veronica Mars slipped under the radar," said Max, adjusting his new weird looking skateboard. "Where did you get this board anyway."

"C'mon," scoffed Kelbo. "You know I made it all by myself. I just hope it works really well."

"Wait," said Ruben. "You haven't tested it out yet before you gave it to him."

"No, no," said Kelbo, quickly. "I saved all of that for Max."

"Yeah so that everybody in the competition can laugh their butts as I break all of my limbs on the hard snow bank," said Max.

"Oh, nothing's gonna happen to you," said Kelbo. "I promise. I got the remote control and everything to hook it up."

"I'm eager to see that remote to like you know...like explode in your hand," jokes Ruben. "That way you could get one of those magical robotic wizard arms."

"Okay seriously, the two of you are not helping right now," Max chuckles nervously. "I now currently feel the urge to puke up my continental breakfast."

"I could whip you up some wizard soup in anout five seconds," states Kelbo.

"Well, would you look at that, I feel better already," said Max, with a cunning smile, to Kelbo's fake dismay.

"Yeah, you don't want wizard puke on top of the breakfast puke," said Ruben. "Cause then I puke, and anybody don't have time for that, know what I mean?

"Wow, you all are some ungrateful kids," Kelbo pretend to scoff. "Came all this way to help you guys and this is the thanks I get? Oh the shade."

"Okay, look now is not the time to go diva on us," said Max. "Us gentlemen has some work to do."

"And speaking of work," said Ruben, pointing behind Max and Kelbo.

The three of them stared off into the distance to see that the main suspect has arrived. But this time something has change.

"Wait, so he competing too?" asked Max.

"Looks like he is," said Ruben. "And that's even better.

"We're just going to take him down sooner than we excpect," said Max.

"Hopefully," said Ruben. "All we have to do is to have a big miracle. And a little bit of pixie dust."

"Yeah, I know how you feel about that pixie dust," said Kelbo. "But unfortunately the kid's magic is severely limited."

"Wizard Council rules," said Ruben, with sarcasm. "What a well rounded community."

"Yeah, I'm afraid so," said Kelbo.

"It's all good," said Max. "With or without magic, he's still going down."

"Looks like you're taking this transition well," said Kelbo.

"I really am," said Max. "Now I'm just live my life as a regular human being, who might have a bit of lady luck on the side."

"He's been seeing this chick named Gilda," said Ruben. "She's really cool."

"Really?" said Kelbo. "He hasn't told me that."

Max face turned bright red as they stared at him.

"Oh man, I got to put this one twitter," said Kelbo as he takes his iphone out and pretends to text.

Max playfully pushes kelbo backwards as they all laugh.

A few minutes later the competition is about to complete and Max took his place by the start line and Ruben and Kelbo took their place next to the audience right next to Rosie. Ruben drops something on the ground and picks it up accidentally bumping into her.

"Oh, my bad ma'am," said Ruben. "I guess I'm a little clumsy."

"Oh, don't worry about it," said Rosie. "It happens all the time."

Ruben smiles at her, then turns to Kelbo.

"Hey, is the Sherrif here yet?" Ruben asked.

"He's five minutes away," said Kelbo. "He's also bringing back up to."

"Just in case he resists arrest," said Ruben. "I like that, everything's in motion."

Ruben didn't know that Rosie was listening to their conversation. She had a big serious look on her face.

Then they saw Gilda heading in their direction. With her, she had two younger twin boys about ten years old and one little girl who was about six.

"Hey looks like someone else enjoys the competition as well," said Ruben, as Gilda comes up to greet them.

"I sure do," said Gilda, with a big smile.

"Kelbo, this is Gilda Suarez," said Ruben. "This is the girl that Max was hanging out with."

"And I got to say, he sure has good taste," said Kelbo. "How do you do."

"And since Max arrived on this lovely resort three days ago, he currently fathers three beautiful children," Jokes Ruben as he looks at the kids.

"Oh, where are my manners," said Gilda as she guides the kids in front of her. "These are my younger siblings, twins Sal and Pablo, and my little sister Juanita.

Her siblings smiles at them with shyness.

Then the little girl rushes past them and goes to Rosie's side and hugs her around her waist. Both Ruben and Kelbo exchange looks. Rosie's chuckles nervously.

"I guess she was missing her real mother," said Kelbo.

"Well, you're certainly right," said Rosie, as she smiles at Gilda.

"Um...My mom decided to come spend some time with me," said Gilda. "And to watch the competition."

"Oh, that's nice," said Ruben smiling at Rosie. "I'm Ruben, by the way."

"I'm Rosie," she stated clearly shaking his hand. "Pleasure to meet you."

Then all of a sudden Ruben's eyes widens as he looks into Rosie's eyes, and quickly looks at Gilda. All this time the two of them were mother and daughter. Gilda was somehow covering up for them. Ruben was shocked but he kept his composure. Rosie can also sense something as well and puts two and two together.

"Yeah," said Ruben. "Same to you."

Rosie nodds slowly at him as Gilda as the others watched.

"Wow, you really have beautiful children, Rosie," said Kelbo trying to break the building tension. "Me and my wife are expecting in the spring. And I sure hope that he or she turn out just as wonderful."

"I'm sure they will," said Rosie, with a fake smile. Then she turns back with Ruben.

Both Ruben and Rosie take each others expression in like in a intense moment on a soap opera.

"I heard is going to be a damn good competition today," said Ruben, breaking off his long gaze."

"Yeah," said Rosie, with sarcasm. "On and off the slopes."

Ruben nodds his head slowly.

Gilda who can see the tension rising, tries her best to ease it a bit.

"Hey there's a couple of seats at the front row," Gilda said pushing her siblings along. "I'm going to get them settled."

"I'll be down there in a minute, hun," said Rosie.

When Gilda and the kids got at a farther distance from them, Rosie huddled closer to them.

"You're working with him aren't you," snapped Rosie quietly.

"Working with whom?" asked Ruben, clearly.

"Don't play dumb with me!" spat Rosie. "I know you are working with that Russo kid, the both of you are!"

"Ah...I think you got us mixed up with someone other people," said Kelbo quickly. "It's funny how everybody in up state New York looks a like-."

"She's not buying it, dude," Ruben cuts him off. "Yes, I'm a good friend of Max, and this is his uncle."

"Which I'm young enough to be his brother," said Kelbo. "Just saying."

"Look the last thing we want is to make trouble for you," assured Ruben. "it just seems that this guy-."

"Listen, all of you got this all wrong," said Rosie. "My husband didn't do the crime."

Then Ruben took a quickly glance toward Gilda at a distance as she stares back with a worried expression.

Ruben shakes his head.

"He's innocent I tell you," said Rosie, almost desperate. "He's a very nice guy he wouldn't even hurt a fly."

"Oh is that so?" said Ruben boldly.

"Yeah it is so!" said Rosie. "And I'm warning you guys right now to not embarrass yourselves."

"Was your husband on this resort on the night of the shooting?" asked Ruben, looking again in Rosie's eyes.

Rosie sighed as she briefly looks at the sky.

"Yes," she said, as Kelbo shakes his head. "But it's not what you think."

"Oh," said Ruben, taking it all in. "Well, do elaborate."

Rosie hesitated for the moment as she studied Ruben and Kelbo more carefully. Then looks over at Gilda with a worried expression.

"Okay, fine," said Rosie. "I will tell you what you need to know. But please just let him be please."

"Oh, and your daughter Gilda," said Ruben. "Got some explaining to do as well."

"No, no," Rosie goes on. "Don't please...it's not her fault, I kind of told her to lie about everything just so she could go with the flow of things."

"I see," said Ruben.

Max was walking out of the ski lodge from using the bathroom slowly carrying his fancy board, when he saw the pre delinquent guy coming towards his way. Then all of a sudden both of them stopped in their tracks as they locked eyes about five yards apart. Once again Max felt a chill go up his spine. The guy gave him a big scowl. Max's heart started to pound rapidly, but he didn't care. He couldn't let the guy get away again.

"You again!" spat the guy.

"Yeah," said Max. "That's right...it's me. I'm the one you want."

"Nah holmes," said the guy. "You're the one that I'm trying to get rid off."

"You're not going to get away with this," said Max. "I know what you did."

"What I did?" said the guy. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"I'm referring to the shooting," said Max. "You matched the description of what Paul's wife said about who shot him...I-I know it is you. And you were thinking about killing me as well...Back at the restaurant in the bathroom."

"What?" said the guy, looking at Max like he was ridiculous.

"You wanted to kill me so I wouldn't go to the police to say anything," said Max, his voice shaking.

The stood there and stares at Max as if he was searching for something on his body. He then shakes his head.

"You really going to believe what that lady said about that shooting?" asked the guy. "I mean yuppie white folks like her can twist some things around."

"What are you talking about?" asked Max, suddenly bewildered.

"Well," said the guy with a snort. "I guess the old Max Russo is always naive afterall. It's no wonder you don't make a good wizard."

Max looked stunned as he is caught off guard.

"How do you know my name?" asked Max, cautiously. "And how do you know about my past?"

A smile crept across the guys face.

"Oh I know a lot about you Max," said the guy. "More than you imagine holmes."

"Okay, now I'm a little creeped out," said Max still caught off guard.

The guy makes a big sigh as a sign that he doesn't no longer want to fight with him. Max then finds himself calming down from the adrenaline.

"Alright, I might as well introduce myself," the guy said.

Then all of a sudden, rays of what it looked like to be magic appeared from out of his hands as he covers his face and torso. Then there was a glow that changed his looks and his outfit which looks like a wizard uniform. Then a wizard badge appeared on his belt. Max can't believe his eyes; his uni brow now looked faded, and his hair has a little gray in it and was now tied into a ponytail. His beard was now shaved showing a dimple on his chin as he gives Max a little smirk.

"Oh my God," said Max, in awe. "You're Alejandro Pena! The head chief of the wizard police force!"

"Having second thoughts about you're first impression?" asked Alejandro after he floats in front of Max.

"Wow," said Max, who was now amazed. "I um...guess I do."

Hmm," said Alejandro, nodding his head.

"Well...maybe an apology," Max said with some thought. "But how come you're linked to this investigation. You know the Lechmeres are mortal right?"

"Wrong," said Alejandro. "Only Paul Lechmere is a mortal, that witch Megan is a wizard."

"Megan?" Max asked. "But she seems so nice."

"Yeah, but looks can be decieving," said Alejandro. "At least on the outside."

"Well, if she is behind the whole thing then she deserves an Oscar," said Max, with a chuckle. "So, you still know what happened the other night?"

"Of course Sherlock," said Alejandro, folding his arms. "And trust me it's a lot different than what you're scenario was."

"Oh is that so?" asked Max. "Well, aren't you going to tell me?"

"Look, don't take this personal kid," Alejandro places a hand on Max's shoulder. "But this investigation is not for a rookie like you."

"I'd figured you said that," said Max. "Is that time to put those skills of yours to good use huh?"

"Yep," said Alejandro, briskly. "But I have to act fast before everyone finds out about-."

"Mr. Russo."

Both Max and Alejandro turned around to see that the Sherrif was rushing toward them. Alejandro steps back a little bit.

"Um...hi," said Max.

"I see you found the suspect," said Sherrif. "Well, I got to tell you. You look a little bit older than I imagined you to be."

Actually, we might be wrong about that," said Max. "See, we did a little talking and-."

"Yeah, I don't think he's buying the story kid," said Alejandro.

"Besides, he matches the description on what the man's wife has said," said Sherrif. "So, why don't you be a sport and come down to the station with us, would."

"No can do sir," said Alejandro, quickly. "Not today, I got stuff to do you know."

"Oh, I insist!" said the Sherrif, with a hint of hostility. "We don't want you to get hurt now do we?"

"Look, holmes I don't want any trouble," said Alejandro, about to sound angry. "I'm not the guy that you are looking for."

Max nervously looks at both of the guys.

"You might want to make a brief exit Russo," said the Sherrif. "I got it from here."

"I'm sure that this is a huge misunderstanding," said Max. "We should all just calm down and talk about this like civil-."

"There's nothing to talk about," said Alejandro, more harshly. "Either he gets out my way or he facing the consequences."

Then the Sherrif quickly pulled out his gun and aims it directly at Alejandro. Max was shocked.

"Sir, I want those hands up so I can see them," said the Sherrif.

"Woa, hey man take it easy," said Max, frantically.

"This no longer concerns you, Russo," said the Sherrif. "Just walk away."

Max looked at the Sherrif blankly but did not budge. He knew what he had to do.

"Sorry sir, but I can't do that," said Max. "I now believe that this man is innocent."

The Sherrif's eyes widened as Max stood more condidently. Then his eyes narrowed quickly.

"Oh so now you are on his side?" asked the Sherrif snidely. "I see...Now I might have to make two arrests."

"What?!" Max exclaimed in outburst. "You can't do that!"

"Oh, yes I can," said the Sherrif. "And you really don't know what I'm capable of. And it would be sad to see you behind bars for desobeying the Sherrif's orders."

"Look I'm trying to do the right thing here," said Max. "And you're really starting to push my buttons."

"Then you need to know your place there boy," said the Sherrif more smugly.

"My place?!" said Max, getting angry.

"Yeah," said the Sherrif with attitude. "A naive little kid like you better do what society tell you to do!"

"Now wait a minute!" exclaimed Max. "You're just gonna sit there and have the gal to talk to me like I'm some five year old. You know what, you're nothing but a-."

Just as Max whips his hand towards the Sherrif, electric rays suddenly shot out of Max's hand and smashes into the Sherrif causing him to fly backward a few feet and crashed into the snow bank. Max's eyes widened as he looks at his hands and turns to Alejandro, who looks back at him with mixed emotion.

"Woa," said Alejandro. "That's a lot of compressed power holmes."

The Sherrif moaned as he tries to sit back up. His hat flew off and snow was in his face. Max could see the wild look on his face.

"What the heck did I just do," said Max, to himself as he looks back at his hand again.
