We all stood in front of the King of Omashu feeling uneasy and nervous.

The guard behind us reported to the elderly king what had happened, "Your majesty, these juveniles were arrested for vandalism, traveling under false pretenses, and malicious destruction of cabbages." I almost laughed at the charges, but forced myself to be taken seriously, I mean, the destruction of cabbages...really?

The cabbage merchant added his input on the matter, "Off with their heads! One for each head of cabbage!"

I winced, that couldn't happen. We're just kids after all...right? "Silence! Only the king can pass down judgment. What is your judgment, sire?" The guard sternly asked the King. Let's just hope the King has good judgment. The king squinted his eyes at each of us and gave a small grunt.

Sokka, whimpering in fear, Katara, smiling innocently, Aang, not paying any attention to anything whatsoever, and me, which I probably just looked nervous and guilty. The king raised his hand, "Throw them…." We all gasped in horror, "...A feast!"

Huh? Even the guard seemed shocked by the King's final verdict. Whilst the merchant merely grabbed his head with his hands in complete dismay. Sokka was smiling, and Katara looked just as questionable as I did, even Aang arched his eyebrows in complete wonder.

We were led by the same guard to a richly-filled dining table, full of all sorts of different dishes and teapots. It all smelled so wondrous. Momo immediately dived in, eating a lot of food, almost as much as Sokka.

The King joined us, and said some small talk with Aang. Who looked just plain awkward as he was offered some chicken from the king himself. "Thanks. But I don't eat meat." Aang declined the offer.

The King of Omashu turned to Sokka, "How about you? I bet you like meat." The king proceeded to shove the chicken in Sokka's mouth, who ate it appreciatively with no objections.

Katara muttered something about the Kings crown being a little crooked to Aang, I sighed. "So tell me, young bald one, where are you from?" The king addressed Aang casually.

"I'm from...Kangaroo Island!" Aang blurted the only thing he could think of on instinct.

The king chuckled, "Oh, Kangaroo Island, eh? I hear that place is really hopping!" We all stared in silence as the King of Omashu's terrible pun, clearly which was intended.

Sokka, however, burst out laughing as though this was the funniest joke he had ever heard. Katara coughed loudly, gaining Sokka's attention, "What? It was pretty funny." Sokka continued to laugh unsurely.

"Well, all these good jokes are making me tired. Guess it's time to hit the hay." The King yawned. Suddenly the King threw another drumstick at Aang, who, on instinct, used his airbending to halt it from hitting his face in shock.

"Shoot." I muttered, there goes our cover. But before we could explain ourselves the King exclaimed, "There's an airbender in our presence and not just any airbender, the Avatar!" He stood up as Aang dropped the drumstick hanging in mid air. "Now what do you have to say for yourself, Mr. Pipinpadaloxicopolis?"

Aang stood up proud, arms up in a sign of defeat, "Okay! You caught me. I'm the Avatar, doing my Avatar thing, keeping the world safe. Everything checks out." Aang dramatically looked under the table, "No firebenders here. So, good work everybody." He gestured towards the three of us. "Love each other, respect all life and don't run with your spears. We'll see you next time!"

The four of us started to back towards the door, but the guards stopped us, ushering us back to the King.

"You can't keep us here!" Katara argued nervously.

"Yeah!' I agreed, "Let us leave."

"Lettuce leaf?" The king offered picking up a lettuce leaf from the plate in front of him and taking a bite. Sokka spoke to the rest of us lowly, we were in a huddle, we had to get out of here! "We're in serious trouble. This guy is nuts." We nodded, no argument there.

"Tomorrow the Avatar will face three deadly challenges. But for now, the guards will show you to your chamber."

The three of us looked at Aang worriedly, taking note at the King's words deadly challenges. He couldn't possibly be ready.

The guard addressed the king, "My liege, do you mean the good chamber, or the bad chamber?" "The newly refurbished chamber." The king answered as though it was obvious. "Wait, which one are we talking about?" The guard was still confused. I watched the dispute in amusement. "The one that used to be the bad chamber, until the recent refurbishment that is. Of course we've been call it the new chamber, but we really should number them. Uh, take them to the refurbished chamber that was once bad!" The King declared.

Yeah, the King sure knows what he's doing. The guards led us out, the King still eating lettuce. At the end of a hallway, a wall is torn open by the guard's earthbending. Thre four of us are thrust in and the "door" is closed by earthbender as well. The chamber really is refurbished, it' spacious and even had four begs for us.

"This is a prison cell? But its so nice." Katara observed. "He did say it was newly refurbished." Aang agreed. "He also said it was once bad." I countered.

"Nice or not, we're still prisoners." Sokka sighed.

"I wonder what these challenges are gonna be." Aang wondered. Deadly is what the king said they were gonna be, I held my breath.

"We're not sticking around to find out. There's gotta be some way outta here." Katara muttered, looking around the chamber.

"Aang...you're the avatar right, master of all four elements? Use your earthbending like the guard did to open the cell door and get us out." I said, it was the only logical way to get out.

"Oh..about that." Aang scratched the back of his head. "I only know airbending." "What?!" I asked in shock.

"Oh right. We didn't fully explain to you." Katara nodded. "That's why we are on the way to the Northern water tribe, so Aang and I can master waterbending. After we plan to travel to learn earthbending."

"Ohhhh." I nodded, it seemed so obvious now that I think about it. wait a minute…"What about firebending?"

"Well we haven't really thought about it…" Sokka muttered.

"We'll figure it out later." Aang nodded as though he knew it would work out in the end.

I nodded, not bothering to question Aang farther. "Right, so we need to find an exit." Suddenly Aang's eyes brightened and pointed, "The air vents!"

"If you think we're gonna fit through there then you're crazier than that king." Sokka contradicted Aang's idea.

We observed the air vent closer, "We can't, but Momo can." The four of us stared at Momo, currently relaxing on one of the beds, eating an apple lazily. "Momo, I need you to find Appa and bust us outta here!" The said animal perked his ears at us as if confused. Aang grabbed him and began to stuff the animal into the vent.

"Go on boy, Get Appa!" Aang encouraged.

"I don't think that even Momo can fit…" I winced, as Momo seemed to be stuck, the rest of him dangling from the vent.

"Eh, how was Appa supposedly to save us anyway?" Sokka muttered. It was true. "Appa is a ten ton flying bison, I think he could figure something out." Aang defended his idea.

"Well, no point in arguing about it now." Katara went to one of the begs, sitting down. "Get some rest, Aang. Looks like you'll need it for tomorrow."

Aang sighed dejectedly, getting into one of the beds. Sokka and I followed soon after.

One by one, we each fell into a deep sleep.

Zuko couldn't sleep.

Now laying in his corridors, he closed his eyes for a brief second, trying to relax.

After barking orders, his ship was now going in the direction the Avatar's sky bison was last seen. If they were right, it seemed they were headed somewhere in the Earth kingdom. It had been a long day, but undoubtedly worth his time.

Zuko smiled, soon, he would regain his honor, and earn the respect he deserved from the Fire Nation. He wanted his father to be proud of him, once more.

He frowned for a moment, putting his hand over the scar on the left side of his face, what could have gone through father's mind when he did this to him?

Muttering to himself, he got up to speak to Kami. Now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen her since they left Kyoshi Island. 'Strange' He thought as he knocked on the door to her room. 'No answer...'

"Kami?" He called out, still no answer. Zuko knew something wasn't right as he tried to open the door and it opened without having to pick the lock.

No one was there.

Maybe she was with Iroh, it wasn't unusual for them to stay up late and drink tea and play Pai Sho. Feeling satisfied with his reasoning, Zuko went back to bed.
