Ch. 11 - Halloween Tradition

Only a few short weeks have passed since Danny received his punishment. He made sure to show Frostbite how he'd learned his lesson and that he would stay away from the edge of the FarFrozen until he is more skilled to defend himself. He's been having combat practice with Polar every other day. It was the end of one of these practices that we find the little halfa now.

"Good form Danny!" Polar said as the little boy was able to block his ice staff with his own. Polar then moved it off quickly and slid it under the halfa's feet. "But you need to be aware of your footing. Your footing will be the heart of your defense. If you lose it then your opponent can knock you down and your block will crumble."

Danny got up and out of the snow. "But what if I'm flying? Then they can't knock me down right?"

Polar raised a brow. "Why don't you try it then?"

Danny nodded and floated up with his guard readied. Once Polar saw he was in position he swung from the side and Danny blocked. Unfortunately Danny was also thrown a few feet and into the snow. He lifted his head and shook off the snow before turning to Polar in a bit of anger. "Hey! That was way harder than before!"

Polar shook his head. "No it wasn't Danny. Because you were in the air, you didn't get the support that the ground offered. You were then left with far less strength to counter me. A good stance is for reinforcement. If you wish to fight in the air, it requires far more practice and concentration."

Danny stood and shook the snow off. "I'm gonna fight in the air!"

Polar gave him a smile and a laugh followed. "One thing at a time Danny. Let us master fighting from the ground first." He then pat the boy on the back. "I think that's enough for today don't you?"

Danny placed his staff against a wall. "Okay. You're gonna help me make a Pumpkin later though right?" Danny asked with a smile.

Polar returned the smile. "I don't know, I'm pretty sure Frostbite would be mad if I took that honor."

Danny's eyes widened. "Frosty!? But isn't he supposed to go check the castle?"

Polar gave a chuckle. "Maybe, but don't tell him alright. He wanted it to be a surprise."

Danny flew up into the air. "I won't polar, I promise!" He wore to biggest smile as he flew off and out of the village.

Today was a special day in the FarFrozen. It wasn't remembered too much as a good thing, however, as it was more of a day of precautions. On one night that, occurs every year, a very powerful ghost is said to have risen up, but after many attempts he was sealed away. The FarFrozen hold it as their duty to keep watch over the ghost's resting place so no one could release him.

Danny flew off as fast as he could to meet up with Taiga. She told him the day before that her mother had something special planed for them. When Danny had made it to the cavern where they usually meet up she seemed to have someone else with her; someone Danny didn't recognize. Taiga waved her arms up a bit when she noticed him fly over. "Hey Danny!"

When Danny finally landed he could get a better look at Taiga's guest. He had blue skin, red eyes, and a pair of buck teeth on his child like face. He was relatively short with a blue cloak, several clocks all over him and a staff with stopwatch on the end. "Who's this Taiga?" Danny asked as he looked the boy over carefully.

She gestured to him with a curious smile of her own. "Mama introduced him as Clockwork. She says he's a friend of hers."

The ghost bowed his head. "Yes, I'm Clockwork. I asked your mother if I could take you somewhere special today." He then turned to Danny. "I'm sure both you and Daniel will find it to be quite an interesting experience."

Danny gave him a confused look. "Who's Daniel?"

Clockwork raised a brow before answering. "Oh yes, I mean Danny right?" He said with a smile. He then floats up a bit. "Now how would both of you like to go on a little trip?"

Both Danny and Taiga traded glances. "A trip? To where?" Taiga asked in curiosity.

Clockwork pointed his staff and then turned to them. "The human world."

The surprise on the kid's faces was immediate. Sure, they knew about the human world, and of course they always thought it would be cool to go, but to actually go? Crazy! "Whoa! Really?" Taiga asked.

Danny's expression, though full of surprise like Taiga's, was slightly worried too. He wasn't sure what gave him that anxious feeling but it was there. "You're really gonna take us to the human world? Why? Not that I don't want too." Danny said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Clockwork floated back down, a smile still evident on his face. "I believe it to be an interesting learning experience." He then turned back around and with a wave of his staff a portal appeared. He then took a peek back at them. "It's also bound to be fun." Danny and Taiga looked on at the portal, mouths agape. "Are you coming?" He asked with an all too amused expression.

Both Danny and Taiga traded glances again before nodding. "Yeah!" They said in unison and Clockwork gestured to the portal.

"Then come this way and watch your step." Both children didn't hesitate by this point to jump into the portal.

The bustling city of Amity Park was relatively alive with excitement. Eerie decorations could be seen on almost every suburban house such as webs or carved jack-o-lanterns. It was just past midday when a swirling portal appeared in the clear blue sky just above the roof of a small shop. Danny was the first to pop out, followed by Taiga and Clockwork. The two children were quick to run over to the ledge and take in the unfamiliar sight that was the human world.

Clockwork smiled at their reaction as he tapped his staff to get their attention. "Alright now kids, just hold on." Both children looked back at Clockwork in anticipation. "Now I'm going to go over a few rules alright? Rule 1, no ghost powers. That means no flying, floating, going invisible, intangible or any of those ice powers of yours. You can use them in emergencies but not unless you're in danger okay?"

They seemed a bit confused. "Intangible?" Taiga questioned.

"it means untouchable right?" Danny responded in slight hesitance.

"Ah yes." Clockwork began. "I forgot you've never been outside the ghost zone before. Intangible means you can't be touched like Danny said. Using it can allow you to walk through any object in the mortal realm. For ghosts, it's more of an instinctual thing." He explained as he swept his hand through the sign behind him. "Just think about it like all of your other powers." The two spectral children were delighted to try this new trick as they both pushed their hands through the ground below.

Clockwork then tapped his staff to regain their attention. "Alright now, rule 2, if you must use your powers, make sure no humans see you. Rule 3, you are not to let on or tell any humans that you are ghosts and from the ghost zone. You two think you can handle that?"

"Yeah!" They both said in unison.

"Alright then, I'll leave you two to have some fun." He then pulled out 2 decorated bags from his cloak. "In a few hours the sun will start to set and you'll see a bunch more kids like you outside. Take these and do what they do. You'll get a treat if you do."

"A bag?" Taiga asked as she turned it over in her hands.

"Yes. Believe me, you'll be happy to have it when the real fun starts." With that he disappeared into the portal with his final words an echo. "I'll pick you up when it's over." And now the 2 children were on their own in this quaint little town ready to explore.

Clockwork appeared back in the ghost zone only now he was inside a cavern. "How did it go Clockwork?" Lady Glacia asked as she walked around an ice column connecting the ground and ceiling. She wore an intrigued smile as he turned to her.

"Quite well actually. I expected as much."

The Snow Woman raised a brow. "Of course you did, though I'm still a bit worried. It's dangerous for young ghosts like them in the human world. There are many humans who would try to do them harm."

Clockwork nodded as his form miraculously changed to that of a grown man. "Yes but trials are required for one to grow."

She wore a skeptical expression as she watched him float across the cavern. "I understand that but at such a young age?"

He turned and raised a brow. "That all depends on what the obstacle is. All children have to learn to walk just as all ghost must fly."

She crossed her arms with a stern expression. "What exactly do you have planned you sly old fox?"

He gave a slight chuckle before responding. "Worry not. Everything is as it should be." He then turned and pointed his staff. A swirling portal like a window appeared. "Though if you're worried, feel free to watch over them. I have the greatest confidence they are on the right path."

Glacia formed a chair and sat down in front of the window. "It's partly your confidence that scares me, but what's the point of being the master of time if you don't know everything?" She said with a whimsical tone. "And you're not too good at sharing either." Clockwork merely smirked as he gazed into his own window along with her.

The two ghost children had by now made it down to street level and were peaking around the corner from an ally. "So….. where do we go first?" Danny asked with a nervous expression. "I don't know…" She responded as she peeked over his shoulder. "Should we just wander around until the other kids come out?"

Danny shrugged as he took a moment to look back at her. "I guess…." He then took a step out from behind the brick. There weren't too many people out and about around the area, but it was still way more than Danny was used to seeing. He hadn't seen so many new faces since he first came to the FarFrozen, and he didn't even remember that.

He and Taiga both seemed rather nervous as they walked down the street. "Do you think we look like ghosts to them? I mean I know we're ghosts, but we kinda look like the humans don't we." Taiga whispered as she walked behind him.

Danny nodded in response. "Yeah…. I guess we do." He said as he got a good look at all the humans walking around. The only ones he'd ever seen were in videos or pictures. Frostbite made sure that he was told a lot about them in his lessons. "I think we're good as long as we don't use our powers like Clockwork said."

They continued on through the town and slowly found the scenery changing from down town shops to a more suburban backdrop. They were passing by a fence as a bell goes off when Taiga spotted a child. "Hey look Danny! There's a kid." She pointed ahead of them where the fence opened up. It was a young girl with blond pigtails.

"And another one." Danny said as another girl with tanned skin wearing a ponytail walked behind the other girl. Danny couldn't help but blush a bit when he saw them.

"What was that?" Taiga asked with a teasing smile.

Danny rubbed the back of his neck while looking away. "I…. I-I've never really seen that many girls…." He now found his furry boots to be a bit more interesting as Taiga shakes her head with a smile.

"Come on Danny." She grabs his hand and pulls him along as the red recedes from his face. She stopped right at the gates to watch as more kids came out. "Look at them all Danny."

He peeked over her shoulder and his eyes widened. "There are so many…." There were now several dozen kids all talking or playing outside of a very large building. "That explains it." Danny said as he pointed to the sign on the building. "It's a school."

"Amity Park Elementary?" Taiga read in confusion.

"Yeah it's a school for young kids like us." Danny said in a bit of excitement.

Taiga raised a brow as Danny walked inside a few steps. "What's up with you?"

Danny shrugged as he turned back to her. "I don't know….. I just feel excited."

When he turned back he was surprised to see the face of some sort of lizard creature. "ROAR! I am king of the meat eaters!"

"Whoa!" Danny jump back out of surprise and fell on his back side. He only shook for a moment before realizing this lizard wasn't real, but some sort of outfit. Taiga laughed a bit at the reaction as the boy pushed the dinosaur head over his head like a hood to reveal a dark skinned boy with glasses. "Whoa…. Sorry about that. Didn't mean to scare you." He put out one of the suits claws to help Danny up. "I just saw you in a costume and thought it was cool. I'm one of the only kids who wore one to school today. My name's Tucker, but you can call me Tuck if you want."

Danny took the hand and pulled himself up. "It's okay… I should've been looking where I was going." Danny said as he scratched his head. "So that's a costume huh?" The boy inspected it. "A Tyrannosaurus Rex maybe?"

Tucker nodded. "Yeah cause I wanna be king of the meat eaters." He stated proudly. "Veggies are my worst enemy!" Taiga giggled a bit while Danny gave him the strangest look. "What? You gonna tell me you lik'em?"

Danny shrugged. "I guess….. I usually eat whatever Frosty makes."

Tuck wrinkled his brow. "So you're going to tell me that you eat everything they put in front of you?"

Danny took a moment to think. "Well, there were these nasty orange things he tried to make me eat. They were like carrots only bigger."

Tuck then crossed his arms in triumph. "Everyone has a veggi enemy." He then nodded before taking a good look at them. "So you 2 seem to be dressed similarly….. what are you guys?"

Both Danny and Taiga traded nervous looks and then Danny responded. "I'm a… a um….."

Taiga seeing him struggle came up with her own idea. "He's a snow warrior, and I'm a snow woman." She said as she held the sleeves of her kimono.

"Neat." Tucker responded as he put the dinosaur head back up. "So what are your names anyway? I don't remember seeing you in school."

Danny pointed to himself and then Taiga respectively. "My name's Danny and this is Taiga. I don't go to school, at least not one like this."

Tucker gave him a curious look before his eyes widened as he nodded. "Oh, home schooled huh? Sounds like fun I guess."

"Only when he's not in trouble." Taiga teased with one hand over her mouth. Danny shook his head in response wearing a slight pout. "Anyway, so would you want to play with us? We don't really know our way around."

Tuck cocked his head to the side. "New huh? Well I would like to, but my mom wants me home right after school. If you want though we can go trick or treating together. It'll be fun, and I know all the best houses." He said proudly as he crossed his arms.

"What's trick-" Taiga knocked Danny in the side, cutting him off. "We'll be happy to go with you. When and where should we meet?" She asked with a smile while Danny rubbed his side with a frown.

"Hmmm…." He though a bit with his claw up to his chin. "How about right here? I don't live too far away from here. I plan to start around 6:30, so let's meet then." He then turned and left through the gates while waving to them. "See ya then! I gotta go."

Both Danny and Taiga waved back and Danny's face formed a frown again as soon as Tuck was out of sight. "What was that for anyway?"

She shook her head. "We have to play along with the humans remember? How weird will it be if we don't know about this event he was talking about?" She asked as if it were completely obvious. Danny still seemed confused but he agreed none the less.

"W-What is this!?" Taiga asked in disbelief as a large foliated area came into view. The green was foreign to their eyes which was so very used to stark winter snow. Danny bent down to touch the grass. "This is grass. It's supposed to be all over the human world….. it's so different than in the books."

Taiga was inspecting a bush in front of him. "Of course it's different." She started as she stroked a leaf with here index finger. "This is the real thing." It would seem odd to any passerby that these two children were so interested in simple park plants but to beings who had spent most of their memorable lives surrounded by snow, it is a wonder to behold. The closest thing Danny could remember seeing to a plant would be the vegetables in his food. The 2 of them had originally headed off to explore and kill time before they entered the realm of Amity Park's park.

It seemed to be the plan once again as they slowly moved about just inspecting every strange piece of flora they came across. Before either of them had noticed, over an hour had passed them by and neither was in sight of the other. Danny was rummaging through some bushes to follow a small fury creature he had spotted some time ago. "Come here little guy, I'm not gonna hurt you." He crawled under them to see if he could spot it when he heard something. It sounded rather faint at first but he soon recognized it as crying.

He stood up and slowly homed in on the voice. After peeking around a tree he spotted a young girl. She was wearing a torn pink dress with a princess hat and was crouching on the ground crying. "Are you okay?" Danny asked in a bit of worry. His natural friendly nature came to the surface in these kinds of situations regardless of how shy he felt. She looked up immediately from her knees and locked eyes with him. Her appearance hit Danny like a ton of bricks. Her face, her amethyst eyes, her black hair, all of it was familiar to him somehow….. but from where?

"Hmmm?"

That snapped Danny out his thoughts as he kneeled down to her. "Are you okay?"

She wiped her eyes as she nodded. "I'm fine just…. Go away."

Danny wore a frown as he shook his head in response. "Something's wrong….. let me help." He said with an encouraging smile.

She finished rubbing the tears from her eyes before giving him an accepting nod. "Okay….." She stood up and lifted the torn part of her dress. "It's this dress."

"It got torn?"

She shook her head. "No I did that. My mom is making me wear this for trick-or-treating tonight. She knows I hate this sort of thing too." She then turned over a tag on the dress' side. "The worst part is that it's made of real silk! Its depraved what they do to those creatures!" She almost yelled with her arms crossed.

Danny scratched at his cheek. "Do they kill them?"

Sam shook her head." No, but they treat them like slaves. They breed them just for the silk. How would you feel if you worked hard on something, just to have it taken away when it's finished?"

"I guess I wouldn't like that….." He said in a defeated tone. "But tearing it won't fix things will it?"

The girl looked at him in confusion before letting her gaze fall to the ground. "I guess not…."

"Danny!" He turned his head towards the source of the voice. He recognized it as Taiga's immediately and turned back to the girl.

"Sorry, but my friend is calling me….. I've gotta go."

The strange girl nodded her head. "Okay….. thanks for listening. My name is Sam by the way."

Danny gave her a smile as he slowly walked away. "Mine's Danny. Maybe we'll see each other later?"

"Maybe." She said as she waved back.

Danny then turned and hoped over the bushes while spying Taiga not too far away. "Sorry Taiga, I'm here!"

The sun peeked low over the horizon as Danny and Taiga made their way back to their preordained meeting spot. They had spent much of the time in the park but had explored a bit more as well; a few suburban streets and such. They stood at the school gates waiting for Tuck. "So I guess its finally time to figure out what this 'trick-or-treating' thing is." Taiga said as she pulled out the bag Clockwork had given her. Danny did the same only while staring off into space a bit. He'd had trouble forgetting about that girl he saw. Something about her bothered him, because it was so familiar. "Danny?"

He snapped out of it and looked to an angry Taiga. "Huh?"

She sighed. "Stop spacing out on me! What's up with you today?"

Danny scratched the back of his head. "Sorry… I just have something on my mind." He said with a sheepish expression.

"Hey guys!" They both turned to see a lizard creature running over to them. It was tucker in his dinosaur costume only now it had glasses on top.

"Hey Tuck!" Danny waved to him.

When Tuck had finally reached them he looked around. "No parents?" Both Danny and Taiga shook their heads and Tucker pumped his fist. "Yes! That means no parents to tell us where to go!" He flashed them a calculated smile from under the hood of his costume. "Then let's hit the first house!" He waved them to follow as he turned down a street. Both specters followed quickly with their bags in hand.

About 10 minutes later they stood before a house. Danny and Taiga had both noticed the high traffic of kids in the area. They were all dressed in strange costumes and held some sort of bag or container. Tucker rang the doorbell and had his bag out in front of him. "Alright guys, get ready." Though confused about the gesture they both copied him and awaited the opening of the door. Not more than a minute passed before it opened and a tall lanky man stood in the doorway with a bowl in hand. "Trick-or-treat." Tucker said as he held up his bag.

"A dinosaur huh?" The man said as he rummaged through the bowl. He took glances as both Danny's and Taiga's costumes as well. "You two have great costumes, they look so real." He then places a few pieces of candy into each of the outstretched bags. Danny looks down into the bag still quite confused while Taiga gives him a similar look.

"Alright, next house!" Tuck took the lead as he dashed over towards the next set of steps.

Danny and Taiga fell back and whispered a bit. "So….. what was that?"

Danny shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't really do anything."

Taiga then looked into the bag. "But they gave us stuff…. I don't get this human ritual."

Danny reached in and picked up one of the little wrapped morsels. "What did they give us?"

"Don't eat your candy yet, lets hit a few more houses first." Tuck said as he waited for them to catch up.

"Candy?" Danny asked Taiga.

"They gave us candy? For free?" She wore a look of happy surprise. "I like these humans already."

Danny agreed with a nod as he dropped it back into the bag. A couple dozen houses later the three of them where sporting hefty sacks around half full of candy. "Isn't this sweet? The next neighborhood is the best. There's like 5 houses that give out full candy bars." Tuck said excitedly as he pointed ahead of them.

"Yeah it is. I've never had candies like this before. I wonder if they're better." Danny responded as he looked into the back.

"I don't know Danny, Permafrost's snow cakes are pretty good and no one can make ice delights like my mom."

"True." Danny admitted. "But it's always cool to have something new."

"You guys are weird. Your parents must be those heath nut types. It's surprising they let you come out tonight."

Danny shrugged. "I guess. Frosty doesn't like for me to eat a lot of candies and stuff. He says too much is bad for you."

"Whatever." Tuck said as he shook his candy sack. "But I love that my parents let me have this stuff. When we're done we could have some snacks at my house. My mom said it would be okay as long as we're back by 8:30."

"Sounds fun." Danny said as they past another intersection. Tuck stopped in his tracks the minute they reached the end of the street. "What's wrong Tuck?"

Tucker then turned with little warning. "Come on, I forgot about this one really cool house."

Danny and Taiga followed suit. "What house is that?"

"It's got this weird thing on top and they had out these crunchy treats every year. It's the only good house on this street so I just forgot about it." It didn't take long for them to see the very large metal eyesore that was sitting on top of a very noticeable house. Of course the light up sign doesn't help things.

"Fenton Works…..?" Taiga asked.

"I don't know, but that's the right house. My dad says they're a crazy family that believes in ghosts or something."

Both Taiga and Danny traded nervous glances at the mention of ghosts. "We're okay. He doesn't know alright?" Danny whispered in reassurance.

Tucker was the one to ring the doorbell and when it opened he did something different than normal. "ROAR!" He yelled to the young girl who answered. She wore a smile as she held up a large plate of light green chunks. "Oh scary." She said in mock fear. "Looks like I've got a dinosaur here." She then looked over at the other two kids. Her expression twisted to slight confusion when she set her eyes on Danny but she soon shook it off. "What about you two?"

"I'm a snow warrior of the FarFrozen!" He yelled as he slammed his fist to his chest.

Taiga lifted her sleeves. "And I'm a snow woman."

The girl gave them both smiles as she lowered the tray. "Well good costumes like that certainly deserve a treat." They looked to be toasted rice dyed light green and in the shape of little ghosts. Tuck took one immediately and was followed by a hesitant Taiga. Danny couldn't help but scrutinize the strange treat until he saw Taiga take a bit and her reaction was enough of a push. He took one off the tray and the girl smiled. "Have fun you three. Don't eat too much candy now." Tucker started on his way as he waved and Taiga followed having almost finished hers.

Danny lagged behind at the door. "Thanks for the treat….."

The girl furrowed her brow at the boy. "What's wrong?"

Danny cocked his head to the side. "I don't know….. I just feel like I've seen this house before…. Or maybe it's you."

The girl gave a laugh. "You know what they say, everyone has a double." Danny shrugged in response.

"Come on Danny! Let's get going!" Taiga shouted from a few doors down. Danny nodded and waved back to the girl who was now almost frozen in place for some reason. "Bye!" Danny ran off leaving the girl to herself.

She watched in a memorized state as he ran over to meet his friends. "Danny…..?"

They were now in a rather rich looking neighborhood which seemed to have homes just short of mansions. Tucker was pacing backwards as he explained about it. "Now this place is the jack pot. It's always good to come here during prime candy time cause that's when they hand out the good stuff. If you wait too long then you'll miss out. Sometimes if you come too ear-" He was cut off as he accidentally knocked into someone.

He fell backwards on the girl who instantly protested. "Hey!" She nudged him off and stood up as she dusted herself off. "Be more careful!" She was dressed in a spooky black outfit with a pointed hat and she was carrying a broom.

Danny was quick to recognize her because she wasn't wearing the green makeup which is standard for a witch. "Sam?"

She looked passed Tuck's big dinosaur head. "Danny? Hey Danny!" She said with a smile as she walked around to him.

"Hey Sam. You're wearing something different?" He said as he noticed her gothic décor.

"Yeah. My grandma snuck it to me. She's so awesome." She responded as she brushed a bit of her hair behind her ear.

"Who is this Danny?" Taiga asked as she helped Tucker up.

He turned to her in an apologetic fashion. "Oh, I forgot to tell you about her. I met her when we were in the park earlier. This is Sam." He said as he gestured to her. "And Sam, this is Taiga. She's my best friend." He said as he pointed to the female specter.

"Hi." Sam said as she waved.

"The one who ran into you is Tucker."

He walked up to her. "Hi…. Sorry about that." He said as he put out a hand in greeting.

"It's okay, just be more careful next time." She suggested as she shook his hand.

"You wanna come with us to trick-or-treat?" Danny asked without hesitation. Fortunately the other two jumped on the bandwagon easily.

"Yeah, that'll be fun!" Tucker said excitedly.

"Can I?" Sam asked with little confidence.

"Of course you can!" Danny almost shouted as he grabbed her wrist. "Alright Tuck, led on!" The dinosaur clad boy quickly turned and headed off with his companions plus one on his heels.

The kids arrived at Tuckers just past 8' o clock and all carried bags crammed full of tasty treats from the oh so giving people of Amity Park. When he opened the door Mrs. Foley was rather surprised to not an extra child in the group. "Tucker sweetie, I thought you said you were going with only two other kids?"

He nodded. "Yeah, but we ran into her later and she's one of Danny's friends."

She looked over her little guests. "Oh you two are so cute with your matching outfits and is that a little witch I see?" She said with an adoring grin on her face. She closed the door behind them and guided them to the kitchen. "Alright Tucker, hand over that bag okay. You know I'm not going to let you eat it all at once."

He frowned as he did so. "Aww…."

She took up the bag and pointed to the table. "I'm sure you've already had some. I made s'mores so just have your friends sit at the table over there."

"Alright." Tucker said in excitement as he jumped into a seat at the little round table. "Come on guys." They all followed suit and took up spots at the table where Mrs. Foley was quick to hand out plates with gram crackers.

She next pulled out one plate from the microwave with marshmallows on it. "Alright kids, here you go."

Danny was surprised when he recognized the treat. "Oh, I've had this before." He said as he picked one of the fluffy white treats off the plate. He placed it on the cracker and then placed another on top.

"Yeah, Polar loves to make these right?"

Danny nodded. "Yeah. He'll make up a fire on the spot when he takes me out to go exploring. We'll even make them in caves."

"That sounds really fun. So he takes you camping?"

"Well we don't stay the night but it's still fun." Danny responded and then took a bite of his snack.

"Hey Tucker, how'd you make out this year?" a man said as he walked into the kitchen.

"Looks to me like he did great." Mrs. Foley said as she gave the man a kiss on the cheek.

He seemed to be carrying something large and orange in his arms. "Hey sport, I finished our pumpkin." He set it on the table by Tucker and turned it around to reveal a robot like face.

"Cool dad!" The other kids marveled at the carving.

"It's a robot?" Sam asked as she looked at the job well done.

"Yeah. I draw on the design and my dad cuts it out."

Mrs. Foley then walked over with a candle and placed it inside the open top. "Now it's a real Jack-o-lantern." She said as she flicked out the kitchen light. The glow made it look all the more wondrous as the fire licked the inside of the autumn gourd.

Danny couldn't help but smile at Tuck and his dad who had a hand on the boy's shoulder. "I can't wait to carve mine out." He then turned to Taiga. "Frosty said he's gonna do it with me this year but Polar says it's supposed to be a surprise."

Tuck looked at him in slight confusion. "So are those just nicknames for your family or something."

Taiga stopped Danny before he could answer and gave her own play on things. "Yeah. Frosty is his dad, Polar is like his uncle and Permafrost is his teacher. They have a winter theme this year." Tucker shrugged at the explanation and then turned back to his dad. Danny gave her a somewhat mad expression and she whispered her apologies. "Sorry Danny, but you just can't tell them the straight up truth. Besides, that wasn't much of a lie anyway. Don't you treat Frostbite like Tuck treats his dad?" She asks as she points to the two humans.

Danny couldn't help but nod in agreement. Even if he wasn't his real dad, he was the closest thing he had to one and he loved him. "Alright….."

"So where do you want to keep it this year? In your room again? Maybe on the table?"

Danny raised his brow and turned to them. "What are you talking about? If you want it to work it has to be outside the door otherwise the Fright Knight will come inside in the middle of the night." Everyone but Taiga gave him a look of serious disbelieve and confusion.

"What are you talking about Danny?" Sam asked from his side.

"Yeah who's the Fright Knight?" Tucker asked.

Mr. Foley gave a smile. "Sounds like a good scary story to tell."

Danny turned to Taiga in confusion. "How could they not know the story of the Fright Knight?"

"Humans are weird." Taiga whispered back.

Danny then turned back towards the humans around the table. "Alright, I tell it. Frosty tells me this story every All Hallows Eve which is tonight." Both the Foley parents pulled up chairs at the table to listen in with the kids. "A long time ago it is said that the Knight First appeared as a knight to Pariah Dark, the ghost king. He served him faithfully until the day the ghost king was eventually sealed away.

On that day the Fright Knight was born and he tore through to the human realm on his winged horse called Nightmare. When he arrived he claimed the first human village he saw as his kingdom and ruled over in cruelly. Once he had finished building the castle that would be the heart of his kingdom he set forth to conquer the surrounding order to do this he had a sorcerer and a blacksmith forge him a new sword but not a normal sword. This sword would have magical properties. When he swung his sword through his foe they wouldn't die."

"Well they would eventually." Taiga interrupted much to Danny's displeasure.

He cleared his throat as he started again. "Like I said, they wouldn't die, but instead they would be transported to another dimension where they would be forced to live out their worst fear until their end came. He could also plant the sword into the ground and claim it with his power, causing all that landed on to fall to will he spoke as he did so. This sword was named the Soul Shredder.

He ravaged the lands for only a few years but in those years he destroyed everything and enslaved all the people who lived in them. Of course the people tried to rebel many times but they couldn't stand up to such power. In the end it was the sorcerer, who had made the sword, who ended him. The blacksmith and the sorcerer were smart and they came up with a failsafe for his sword. They knew that the Fright Knight might become a serious problem even if they were his subjects. They had given the sword a weakness.

It was on another All Hallows Eve that they implemented their plan. They rallied the subjects to his castle and after a fierce fight they were able to plunge the sword into a pumpkin. They had made it so that if the sword were put into a pumpkin that it would seal the sword's powers and the Fright Knight along with it. The people celebrated, but they knew that the Fright Knight was not gone for good and so on every All Hallows Eve, the day he is strongest, they would carve out pumpkins and keep them at their doors so that if the Fright Knight ever escaped, he would avoid the house for fear of being sealed again."

By the ned of the story all eyes were on Danny and the smiles had faded. Danny hadn't told the story in any sort of teasing or spooky manner, but in a solidly serious tone. "That was….. quite a tale." Mr. Foley commented as he gave a passing glance to his wife.

"Yes, I have to agree." She agreed with an almost smile.

Tucker and Sam on the other hand were almost speechless. "That was the best Halloween story I've ever heard!"

Sam nodded her head in agreement. "I'm going to have to tell my grandma that one." She said with a slightly mischievous tone.

Taiga simply clapped. "Frostbite would be proud."

Mr. Foley then took a good look a t his watch. "Speaking of parents. I think you kids should be headed home. Your parents may start to worry if you take took long." The three guests agreed with a grumble and took their candy sacks out with them to the door.

They said their goodbyes and were out into the cool autumn night. Sam shook slightly in the breeze. "Man its cold. I guess short sleeves wasn't the best idea, huh Danny?" She looked over to Danny who, to her own disbelieve, didn't seem cold at all despite the fact that he wasn't even wearing a shirt. "Danny aren't you cold?"

He was preoccupied with the night stars which he had taken a liking too earlier that night. He snapped out of it when Taiga nudged him. "Oh…. Huh?"

"Aren't you cold?" Sam repeated.

Danny shrugged. "Well no….. but I'm used to the cold. This is actually pretty warm for me." He said with a smile and then saw her shiver again. He thought for a moment before he looked to the white cloak he was making little use of. He unlatched it from his neck and handed it her. "Here… I'm not really using it."

She scrutinized it for a moment before taking it. "Thanks." It was in that moment that she noticed the crystal that hung from Danny's neck. It was normally covered by the cloak's latch but now it hung free. "Wow…. It's beautiful." She commented as she reached out for it.

Danny stepped back so she couldn't touch it. "Sorry but I can't let you touch it. It's super important to me."

She seemed a bit disappointed but didn't fight it. "Alright….. I guess I'll see you guys later?"

"Maybe." Taiga said with a tease as she pulled Danny along with her. Sam took the opposite sidewalk as she made her way back home.

"It would seem you both had fun?" They suddenly heard a voice say from behind them as they were walking down the street. They both turned to see the young Clockwork floating just behind them.

"Oh! Clockwork!" Danny said in a surprised tone. "So you came to pick us up?"

He nodded as he turned and opened a swirling portal. "Yes. So did you both enjoy yourselves?"

"Yeah."

"These humans gave us free candy!" They both exclaimed.

He smiled as he guided them towards the portal. "Good, I'm happy to hear that. So what do you two think about humans? Were you surprised or were they as you expected?" He asked with a grin on his face.

"Way better than I thought." Taiga commented.

"Yeah, they were great…" Danny said with slight hesitance that was lost to Taiga.

Clockwork looked at the boy and floated over to him. "So, you have been feeling strange since you arrived?"

Danny looked up to him with his eyes wide. "H-How did you know that?"

He gave a chuckle. "It's perfectly natural you know. Don't let it bother you too much. Everything comes with time." He then guided them through the portal and back to the realm of the FarFrozen.
