I haave no internet for the next 2/3 weeks. I just wanted people to know why it wasn't being updated. I'm not abandoning it, I'm just unable to do so.
Warning: discussions of the previous victims. Imagery
They discussed the situation with Sulu long into the night. Figuring that they would each have a certain area of investigation. Bones job would bee to keep seeing what he could find out at the Medical bay. He happily took care of that role. Sure he didn't appear to be doing much but wait and question but what else could they do.
They had the lead from Sulu but all it told them was that some being had a box that expelled poisonous smoke when opened, and some sicko was using it to harm others. Therefore Bones job wasn't too tasking and it meant that he could still do the job he loved at the same time.
Sulu and Pavel had been told to work together. Checking the library and the archives. Anything that could possibly give them some information on the subject. As Kirk said, "Surely, someone has reported this before or why else would it have been hidden away in a box." So they were checking everything and coming up with nothing.
Uhura and Kirk were given the job to interview others. Such a great job really, Bones had told them to do it. They didn't appreciate it, the had to work together because of him.
Up to now, McCoy's day had been the usual. Some kid came in that had had another allergic reaction to strawberries. It was getting frustrating to McCoy because each time he sent the kid out with a full explaination as to why he couldn't eat or drink anything with strawberries in. Well he just came bach with the same issue, again.
Rubbing his forehead in frustration, it was like no one listened to him. He was a Doctor. He knew best. My god, why didn't people listen to him. Ever.
Then his next patient came in and if he didn't have a stress headache after the first one he sure as hell had it after the second.
For God's sake how did someone get a lightbulb stuck in their gob accidently. Stupid frat parties, he blamed. They never came with good omens. They always ended with some idiot in the Medical bay with a bleedin' lightbulb or whatever stupid thing they'd decided to try in their mouth or worse. One guy had an arrow in his foot.
Not that they disclosed how. Probably too embarressed by their own stupidity.
Dare he say it, they were worse than Jim at times.
Aside from that his investigation, his mission given to him by said boy wonder, had had no results. Apparently no one knew anything of the casualties that had been coming in. Even the nurse who he knew had definitly aided the operation. It was as if the Academy was trying to cover up these medical cases. Like it would cause people to panic.
And sure he understood that people may but then wouldn't that mean that they weren't fit for intergalactical travel. McCoy was sure that even though they were only their for explorational reason they still faced their good share of uglies. Klingons being one. Then whatever else wanted to take a bite out of you.
So no, no information and no apparent issues as of late. Unless you count Lightbulb Boy.
Sulu and Pavel were having the same sad luck. Nothing was coming up on searches.
They were currently in the school archives. Pavel sitting on the floor surrounded by large issued books whilst Sulu used his computer to search for possibly relevant books and reports. Sulu had so far gone through a good hundred short reports, about a page long. Each not having a single bit of relevant information. Pavel himself had already searched through 16 books with around 700 pages each and was beginning to think that this was getting hopeless.
With no lessons today he had inevitably expected to be able to find something. An entire day of searching through old humoungous dusty books surely would have paid off, yet supposedly such wasn't so.
He'd found something similar but the symtoms that it produced held no relevance. It wasn't harmful enough to create empty black holes where eyes should have been situated. Instead it caused a slight flu with dizziness; there was no way it could have been the same thing. Although it did look the same, this led to them continuing their endless search.
Glancing up at Sulu, someone he hoped to be friends with because the guy seemed alright, he asked, "Found anything useful?"
His voice was more desperate than hopeful to Sulu's ears and he wished he could say something to appease the teen but he to was feeling desperation. There was nothing in these reports, nothing had been reported that sounded like what they were facing and it didn't make semse. There had to be something like this. It couldn't have just appeared one day in some forest in a box. There had to be a reasonable explaination. There just had to be.
With a short shake of his head, "Haven't found squat. You?"
"Same as last time. Nothing," a little less hope left both of them as they went back to researching.
Further down the line, Uhura and Kirk were having a similar issue. They had started out on campus but had had to leave after they got too vocal. People were curious and a little suspicious of their actions, Pike being one of them. Therefore they left to search around the school, maybe someone outside of the Academy had seen or heard something.
It wasn't as though they'd gotten anything from anyone anyway. No matter how many people they asked no one could give them anything. There investigation was bgetting no where, interrogation according to Uhura with the way he was speaking to them. According to her he was too accuastaional.
But that wasn't his fault. He felt helpless which was a feeling that hee was trying to escape. It was too enclosing this thing. What if they were told to close the Academy. He would no longer be surrounded by people who cared for him. Friends which he'd never had whilst he grew up; people he wished to one day class as family. He was slowly edging towards that mind set and he wished to stay there.
This illness was a possible spanner in the works. If they weren't at the Academy would they leave him. Like everyone else in his life. His mum had done that, she'd left him and his brother with her boyfriend, Frank, whilst she went off exploring. He loved his mum but that was something he hated. Then his brother left, said he needed to get away. That he couldn't stay with Frank, but neither could he. He hated the guy. He thought he was better than dad and he wasn't.
He didn't want to be abandoned again.
Through his musing, he nearly failed to miss the sight ahead of him. Uhura had been facing the other way when tit had come into view. A man was holding another to the wall by the throat. But what grabber his attention was the box in his hand, smoke consuming the other mans face.
Who's mouth was open in a silent scream. Uhura noticed at that moment and both ran forward without considering the consequences. This was their guy but he too had seen them. Pulling up his hood. Closing the box. He ran. Dropping his victum to the floor.
Uhura dropped to her knees beside the vcitum, straight away going to comm an authority figure at the Academy.
Kirk was torn, should he help or run.
Uhura's eyes burned with anger, not directed at Kirk for once, "Get him!"
Enough said and he was running. He could see him up ahead. He'd only frozen for a few moments, it gave him a lead though.
Chasing his through five streets and finally into an alley. He had him trapped. Perfect.
Discovering that he was undoubtable trapped the figure turned. His face now obscured. And attacked. The box not in sight.
Kirk through a punch, hitting the figure in the stomach. Sending him sprawling. He couldn't help the involuntry chuckle that escaped him. This was too easy.
The figure launched himself off the ground, in the process kicking Kirk in the chest. Caught off guard he fell with an almight crash.
Not wanting to be caught, the figure ran. Kirk too winded to run after him. He'd let his guard down for a second, a second and he was taken down. Shit what was Uhura going to say. He'd in theory let him escape, with lack of attention.
Back to square one.
Hope you enjoyed. Please review :)
