Hey guys! Abby and Alya here!
We're Alive!
Like we've said before, we aren't ditching this story. We still have a lot planned though the fact that we have been living hectic lives in different states has made it very difficult for us to write together.
Hopefully we will be able to write together more often. In the meantime check out our indivual stories that we're working on. I have Tingia, Shadow Flower, and Tingia cut outs and other stories.
I on the other hand have Hearts on Fire and Changes (both soon to be continued). Also, we want to thank everyone who is still reading for sticking with us. We never update, but we really appreciate all of the wonderful comments that we get from all of you. It makes our days so much better. So, we've gone on enough, enjoy this next chapter of Who Am I?
Jared shook his head at his cousin again before looking at Artemis and crossing his arms, "You're the only one left... start talking..."
Artemis shrugged, "There's nothing to explain."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes really," she said as she walked past him and into the building towards her locker.
"Hold it right there young lady! We are not done talking about this!"
Artemis stopped in her tracks. Slowly, she turned around, jaw locked tightly shut, fists clenched, and daggers in her eyes. She growled venomously, "You did NOT just say that!" Jared put his hands up in surrender and backed away with wide eyes. As the realization struck her, she turned to calm down. After a few deep breaths, she turned back to him to apologize, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you, but... I just don't do well when it comes to people acting like my father."
Jared shook his head and put a light hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry about it. Now I know better." He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck, "You just scared me half to death. I thought you might just try to kill me."
Artemis smirked and shook her head back, "Nah, you didn't do anything wrong. Your cousin on the other hand is a different story."
With that, their friends showed up, striking up conversations with them as they headed for their classes.
After school, the group walked out of the building together, laughing and joking. An irritating tapping noise caught Artemis's attention. Turning, she saw Oliver standing there, foot tapping impatiently. She rolled her eyes and thought, Oh, here it comes. Another wonderful lecture. She said goodbye and left the group to confront the blonde man. Walking up to him, she gave him an enormous fake smile, voice dripping in excess sarcasm, "Hello Oliver! I missed you SO much!" The sarcasm dropped and she glared at him as she turned and walked toward the car.
Oliver stood in utter shock as he watched her for a moment before tensing his jaw and following her to the car. He had enough respect for the girl, even after her actions to not embarrass her in front of her friends. He climbed into the driver's seat and pulled out of the parking lot. Upon doing so, he began to yell at Artemis.
The girl rolled her eyes and stared out the window. She didn't really care. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't call or text. I didn't come home. You were worried sick. I'm in big trouble. Blah, blah, blah. Once they were pulled into the parking lot at the apartment building, she climbed out without even paying attention to Oliver's screaming. She walked straight to the zeta-beam station.
Stepping out into the cave, Oliver was on her heels, still yelling at her. She whipped around at Oliver with fire in her eyes, "STOP!"
Red got up from his desk in his bedroom at the cave. What is going on out there? He walked out into the hall hearing Artemis yelling at whom he could only assume was Oliver. He wasn't the only one that had noticed as he looked back to see everyone else emerging from their rooms and joining him in the hallway.
"What's going on?" Wally asked.
"Artemis is tearing into Oliver."
"What's she saying?"
Red shrugged, "Sounds like she's yelling in Vietnamese."
"Well, can you translate?" Robin asked.
"I can try... It sounds like something along the lines of... 'not my father'... 'not your student'... 'leave me alone'... 'go away." He shook his head, "That's about all I'm getting."
Robin rubbed the back of his neck, "She sounds pretty pissed right now. Oliver should let her cool down."
Red shook his head again, "We both know he won't." With that, he walked out of the hallway just as Artemis was leaving through the zeta tube. He grabbed Oliver's shoulder. "I'll follow her. If you go after her, you'll only make matters worse. Go cool down for a while." He left Oliver standing there to pursue the blonde teenager through the zeta.
Artemis woke to the muffled sound of her alarm clock on the window sill. She climbed down dizzily onto the fire escape outside the window. Crawling through the window, she knocked the clock to the floor. Picking it up, she turned it off as she sat on the edge of her bed. Her hands were shaking in her lap. That was exactly what she needed right now. She already knew she was weak, but she couldn't wimp out of school just because she was shaking. She was probably just hungry.
Oliver drove her to school without a single complaint from the teenager, for once. It took until the end of her first period before she started to feel better, but the moment she walked into the gym she knew she was in trouble. Her feet carried her straight to the locker room to change. It took her longer than usual to change into the school mandated gray t-shirt and maroon shorts. Emerging from the locker room, she took her place on the floor.
Jared was already in his place on the boys' side just over the half-court line beside her. He smiled at her as the class began their stretches. That day, of all the possible sports, was dodge ball. They were supposed to be doing baseball, but some of the equipment had mysteriously disappeared. This was the alternative. Each side was given the same number of the classic red, rubber, air-filled balls. When the whistle blew, war ensued.
Artemis took the first opening available. She grabbed a ball as it rolled across the floor. Running to the front line, she chucked it at the other team. It nailed a large boy, one she assumed was on the football team by his height and overall size. He turned, saw who had hit him, and gave her a thumbs up as he walked off the court. After taking out probably their strongest player nearly instantly, the cross-hairs were set on Artemis. Everyone was aiming for her. She dodged every ball they threw, catching as many as she could as well. Jared, who was on the other team avoided her.
It only took a couple minutes before she was the only one left of her team. The other side held all the ammo, and she was standing in a completely open space. This didn't look good. Actually, the room looked like it was spinning, but she couldn't worry about that now. She dodged like she was trying to navigate a laser grid. The other team was finally out of ammo and Artemis could hardly stand, but miraculously she had dodged ever ball. Darkness began to encroach on her vision. She dropped to her hands and knees staring at the floor. Artemis tried to hold onto her consciousness as long as she could, but her muscles all shook like leaves. The last sounds she heard was the sound of the gym teacher's whistle blowing to stop the game and feet hitting the floor. Then her vision went black...
Anyway, thanks for reading guys. We haven't been through our reviews in a long time, so we will have to thank you all later. Anyway, thanks for all of your support and we will see you all next time. Bye everyone!
