Hello fellow readers, writers, and those who are bored! I am back today with a new chapter! In the last chapter, Victoria helped her team reach the desired victory! However, something was terribly wrong with her wing after the dodgeball game... Or was it already like that? With another time skip, here is the tenth chapter! (I don't really like writing a bunch of time skips, but I can't really write about the days in between if nothing happens. Sorry!)

Chapter 10: Let It Burn

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!

Rosie's eyes fluttered open, groaning as she heard the alarm go off. Softly, she pressed the snooze button as she sat up in bed. What day was it..?

She got up from her bed, walking to the calendar that was hung on her wall. A friday... In December. She smiled, it was almost Christmas time, her favorite holiday ever! She walked away from the calendar, going to her chest of drawers.

'Where are you, uniform?' Rosie thought to herself, rummaging through the drawer. She threw some other clothing items around, searching and searching for her uniform.

"Rosie! I'm making breakfast, okay?" She heard her mother call from below.

"Okay mom!" Rosie yelled back, pulling out her shirt, skirt, and tie. She knew the blazer was downstairs, so she quickly got dressed.

"...Hm?" Rosie paused when she began to put on her sock. She smelled the air around her, it smelled bitter. It was as if...

A fire was started.

Her eyes widened as she ran downstairs. She knew her mom wasn't a great chef, but this was ridiculous.

"MOM!" Rosie shouted as she slid down the flight of stairs. "WHAT'S GOING ON?-!" Rosie continued as she raced to the kitchen.

The entire room was ablaze.

"Rosie! Get back!" Rosie's mother shouted, pulling her daughter from the incoming flames. "We need to get out of here!"

"What happened?-!" Rosie asked, feeling tears brim her big, light scarlet eyes.

"...I was trying to cook, but the oil spilled on the gas stove." Rosie's mother answered.

"...What's going to happen to our home?" Rosie asked, feeling tears fall down her cheeks.

"...I don't think we can live in here anymore." Rosie's mother answered. Rosie's eyes filled with tears as she hugged her mother close. Not only had she lost her father, but now her home was gone too.

"..." Rosie remained silent as she cried. She didn't know what to think of the situation at hand.

"I got your stuff for school out before the fire." Rosie's mother said, handing her the bag.

Rosie released her mom from her hug, picking up the bag. "Thank you..." Rosie said.

"Go to school, honey. I'm sorry that this happened to you..." Rosie's mother said, petting her daughter's head softly.

Without another word, Rosie headed for the bus stop, head hung low and her mood disastrous.

Today was not going to be very cheerful.

Rosie sat herself on the bench on the bus stop. She put her head in between her hands and stared at the asphalt, dejected. 'I can't believe that just happened...' She thought to herself. Her eyes were puffy, and her cheeks were reddened.

"Hey Rosie." A voice from her left said. Rosie's head raised and her ears perked up.

"Hi Grace..." Rosie replied, not lifting her head to look at Grace.

"...You okay?" Grace asked, sitting next to her not-so-cheerful friend. Rosie turned her head away, her pointy ears drooping.

"..." Rosie gave no response, which signaled that she did not want to talk about her mood. Grace understood, and turned away from her.

"Hey Rosie, Grace, how's it goin'? Brittany asked as she approached the sitting duo. She patted Rosie's head slightly, making sure that she wouldn't hurt the normally cheerful young girl.

"Hi." Rosie replied, not taking her eyes off of the asphalt.

"...Umm, you-" Brittany began, but was stopped by Grace's hand. Grace shook her head, not wanting Brittany to worsen her mood any more.

"I see that the rest of you have arrived." Victoria spoke as she walked over to the bench. Accompanying her was her best friend Samantha, along with the boys.

"Hey, what's up with Rosie?" Blue asked. That struck Red's attention.

'Something's wrong with her?' Red thought to himself. He slowly walked up to the bench, examining Rosie's stance.

Head between hands. Staring at asphalt. No doubt about it.

Something went terribly wrong.

"Rosie? You okay?" Red asked.

No response was heard from the girl for a while. However, when she opened her mouth, a loud honk was heard instead.

"Hyrule Academy Bus!" The driver announced as he opened the doors of the yellow locomotive. The others glanced at Rosie as she stood and walked onto the bus, then followed her to the very back where they sat all the time.

"..." Rosie remained silent as she watched her friends sit beside her. She did not want to look at them and worry them with her own sadness.

"So... It's almost Christmas time... And..." Grace said, attempting to start a conversation. However, no one else joined.

'...Something's not right here. She doesn't just get upset like this just to see how we react...' Victoria thought, putting her hand under her chin. She watched her friend turn her head away from her.

"Rosie, tell me, is there something troubling you?" Victoria asked in a soft whisper. Rosie turned her head to her lavender eyed friend, her light scarlet eyes wide and slightly teary.

"...Yes..." Rosie whispered, her voice shaky and low. Victoria kept her eyes on her friend, her line of sight not wavering until she was given information.

"...I lost my house in a fire." Rosie finished, only letting Victoria hear her voice. Victoria's eyes widened slightly, then her expression saddened.

"Is that... So?" Victoria asked. Rosie nodded, looking away from her friend and wiping her tear-stained face.

Then, Victoria got an idea.

"...I think I may be able to help you with your current situation." Victoria spoke, putting her hand on Rosie's head.

"R-Really?" Rosie asked, her eyes full of hope.

"You could stay at my house until yours is repaired or your mother finds a new house in the neighborhood." Victoria offered. However, before she could give details, she felt Rosie hug her tightly.

"Thank you!" Rosie whispered loudly, not trying to gain the others' attention. Victoria nodded, patting her head softly.

'All I need to do now...' Victoria thought, '... Is get rid of the beast that lives in my own house.'

The skies were purpleish orange, indicating the approaching dusk. Two girls of the same age began approaching a large house, Victoria's home. As they approached, Victoria's steps grew quieter and quieter. Rosie noticed this, and got Victoria's hidden message.

"...So, who do I have to be so quiet?" Rosie asked, whispering as she tip-toed behind Victoria. She looked at the windows of the house, seeing nothing but darkness. "...No one's home."

"...Reasons." Victoria answered quickly, not wanting to reveal anything to her friend. She followed her friend's gaze, silently sighing in relief as she saw no light was on.

"Like what?" Rosie asked, eager to find out. She would not leave the topic until she got her answers.

"...I won't explain now, maybe later if I remember." Victoria whispered back, turning away from the front door.

Rosie noticed this. "Why aren't we going through the front door?" She asked, straying from Victoria's path and heading towards the door.

"N-No!" Victoria pulled Rosie from the door, hiding with her behind a wall. "...It's locked. I left the key inside."

"...Oh...Kay..." Rosie answered, letting herself get pulled to the back door. Victoria softly turned the knob on the white, wooden door, and opened it. She let Rosie in first, then entered, shutting the door quietly behind her.

"...Wow..." Rosie gasped softly in awe. She walked around the room, taking a quick gander at all of the decorative objects and sitting comfortably on the large, white couch. "This place is so cool!"

"...No one's home..?" Victoria muttered. However, she heard small footsteps from the stairs. Barefoot ones, too. "...Hm?"

"...Victoria?"

Rosie jumped, hearing the soft, high pitched voice. She turned her head to where the stairs were, her eyes widening in delight. "Oh! Thundera!"

"Hi Rosie. How come you're here?" Thundera asked, walking downstairs. Her yellow nightgown seemed to illuminate the darkened room due to it's bright color. "Did something happen?"

"Her house burned down, so she's staying with us for a bit." Victoria answered. "Now, Thundera, could you order something for dinner?"

"I already did. I felt you coming near, so I figured I would order some pizza." Thundera answered, sitting next to Rosie on the couch. "I ordered a large pizza with one half being cheese and the other being a veggie pizza, Rosie's favorite." She smiled, her large, yellow eyes flickering slightly.

"H-How did you-" Rosie began, but was cut off by Victoria.

"She's psychic." Victoria answered simply, pulling out a book from her shelf.

'Psychic?-! That's so... Amazing!' Rosie thought to herself, her eyes wide in amazement at the strange ability Thundera had. "Can you do anything else?"

"I can hack into anything. Databases, codes, you name it." Thundera said. "Even ones that are, what I call, hacklocked."

"...And you're eight?" Rosie asked. Thundera nodded, smiling brightly.

"Yup! Only eight years old and counting!" Thundera responded cheerfully, her pearly white teeth showing. Rosie blinked in confusion. How could an eight year old learn how to do all of this?

"Looks can be deceiving, I suppose." Victoria muttered, setting the table. "She's quite the genius."

"...I see." Rosie whispered to herself. However, before she could say any more, the doorbell rang.

And when that happened, both Victoria and Thundera jumped.

"Thundera, get upstairs now." Victoria commanded. Thundera nodded worriedly, bolting upstairs. Rosie blinked in confusion once more.

"What's going-" Rosie began, but was silenced by Victoria's hand.

"Don't speak." Victoria ordered, whispering. Rosie began to get worried. But she obeyed, and followed where Thundera ran off to.

Victoria slowly approached the door, looking outside. To her immense relief, it was only the pizza guy. "All clear." She announced, opening the door.

"That'll be a red rupee." The man said. Victoria quickly turned her head to Thundera, who thew her a red rupee.

"Here." Victoria said as she gave the man what he asked for. The man nodded, walking away from the manor while Victoria closed the door.

"What was that all about, Victoria?" Rosie asked, confusion audible in her high-pitched voice. "How come you told Thundera to go upstairs?"

"Oh…" Victoria began. "That was because we practice a 'stranger-danger' thing still. Being a psychic makes her curious to meet new people, and you never know what they're thinking."

Rosie nodded. "I understand. So, is the pizza warm enough?"

Victoria paused, giving her cheerful friend a confused look. "Of course it is. Why do you ask?"

"Well, I was just wondering. I don't really like cold foods…" Rosie muttered, joining her friends at the table.

"Ah, that's right." Victoria remembered, setting the pizza on the table. However, she noticed a certain someone was missing. "Thundera, you can come down now."

"Okay." Thundera answered as she made her way down to the dining room. She sat herself in what she considered to be her favorite spot at the table and served herself a slice of pizza.

Rosie smiled at Thundera, admiring her cuteness. She then proceeded to serve herself and began eating. "Victoria," She began, swallowing the food that was in her mouth, "Where's your mom and dad?"

Victoria paused, her somewhat cheerful outlook drastically changing. "…Not home." She answered. Rosie's mouth created an "o" shape, and regretful thoughts filled her mind. "At least, I think they won't come home yet."

Rosie was confused by what she heard. "Why not?"

Victoria began eating, not looking at either Rosie's or Thundera's faces. "Not sure. I just have that feeling they won't."

Thundera sighed, knowing exactly why she was acting this way. Before the death of their mother, Victoria was one of the most cheerful people anyone could meet. However, when their mother died, the father got into drinking alcohol to excess and took out his anger on Victoria and Thundera. Now it was more of a drunken rage rather than actually having a reason.

"Oh." Rosie answered. They ate in silence, not a single person speaking. After a few minutes, however, Thundera yawned and spoke.

"I'm going to bed, Victoria. Good night." Thundera said, heading upstairs to her room.

"…Speaking of beds…" Victoria muttered, snapping back into reality. "Rosie, you can stay in the guest room. Is that alright?"

"Of course! Whatever's okay with you is perfect with me!" Rosie exclaimed cheerfully. Victoria smiled at her cheerfulness and led her to a door under the stairs.

"Here it is. I hope it's to your liking." Victoria opened the door to the extremely large guest room. The bed was probably a queen sized one with a fluffy, soft, and slightly bouncy mattress with thick, slightly thick, and thin bed sheets over it. Above the door was a wide, flatscreen television with 1080p vision. The walk in closet was located at the left of the room inside the wall.

"This is a guest bedroom?-!" Rosie exclaimed, her scarlet eyes wide in amazement.

"Yes." Victoria answered calmly. "How come you're so surprised? Is it not good enough?"

"W-Well it isn't exactly what you'd expect for a guest room, ya know..." Rosie answered, fumbling on her words so she wouldn't offend her friend.

"Oh. Quite right..." Victoria muttered, sighing softly. "Anyway, I'll see you in the morning, okay? Maybe we could call the others to come over tomorrow?"

"Sure! That'll be fun!" Rosie exclaimed, giving her friend a thumbs up. Victoria smiled as she softly shut the door to the guest room and headed upstairs.

Rosie flopped on the large, queen sized bed and sighed loudly. "Victoria's so nice. I can't believe she actually let me stay here..." She smiled as she stared up to the ceiling. She then sat upright, her smile soon leaving her face entirely.

"...I wonder how mom's doing..." She wondered before setting her thoughts aside and getting ready for a long night's sleep.

...Okay.

I need to explain myself.

I finally decided to finish this chapter. After a few months of hiatus. I don't want to have this story discontinued, but if I can't write this, it is what it is. The hiatus was mainly due to:

1) My horrible writer's block.

2) My lack of motivation.

3) My school taking over my life.

4) Entrance Exams.

5) Sorta has to do with school, but it's more on the people side. They won't quit bothering me and annoying me.

I hope you liked this chapter, even if it was sorta half-assed. I'll try to write when I have the idea or motivation, but since my brain wants to go to Earthbound, I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it.

Sorry...
