Chapter 11
Danny's P.O.V.
I was so tired that by the time we got back to the Tower I headed straight to my room. I knew BB was behind me, I wasn't about to stop him either. Once in my room I fell onto the bed and BB climbed in behind me and held me.
"Do you want to talk about it?" BB asked.
"There is no point to it. I can never remember what happens to me when Freakshow has me under control." I sighed rolling over to look at him.
"So you wouldn't know if you did something or he did something to you?" he asked.
"No, it sucks but what can I do?" I asked. BB sighed and leaned in for a kiss. I felt my eyes dropping and I fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up to my stomach churning as if I needed to throw up. I did so I jumped out of bed and raced into the bathroom attached to my room and lurched everything in my stomach out. As I was emptying my stomach I felt a hand rubbing my back and a wet cloth on the back of my neck. I just knew that it was BB.
"It's okay Danny, just get it all out. I can go and get Cyborg to take a look at you once you're done." BB said. I just nodded and I lurched once. By this point all that was left in my stomach was bile. Once I was done BB helped me back into bed. I wanted to go back to sleep but I was shaking so much that I couldn't.
Dick's P.O.V.
Beast Boy came running into the common room still in his pajamas and looking around frantically. His eyes landed on Cyborg, who was in the kitchen, and ran to him.
"Cy, you gotta come quick. Danny's sick." Beast Boy said. That got my attention and almost instantly I was by Beast Boy's side.
"What do you mean sick?" I asked. Beast Boy turned around to look at me with wide eyes.
"He's throwing up and shivering. I don't know what's wrong with him." Beast Boy said. All three of us raced to Danny's room to see Danny just lying beneath the blankets shivering like crazy. I was by my twin's side in seconds.
"Dick…" Danny tried to say. I shushed him by putting a finger over his lips.
"Just rest little brother; we'll take care of you." I said. Danny nodded and Cyborg lifted him up to take him to the infirmary. Cyborg gently laid him on the bed and Beast Boy and I were by his side. BB was running his through Danny's hair.
"He has a fever." I said resting my cool de-gloved hand on his forehead.
"Right, ice pack, draw blood." Cyborg said under his breath gathering supplies he was going to need. Cyborg grabbed an ice pack and handed it to me and I placed it on my brother's forehead and then he grabbed a needle and a syringe. Beast Boy looked at the needle wearily and then back at Danny and sighed and grabbed Danny's arm to show the crook at the elbow.
We weren't doctors of any kind but Cyborg knew the ins and outs of medical aide so we left it to him. Cyborg cleaned the area that he found a good vein in and stuck the needle in as gently as possible. I saw Danny wince in his sleep and then relax again at both mine and BB's touch. I noticed that the blood Cyborg was drawing out had a green glow to it.
"It's not supposed to do that is it?" BB asked worriedly.
"I'm sure it's just from his powers." Cyborg said. Though I knew that he was going to test it to see if that is exactly what is causing my brother's blood to glow green. We were down there about an hour before Star and Raven found us. They came in only to stop short as they saw Danny on the bed. I looked back at my brother just to see how pale he was. He was almost to the point where he looked like his ghost form.
"What happened?" Raven asked.
"Danny was sick so we brought him down here." Beast Boy said softly.
"He looks like a ghost." Star said.
"He looks like he's been poisoned." Raven said. BB looked up and he had tears in his eyes. I knew how close they came in the few short months they have been together. By this time Cyborg came in looking grave.
"Raven's right, he's been poisoned." Cyborg said.
"So what do we do for him?" Star asked. Raven stepped forward and put a hand on both mine and BB's shoulder's. She looked at us in the eyes.
"I need you to leave me alone with him. I can get the poison out of him, but in order to do it I need to be alone with him with no distractions." Raven said. We nodded and left the room. By this point Beast Boy had tears rolling down his face and I wasn't sure but I would bet I had tears as well.
"Do you think Raven can get the poison out?" Star asked.
"I'm sure she can Star." Cyborg said placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Beast Boy, did he tell you what happened when he was under that man's control?" I asked. Beast Boy shook his head and slid down the wall and rested his arms on his knees and his head on his arms.
"He said that he can't remember anything about being controlled, not even the last time. He said that Sam and Tucker had to tell him what he did." Beast Boy said quietly.
"I was afraid of that." I said quietly. Star then hugged me and I knew now that I had tears sliding down my face.
Almost an hour later Raven stepped out looking exhausted. Her violet eyes were darkened with bags under them. Though she smiled at us, an actual smile, I don't think I have ever seen her smile.
"I got the poison out. Right now he is resting. You can go in and be with him if you want. I need to meditate and rest." Raven said. She made to move passed us but I put a hand on her arm.
"Thank you." I said. Beast Boy nodded in agreement and she placed both her hands on both of our arms and squeezed and headed upstairs.
We walked into the infirmary and much to our relief Danny had his color back but he still looked a little pale and he was breathing deeply. Beast Boy walked to his side instantly and kissed his forehead and turned into a kitten and lay down on his chest. I smiled and sat down next to him and gently grabbed his hand.
Beast Boy's P.O.V.
I was relaxing on Danny's chest in the form of a kitten because I wanted to be as close to him as possible without being inside him. I could tell that it was close to dinner time because I could see the night sky and the fact I hadn't eaten anything all day was something my stomach wasn't used to. I looked up to Danny's face to see it still in a peaceful sleep and I was wondering when he'll wake up. I looked over to Robin to see him sleeping in the chair beside the bed.
Suddenly I felt movement beneath me, and it wasn't the movement of Danny breathing. Danny was moving. And right after that he started to scream. I jumped off of him and turned back to myself.
"Shh, it's okay Danny, it's alright. It's just a nightmare." I said. Robin woke up as well and started running his fingers through Danny's hair.
"Easy little brother, the monsters aren't real. Remember what mom told us. They can't hurt us in our dreams, fight back and remember the good things. They alone will defeat the monsters." Robin said. Danny calmed down but opened his eyes and the tears started falling down.
"Dick, BB?" he asked. I nodded but I was wondering who Dick was then I remembered Robin, it must be his name.
"We're right here little brother." Robin said. We helped Danny sit up and I helped him take sips of water from a glass sitting beside the bed. Danny looked around and back at us.
"Where am I?" he asked.
"You're in the Infirmary. You scared me." I said. Danny smiled and brought me towards him in a hug.
"I'm sorry I scared you, but what happened?" he asked. Robin sighed and looked at Danny.
"Freakshow poisoned you when you were with him last night. You've been here since early this morning." Robin said. Danny's blue eyes widened and looked between us. I nodded at his questioning look and he sighed.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't remember. Sam once told me that it was a lot like being in hypnosis." Danny said.
"No one is blaming you Danny. If it wasn't for Raven you might not be here right now." I said.
"I remember her. It was almost like a dream but she was with me." He said.
"She does that. When Cyborg can't heal it she does." Robin said. Danny smiled and nodded.
"I'm hungry." He said.
"I would imagine you tossed it all up last night." I said.
"Beast Boy could you go and get him a bowl of soup. I don't want to risk him throwing anything else up." Robin said. I nodded I didn't want Danny to throw up again.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Chicken noodle soup. It's what mom always made us." Danny said. I sighed but nodded.
"Just this once I will go near meat, but only for you, no one else." I said. Danny smiled and reached over for the water but Robin stopped him. I left the room and headed to the kitchen. I hoped we had chicken noodle soup cans so it would be easier for me to cook it. Cyborg and Star were watching a TV show about traveling and food but I ignored it and went to rummage through our cabinets.
"Yo BB, what are you looking for?" Cyborg asked.
"Danny is awake and hungry. He asked for chicken noodle soup. Do we have any?" I asked. Cyborg got up and went to one of the top cabinets and pulled out a can and gave it to me.
"I keep it up there because it has meat in it and I knew you wouldn't try to take it." Cyborg asked.
"How is Danny?" Starfire asked. I turned to look at her. Her emerald green eyes sparkled with concern.
"He's resting for now. Robin is still with him." I said. I then went about cooking a pot of soup. I found it really easy and once it was ready I put it in a large container to take down with me so it wouldn't spill. When I walked back into the Infirmary Danny and Robin were laughing.
"Hey, you're not supposed to have any fun without me." I said in a pout. Danny looked over at his eyes brightened when he saw the soup.
"Thank you BB." He said. Robin stood up and was getting ready to leave.
"Cyborg is ordering pizza." I said in an undertone. Robin nodded and left us alone. I handed the bowl and a spoon to Danny and sat with him.
"I hope it tastes good. It's my first time making it." I said. Danny took a sip from the spoon and smiled.
"It tastes good, thank you." He said. We sat there and talked about anything and everything until we both fell asleep again in the bed.
