The Legend of Peter Pan
Alright, who loved the last chapter? I just had to introduce Tinkerbell sometime and I figured that chapter ten was the best one to do it. Unfortunately, Tinkerbell will not be seen for a while (which just might be a huge while), but I can promise that we will see her again. Besides, every Peter Pan must have Tinkerbell involved somehow.
Okay, I know that a lot of you are wondering when exactly Peter and the others will make it to Neverland and I promise we will get that soon, just not yet. I want to go more behind a few characters, specifically the Lost Boys, to build up character development and maybe even explore some of their pasts.
In speaking of characters, I have a new character that I will be introducing to this story, one who is going to be based off a friend of mine. Her name is GeekyZoee and she a friend of mine. Some of you might remember her from my other story "Jumper: Cent's Story". Her character is going to be named Zoe (yes, just like in the other story she was in), but I am going to change a few things about her from how I did her in the "Jumper" story. Please give her a round of applause and review afterward on how you like her character. And please be nice, she is a friend of mine. ;)
Here you go ladies and gentles! Chapter eleven! Enjoy!
Chapter Eleven:
The Lone Wolf
Killian made his way back to his hideout, taking the long way as before. He walked into the jungle without fear or hesitation. He had his axe and sword ready in the palm of his hands, prepared for any attack.
Striking down the tall grass and moving between huge trees, Killian was like a ghost in the wild. Or rather like a lone wolf in the wild.
Killian always preferred to be alone. It was just something he was used to, nothing more. He made it his business to be his nature of being alone.
Suddenly, Killian heard a noise.
Crack!
Stopping in his tracks and ducking down, Killian remained still and listened his surroundings. He closed his eyes and brought both his axe and sword against his chest. He continued to listen.
"How far do we have to go?!" complained someone to Killian's right, about a couple hundred feet away.
"Until we find the tribe village or when you die!" responded a voice, full of authority and anger.
Killian recognized that voice and silently growled to himself. He had run into his worst nemesis. Someone he hoped he would never see again.
"What does this tribe mean anyway?" a third man commanded to know. "How does Hook even know this tribe will help him gain what he seeks?"
"Because he just does!" the voice shouted. "Now shut up or I'll run my sword into her neck and make you die a slow, pain death!"
That was more than enough to make all of them become silent.
Killian moved through the grass to get a better look at the fellow trespassers who were in his territory. With one eye peeking out at group of seven pirates, Killian instantly recognized the one who was in charge, the one who was his biggest nemesis.
William Slank stood in front of the six pirates, staring deep into the jungle, listening to his surroundings.
Killian saw Slank smile to himself.
"We are not alone boys," he said. "Someone is here with us."
"Who?" one of the pirates said too loudly.
Slank spun around, drew his sword, and drove the point of the sword into the pirate's gut, driving it all the way through. The other end of it was dripping of blood and the pirate struggled to breath, losing focus and starting to fall to his knees. Slank pulled his sword out of him and allowed his body to fall to the ground, completely dead.
"If anyone else speaks or even makes the smallest sound, will suffer the end of my sword and left to rot here!" Slank yelled at the rest of them.
The others diverted their eyes and backed away.
Smiling to himself again, Slank walked over to the nearest tall grass and began to cut through it.
"Search around!" he ordered. "Whoever it is can't be far and I have a feeling that we just might have another hostage to bring back to Skull Rock!"
The other pirates drew their own swords and began searching all around them, cutting down tall grass.
Killian remained where he was and waited for the opportunity to either make an escape or make his move against them. He wasn't scared of Slank, even after what he just saw him do. Besides, he had faced worst than him. A lot worse.
Seeing a small dark corner behind a tree, Killian silently made a move for it, making sure he didn't leave any tracks or make any noise. When he reached the dark spot of the tree he pressed his back against the trunk of the tree and slowly moved up against it. As he stood straight up he was still concealed by the darkness that the tree made. The moon light shined bright right in the area that Slank and the pirates were at, which didn't help them adjust to the darkness that was in front of them. Killian was used to darkness. In fact, he was born in it and pretty much raised himself in it. He used the darkness to his advantage and the light against others.
A pirate moved his way, completely unaware that he was hiding just a couple feet away from him.
Killian drew small, quiet breathes and waited. He placed his axe and sword against the tree, and then took out a small man-made knife.
When the pirate turned his back, Killian made his move and grabbed ahold of him, one hand against his mouth and the other with the small knife against his throat. He forced the pirate to back up against the tree with him, making sure they were both out of sight. With full force he cut the pirate's throat, clean cut. He continued to hold his hand against his mouth and waited until the pirate fell silent and still.
Killian silently lowered the body against the tree and made sure it was well out of sight from the others, who were completely oblivious to what was going on. Picking up his axe and sword, he held them professionally in his hands. He moved to the other side of the tree and listened carefully to what was going on.
"Hey, what happened to Starkey?" one pirated yelled.
"Do I have to run you down too?!" Slank yelled back at him. "What about Starkey?!"
"Well, he's just... gone..." another pirate said.
"Then find him!" Slank yelled with complete anger.
Killian heard two of the pirates heading right for him. He didn't have a way to evade them and couldn't move to the other side of the tree without making a sound they can hear.
Just as the two pirates were just a couple of feet away from discovering him, Killian made a decision and ran out of his hiding spot, his weapons well prepared.
The two pirates were completely taken away by his presence but quickly recovered. They readied their swords and made the first move. One brought his sword down and the other swung his to the side.
Killian used his sword to block the on-coming strike from above and swung his axe against the other side from the side. He quickly ran behind them and turned around, facing their backs. He drove his sword through the back of one pirate and drove his axe into the spine of the other.
Discharging his weapons from the bodies, he watched as they fell to the ground.
Spinning around to face his foes, he readied his weapons for another attack, holding them in a defensive position.
Slank and the last three remaining pirates stood right before him, their weapons drawn as well.
Laughing and smiling at the same time, Slank said, "Nice to see you again. I thought I wouldn't see you again. Been almost a full year since anyone last has seen you."
Killian made no expression and said, "Been keeping to myself for a while."
"Aye," Slank nodded. "A man must spend time to himself before he can be in the presence of others." His grin drew even bigger. "Better have stayed that way... Killian."
"Come closer, Slank!" Killian challenged. "Lets see if you and me can end it right here and now. You've always wanted to kill me."
"True, I do," Slank admitted. "But Hook has ordered me and the others to start taking prisoners. I would love to see you in chains. Not to mention Smee, you remember him."
Dark memories entered Killian's mind as he remembered Smee. That dreadful man.
"How about I send a message back to him. With you dead."
Slank laughed and said, "As much fun as it sounds, I'll pass. But I can promise you a beating of your life."
With a nod from Slank the three pirates began to move in a circle around Killian, covering all of his flanks. Killian knew that he couldn't win against them in this kind of fight. He only got lucky against the other three because he had stealth, surprise, and the right fighting skills to do it. But he couldn't face three pirates on three sides of him. They can easily attack at the same time and he would be finished for good.
Just as the three pirates drew closer to him, something came flying out from the top of the branches of one of the trees. It stuck the pirate on Killian's left. Everyone turned to see what just happened.
A small silver knife had just struck the chest of the pirate and it was directly in the middle of his chest, very clean and professional shot. The pirate fell backwards, with the knife still hanging out of his chest.
Killian, Slank, and the others heard another noise and turned to see a figure falling out of the trees from above. It landed straight on the ground, a perfect landing. The figure had on a black hoodie, concealing it's face. From its sleeves it shot out two silver knives and were sent flying towards Slank and the other two pirates.
The two pirates were hit directly in the throat by the knife and fell to the ground with a thud from both of them.
Slank deflected the third knife with his sword and suddenly turned to run.
Killian lowered his axe and sword, remaining where he was.
He wanted to go after Slank and end him. But another part of him wanted to find out just who his savior was. He had to pay his thanks and then make his way back to his hideout.
Killian turned to where the person with the hoodie was at and walked towards the person.
"Thanks," he said. "And you would be?"
The person removed the hoodie and showed its face to him. It was a girl with long, black hair and a small purple flower on the right-hand side of it. Her eyes were dark brown, but they almost looked like they were just dark.
Killian didn't show any expression. He instantly knew who it was and he wasn't completely surprised. Nothing could surprise him anymore.
"Hello, Killian," the girl said with a smile. "Glad to join the party. I figured you could use my help."
Killian placed his weapons back on his belt and said, "Thanks again for the help, Zoe. I was almost a goner there."
"You know, I think I won this round here," Zoe teased. "I killed three pirates and you only killed two."
"It's a tie, actually," he corrected her. "We both killed three."
"What?! No way! I only counted two on your part!" Zoe argued.
"Behind the tree, look very closely," Killian pointed towards where the body was.
Zoe saw it almost immediately and stamped her foot against the ground.
"Just when I thought I beat you! We need to have a match on who can kill the most pirates, Killian. I want to see whose better at this."
"Of it makes you feel better, I think you are the best," Killian said.
Zoe raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are you teasing me? Because I can show you whose boss right here, right now."
Killian rolled his eyes and asked, "What are you doing here anyway?"
Zoe came closer to him.
"I was just in the neighborhood," she explained. "I heard the fighting and came right away." She suddenly came right at him and gave him a hug. "It has been almost a year since anyone has seen you. Even Lucy has told me all about it."
The one thing about Zoe is that despite how violent and badass she may be, she was a hugger. Never could resist giving a hug to those she considered friends.
Killian pulled away from her and said, "I've been sticking to the northern side of the island, built a new hideout there."
Zoe's eyes lit up, she grabbed his left shoulder and said, "Are you nuts?! That side of the island is more dangerous than the crocodile and the pirates."
"I know. That is why I went there. I needed to get away from all of this."
"But you're back now, right?" Zoe asked him with curiosity. "The whole ordeal with the pirates is getting worse and even I know that we can't ignore any of it."
Zoe was just like Killian. They both were travels. Both lone wolves who stick to themselves and survive on their own.
"Why are you out at this time of the night?" Killian asked.
"I'm on my way to Lucy and the Stranded," Zoe explained. "The pirates raided by hideout and I can't stay on the southeastern side of Neverland anymore. The pirates are getting desperate."
"Not safe to travel right now," Killian looked up at the sky. "Morning is almost here and I need to get back to my hideout right now. The pirates always seem to make their patrol travels during the late mornings and evenings. Only midday and midnight seem to be safe now."
"Speak for yourself," Zoe raised her eyebrow again. "You seem to break your own rules."
"I'm making my way back to my hideout," Killian said to her. "You're welcome to spend the night and make your travel later to Lucy later on."
Zoe's eyes lit up and gave him another hug, squeezing hard.
"Thank you! Thank you!" she shouted in excitement as she let go of him. "I've been waiting to get some beauty sleep for some time now! Lets get going!"
Killian shook his head and began to lead the way to his hideout.
The Legend of Peter Pan
Killian's hideout was actually quite clever and very easy to keep hidden from any enemy. It was located right under a very large tree, with a trap door that goes from the trunk of the tree and into a large underground area. Killian later came to call it "Home Underground", a small joke to it being underground and also being his home. It has served to be a great hideout from the pirates. Killian has another hideout in the northern part of the island, a tree house that is well concealed by the trees and mountains.
Both Killian and Zoe made their way to the hideout, running into pirates along the way but managed to keep themselves in the shadows.
Zoe was once part of the Stranded when she and her parents were stranded on the island some years back. The death of her parents caused her to leave the Stranded and go on her own. She met Killian later on and learned a few things from him. She was also best friends with Lucy, who she visits.
Both Zoe and Killian came to the large tree they have been looking for and searched for the entrance.
"How do you get in again?" Zoe asked as she reached the ground.
"Stay right where you are," Killian reached for a branch and pulled it down like a lever.
"Wha..."
Before Zoe could finish what she was going to say the ground opened up and both her and Killian fell through a large tunnel, going down it like a slide.
They landed on their feet and looked up to see the trap door closing above their heads, sealing the trap door shut again.
"That was awesome!" Zoe yelled. "Lets go again!"
Killian shook his head and walked away from her. He picked up a torch and lit it up with the small lantern that was on the small table right next against the wall. He began to walk around the large room, using the torch to light up a series of other torches that were hooked up against the wall. They lit up the room like the sun.
"Wow!" Zoe said with amusement. "You really have done well for yourself."
Killian ignored her and walked over to a table, where he sat his weapons down.
"Can I ask you something?" Zoe asked.
"What?"
"Why did you come back?"
Killian stopped what he was doing and remained still. He didn't respond to her question.
Zoe walked closer to him and said, "You were safe from the pirates in the north and then you come back when things get really bad down here. I'm just curious as to why."
Killian looked up at her and said, "I figured I could I check up on everyone. I just arrived a few days ago. I might head back north in a couple of days soon."
Zoe nodded and lowered her head.
"You know, Lucy sees you like a brother," Zoe said. "And I know you see her like a sister. Its natural to actually worry for someone and come to check up on 'em."
"Who said I came back to check up on Lucy?"
"No one did. I can just see it in your eyes." She touched his shoulder. "I'm going to help Lucy and the Stranded against the pirates. I'm going to them tomorrow. In desperate times like this, we need to stick together and fight together. Hook needs to be stopped."
"You don't know Hook like I do," Killian said back. "I was once held prisoner by him. He took everything from me, including his second-in-command Smee and also William Slank. All three of them have played a part in my history. Besides, no one can stop them."
"Don't say that," Zoe fought back. "Hope is everything to us in the end. When evil is at its strongest there is always another force that comes to defeat the darkness."
"Not this time. I can't help you guys. I'm on my own. A lone wolf."
Zoe took her hand off his shoulder and said, "Hook took something from you. What was it?"
"Not what," Killian said in a harsh tone. "Who, is the better question. But that's something I don't want to talk about. My past is my own and so is yours. We all have our secrets."
Zoe nodded and asked, "Where can I sleep for the night?"
"In my room," Killian replied. "I'll sleep outside in the leaves. The tree itself will keep me safe and out of sight. I made a small area in the leaves of the tree that can support three people."
"Thank you for this Killian," Zoe smiled and began to walk to the bedroom. She stopped and turned around to say, "You know, it isn't such a bad idea to allow yourself to be loved. Lucy loves you like a brother and so do I. Even Leonard sees you as a son. Take my advice and spend the time with them as you can. Being alone never completely makes you feel full. It just numbs the pain. Trust me, I know."
With that said, Zoe disappeared into the bedroom, closing the wooden door behind her.
Killian stood there for a while, taking in what Zoe had told him.
He soon walked up a staircase that led a opening behind a rock, just a few feet from the tree. He climbed the tree to that certain he made and lay down under the stars. He then allowed a great sleep to over take him. To take him away from his own pain.
Give it up for Zoe everyone! We will be seeing more of her during the story and I hope that you all like her character. Please check her out on her own profile (GeekyZoee). She has some great stories to offer. ;)
I wanted this chapter to go into a little bit of Killian and also Zoe. They both have a brother-sister relationship, in a way.
I would love to thank Rose for her support for this story and also for the amazing reviews as well. You rock Rose! ;)
I am sorry for grammar mistakes and other stuff that might be wrong with this chapter. I'm still a rookie at this story. ;)
Please a review! I want to read some! :)
