Pirate Gyrl- Joe is a bit of a hypocrite. I'm not sure if he'll be able to redeem himself. Only time will tell.
The Dyson- Thank you! Usually, surprises are the normal in my stories. Lol. Most people don't see them coming. It's actually quite fun to write! I know I haven't updated in a long time, and I'm super sorry about that!
trudes1983- Thank you! I'm sorry it took so long to update. I'm working on getting back into it. :)
Z123- Here you go!
ThePurpleCrayon- Thank you! That's a great compliment!
Lisa looked up at her father. "You tased me?" Not in her entire life had her father ever lifted a hand to hurt her. Not one smack, not one pinch, not even one poke. "What is wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with you?"
Lisa took a minute to stand. "As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with me. There's something wrong with every guy in my life though!"
"There's nothing wrong with me." Her father grabbed her hand and lead to her to couch. As soon as she sat down, she snatched her hand out of his. "Everything I've done, I've done for your safety. And look at how you repay me." He gestured towards the front door. "You try to leave me."
"Well excuse me if I don't want be locked up in a house."
Her father nodded at one of the guys that had grabbed Lisa and brought her here. She hadn't even seen him there. "Thank you, Alec, for getting my daughter to me. Please stand guard at the door."
"What does he have to stand guard for?" Lisa asked as she looked around, making sure there was no trouble brewing.
Her father looked at her with a straight face. "To make sure you don't leave."

Jackson had been driving for hours. Without knowing where these people took Lisa, he had no idea where to start looking. Frustrated didn't even begin to cover what he felt right now. Countless times he had punched the steering wheel. He noticed that since Lisa had been back in his life, he'd been doing that. Maybe if he had left her alone, then she would have just set up her dad's funeral, attended, then went back to California without any incident. What if he was the reason she was in danger right now.
Instead of dwelling on what could be the reason for her being taken away from him, he decided to drive to one of the safe houses that was closest to his location. If she wasn't there, then he would have to go to the next one. At least until he got a call back from Seth.

"Why can't I leave?"
Joe put his hand on her knee. "You're still in danger."
Her father wasn't making any sense. Yea, he had told her that she was in danger, before he joined the agency. "I thought you took care of that."
"I meant Jackson. You're in danger from him."
Lisa rolled her eyes. Other than Jackson occasionally shaking her, or choking her, he hadn't really hurt her. Except for the morning of the red eye when he tried to kill her at her house. "Jackson married me to protect me."
"And I joined the agency to protect you."
Why were the men in her life so complicated? Why didn't she just stay in California? "You were really going to let me think you were dead, huh? Just so you could protect me?" Her father nodded. "You know, I moved away and changed my name for a reason. I even put myself at risk of being found by calling you and keeping in touch."
"I know."
"No. You don't know, dad. Jackson knew where I was the whole time. He knew my name. He knew everything and he still didn't come get me." Lisa played with her hands. "If Jackson didn't come get me, how do you know the threats were real?"
"I just do."
She shook her head and stood up. "Dad, that's the thing. You don't know. If someone was coming after me, it would have been Jackson. No one else." Joe tried to answer, but he had nothing to say. "I was the one who ruined his plan. The one who took him down."
"I helped."
Lisa let out a little laugh. "Yes, you did. The point here dad, is that if someone from the agency wanted me, it would have been Jackson, and he would have come to get me right after he got out of the hospital."
Joe stood up next Lisa. "How's his scar?" Lisa narrowed her eyes, silently questioning what her father was asking her. "His throat. His chest or shoulder. Wherever the bullet him."
"I wouldn't know."
"How would you not know? You spent the last four or five days with him."
"I have, I was probably sleeping for two of them? But as for the scars, I didn't pay attention to them." Sure, the scar from her putting the pen through his windpipe was visible. She didn't notice it though. It wasn't the first thing on her mind when she saw him again. "And I wouldn't even know about the scars on his chest or shoulder. He hasn't taken his shirt off since I've been with him." She could see her father visibly relax. "Dad, we only got married. We didn't have sex, and if I can help it, we won't."
"I'm glad to hear." He walked over to the stairs. "But I know you won't."
"How?"
"Because you're not leaving this house ever again."

Jackson finally got a call from Seth. "Give me some good news."
"I wish I could."
"Are you going to tell me that you have no news at all?"
Seth cleared his throat. He was not ready to tell Jackson this at all. "No, I have news. It's just not good."
"Stop messing around and tell me what you have."
"You know the saying, 'Don't shoot the messenger'?" Jackson said yes. "Well, it applies to me."
"Just get on with it! I need to find her."
"The agency took her and brought to her a safe house. I bet you already knew that though." Jackson growled. "Okay, okay. Sorry man. I shouldn't even be telling you this."
"I don't care. Just tell me what safe house!"
Seth sighed. "Man, I can't even tell you that. It's on lock down so you won't find out."
"Then do what you need to, to find out where my wife is!"
"Whoa man, Lisa Reisert is your wife? When did that happen?"
Jackson was ready to throw his phone out the window. "It's Lisa Rippner now, and yesterday." Seth started stuttering. "Listen, you know that wives and kids are not to be messed with!"
"I have nothing to do with this man, I swear!"
Jackson stepped on the gas. There was a safe house in every state, and if he had to, he would search them all. "I know that Seth, I just need you to remind someone there of that fact." He took the exit to head to a small town in Georgia. "What can you tell me? Other than she's in a safe house?"
"All I know is that it's either in Texas, Florida, or Georgia."
Jackson said thank you and hung up. "Don't worry my love. I'm coming for you."
