Nowaki woke up at around noon. Last night he had fallen asleep on the couch. He got up and walked into the bedroom

When he looked at the bed he saw that Hiroki wasn't there. Nowaki looked in every room and still didn't find him.

Then he noticed the Hiroki's briefcase and shoes where gone.

Nowaki sighed and walked into the bathroom to take a shower. "He probably left the house early. I don't blame him. If I were him I wouldn't want to spend the day with me either… I need to talk to Maki."

Hiroki was at his office doing some paperwork when his phone went off.

He didn't recognize the number but answered it anyway. "Hello?"

"Um… hi. It's Tsumori."

Hiroki was shocked, "H-how did you get this number?"

"Last week Nowaki called you from my phone, but I called to say… I'm sorry."

Hiroki stayed quiet to listen.

"I wanted to apologize for what happened last night. It was wrong and I shouldn't have done it."

"Then why did you?"

"I don't know. I guess I saw there waiting for Nowaki and got jealous…"

"What were jealous of?"

"I was jealous of you."

"Why?"

Tsumori paused, "Because… you have Nowaki."

Hiroki didn't know what to say.

"Nowaki is a great person and anyone would be lucky to have him. You're the lucky one Hiroki, don't take advantage of that and don't push him away. He called me last night and yelled at me. I know I deserved it but Nowaki never yells at anybody."

Hiroki thought and agreed that it was rare for Nowaki to yell, his was too nice of a person.

"You are so special to him and it's my fault you're mad at him. So don't be mad at him, be mad at me. I'm the one to blame."

"…Thank you for telling me this."

"The last thing I wanted to do was hurt either of you. I just let my emotions get the better of me. Go fix this with Nowaki before it gets worse." Tsumori hung up.

Hiroki ran his hand through his hair and sigh. He grabbed his stuff and hurried out of his office.

Nowaki walked through the door to the small diner.

Maki was standing behind the bar when she noticed Nowaki. "Hey. Come sit down."

Nowaki came in, sat down in one of the stools and dropped his head on arms on the counter. "Ugh!"

"So judging by the way you just walked in here I think something is wrong, yes?"

"What do you think?"

"What happened? And you still haven't told me want happened on Wednesday. How did your anniversary go?"

"That's where it all starts." Nowaki sat up. "So the anniversary was… fine. We got to the restaurant and they had put my reservation for the wrong day. So we ended up going to a sushi place instead, which is fine but then we went to an ice cream shop and I realized that I forgot the damn ring in my dresser."

Maki walked around the bar and sat down next to him. "Aw sweetie. I'm sorry."

"I mean it's just such a stupid mistake. It was the main thing I wanted to do that night and I forget this?" He pulled out the black box and put it on the bar. "And then to make it worse Tsumori decided to pull a little stunt last night."

"Oh, no. What did he do?"

"So Hiro-san was waiting by the hospital gates to pick me up, which I didn't know he was going to do, and where he was sitting he could see into the locker room window. I walked over to the window and then Tsumori walked up next to me and then… he kissed me."

"What?"

"Yeah and he even waited 'til Hiro-san was watching to do it. Now Hiro-san is so mad at me and I don't know what to do. I mean what if I had already asked him to marry me and then Tsumori did this. Hiro-san would have thrown the ring back in my face." Nowaki ran his hand through his hair, ready to have a break down.

"Ok Nowaki calm down."

"I can't calm down. I love him so much and I can't bear to lose him. And that might happen soon."

"Well why don't you tell him all of this?" Maki put a hand on Nowaki's shoulder.

"Because he won't listen to me. He was even gone when I got up this morning. He doesn't even want to see me right now. How am I going to fix this? How am I going to ask him to marry me now?"

"You can just ask."

Nowaki slowly turned around to see the last he expected to be there. Hiroki.

"Hiro-san… uh…" Nowaki couldn't speak.

"You can just ask."

Nowaki looked at Maki.

She put up her hands in defense, "I swear I didn't know he was here."

Nowaki turned back to Hiroki. "How much of that did you hear?"

Hiroki took a few steps closer. "All of it. I was sitting right there."

"Listen what happened with Tsumori, I swear it wasn't-"

"I know."

"You do?"

"Yeah Tsumori called me and took responsibility. He said that I shouldn't be mad at you. He said I should be mad at him… and he is right. I think deep down inside I knew that you wouldn't do something like that but when I saw it happen I didn't know what to think."

"I'm sorry."

"I know but… I'm sure there was something you wanted to ask me."

Nowaki didn't know what Hiroki meant until he turned around and Maki pointed at the ring box.

"Oh."

Maki grabbed the box and tossed it over to Nowaki.

"Ok um… well."

"Wait." Hiroki motioned with his eyes for Nowaki to kneel down on the ground. Nowaki followed Hiroki's eyes to the ground and finally understood what he had to do.

He knelt down on one knee. Nowaki though his heart was going to jump out of his chest.

"Well… ha I'm sorry. Honestly I have never been this nervous before."

Hiroki just stood there looking down at Nowaki, he stayed quiet.

"I'm sorry about Tsumori and what he did. I'm glad you know that I would never do something like that and I promise I never will… I meant to do this Wednesday night after dinner; on our anniversary but I wasn't thinking clearly and I forgot the ring. So lately I have been panicking not knowing when I would get a chance to. Hiro-san ever sense the moment I saw you I have only wanted to make you happy. You're the most important person to me."

Hiroki's eyes slowly started to tear up and his vision was blurred.

"I love you more than anything else Hiro-san. I really do. And… I want to spend the rest of my life with you… So Hiroki will you…" Nowaki took a deep breath and swallowed hard. "Marry me?" Nowaki felt like his heart stopped as he waited.

Hiroki's lip quivered as he tried not to cry. He looked away for a moment and then looked down at Nowaki, "Of course, idiot."

Nowaki jumped up and pulled Hiroki into an embrace and slightly picked him up of the ground.

Hiroki wrapped his around Nowaki's neck with a tight grip.

As Nowaki let Hiroki down on the ground he pulled Hiroki into a long, passionate kiss. As they kissed Nowaki opened the box and took out the ring. When they parted Nowaki grabbed onto Hiroki's left hand. He slipped the ring on, almost on the verge of tears.

"Oh my god…"

Nowaki and Hiroki snapped out of their own little world and looked over at Maki, who was crying.

"Why are you two so freaking cute together? I can't take it."

Nowaki laughed, "Oh Maki…"

She whipped her face and walked around the bar. She pulled out a glass, green bottle. "Champagne?"

Nowaki smiled and looked over at Hiroki. "I don't know. Do you think you can handle it?"

"Shut up. I'll be fine."

The End.
