Geez, Yumihat! Where have you been?! You fell off the face of the planet! I thought that you gave up on this story!
I know, I know. It's been a long time since I updated and I'm sorry. You can't blame me though. I had a severe case of writers block!
You know what though? I gave myself a good slap in the face, gave myself a few motivational speeches, ate a few sugary Popsicles, and got it done!
You're welcome.
"Father! I have returned!" Minato loudly stated in a very high-pitched voice that almost made your ears bleed. Minato reached out his arms to capture Akihiko in a hug. Unsure as to what was going on, the boxer gave Minato a small shove. Minato took a step back and his arms returned to his side as he innocently looked at Akihiko. "Father...Are you not happy that I have returned?" He questioned.
"...F-Father?" Akihiko quietly questioned as you tried to hold in your giggles. Junpei's mind strayed from his delusional fire-making at the sound of Akihiko's confused voice. "I-I'm not your father..." Akihiko grumbled softly.
Minato's look of confusion turned into a small, joking smile. "Of course you are! You are King Akihiko, ruler of Minatosajerkville!" He happily explained as if Akihiko had gotten to the age where you start to forget everything. You heard a few soft chuckles from Junpei mix in with your muffled giggles as you both witnessed the situation you had created.
"U-Um..." Akihiko hummed nervously, not even sure what to say.
"Father...Do you remember fighting a bear? What did it look like? Was it big or small? Was it a grizzly bear or-"
"A bear...? What are you talking about?" Akihiko questioned, surprised by his words.
"Sister has told me about a wonderful tale where you tried to defeat a bear and save the village...Do you not remember the event?" He questioned.
Akihiko shot a glare in your direction. Although his eyes were practically shooting daggers into your soul, you couldn't stop your giggles. "No, actually. I don't recall that happening." Akihiko mumbled in a almost hostile voice.
Despite the male's anger, Minato smiled happily and his eyes glimmered with excitement as he spoke. "Don't worry! I remember the tale almost word-for-word."
"...Great." He mumbled sarcastically.
"Okay, so...It was a cloudy day...or was it sunny? Maybe it was raining? Was there a storm?" Minato muttered questions to himself while he tried to recall the story you had told him while riding the deer with him.
"...Just get on with it..." Akihiko grumbled quietly.
"Ah! I remember now! The sky was covered in trees so you couldn't tell if it was sunny or not. We'll just say that it was partially cloudy." Minato said with the same excited smile. "Anyways, you were deep into the woods, looking for a bear who had attacked some villagers. When you found the bear, you bravely fought it with your bare fists and-"
"...And I won?" Akihiko interrupted the story to quietly insert his question.
Minato's look slightly darkened. "No, of course not. You were fighting with your bare fists! Why on earth would you win against a bear?! You were all scratched up and you got a few scars from it too and-"
"Then what happened?" Akihiko questioned, not wanting to hear anymore about how poorly he had lost to the bear.
"Prince Iori had to go into the woods to save you. He was smart enough to actually bring a sword with him." Minato continued. Akihiko turned pale as Junpei and yourself laughed harder. Junpei paused his laughter to make a witty comment on how he saved Akihiko and how much smarter he was for bringing a weapon, but Minato continued speaking before Junpei could utter a word. "...But Prince Iori wasn't smart enough to outsmart the bear in combat and was also defeated by the bear." Minato added, still smiling brightly. Junpei's mouth flew open and Akihiko began to chuckle at his reaction.
"Are you serious?!" Junpei loudly exclaimed, not knowing what to think about the ridiculous story.
Minato's attention quickly turned to Junpei. Minato's expression faded into a lovesick stare. In fact, you could've sworn that you could see literal hearts in his eyes. Junpei uncomfortably shifted his weight in response to Minato's stare. "My prince!" Minato shouted like an excited schoolgirl.
"YOUR prince?!" Junpei yelled back in response.
"Ahem..." You cleared your throat, gaining everyone's attention. "Princess Crystal, aren't you going to finish the story?" You questioned, not wanting a made up tale as great as this to go to waste.
Minato looked away from Junpei long enough to finish telling the story. "Right! So, my charming prince lost to the bear and so sister had to go into the woods and save you both. She defeated the bear and carried you both back to the castle! Isn't she amazing?!" Minato happily finished. Junpei and Akihiko stared at your grinning face in disbelief as Minato continued to stare at Junpei with loving eyes. "Now, as I was saying, my prince!" Minato shouted again, tackling Junpei onto the ground.
"Wha-Wait! Ow! You're crushing my bones! Cut it out!" Junpei yelled as a result to Minato's super tight hug. Just looking at Junpei's pain, you could tell that it was stronger than any hug even Superman could give.
To Junpei's relief, Minato released him from the tight hug and stood up about five seconds later. Junpei stood up as well, trying to capture the breath that the surprise hug had stolen from him.
"What the hell?!" Junpei exclaimed.
Minato smiled happily. "I'm back, my prince!" He shouted. Minato looked at Junpei's confused and painful face and his expression darkened some. "What's wrong? Did I hug you too hard? I'll be more careful next time." He muttered quietly.
"No! I'm not your-" Junpei began to explain to the confused teen the reality of the situation, but was interrupted.
"Ah. So you like it rough? Alright then, next time I'll make sure I hug you harder!" He happily stated.
"No! I'm not-"
"Wait...So do you want a hard hug or a soft hug? You are so confusing..." He muttered.
"Forget about the hugs!" Junpei yelled. "I'm not your prince!"
Minato tilted his head to the side like a confused puppy. "Why not?" He questioned.
"B-Because that's just...! It's weird!" Junpei explained nervously.
Minato glared angrily at Junpei. "Are you saying that I'm too weird for you? Are you breaking up with me because I'm too weird?!" He asked, cheeks puffed out in anger.
"We were never-" Junpei let out a sigh. "Yeah...I'm breaking up with you..." He mumbled, playing along with Minato's current mindset.
"I can't believe this! After all I've done for you!" Minato angrily yelled, turning his back to Junpei.
Feeling a bit guilty and harsh, Junpei touched the male's shoulder gently. "I'm sorry...I know this is hard for you but-"
"Hard on me?" Minato repeated. "Why would it be hard on me?" He questioned.
"Well...I broke up with you." Junpei explained.
Minato turned around and faced Junpei. "So? I'm the princess of this kingdom. YOU'RE the one who should be crying. Now that you aren't the prince anymore, I can command you to do anything I want." Minato replied in a snobbish tone.
"Wait, so you aren't upset?!" Junpei shockingly asked. After all, who wouldn't be upset after being dumped by Junpei? Or at least, that's what Junpei thought.
"Of course not. I'm too awesome to date a loser like you anyway. Now, I ban you from the kingdom forever." Minato casually stated.
"B-Banned?!"
"Yep. Bye-bye." Minato sang, waving farewell to the male.
Junpei's eyes grew, noticing that Minato was not kidding. He really wanted to see Junpei walk into the woods and live like a barbarian. Junpei, no longer wanting to play along with Minato, picked up a stick. "That's it!" Junpei angrily mumbled, lifting the stick above his head.
"What are you doing, peasant?" Minato questioned blandly.
"I'm going to kill you! Down with the princess!" Junpei screamed, bashing the stick upon Minato's head with a large amount of force. Minato's body fell immediately like a house of cards. You and Akihiko stopped laughing and surrounded Minato's body.
"You finally did it Junpei. You finally snapped and killed him." Akihiko grumbled.
"It wasn't my fault! You saw how he was acting! I'm innocent!" Junpei exclaimed as if he were trying to convince himself that he was innocent.
"Really? Last time I checked, you were the one who knocked him on the head." Akihiko argued.
"Yeah, but-"
"Should we burry the evidence before the police get here?" You questioned, really not wanting to get arrested.
"No, they'd find him eventually." Akihiko commented.
"Maybe we should burn the evidence then. In all the cop shows I've seen, if the killer burns the evidence, it makes it harder on them." You suggested, staring down at Minato's body.
Junpei couldn't believe that you and Akihiko were actually taking about hiding the evidence. His heart was beating too fast at the fear of being arrested to have a second thought on the conversation. Junpei ran over to his pile of sticks and violently rubbed two rocks together. To his surprise, a fire actually started. Junpei, Akihiko, and yourself stared at the fire with wide eyes. Junpei actually did it. He made a fire.
"Ha ha! I told you that I didn't need my persona!" Junpei exclaimed happily. He picked up the stick he had used to attack Minato and lit one end of it like a torch. He walked back over to Minato's body and leaned down to light him on fire.
"Wait! What if he's still breathing?" You questioned.
"We can't take that chance." Junpei argued.
"Should we say a few words?" You asked.
"Yeah, but only one sentence. We need to keep it short and leave the scene as soon as possible."Akihiko stated. "Junpei, you go first since you killed him."
"Alright. Dude, you were a cool guy and all, but you acted crazy so...I'm sorry." Junpei muttered, taking off his hat in respect. "Akihiko?"
"You were a great leader and friend." Akihiko quietly added. "Your turn."
"I told you not to eat those mushrooms." You stated. Akihiko and Junpei both looked at you, about to question you about the mushrooms, but they were interrupted before they could say anything.
"Uhg..." A small grunt left Minato's lips. The three of you immediately realized that he was alive. Junpei placed his hat back on his head and threw the torch on the ground, stomping the flame out.
Minato slowly sat up and rubbed his head, a few painful grunts leaving his mouth. "Minato?" You questioned, wondering if he was back to normal.
"What do you mean "Minato?" He questioned quietly, doing a horrible impersonation of your voice. "Of course I'm Minato! I have blue hair, don't I?" He questioned. "God, my head hurts...What happened...?" He asked.
"I'll explain it to you later." You replied with a smile.
"O-Okay..." Minato uneasily responded. He stood up and his eyes reached Junpei's fire. "Hey! You actually got a fire going!" Minato commented.
"..." Junpei stayed quiet, refusing to look at Minato.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked.
"I'll explain it to you later." You repeated. "But yeah! Junpei got the fire started without using his persona! Isn't that-" Suddenly, it began to rain and Junpei's flame died down into nothingness. Junpei's mouth fell open in shock.
The rain stopped not even a minute later. Junpei fell to his knees and stared at the pile of wet logs that once harbored a fire. "Why me...?" He hopelessly mumbled to himself.
"You okay?" Minato questioned.
Junpei sighed. "...Just get the fire wood I kept in the tent and use your persona to make the fire." Junpei grumbled.
"You sure?" Minato questioned. Junpei nodded silently and Minato did as told.
Everyone sat around the fire Minato had made, hoping to warm up and dry off from the short rain storm they had encountered. Junpei seemed to have gotten over the whole fire situation, and was cracking jokes like his usual self. Although, the hatted male still refused to even glance at Minato. Minato, who now knew what he had done, also refused to look at Junpei.
Every time Junpei told a joke, everyone would laugh but then when the laughter died down into an awkward silence, you could feel the thick tension between Junpei and Minato.
To ease the painful tension, you spoke up. "Hey, Minato. You should sing me a song." You suggested kindly.
"You hate it when I sing to you." Minato muttered.
"I know. You haven't done it in a while though and I kind of miss it." You explained.
Minato grew a small smirk. "Alright then. What should I sing?" He asked.
"Hmm...How about a cliché campfire song?" You asked. "One that has been used over and over again, like a bad pun."
"Like..." Minato's voice trailed off as he cleared his throat to sing. "Somebody call 911! Shawty fire burning on the dance floor!"
You smiled and sang along. "Woah! I gotta cool her down. She wan' bring the roof to the ground. On the dance floor, woah!"
Akihiko and Junpei tapped their fingers and feet to the song. Junpei also joined in. "She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor! That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor!"
"Come on Akihiko!" You shouted between words.
Akihiko shrugged his shoulders and joined in as well. "She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor! That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor!" Everyone stopped singing suddenly and the world was yet again engulfed in silence.
Then, Minato spoke up. "...Anyone know the rest of the song?" He asked. Everyone shook their heads. "I guess we're singing the chorus again then." Minato stated.
So, for the rest of the night, the four of you sang the chorus part of the song at the top of your lungs and danced around the fire. It seemed that everyone had forgotten about the poison ivy that plagued both you and Minato, the mushroom incident, and the fire Junpei worked so hard to make. The next morning, while you helped the boys pack the car back up, you all agreed that the trip had the same rules as Vegas. What happened at the campground, stayed at the campground.
