Chapter 11: The Big Day
She walked down the aisle, nervously clinging onto her father's arm. Just 2 meters away she was about to be given away to her husband-to-be. As her father kissed her cheek and gave her a quick hug, she nervously took her future husband's hand.
He watched her walk down the aisle nervously. He could tell that she was nervous by the look in her eyes. And as she got closer, he too started to get nervous but excited at the same time. As she walked up the two steps, he took her slightly sweaty palms and smiled as wide as he could.
"We gathered together here in the presence of friends and family to celebrate one of life's greatest relationships - the union between man and woman, which we call marriage," the priest said his bible in hand. "As we join together Temperance and Seeley in this marriage, let us search our hearts for the wisdom of this covenant, which has from ancient times been expressed with those ideas that come from the heart. Ideas like love, loyalty, trust, fidelity, and forgiveness. Let us also decide to share our knowledge of these things with them as they start this journey together. Into this estate these two people come now to be joined. If anyone has any reason why these to shouldn't be married, keep it to yourself, or get out because this is going to happen." The priest was a series of small chuckles from the crowd.
"Do you Seeley Booth take Temperance Brennan to be your lawfully wedded wife until death do you apart?"
"I do." Booth said as he slipped the ring on her left ring finger with a wide grin.
"And do you Temperance Brennan take Seeley Booth to be your lawfully wedded husband until death do you apart?"
In a barely audible whisper she spoke the two words. "I do."
"By the power invested in me by the district of Columbia and the internet, I now pronounce you man and wife."
As they stood holding hands awkwardly, Brennan spoke up and said "Booth, you could kiss me now."
"But he didn't say that." Booth said as the crowd chuckled.
"As usual, she's right, go." The priest said with another chuckle. And as Booth and Brennan shared their first kiss as man and wife, it seemed to have lasted forever. After a few moments, hand in hand they walked down the aisle whilst being showered in flower petals.
"What do you think happens next?" Booth whispered to Brennan.
"Everything that happens next." Brennan said back with a wide grin as they continued to make their way to the reception.
