"Malfoy you stop right there!" she called after him. When he didn't so much as pause she shouted again, "I'll make you stop if you don't!"

He whipped around. When he was inches from her she couldn't help but gulp at the pure anger she saw all over his face. "Don't you ever threaten me again. Do you know what I can do to you? I don't have any qualms about using an unforgivable curse against you, you filthy little mudblood. Everytime you even step close to me I can feel you polluting my air. I'm sick of your sniveling little attitude. I know that McGonagall sent you here to watch over me. I'm not a fool, Granger. If you don't mind, shove off and let me go about my business!"

She couldn't help herself, she tried in vain to hold back her tears. "I'm… I'm sorry, Draco," she managed to bite out through her tears.

Although his face remained a mask of stone, she saw his eyes soften. He spun around quickly and stalked off. She stood outside in the corridor for a few more seconds. Wiping her tears, she shuffled down toward the kitchens, knowing that she couldn't face the Great Hall this morning. As she went about her day, she couldn't help but feel heavier than usual.

Right before she went to dinner, she felt her charm around her neck heat up. Trying to ignore the sensation, she felt it get hotter. With a sigh, she looked at the back. Please meet me in Charms Room 1124.

No. She thought back angrily, tucking it back into her shirt.

Hermione please, I have to talk to you…

Fine.

She went to dinner, very intent on making him wait. She tried quite hard to banter with her friends, but found just about every topic stale. When dinner was finally winding down, she got up. "Hey, Hermione, I couldn't help but notice you were a bit down today at dinner," called Neville after her.

She sighed, "I've just had a lot on my mind, Neville. How are you?"

"I'm pretty brilliant, honestly. Really Hermione, you shouldn't let Malfoy get you down. He's not half as bad as he seems, he's just lost. I know that he seems like a bad guy, but you have to imagine how hes feeling. Think, his dad's in prison, his mom's on house arrest. He was about to be sent to prison too before McGonagall interfered. If we don't have faith in him, how could anyone?"

She stopped walking and looked at her friend, "Neville, why are you saying this?"

"I guess being the odd one out all those years made me really observant. When ever you're around he looks like he wants to say something, but he never does. I think he wants to do good Hermione, he just needs your help."

"Thanks, Neville," she said smiling at him. "I needed that more than you know."

"I know, that's why I said it. Trust me Hermione I notice a lot more about people than they think."

She continued her walk, slowly, to Charms room 1124. He can be a prat, she thought, but I can see the goodness in there too. McGonagall trusted me with this whole thing for a reason. If she had enough faith in us, then why shouldn't I? She resolved herself then and there that no matter what he did or said she would help him become a good guy. She brought her pace up a little more.

When she stood in front of the door, she held up her hand to knock, but before she could, he opened the door. "Thank you for coming, Hermione," he said, none of the malice that she'd heard earlier left in his voice.

"Well, you're just lucky that Neville is observant," she said, brushing him off. She entered the classroom, and saw the walls were covered with pictures and documents. "Wha-what is this?"

"This is my biggest project yet," he said, staring at a photograph of Bellatrix. "Someone is after me, Hermione, someone I was almost positive that Molly Weasley killed last year. Now I'm just trying to figure out why."

"Oh, Draco…" she said with a sigh, "You shouldn't do this to yourself. People don't come back from the dead."

"I don't think she died, Hermione. I think she, like her master had a Horcrux. I think if I find that Horcrux, well her spirit or whatever she is will leave me alone."

She wanted to sigh and tell him that he was being ridiculous, but even she'd realized the signs. "So say I believe you, which I'm not saying I do, but why me?"

He blushed, "Harry."

She couldn't help herself, she choked. "Did you just say Harry? As in Harry Potter?"

"Yeah, look so after the war I sent him an owl, mostly because my mother made me, but for other reasons too. Well I sent him an owl to thank him for saving my life. Well he responded and then we started owling pretty regularly then well we sort of became friends, of a sort. Well when I began thinking she had a Horcrux, I owled him to ask about it. He is way too busy right now working on the aftermath, but well he told me to ask you. I wasn't going to, because I was pretty sure you hated my guts and then yesterday happened and I wasn't so sure. Then she came again and I knew I had to." He said sitting heavily on the only bench in the room.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize! I was just trying to prove that you weren't the only one who could be sexy and mysterious and now this!" she said instantly feeling crushed.

"You think I'm sexy and mysterious?" he said the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.

"You're a tease, Draco Malfoy and we both know it!" she said stomping her foot like a child.

"The same could be said about you, Hermione…" he said. He stood up quickly and was in front of her before she could blink. "You shouldn't tease me so much, little Gryffindor. I'm not always so restrained."

She saw his eyes darken. "Neither am I," she whispered. She stood on her toes and kissed him full on the lips.

He groaned, "Hermione, I can't hold myself back if you… if you…" he whispered, but stopped when she brought her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. Their kiss quickly turned frantic. The back of her legs were hitting the table in the room. It, like the walls, was littered with papers. He swiped them all off.

He lifted her on to the table and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He began to attack her neck, biting and kissing his way down. "Draco," she moaned. He moaned against her neck in response. She pulled up his shirt, untucking it from his trousers. He loosened his tie for her and quickly discarded his shirt behind them. Her hands began to run up and down his back.

When his lips found hers, he began to run his hands underneath her shirt. That soon joined his on the floor. She'd never felt like this before. Sure, she'd had a good shag, but the way he was touching her, the way his lips felt against hers, it was like the connection was stronger than any normal one. One of his hands came up to her hair and pressed her face closer to his. The other was gripping her hip tightly. She briefly thought that he was probably going to leave bruises, but as quickly as the thought appeared she realized she didn't care. She felt him pushing against her through his trousers. She smiled into their kiss and felt him pull back and look at her for a second.

"Hermione, we should stop," he said after she was pretty sure she was incapable of stopping. He pulled further away from her. "I don't want it to be like this."

She frowned at him slightly, trying not to let tears spill from her eyes. "Yeah, okay Draco. I'll just g-go." She bolted off the table and quickly gathered her shirt and bag before sprinting from the room.

"Hermione! Hermione no, come back!" he called after her but she was much too far to turn around now and besides the last thing she wanted him to see were her tears.
