I DO NOT OWN HUSH, HUSH
Beep. Beep. Beep. The alarm clock annoyingly beeped. Scott groaned and rolled over onto his back in his bed and lazily slapped his hand onto the night stand has he blindly felt for alarm clock. He slapped around the night stand a few more times as his hand inched toward the pesky buzzer. Four more slaps and he finally hit the off button on the clock. He slowly sat up and groggily took in his surroundings of his messy room. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his right hand as he planted his feet onto the carpet of his floor and pushed himself off of his bed. Scott raised his arms above his head until he felt his joints pop in his elbows and shoulders. He scratched his bare chest as he staggered out of his room into the hallway.
Scott stumbled into the bathroom, flipped the light on and closed the door. His head was pounding from last nights gig. He stood in front of the grungy sink as he peered in front of the sink. His hair was messy from last night and from sleeping. His eyes were dark with the bags underneath them. He rubbed the back of his hand against his chin. He could feel the stubble that wasn't there yesterday. He moved over from the sink over to the toilet. The lid was broken so it didn't matter whether it was open or not.
After he finished, he stripped himself of his boxer's and started the shower. He stepped in after a few minutes of waiting for the shower water to warm up so that it was scolding hot. He stepped into the shower and he could feel the hot steam caress his muscles and they visibly relaxed. He craned his neck to the one side as he willed the tension to go away. Scott went through the motions of showering as he thought about the events that took place last night.
At his bands gig last night at The Devil's Handbag, it got crazy. He invited his girlfriend Vee to come and watch his band. She was still miserable with the passing of her best friend and Scott thought she needed a distraction from her grief. After Nora passed away Vee wasn't her happy go lucky self anymore. Whenever her and Scott would go out on a date she would be super quiet and Scott would be the one to start the conversations. Scott also noticed the Vee was loosing weight from not eating and not sleeping well. She didn't dress the way she normally did either. She wore a lot of sweat pants and sweatshirts. It wasn't like that when Nora was around. So last night Scott invited her to his gig at The Devil's Handbag. It really wasn't her "scene" but Scott felt the need to get Vee out of the house and to do something. Scott also told her to wear something that didn't involve baggy clothes. When Vee arrived at Scott's apartment door, he was genuinely pleased to see that Vee dressed up for this occasion. Her now under curvy body was dressed in a tight fitting black lacy dress. Her blonde hair was in curly that reached just below her breasts and she wore black heels that made her as tall has Scott. Vee smiled impishly at him. She looked beautiful but the depth of her green eyes were hallow. Scott reached out towards her and brought her into a bear hug. She rested her head onto his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"Baby, you look amazing. But you always look amazing," Scott whispered into her hair as he placed a kiss on top of her head. Vee sighed and looked up at Scott. His hair was disheveled as always. His dark blue eyes were trained onto her green ones. She scanned his face. With the corner of her left eye she could spot the silver hoop that hung from his right ear lobe. Vee loved everything about this boy who stood in front of her. She wouldn't change anything in the world for him. "I love you." She whispered. She leaned in and gently placed a kiss on his lips.
"I love you too," Scott whispered on her lips as he gently kissed her back.
When they arrived at The Devil's Handbag, the rest of Scott's band mates were on the stage setting up. The bar was dimly lit and there were different colored lights hanging every where. The stage was brightly lit. There were a few other people in the bar but none that Vee recognized. These people you could tell that they were at the place quit a bit. They seemed a little rough around the edges. Vee scooted a little closer to Scott and looped her arm through his. Scott placed his hand on her arm and squeezed gently. They were making their way toward the stage.
"Hey guys!" Scott greeted them once they reached the stage. His band mates greeted him back with some type of hello. He let go of Vee's arm and directed her where the stairs were for the backstage. She nodded her head and kissed him on the cheek and headed for the stairs. Scott placed his hands on the stage and hoisted himself up onto the stage. His bass was in it's case backstage. He usually left it with the rest of the instruments that the band mates use in their van. When he reached his bass Vee was there waiting for him. She was sitting on a wooden stool with her legs crossed in front of her. She was patiently waiting for the band to start. Scott reached the case that held his bass. He undid the case and grabbed his instrument by the neck and walked over to Vee. She looked up at him when he bent down and kissed her on the cheek and walked back out onto the stage.
Once Scott was done setting up his amp and tuning Serpentine started to play. More people started to swarm around the stage as Serpentine blasted on through the night. By the time Serpentine was done playing, there was a massive crowd cheering and howling for more. These were the moments that Scott thrived for. His heart was racing and he was covered in sweat from the heat of the lights and moving to the beat of the music. Scott ducked underneath the strap of the bass strap and placed it on the stand. He smiled at the crowd and waved as he walked off of the stage. They only had a ten minute brake until they need to be on the stage again to play for another half an hour. When he reached back stage, Vee was standing waiting for him. She was holding a beer for him that he packed earlier in his car before he left. Scott smiled at Vee and grasped her into a big hug. He lifted her off her feet and spun the both of them in a circle. Vee let out a small giggle and kissed Scott on the cheek. After a second spin, Scott placed Vee back onto her feet.
"You sounded amazing out there," Vee said as she gave Scott his beer. Scott grabbed the bottle and thanked her. She smiled as she looked at him as Scott opened his beer and deeply drank. He brought the bottle away from his lips and smiled back at her.
"So Miss. Sky, may I ask you the pleasure of accompanying me home tonight?" Scott asked as he wrapped his free hand and pulled her closer to his body. Vee giggled and placed her hands on his clothed chest. It was times like this that Scott loved the most about Vee. When she would open up and laugh.
"Possibly Mr. Parnell." She replied with a smile plastered on her face. Scott smiled back at her. Vee slid her hands up Scott's chest and wrapped around his neck. Scott leaned his head forward and Vee met him the rest of the way. Their lips collided with a certain type of urgency. The need for each other was there. Vee opened her lips inviting Scott in. She wrapped her fingers in Scott's hair as their tongues fought for dominance. Scott gripped Vee's dress and pulled her flush to his body as if he was trying to make them one.
"Get a room!" One of Scott's band mates howled as he walked passed. Scott smiled against Vee's lips and pulled away and rested his head against hers. They were both breathing heavily.
"I suppose we'll finish this when we get back to my place?"
Vee only nodded in response. Scott pulled his head away from hers and placed a feather light kiss. He unwrapped his fingers from his dress and headed toward the stage once again. He tipped back his head and chugged the rest of his beer. He set the bottle by the entrance of the stage and walked out. Vee still breathless, walked back over to the stool and sat down. She watched in amazement as she watched her boyfriend play his heart out. His muscular muscles would flew whenever he would strum his bass. His concentration and the way he would move to the music was graceful and mesmerizing, She found herself swaying along to the music from time to time.
Before Vee knew it, Serpentine was done playing and the band members were putting their instruments away. Scott was standing in front of her, dangling the keys in front of her face. She looked up at Scott in surprise.
"Does this mean I get to drive?" She asked as she stood up and grabbed the keys out of his hands. Scott laughed and placed them into her hands.
"No. I'm letting you go sit in the car while I put my bass in the Van. I'll be there in a few seconds." He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Vee smiled as Scott pulled away and walked toward the back door. Vee headed to the front of the bar and into the parking lot. She reached Scott's car and unlocked it. She opened the door of the passenger side of the car. She slid in and shut the door behind her. As Scott said, he shortly got into the car a few seconds after she did. He grabbed the keys out of her hand and smiled at her. He started the car and he raced out of the parking lot...
Scott was out of the shower, redressing himself with his boxer's as he thought about what happened when him and Vee reached his apartment. He smiled to himself as he walked out of the bathroom and headed back to his bedroom. After fooling around in his bed for a few hours, Vee went home because she had to work the following morning and she wanted to be home when her parents woke up.
Scott walked back into his room and threw his used towel into the hamper. He sat down on his bed and thought about the previous night one more time as he smiled. He was rudely knocked out of his daydreaming by the shrilling of his cell phone. He grabbed his phone and looked at the caller ID. It was Patch. Scott's eyes narrowed in confusion. He hadn't heard from Patch in forever.. well since Nora passed away. Scott flipped his phone and answered.
"Cipriano, long time no talk. What's up?" There was silence on the other end. "Hello?"
"Hi Scott."
"Nora?"
