Chapter Eleven - Eego to Nihongo

"How's that your English is so good?" asked George to Kagome. He talked with people at the airport, shops, restaurants and not one of them had the same handle on the English language as Kagome.

She seemed to think very carefully about her words before answering. "I had a lot a free time in High School, most of it spent watching American and British movies and TV shows. I guess it paid off since I found a good job for my language skills. And you, Mr Weasley? How do you speak Japanese just as good as a native?"

She got him with that question. How to explain to a muggle that he was using a translation charm created no other than by his brother's fiancé, Hermione? It was so useful that he bought the idea and sold them in his shop, but instead as a joke item. You say something and it translates to insults and curses. It was his best-selling product last Christmas.

"Extra classes." He grinned.

"You know Japanese and yet you know anything about Dragon Ball, Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist or Spirited Away. Where did you live for the past century? Under a rock?"

"I- spent seven years in a boarding school and then became a drop-out to start my own business and work like a slave in it for two to three years. I guess I missed some things."

They stopped in front of her door. She turned to him, her eyes sparkling with raw excitement.

"Then you need a flash course in 20th and 21th-century pop culture." She winked at him as they entered.

It was his first time inside her home. It was about the same size as his. The walls had some pictures of whom, he guessed, were her family. A kotatsu in middle of the room with some kind of black box on top of it. A TV and another black box over a small table and the kitchen on the left. It was simple but homey. Exactly like Kagome.

She motioned for him to take a seat in the kotatsu. It was not a cold night, so the heating was off. She handed him tea and sat by his side. "I know how to sum up a lot of Disney's movies and some of the most famous games of the past twenty years. Have you ever heard about Kingdom Hearts?"
