I'm Not a Student at an All-Girls' School!

Episode 11: The Truth of the World Tree…

Everyone was shivering from head to toe. Some were already in tears. Who could blame them? It was over, after all. They finally arrived to their final destination. It was the end. For in front of them was the one thing that they never thought they will come across in their whole life. In front of them stood a very decorative door that would soon lead to an even more decorative room filled with wonder and fantasy.

Yes.

In front of the girls of Class 3-A stood their very own completed Haunted House frontal view that took them nearly a week to complete.

"We did it."

"We finally… finished…"

As one, the girls cheered.

"FINALLY! I thought we'd never finish!"

"Uwaah, look at it, it looks so haunted!"

"But the inside is still incomplete…"

"Ah, don't say that, Ayase…"

As the girls cheered on, some of the rather unenthusiastic or rather calm girls chuckles as a few stared at Naruko who was shivering, not in cheer, but in fear.

"A haunted house… why does it have to be a haunted house…?"

Gazing at his students' work in awe, Negi questions, "I heard that during the festival, many people participates?"

"Cause during festival, the area around the World Tree is just that great!" Sakurako answers. "It's very popular too!"

Smiling at the students' enthusiasm for the festival, Negi could only laugh as some of the students runs off to their respective clubs. Others only leaving to get the rest they oh so deserved.

On the other side of the classroom, Asuna stands up to stretch. Feeling the relief feeling of her muscles relaxing, Asuna soon grabs her book bag. "Well, I'm done here!" She announces, leaving the class.

Negi quickly follows her as well as Konoka and Setsuna. Naruko immediately gets up, stuffing her belongings into her bag before chasing her roommates plus one.

"Wawah, h-hey, wait up!"

Watching Naruko catch up with her classmates and teacher, Makie comments, "Naruko-chan's been hanging with Asuna and them a lot, huh?"

"I'll say. It's like they're best friends all of a sudden," Yūna adds her input as Sakurako ponders.

"Hmm… y'know, I remember seeing this hottie who looks like Naruko…"

"WHAT!? Where!? When!? How old was he!? Does he really look like Naruko!?" Yūna asks, trying to get any juicy information. Kazumi blinks, remembering the blonde who supposedly dated Asuna from yesterday.

"Oh, you mean Naruto?"

"You know him!?"

"Yeah, turns out he's Naruko's older brother," Kazumi began, showing a picture of Naruto along with Nagi and Kojirō, "The two next to him are Negi-kun's cousin, Nagi, and a close relative of that kid staying with Īnchō and them, Kojirō."

Surprise went through every student in the class.

"EHH!?"

The five-some ran across the festival preparations, the girls commenting on how the preparations were always the most busiest and the most strangest. Naruko hummed, watching the students and faculty alike dressing up or rehearsing their roles for their parts in the festival.

"Ah, by the way, Asuna!" Negi suddenly interjects. "About Takamichi…"

Asuna almost skips a step as she hops over her mistake. A drop of sweat is visible at the back of her head. "Ah, um… that…"

Grinning sheepishly, she looks back at her friends, showing an "ok" sign.

"Eh!?"

"Really!? Awesome, Asuna!"

"Congratulations, Asuna-san!"

Naruko grins, draping an arm around her fellow twin-tailed girl. "See, I knew you could do it!"

"Don't mention that while in that form, you idiot…!" Asuna berates, mentioning how she just called her crush last night to arrange the date. She then began to freak out, nervous about seeing her crush with another woman at the time of the practice date. As Naruko tries to calm down the girl, the woman in question notices them.

"Ah, Negi-sensei!"

"Talk about lousy timing!" Naruko roars in her head, watching the nurse inform Negi about a meeting that Konoka's grandfather arranged.

"H-hai, I'll meet with Gakuenchōsan at the office, then!"

"The office?" Shizune questions, "Oh no, he required that the meeting be at the clearing in front of the Sekaiju."

"Fweh?"

"The World Tree…?"

"Oh, and if possible, he also wanted Sakurazaki-san and Uzumaki-san to attend as well," Shizune added, turning to the two girls.

"Eh?"

"Alright, sure."

As the girls and teacher bid farewell for now, the teacher, swordswoman and ninja-in-hiding all headed for the clearing in front of the World Tree. Looking around, Setsuna frowned. Taking notice of this, Negi asks, "Eh? Setsuna-san, is there something wrong?"

Setsuna blinked. "Eh? Ah, no, um. It's… it's just strange…" She mutters, Negi tilting his head in confusion.

"Hweh? What do you mean?"

Setsuna frowns further as Naruko comments, "Even though it's the day before the festival, there's barely anyone around, right, Setsuna-san?"

"Exactly."

Negi looks to the left then to the right. "Heeh, now that you two mention it…" He stops, looking at the clearing in front of them, revealing to be several figures, both male and female, gathering around the odd-shaped head of the principal.

"What's that over there?"

"Oh, Negi-kun!" The principal calls out, the rest of the group snapping their attentions to the smaller group in front of them. "We've been expecting you."

"Uwah…" Negi voiced out, seeing Takamichi as well as some people he recognized. The three walk towards the much larger group, Naruko waving at Takamichi as Konoemon clears his throat.

"Negi-kun, the people assembled here, while scattered across the campus, are all mages and mages-in-training, just like you."

"Eh?" Was Negi's oh-so intelligent response.

"EEHHH!?"

"Geez kid, way to lighten up on the yelling?" Naruko questions, trying to unplug her ear , having been the one in front of Negi when he yelled out in surprise. "O-oh, I'm sorry, Naruko-san…" Negi apologizes.

As the magical teachers and students introduce themselves to Negi, some looked at Naruko in confusion, wondering who she was while a few recognized her energy signature. Setsuna was also shocked at how many mages were stationed at Mahora, Naruko mentioning how the school was a large place, so it should be obvious that there should be several mages stationed here.

"Now then," Konoemon started off, "Tonight, we are gathered here because there is a rising problem that has arrived. It shall begin on the first day of the Festival, ladies and gentlemen, so let us use all of our power to defeat it!"

"Interesting…!" Kotarō sounded off, "So who's this super-powerful enemy we're supposed to fight!?"

"EHH!? Another enemy!?"

"It is not like the fieldtrip, Negi-kun, Kotarō-kun," Konoemon interjects, Naruko wondering what happened in the fieldtrip, "It is a serious matter altogether, but not to that extent, mind you. The problem I am mentioning is thus, the legend surrounding the World Tree of unrequited love."

Kotarō scoffed, having heard the legend from his classmates, Negi commenting on how he has also heard it from one of his students, Naruko nodding in remembrance. In the end, Kotarō expressed how he didn't see how it was that big of a problem. To this, Konoemon expressed the truth about the legend.

To say, the four pre-teens and teenagers were shocked beyond belief. "Eh?"

"Seriously…?"

"Not so fast!" Konoemon continued, relaying the duty of the magical staff and faculty to prevent such a thing from happening. This of course was shocking to the newcomers, as half thought it was superstitious while the other half thought that the whole team was preventing wishes from being granted.

"Hohoho, to be brief, the students call it the 'Sekaiju', the World Tree, and take good care of it – bless their hearts – however, it is not just any ordinary over-sized tree," Konoemon continues, inputting a small joke. "It's official and true name is 'Shinboku Bontō', a tree that houses a frighteningly large and powerful magic within."

The principal of Mahora soon went on about the powers of the World Tree as well as a few legends and myths that surrounded it. Confirming how all the rumors of the tree were false, one, was indeed, true and has been proven time and time again. The rumor that when you confess under the World Tree, within the limits of the six concentration points of the tree's magic, then you will achieve a success of being responded back with a percentage of 120%.

"I don't get it…" Naruko ponders as the three around her all looked clueless as well.

"But but, isn't having love a wonderful thing? It's normal, isn't it?" Negi questions as Kotarō stuck his tongue out in disgust.

"Ridiculous!" Konoemon shouted with a boom. The boy teacher flinched at seeing Konoemon's intimidating stare. "What a thing to say, Negi-kun! I was hoping that you would catch on, but the underlining principle for a magical user is the complete opposite! A person needs complete permanence to manipulate their spirit! However, if love isn't there, one becomes a slave if the person they love cannot shoulder the burden! The situation will then become unpleasant!"

Still confused, Negi turned to Naruko as the blonde hummed. "Nnh, I still don't get it… but, basically, you're tryin' to say that the so-called 'love' produced by the World Tree is fake, tebane?"

"Exactly, Naruko-kun!"

"EHH!?" Negi voiced his concerns, comparing the magic of the World Tree with love potions.

The meeting went on (note: I'm sorry if it's boring, I'm really trying my best here!) as Negi was further surprised at how the majority of the students, especially when they're not magical themselves, managed to dig out the secrets of the Magical Tree to such a degree. Thankfully, however, the students only deduced that it was some sort of unnatural phenomena, and thus, pushed it into the back shelf… for some reasons unknown that not even Naruko could comprehend. If it was her (or rather, him), she would have pressed on like the curious ca- fox she was. People back home always did say that she (he) was too curious for her (his) own good. (dang that was confusing…)

Going back to the subject, Konoemon turned to Naruko. "By the way, Naruko-kun, how is school coming along for you?"

"Feh?" Naruko voiced out. "Oh, ahahaha, it's doing great!" A cloud of depression forms over her. "Yeah… it's going great…"

The faculty all sweat-drops, watching the blonde mull over the fact that her class was doing a haunted house, one of her worst nightmares. As Negi tries to cheer up the blonde, a sword-wielding teacher turns to her paycheck- err, boss. "Gakuenchōsama, who exactly is this student? I've seen her around Ojōsama and Setsuna many times, even seeing her openly speak about Magic with Negi-sensei. I've been curious about this new face."

As a couple of teachers and students voice their own query, Konoemon strokes his overgrown beard. Watching the blonde communicate so well with her new peers brought joy to the old man, even watching his granddaughter express her newly grown feelings for the blonde ninja the other day. Humming at the ideas forming in his head, he opened his mouth, the gathering Mages drawing in to hear his reasoning.

"The reason for Naruko-kun here is…"

"Is…?" Half of the Mages repeated.

"None of your concern as of now," The bearded man deadpanned as a majority of the Mages face-faulted. Naruko scratched her whiskered cheeks as her classmate and teacher had confused faces while Kotarō had no clue on what was going on. Takamichi, on the other hand, chuckled as he helped some of the victims get back on their feet.

"Gakuenchōsama, this is serious!" The swordswoman teacher berated as the principal continued to dodge the questions. Undeterred by this, Naruko voiced, "Erm…I don't mind them finding out. It's part of my mission anyway…"

"Aww, ruin my fun…" The older Konoe whined, Naruko muttering how it was creepy for an old man to whine out his misfortunes.

Clearing his throat, Konoemon gestured to the young blonde. "Naruko-kun here is a mercenary, for a lack of better term, that I hired from an old friend of mine. Just like Nagase Kaede-kun, Naruko-kun here is a Ninja."

"A Ninja!?"

"Although, it appears that some have already found out about your secret eh? Naruko-kun."

Naruko sheepishly scratches the back of her head. "Ahehehehe, sorry sorry…"

"But still, Gakuenchōsama, a ninja!? Isn't this going overboard a little bit!?"

"Hmm? Is it? I wouldn't think so…"

"Gakuenchōsama!"

"Tōko-sensei, it's fine," Takamichi himself stepping up. Some of those present voiced out the glasses-wearing man's name as he placed a hand on Naruko's shoulder. "Naruko-kun's parents are personal friends of mine. You can even say that they are honorary members of Ala Rubra."

Now that got everyone's attentions, especially Negi's. Naruko's parents, both whom are supposedly ninjas (in everyone else's minds), members of the Magical World's most celeritous group? Even Negi got giddy in excitement, another student of his is also a child of one of his father's group of friends? That makes two so far, including Konoka.

Naruko, on the other hand, was thinking of something else.

"Takamichi-san knows my parents… which means, he knows…" In the blonde's mental image of how her (his) family would've looked like if the masked man hadn't attacked Konoha. The image of what it would've, should've, looked like if that unfortunate event hadn't happened. That missing hole that stood just next to the Fourth Hokage and just behind Naruto was where his mother was supposed to be. The woman who was the wife of the Hokage as well as the mother of the soon-to-be Hokage. The woman who Naruto oh-so wanted to meet. The woman who Naruto still has no idea how she looked like (though he often betted to himself that she would most definitely be beautiful… and a redhead. Definitely a redhead). The woman who was supposed to be the worrywart in the family, worrying for his safety and whatnot. The woman who was supposed to greet him when he came back home. The woman who will help him with any emotional troubles…

His Mom.

"Kā-chan…"

At Takamichi's persistence, the suspecting mages turned down, accepting Naruko since she was the "daughter" (pfft, son) of friends who were honorary members of Ala Rubra. As the principal dismissed the teachers and students, one student sensed a spy within the ranks, another teacher catching the mobile flying robot. However, all of that passed Naruko's senses. She instead caught Takamichi's wrist. The pale blonde blinked, looking back to see Naruko, with tears forming at the corner of her eyes, looking at the chain smoker with slight desperation. Her mouth was continuously opening and closing.

"Ta… takamichi… san… about… about my mo-…"

She stopped when Takamichi patted a hand on her shoulder, giving her a soft smile. "Don't worry, Naruto-kun," Ignoring the silent rule the two made, the pale blonde continued to talk, "You will find out about your mother eventually. From what I've been told already, you've already met Minato-san. In that case, let me give you a hint about your mother:"

Naruko gulped, ready to hear about her mother.

"When the time comes for you to control the nine tails within you, the power of your family will help you."

Negi, Setsuna and Kotarō were confused at the riddle, having overheard the small conversation between the two blondes. Naruko, however, grabbed the hidden message completely.

"When you confront the Kyūbi, then you will get to find out about your mother."

That meant that later on in the future, she will be trying to control the monster inside her. Something she didn't understand yet, since the fox was pretty troublesome and stubborn like that (HEY!). With a shake of a head, a sniff here and there, and wiping the tears off her face, she smiled, "Got it, Takamichi-san!"

The glasses-wearing man smiles and walks away as Negi walks up to his student. "N-naruko-san…?"

The blonde stays silent, watching the older teacher walk away. Suddenly, bringing up two hands, she slaps herself in the face.

Twice.

"UWAAAHH! N-naruko-san!?"

"Gggggh… GRAAAAAAHHH!"

The fox roars!

"HYAAAH!"

And the mouse cowers in fear…

"Ahhhhgghh, dammit, dattebane! What's wrong with me!? Getting all emotional like that, tebane!?" Naruko roared, her anger at its limit. "It's gotta be a side effect of using the Oiroke no Jutsu! It's gotta be!"

"N-n-naruko… san…?"

"Hmm!? Oh, whassup, Negi?" Naruko greeted as Negi sighed out whatever breath he was holding. The group of two female students, a single male student, and a young teacher, soon headed out. After reassuring to her friends that she was alright, and that that moment of burst was just another side effect that she was still finding with her technique, Naruko was soon another happy-go-lucky school girl. It further proved that fact that Naruko (and in turn, Naruto) was bipolar.

The group walks down the many streets leading out of the World Tree clearing, venders and outdoor marketing filling the streets. The group voice out their opinion about the meeting, Negi and Setsuna themselves surprised that there were that many Mages within the school. Naruko herself was unsurprised, having sensed them and somewhat met them a few days prior. Kotarō, however, was unenthusiastic about the whole meeting, having wanted to fight some super-villain during the Festival.

The conversation soon takes a turn to Negi's appointment with his students. Seeing all the girls in the schedule, Kotarō voices his disappointment as Naruko once again laughs at the young teacher's misfortune. Before Negi could explain to his rival-slash-friend, a figure suddenly crash-lands onto a nearby vender, surprising the bystanders around it.

"Uwaaah!" Negi yelped in surprise.

"The hell!?"

"We getting attacked? AWESOME!" Kotarō voiced his excitement as Setsuna grips her hidden nodachi. Negi, being the responsible young boy he is, dashes to the young figure, helping it up as the figure's hood fell off its, her, head.

"Are you ok!?"

Getting a good look at the figure's face, however, stopped him cold.

"Y-you're…?"

Chuckling sheepishly, Chao Lingshen smiles, "Eheh… Negi-bōzu? Good timing! Will you help me, ne?"

"With what?" Naruko asks suspiciously, getting the same vibe she had whenever something dangerous was about to happen.

The apparent-Chinese girl grins, "Well~ at the moment, I'm being chased by evil mages!" With another wink, she again asks, "So, will you help me, ne?"
