*Peers nervously around corner*
Hello...?
ACK! Alright, alright! I get it! You guys are mad! But I can explain! Kind of... Look, I got a major case of writers block. Even after losing it, my drive for this story was lost. I tried to force myself to continue to write but I...just couldn't.
I hope this can make up for it. I'm kind of doing a chapter marathon. Two chapters in one day, and possibly one more tomorrow. I understand. It won't make what I did right, but I hope it can at least pacify your anger a little bit.
And for all of you who continued to review and tell me how awesome you thought my story was;Thank you. Just so much. Honestly, you guys are what made me finally get my act together because you guys just seemed so genuinely eager to read more.
Thank You.
Steve sat at the edge of his bed in the room he had been assigned on the Hovercarrier. After leaving the strange Camp and heading back to New York, Furry had stated they would remain in the air, so as to limit the fugitives chances of escape.
The fugitives...an image of a black haired boy with sea green eyes flashed into Steve's mind at the thought of them. Steve shivered as he remembered the words that had been uttered to him at the interrogation with that particular boy.
Doubt had since filled Steve's being after isolating himself in his quarters. Was he the only one who possibly felt this was wrong? He knew Banner had shared previous doubts. After the 'Terrorists' had been tranquilized, he had noticed Bruce looked discontent in the role had had come to unwittingly play in their capture.
But all of it didn't seem right to the World War two veteran. An icy ball had formed in the pit of his stomach. His blue eyes stared down at the hands clasped in front of him, and they slowly formed into fists. He trusted his instincts, and right now, Steve's instincts were telling him things weren't as they had all previously thought.
For all he knew, everything could be flipped. Maybe the 'Terrorists' weren't there real threat here. But if they weren't, who was? That was something Steve thought he might know, but didn't feel eager to answer.
Steve strengthened his resolve and heaved his muscular body to his feet. The floor vibrated under his shoes from the strength of the turbines but he didn't care. The vibrations seemed almost comforting at that moment.
Steve needed to stop this; to find a way and get the kids out if he could. But he would need help, and like it or not, he wasn't smart enough to form a possible escape plan without it.
He had two choices. Steve knew two people he could go to who wouldn't speak to Furry about it immediately. Bruce, and Tony. Bruce was most likely to be eager to help since he had been most shaken by the injustice. Tony was probably less likely and it would take time to manage to convince him it wasn't a complete waste of time and energy.
He had time to decide who he would ask for help. They were both most likely in the same spot and it would probably be a while for Steve to get to the Hellicarriers Lab. For now, it was just Steve and his thoughts in the seemingly abandoned and cold metal hallways.
To get to the lab, Steve would have to pass the place where the kids were being held. The normal looking door seemed to beg him to stop walking and stare at it's gleaming surface. Steve couldn't open it, eve if he wanted to. There was no handle on either side of the door. Only those who monitored the kids could open the door.
Furry really is paranoid. Steve couldn't help but think dryly as he continued to look at door. He compulsively walked forwards until h could press his ear to the window, which he did. Even with his abnormally strong hearing, he could barely make out the muffled sounds of voices through the thick metal.
Resignation that he wouldn't hear them sank in and Steve set off on his way again. Only when he had put some distance between himself and the door, did he realize that there was a chance of a camera having been trained on the door. His couldn't help but silently pray that his actions weren't on one of Furry's 'suspicious actions list'.
Did Fury actually have a list about that? Steve, shuddered. Why couldn't he immediately tell himself that's a lie?
Steve turned a corner and it wasn't long before he caught sight of the entrance to the Lab. He opened the door silently and poked his head into the room. It was large, open, and filled with fancy looking equipment that made Steve break into a cold sweat.
The front of the room was empty, and Steve had to wander farther and farther into the labyrinth of science materials before he caught a glimpse of a human being. It was out of the corner of his baby blue eyes, and he turned to head towards the brown clothed back.
Luck was with him, and it was mild tempered Bruce and not Tony or any of S.H.E.I.L.D's multiple Scientists.
Steve's mood turned sour as he became suspicious. Bruce was leaning over Tony's shoulder seemingly as though to indiscreetly block anyone's view of the screen. Luckily for Steve, he managed to sneak up quietly behind the pair and get a good peak before his presence was noted.
"Oh!" Bruce said and turned to face Steve, cheeks pink with embarrassment at having been caught red handed. Steve grinned wryly and looked away from the screen to face Bruce and Tony. The latter who could have at least looked humbled at his having been caught.
Steve rolled his weight to his heels, arms crossed over his chest and lips pursed. "Furry's going to be pissed."
