Kagami woke up in very late morning. His head still hurt and he coughed, but that wasn't so bad that he could lay all day in bed.

He walked to the kitchen and switched on the electric kettle. He put bag with tea in cup and from the fridge he took the lemon and put one slice of it in the cup.

After that he poured inside some water and sat on the sofa in living room. On the coffee table laid papers from work that he could do at home. He did not like to lay down and do nothing so before driving Retsuki to kindergarten Himuro gave him something to do.

He took first sheet and stared at it. He held the pen in his hand. Before he could write anything, Kagami took deep breath and sneezed. After that he took out a handkerchief.

He stared at the blank piece of paper and stared trying to frame in his mind (on) what to write, but to no use. He put it away and leaned on his sofa.

It was pretty long agothat he last got ill. Retsuki was then much younger.

He smiled at the memories of the little boy sleeping with him in at night explaining that his uncle must feel lonely in the night sick so he would accompany him.

Good old times.

He stared at the clock above television. It was almost 12 p.m.

He reached for the phone that laid on table and searched through the contact list. He chose one and pushed the green button.

After few rings the person on the other side answered.

"Yoo Kagami, whatcha want?" Asked the cheerful voice of Koganei.

Redhead brushed his head.

"Hello Koga-sempai..." After that he cleared his throat.

"Ah sick aren't we?" Shinji laughed.

Kagami smiled a bit under his nose.

"Yes, a little. Anyway, I have question to ask you..."

"I know what you want, I booked local for you at that Saturday~ Ah and I asked Mitobe to order food too..."

Taiga's smile grew wider.

"Haha, thank you very much. So I need to send invitations as always then?"

"Yes~! Ah as you are phoning me I want to ask. What should I buy Retsuki?"

Kagami massaged his temples and sighed.

"If I say nothing, you'll buy him something in the end, won't you?"

"Yes..."

His eyes trailed to the boy's room. He stared at it.

"I think books should be fine..." He murmured.

"Okaaay, thanks~. I need to go to work, so I'll phone you later. Byee!"

"Thanks. Good bye!"

They ended the call.

Kagami sipped his tea and took paper to finally do something.

Aomine woke this morning in a very, very bad mood.

It had almost nothing to do with the fact that he overslept because he watched some film late in the night. Most of it was because today was his first day of... this security program or whatever.

He slowly walked inside the bathroom and washed his teeth then mouth.

The tanned man opened fridge and put out the cheese that was almost edible. He put it on some slice of bread that he found somewhere.

He put the sandwich in his mouth and opened the wardrobe. He took out some light blue shirt and dark trousers.

The Policeman swallowed the last bite of bread and first put on his pants. He then put on his shirt and buttoned it. He walked to bathroom to comb his hair.

He stared through the dirty mirror at baby blue shirt. He threw comb into sink and walked out the house, taking his bag first.

It was a little gray day. But it was day without that bastard Imayoshi. And it was the only good thing about that day.

The bad thing...

He walked the road he remembered by heart. He knew it well. Too well. How many times did he walk down this road. And when was the last time he walked like this?

Ah the last time... He walked here with Tetsu.

Aomine had talked then about some shop thief he caught last time. And Tetsu... Tetsu smiled then. The smiled he used to show him, when he was amused. So little, cute, warm.

Oh that smile... It had now been 7 years... For him it was almost like yesterday. Because almost every day he got this nightmare. Everything repeated over and over.

An almost never ending story.

He stopped and stared at the kindergarten he once loved. He loved. Now, it had no special meaning. Now it gave him bad memories.

Because he will never walk inside with that smile again.

So he walked inside.

The Receptionist lifted her head. He walked to her and showed her his badge.

"From Security Program I suppose?" She asked tilting her head.

Aomine only nodded.

After a while from the corridor that lead to classes walked woman with curly brown chocolate hair and an old woman with square glasses. He knew her.

"Ah hello Aomine-san. Long time no see..." She greeted him as she spotted him.

"Yes, long time..." He murmured and bowed a little.

"Really what the word is giving us. I was really surprised after I heard that you'll be teaching in our kindergarten"

The old woman gave him a small smile. She then turned to her companion.

"This is Kurika-sensei. She is the teacher in your class, so ask her anything you want..."

The girl with bunch of brown hair showed him his hand.

"Nice to meet you."

"Aomine Daiki..." He said and shook hand with the woman.

He then turned to the chef of this institution.

"I need to go now. It was nice seeing you~" She bowed and walked off.

Aomine nodded and turned to the girl.

"So Aomine-san? You can start today. I will say everything to you as we walk there..."

He nodded one more time and walked arm to arm with Kurika through the hall.

She talked and most of it was not really interesting or not important. Daiki listened to almost all of it.

"So let's have a nice cooperation!"

"Sure..."

They stopped in front of a white door with big ladybugs glued on it. From inside came the sound of children shouting.

The woman walked inside without hesitation with the policeman.

Aomine saw bunch of kids gaping at him with mouth opened. They silenced in one moment still holding onto their toys.

"Welcome everyone. This person here is Aomine Daiki-san, the policeman that will be leading lessons with us about security. You remember it?" She asked.

All children nodded in unison. They got in one big group staring at him like he was the eight miracle of the world.

"So Aomine-san, could you tell some things about yourself?"

The man sighed and started to open mouth but something interrupted him.

Inside the class ran boy with light blue hair. He stopped at the doorway and stared at his teacher.

"I'm very sorry. I was in toilet!" He bowed.

The woman smiled at him.

"Don't worry. But you asked an adult yes?"

The boy nodded and grinned. He then turned his head to his friends. They were staring at him.

Kid blinked and looked around. Then he spotted him.

"Ah..." He opened his mouth. "Good morning Aomine-san..."

Daiki blinked a little shocked at this outburst. After that he grinned.

"Ah welcome~. You were late. But you can join others now..." He said.

Retsuki looked at the children in front of the policeman. He blushed and then walked to towards the others.

Daiki coughed.

"As your teacher said, my name is Aomine Daiki, I'm from Second Filia of Police in Tokyo's criminology department. And... what can I say more...?" He stuttered.

One boy lifted his arm.

"Yes?" He stared at him.

"Did you have gun with you Mister?"

Kurika eyes widened a little, but she covered her mouth and laughed.

Aomine blinked at that question.

"Nope..." He murmured "I do not have weapon with me. When I'm not on active work, I can't have it with me..."

The boy's hand flew down. He looked somewhat sad.

"Any other questions?" Asked the woman.

No child lifted his or her hand.

So Aomine need to move to first topic.

He automatically forgot everything that he read yesterday. His mind went blank.

"So maybe... we start from sitting on the carpet in circle right...?" Said Kurika.

He nodded at her and turned to take few papers from his bag. He stared at it.

Ah, yes... how to behave on street...

He turned around. All kids sat staring at him intensively.

Aomine gulped. Why was he feeling so nervous? It was just bunch of kids.

He spotted the smiling blue-haired boy and he walked to sit between him and some glasses boy.

He started to talk.

"So... how do you feel after your first day of work...?"

Aomine turned his head at the brown-haired girl that sat at her desk.

"Not so bad... I suppose..."

All children listened to him when he spoke. Only one boy pinched arm of girl that sat next to her and she started crying (what made Daiki's head hurt), then one boy complained that he need to use the toilet (he allowed him to do so), Aomine got lost in his papers that children needed to wait and after he found this one page he was looking for one girl was drawing apples on it.

Yep it could be worse.

Today was the first day, so he only need to made fast introductory lesson, so he was going to his office in the time of dinner.

The Tanned man packed the last sheet and closed the bag. He threw it over his shoulder.

"Till Thursday~"

Aomine nodded not very cheerfully. He walked out of the classroom and then out of the building.

When he walked the patch directed to the exit he turned his head and saw the teal-haired boy sitting under the tree. He was focusing on the book on his lap, not paying attention to kids that ran around him. He wore this little smile, like he was very happy.

'You really love books, hmm?'

Somewhere, in his chest, it ached. Repeating memory, simply words coming from his mouth, little touch.

Suddenly the boy lifted his head and turned towards him. He blinked once and then waved his hand.

Daiki's palm moved on its own. He lifted it a little.

Retsuki returned to his book.

Ah, this boy. Just an unknown kid that he met in Majiba that was now in his class. The World really is small. Or...

He remembered the smile that Imayoshi wore after he handed him the paper with the name of kindergarten. That evil smirk... Something was wrong with it.

And the name... Retsuki...

He stopped on the street and stared at the ground.

That reminded him... He did leave him around 7 years ago... so he would be about the same age as the boy.

But in this world, there many people in with the same age and the same name, so it's just coincidence. Like there's another man named Daiki in his police officer.

It's just a coincidence.

So why was he feeling so uneasy?

"Ah..." He murmured "I forgot to check the attendance..."

Tatsuya walked to his car side by side with a small boy. He was bouncing happily and humming some song under his nose.

"Why are you so happy?" Asked Himuro, opening the car's door.

"I'm just happy~!"

The boy walked to the other side and sat in the passenger's seat.

They slowly drove home, not talking too much.

Finally Retsuki started to talk about his day at kindergarten. Himuro from time to time looked at him and smiled.

He liked when the boy sometimes got fired up from some event that happened in his life.

The boy was talking about some policeman that came to his class. It had something to do with the Security Program held at his kindergarten.

"And then, Aomine-san..."

His heart skipped a beat and his leg slipped, suddenly pushing the anchors. The car stopped and their bodies shook under the pressure.

Tatsuya turned his head towards the boy.

Retsuki was staring at him with wide eyes.

"What happened Himuro-ji?"

"W-what was his name?" He asked.

The Boy tilted his head to the side.

"You mean Aomine-san? What's wrong with him?"

His heart beat way too fast. He took a very deep breath.

"Ah, no, nothing. I just misheard" He ruffled the boy's hair "Sorry for the sudden stopping. So let's go!"

"We're home!"

Kagami lifted his head from his papers

"Welcome back..." He murmured very quietly. Ah, his throat was still feeling not too good.

"Still ill, aren't we?" Asked Tatsuya in a teasing tone of voice, hanging his jacket.

The boy ran to his uncle and sat next to him on the sofa.

"How are you feeling?

His deep dark blue eyes were staring right into his red orbs.

Kagami gulped under the pressure of this childish stare.

"I'm feeling better!"

The blue-haired boy grinned.

The firefighter walked inside the living room.

"So, what should I do for dinner?" He asked.

Taiga blinked.

"What, you don't have to do that! I'll cook by myself!"

The man smirked.

"And sneeze into the pot. No thanks! Do you think spaghetti would be alright?"

Kagami murmured some warm words under his nose but nodded.

Retsuki nodded to but with less enthusiasm than usual.

Why?

Aomine sat in his office. He was turning his pen in his hand. It was pretty late and in his office was only him, some creepy computer scientist and of course his chef-Imayoshi.

The faint light coming from the too old lamp on his desk was spreading on paper with many letters. He was supposed to write the account from today work in kindergarten but what was he supposed to write?

He stopped in the column with attendance where he was supposed to write the amount of boys and girls that were at the class.

He sighed. He totally forgot to do so. Maybe he should just lie about it now. Nobody really paid attention to that kind of thing.

He opened his bag and searched through it. Finally he took out paper with list of names.

In class there were 9 boys and 11 girls, so this made 20 children.

He wrote it in the proper place and put the paper somewhere on the desk. He leaned on the chair and stared at darkening ceiling. He still held onto the sheet.

Coming to this very kindergarten, staring at these very walls and meeting people he knew, he felt his heart throbbing in his chest. Daiki bit his lip.

He remembered times when he rode there and waited in front of the gates for Tetsu to finish work. He remembered when he walked so many time out still with apron, making him go back to hang it off. He remembered the smile on his face when he sat next to him and simply asked what should he cook for dinner. Ah and sometimes, he walked inside Tetsu's kindergarten and played with the kids.

Now... he didn't know if he could do it again. Still with the same smile, staring at the pure face of the kids.

He heard the paper fall to the floor with a rustle. Aomine bended down to pick it up.

He stopped and stared and the list.

7. Kuroko Retsuki

'Nee... Daiki how should we call him?'

The Man put finger on his chin.

'I'm not very good with choosing names... Maybe let's call him...'

The Bluenette frowned.

'No, his name will not be Mai!'

He grinned with half opened eyelids.

'Why not? And what if this will be a girl?'

'Of course, we're both men so he must be boy...'

He laughed and covered his mouth.

The man, laying on the bed, smiled a little. He turned his head and was staring through the window at the maple outside the building. A little green bud was staring to show on the bare branches.

'Re...tsu...ki...'

He turned his head to stare at his partner.

'What?' He blinked.

'Retsuki' Tetsuya smiled and closed his eyes 'His name will be Retsuki...'

He couldn't feel his legs anymore, His mind was blank. He couldn't even see properly.

Aomine couldn't hold his body straight. The Chair fell to the floor and he landed on his butt.

His heart beat fast. His breathing was coming out in a short hissed sounds. His lungs ached.

The bluenette tried to smile. His cheeks were pale, almost white. He trembled all over. The fringe glued to his sweaty forehead, dry light pink lips turned into a smile.

'Re...tsuki...'

The sounds were barely heard. It was drowned into the mixed sound of machine beeping next to them, the sound of(an ordering doctor, the sound of people hitting the glass outside the room and trying to step inside and help, the sound of his heart beating way too fast, and the sound of a screaming child...

A palm that almost looked like it was only bones, reached forward...

He clenched his fist. He tried to stand up but he stumbled and flew against the desk behind him. The cup filled with pens fell to the floor.

The man in the corner lifted his head to stare at him.

Using the furniture behind him, he stood up. He stared with wide open eyes at the sheet in front of him and the word repeated itself in his head.

Retsuki, Retsuki, Retsuki...

And it all hit him.

The beautiful light blue hair, the pale skin, the small body, the delightful face when he drank vanilla shakes.

And the dark blue eyes, that were the same as his own.

This boy... It was his...

The child he... 7 years ago... And now...

And he remembered the smile Imayoshi gave him when he was giving him the papers about his work. He had thought that it was all about the name of kindergarten, but that was not it... He knew...

Blood rushed into his veins. He kicked the chair with his foot and ran to the room of his chef. He opened the door.

Shouichi sat there searching through some documents. At that sudden outburst he only lifted his face and with one eyebrow raised, he stared at his subordinate.

"What do you want... Aomine?"

Daiki walked to the big wooden desk in the center of dark room and hit the desk with palm that was still holding the sheet with attendance.

"What is this?! What is this!?" He shouted.

The man pushed Daiki's hand and took the paper. He stared at it.

"So? This is a simple list of attendance in your work. What's so wrong about it?" He asked with an almost poker face. Almost. The one thing that betrayed him was the spark somewhere deep into his orbs.

Aomine was not angry, he was furious.

"You knew!? You fucking knew that in this kindergarten..."

Imayoshi smirked.

"In this..."

The tanned man clenched his fists.

"That in this kindergarten there is this child!" He yelled.

The evil grin on his face grew wider. Even more.

"Yes.. this child" He accented the last word " Is there..."

Aomine took deep breath. One, long breath.

"I want to be transferred somewhere else! Now!"

Imayoshi took the black expensive pen that laid next to his right hand. He held it between pointing finger and thumb of both hands. His glasses shined in the light of the lamp.

"And who are you to order me? I want to remind you that I'm your officer! Know your place..."

The sound of Imayoshi voice crept him. He had this imperative tone that made him almost shiver.

"You request is rejected. You were chosen to this one institution. If you read all documents I gave you, you would know that you cannot change it..."

Aomine gulped. He sweated.

"If you want to still have this work. You need to listen to my order..."

Shouichi took off his glasses and stared right into his dark blue eyes.

"And when I'm telling you to go to the place where this child is... You go there..."

He put his face on his connected fingers.

"Or... are you too scared to meet him?"
