Bingo prompt # 9

Wearing each other's clothes

Ok wow, more updates! Turn up. Well either way, I, again, am on a writer's block so I don't know where the hell I'm taking this. I have a vague idea but it keeps changing. This went like really deep really fast and I didn't even mean it to. And it'll probably just get deeper from here.

John

That was the first thought to enter Dave's mind. The picture in his mind was so familiar and he knew just who it belonged to. He grunted as his mind and body started to yank him from sleep and into reality. He at least took solstice in the slowly forming realization that it was Sunday and not Monday. He continued to verbally protest waking up but did so anyways. Memories of the day before crept into his mind and he begun to piece it all back together. The cafe, the kiss, him and Dirk.

Sitting up, his back gave a few satisfying cracks and he shifted from the bed. Looking to his phone, it was 3:14. Damn, it was early, he must have crashed really early too, or something woke him up. No matter what the cause, he felt in his gut that he wasn't going back to sleep. Slowly, he walked to Dirk's room, taking a look inside. The other blonde was still fast asleep on his bed. With a small nod of both regard and approval that Dirk was sleeping for once, he went to the kitchen for aj.

The glow of the fridge cast a white light across the cold tiles of the kitchen floor. His toes curled against the brief cold from the fridge as he grabbed one of the bottles. He cracked it open and took a long swig of it, leaning back on the counter after the door to the fridge shut. His head tilted back and he looked up to the pitch black ceiling. He just couldn't get the raven haired boy out of his head. What was worse was the tingle of the smooth lips on his own could still be felt. He doubts he could ever forget the feeling of the kiss. He huffed and pushed off the counter, heading back to his room. What was done was done and he wasn't about to break john and Karkat up. He still had a best friend and that was all he could honestly ask for.

Back inside his darkened room, Dave flicked on the computer, the screen lighting up his room, littered with wires and photography things. One thing caught his eye though. A light blue pullover hoodie, many sizes too big for Dave or john. he went over to it and picked it up, johns stupid but absolutely adorable windy symbol on the front of it. He put down the bottle of aj and slid it over his head, the scent of john filling his nose until he popped his head up. It went down a little further than his hips and his hands barely poked out. It's really damn big on john too.

With the hoodie on, Dave went to his computer, plugging in his headphones and opening one of his calmed mixes. He placed the headphones on his head and pulled the hood over it, bringing his knees to his chest and burrowing into the hoodie. The smell and familiar music calmed him enough to drift away into a gentle sleep.

Dave

That was the first thought to enter john's mind. He too was awoken, though not in the darkness of the early morning, but with the warmth of the sun's rays on his cheek. He stretched out and slid out from under the covers that he wormed into sometime through the night. His hair was as unruly as always and he glanced into the mirror, noticing his attire. With a small eye roll, he took off his shoes, socks, jeans and shirt, leaving him in his boxers as he walked across the hall to the bathroom for a shower.

His dreams were still firmly planted in his mind, the thought of Dave staying in his head. He stepped out of his boxers and into the hot stream of water from the shower. A tired sigh left him and he scrubbed water, then shampoo into his hair, the fluffy bubbles sliding down his shoulders and down his back. He turned around and put his face in the stream, eyes shut tight against the pelting water.

He kept his shower quick, exiting once his hair and body was washed then, with a towel around his waist, he went right back to his room, trying to decide what to do with the day. Maybe he would put his mind at ease and actually go see Dave.

A ding rang from his computer and he looked over. Did he really leave that on? He sat down in the computer chair, still wet from his shower.

"TG: hey john you up bro?"

Speak of the devil...

"EB: hey dave, yeah i'm up."

There was a bit of silence like Dave was trying to decide what to write, then another ding and a message came.

"TG: do you..."

"TG: do you wanna meet up today?"

"EB: sure, where?"

There was yet another pause from the other end and john stood after a bit, going to his closet to actually get dressed since apparently he had to go out and do things today. He pulled out a large red hoodie with a light red gear on the front. He smiled warmly at it and put on his slimer shirt, having the sweater over it. It was pretty big on him and he remembered he traded Dave for his since Dave's fit his better honestly.

He tugged it on over his head, breathing in the warm scent; it was somewhat sweet but musky mostly. It was Dave's scent. He pulled on some simple shorts on too and went back to his computer, seeing new messages.

"TG: what about the park downtown?"

"TG: john?"

"TG: shit whered you go bro?"

"EB: right here! I was getting dressed."

"EB: the park sounds great. I'll meet you there."

John wasn't really sure what made him want to end the conversation so fast, but he did so anyways, closing out of the tab and shutting the monitor down. Swiveling around, he grabbed his phone and quickly left the house, walking down the road.

Again, today was pleasantly warm but Mother Nature wasn't a bitch for once and made it just nice enough to where the sweaters could maybe be justifiable. The park was bustling with activity, the fountain spraying flows of warm water, kids having water balloon fights, people walking their dogs or jogging, a few people relaxing and enjoying the day on the benches or in the grass. that's when he spotted Dave, sitting under a thick oak tree in the shade, wearing that blue sweater with his knees to his chest, looking off into space, not really focusing on anything, probably deep in thought. I crept up to him, sitting down. The movement seemed to snap him from his thoughts and he looked over to me.

"Hey john."

"Hey Dave."

Oh wow, the tension here can be cut with a knife. Sorry for the lack of updates, finals and all that jazz and I've just hit a block and trying to shove this story forward till I can reach a proper point to get things rolling. I might have a lot of chapters that don't follow the prompts just to thicken the plot but I promise I'll do all of the prompts! Till next update!
