And here's the next chapter! Oh yeah, I added another short prologue to the first chapter. I didn't want this to be deleted because I wasn't following the rules... And, I decided to keep The Storm. At first, I didn't really like it, but now I do!
I just wanna thank Wraitheon1, Eaglehaze and Maplefeather for giving me cats. I might not be able to put all of them in PondClan, but I might be able to use every single one. Of course, I had to change some things, but not a lot. :)
I haven't done this yet. I do not own Warriors, that's obvious, I also don't own Aspenkit, Fernkit, Sunkit or Silverkit, I don't own Shadowwhisker, I don't own Silk, okay, I don't own 75% of the cats in this story, including all of the ones I haven't mentioned yet. The people that DO own these cats are lavi0123, Wraitheon1, Eaglehaze and Maplefeather.
Shadowwhisker sat in camp, bored. It was very early, not even dawn, and she wanted to hunt, because the other cats would probably be hungry when they woke up.
The problem was, there were too many choices she could choose from.
Imagine having to choose between fishing in the ocean, fishing in the pond, fishing in the small creek, hunting in the woods, fishing in the river that was close by, or hunting in the trees. Shadowwhisker was already bad at making choices!
The black she-cat finally decided to just hunt in the forest. She was the most comfortable with that, so she knew she could catch enough fresh kill for everyone.
Shadowwhisker padded out of camp, and sniffed, smelling every unique forest scent around her. Most, she didn't even recognize.
She could smell the faint scent of a squirrel relatively near, and spotted it pretty quickly. It was pretty far away, so, even though she was upwind, it didn't smell her. She circled around it, keeping her distance, until she was downwind of it.
She slinked through the trees silently, until she was so near the squirrel she could touch it without reaching out very far.
The squirrel started to turn, and looked right into Shadowwhisker's eyes and widened its eyes. Before it could react any further, Shadowwhisker bit its neck as fast as lightning.
Shadowwhisker looked at the fresh kill, feeling guilt for a second, imagining turning, and seeing a predator four times her size.
That almost instantly disappeared, replaced with triumph. The kits could now eat.
As Shadowwhisker continued to hunt, she thought about what had happened since she joined. Despite how much her mother had taught her about the clan, she still learned things.
There had also been a cat that had appeared in camp, he had seemed really nice, and seemed to want to join. He joked around with her, hunted with her, and slept next to her at night.
A few nights after he appeared, Shadowwhisker woke up, finding that the cat wasn't next to her, so she got up, wondering where he was.
She saw something flicker in the entrance to Skunkstar's den, and went to investigate. Jumping into the entrance to the cave, she found the cat – the one she had started to trust – above her cousin, about to strike him in his sleep.
"October!" Shadowwhisker yowled in surprise. October whipped around in surprise, his eyes widening.
"Shadowwhisker! I-I'm sorry, m-my brothe—"
Shadowwhisker cut him off, scratching his face. October fell, grimacing, but he didn't strike back.
"I'm so sorry, Shadowwhisker," October's green eyes searched her angry blue ones with a pained expression, before turning , jumping out of the cave onto the rock, and racing into the forest, the darkness swallowing up his ginger pelt.
"Thank you, Shadowwhisker," Skunkstar mewed from behind her. "I am in your debt."
Shadowwhisker turned to her cousin and gave him a fake smile. "No, you aren't. Consider it a favor." She jumped out of the cave, and went back to the warriors' den, wishing she could just disappear.
When Shadowwhisker checked to see how much fresh kill she'd caught, she realized she probably had caught more than enough. She sighed, grabbing the fresh kill in her jaws and heading back to camp.
When she got back and put the fresh kill in the pile, she went over to the pond, looking up at the waterfall, wondering if The Storm would ever find out they were living right behind the wall of water covering the cave that Skunkstar and Redstrike fell from.
Just as she was thinking, something fell down the waterfall, landing in the pond, and splashing her. Now soaking wet, she looked into the pond, wondering what in StarClan that was.
Shadowwhisker cried out when she realized what it was – an injured cat! She automatically jumped into the pond, swimming toward the cat. When she reached him, she grabbed his scruff in her teeth. She, with some difficulty, got the cat to land.
The cat was unconscious, and his injuries were pretty bad. Shadowwhisker could barely tell that his pelt was white. It looked like several cats had attacked him at once, and he didn't even defend himself.
Shadowwhisker didn't even realize it, but she'd woken up almost every cat, including Maroonpaw. She gasped, and ran over to her and the injured cat.
"Who's this?" Maroonpaw asked.
"I don't know! He fell from the cave!" Shadowwhisker replied.
"Let's get him in the medicine den!" she and Maroonpaw dragged him to the medicine den, then she got to work. Shadowwhisker saw Fernkit appear from behind Maroonpaw, watching.
Maroonpaw didn't seem very sure of herself as she spread a poultice over his wounds. He never woke from unconsciousness, but he did grimace in his sleep.
She took some cobwebs and wrapped them around his wounds. "Okay, I'm done. We can talk to him when he wakes up," she sighed. "I hope I did it right…" she mumbled.
While everyone was eating the fresh kill Shadowwhisker caught, Fernkit spoke up. "He's awake!"
Maroonpaw was instantly up and in the medicine den. Shadowwhisker followed, curious.
In the medicine den, the injured cat was panicking. "Where am I?!" he tried to get up, but fell back down.
"Don't move! You'll reopen something!" Maroonpaw told him.
"Where am I?" he repeated, his muscles still tense.
"You're in PondClan," Shadowwhisker mewed. The injured cat looked up at her. He looked confused, but then his eyes widened.
"You mean the group of cats The Storm killed?"
"They didn't kill all of us," Shadowwhisker replied. "What's your name?"
"Silk… for my fur."
"Silk, how'd you get your injuries?" Maroonpaw asked. "They're really bad…"
"Some cats in The Storm attacked me…" he mewed. "I thought I was going to die…"
"Well, thanks to Maroonpaw, you didn't." Skunkstar appeared from behind Shadowwhisker. "I am Skunkstar, PondClan's leader. It's nice to meet you, Silk."
Silk dipped his head. "You, too."
"You're going to have to stay here for at least a moon to heal," Maroonpaw mewed to Silk. He sighed and smiled.
"That's fine. I don't have anywhere I need to go at the moment... Thank you for treating my injuries – Maroonpaw, was it?"
"Yes, and you're welcome," she smiled. "I'm the medicine cat!"
"Medicine cat…?" Silk looked at her.
"I work with medicine to treat injuries and sicknesses," she explained.
"That's nice…" Silk yawned.
"We should probably leave him to sleep," Maroonpaw mewed quietly and backed out of the medicine den, the other cats following. The kits, as Shadowwhisker expected, complained, but after a minute they went to go play, but of course Aspenkit didn't join them. He just sat by himself and watched them, scowling.
As if he knew she was watching him, he turned and looked in her direction, glaring at her when he saw her. Then he turned around.
Shadowwhisker shook her head. That kit was unbelievable. She turned and saw Redstrike padding over to her.
"Shadowwhisker, do you want to go patrol the borders we set?" she asked.
"Okay." The two she-cats padded out of camp.
I liked writing this chapter. It took me 5 hours.
