Beginning of Day 3

Hotch hadn't had the chance to tell his friends the truth about Reid.

Rossi had spent most of the time trying to convince himself it wasn't true. He didn't want to accept Reid had died and he wondered how things turned bad so fast, he blamed himself for not doing something. Losing Reid was like losing his own son and the pain was almost unbearable. Still he held it together letting his heart ache and his head throb with pain from holding back tears.

JJ had dealt with Reid's suspected death more rationally than Will's. He was her best friend, brother and family. He was irreplaceable. Every time she remembered the details of a special moment, she would lose control and break down, like when he asked her to a Redskins game, they made memories that day that would last a lifetime. Her sobs had been so heavy and passionate that on multiple occasions over the course of the day, she caused herself to get sick and by the end of the day all that was left were dry heaves.

Hotch, Rossi and JJ had little food since Kabuto had kidnapped them. Their stomachs yearned for sustenance and the dryness in their mouths craved moisture. With each day that passed their strength subsided and all they had left to run on was adrenaline.

On the morning of the third day Hotch, Rossi and JJ were stuffed into the back of a van and drove to an isolated location. The road was long, narrow and curvy as it weaved in and around a grove of trees. Just as their stomachs began to churn with car sickness, the terrain opened up and an extraordinary mansion came into view. Hotch and Rossi exchanged a concerned look, before looking back out the window, to observe the mansion and its surroundings.

Due to extreme exhaustion and immense dehydration JJ had passed out and was still unconscious as they approached. She barely moved and let out a slight groan as the van came to a stop. Hotch wrapped his arms a little tighter around her frame and pulled her in a little closer. He wasn't about to let these men take her from him.

Rossi scooted against JJ pressing her comfortably, tight between them. After what she had been through he would do anything to keep her from getting hurt again.

Rossi and Hotch looked curiously at one another as the men in the vehicle exited without acknowledging them. After the last door shut the agents were left in silence and had their new found leader, Shiro, not taken the keys with him Hotch might have chanced escaping. Since that was not an option at the moment, he took the opportunity to tell Rossi and JJ the truth about Reid. "Reid's not dead." He said quickly to Rossi.

"What?" Rossi asked.

"Let's wake JJ and tell her before they come back." Hotch shook JJ gently against him, "JJ? JJ? Wake up."

JJ moaned a little and mumbled something incoherent.

"JJ? We need you to wake up." Hotch said a little louder, caressing the side of her face. He distinctly noticed her puffy eyes from the consistent crying and swollen portions of her face that showed faint bruising from where she had been hit. My JJ if I could of done something to help I would've.

JJ moaned again as she started to wake up. Her body ached, throbbed and stung with pain as she began to move and drift into consciousness.

"JJ." Rossi said, gently rubbing her back.

Hotch tried again, "JJ, honey." Oh no, I didn't just say honey. Did Rossi pick up on that? Did JJ hear me? Come on Hotch you have to be more careful than that.

JJ heard her name in the distance. Between her pain and thoughts of Reid re-entering her mind she felt her face distort as tears formed in her eyes, threatening to fall.

Hotch saw JJ was about to cry, before she even opened her eyes and he said, "JJ, it's okay. Reid is okay."

JJ"s eyes shot open, her blue orbs staring with hope at Hotch's pertinent expression. "What?"

"He's alive." Hotch looked at Rossi then back at JJ, "I faked his death giving him a chance to escape."

JJ raised up, lifted her head off Hotch's lap, grimacing in pain when she did so. When the surging pain from the sudden movement wore off she asked, "So he's not dead?"

Hotch brushed lose strands of hair behind her ears, "No." A smile crept across both Rossi and JJ's face. "I'm sorry, it was the only thing…"

"It's okay." Rossi assured him, "You had to do what you had to do."

JJ had awakened enough to take in her surroundings and she noticed they were stopped at a magnificent looking house, "Where are we?"

"That's a good question." Rossi said.

Outside the vehicle Shiro and his men were waiting for the owner to appear on his front porch. Their guns were gripped tight waiting to execute Shiro's plan. Finally a man of prominence, rank and wealth appeared in his doorway. "Masoto." Shiro said.

"Shiro? What are you doing here?"

"I'm assuming you haven't heard Kabuto and Aki were killed." Shiro said with his nose held high.

"What do you mean they were killed?" Masoto clinched his fists.

"Yesterday we arrived to take the agents to the entrance of the secret passage, under the wall. We found them both dead and the four agents standing around."

"Four?" Masoto asked. He knew there was supposed five and wondered what happened and waited for an explanation.

"Yes there were only four and before we left we had to kill one."

Masoto approached Shiro by fiercely walking down the steps towards him, "That's unacceptable! I do not have time to deal with a bunch of imbeciles who can't follow orders! I have drug testing to complete today and tomorrow morning Ian Doyle will be arriving for Emily Prentiss in exchange for weapons! If I am not prepared for his arrival with the agent and a sample of the new drug, we will all end up dead!"

Shiro looked back at his crew and nodded, giving the signal to initiate his plan. Suddenly a barrage of gunfire echoed in the canyon like formation. Masoto was the first dead followed by his men who were standing around him. Shiro quickly gained the upper hand and now had control of Masoto's Empire. When men from the inside reached the doorway with their gun's drawn Shiro threatened them to stand down or be killed. All of them chose to stand down and now they were under Shiro's control.

The gunfire had alerted Morgan to the events taking place at the front of the Mansion. Cautiously he watched with dismay knowing that this changed the dynamics of the house, interrupting his plans to rescue Emily. He rubbed his head out of frustration and when the gunfire ceased he watched intently as they pulled three people out of a parked van. "It can't be?" He said audibly, only loud enough for him to hear. There was no guessing it was Hotch, Rossi and JJ. Where's Reid? "No, he can't be dead." In a moments relief of knowing Hotch, Rossi and JJ were okay it was immediately followed by heart ache, assuming Reid had been killed, combined with an immense about of responsibility for not only helping Emily escape, but the other three as well.

When his nerves and emotions had settled down he started to think rationally about the situation. Maybe this could be a good thing. If I can get Hotch and Rossi free then they could help…Morgan looked back at the house as the last few men entered the domain, one more night and then were outta here.

Emily was mildly conscious after receiving an injection of the new drug. It had the same affects as heroin but they were a bit more intense. In the distance she could hear her team. Emily saw herself struggling on the bed, trying to help them, but there was nothing she could do. It was JJ, screaming, specifically screaming for Hotch, followed by Hotch and Rossi yelling. There was a huge commotion and thunderous banging against the walls. The headboard her hands were tied too vibrated vigorously. Emily tried to yell for them but all that came out was incoherent mumbling. The commotion lasted for many minutes and JJ's screaming was almost a constant. Emily could hear them and she tried desperately to yell but her efforts were rendered useless under the power of Rush.

Morning underground came with a new atmosphere. The men holding Garcia, Rachel and the children captive where acting significantly different, appearing less comfortable and on edge, you could cut the tension with a knife. The slightest feeling of security Rachel and Garcia had, now dissipated under the change in mood. There since of security was gone, something needed to change or they would all likely wind up dead.

After a man left with their empty bowls of rice and shut the door behind him, Garcia asked, "I saw that look. What are we going to do?"

Rachel waited to answer until Henry and Jack went back to scratching figures on the stone walls with broken pieces of rock. When they were occupied she looked back at Garcia and said, "I don't know, but it's not safe here anymore. Something is wrong."

"I agree, but how are we going to get out of here?"

Rachel started looking around.

Garcia scooted closer to Rachel, "What are you looking for?"

"Something to make a shank."

"You mean like a stabby thing?"

Rachel smiled, "Yes a stabby thing." She stood up and walked over to the oil lamp hanging on a rusty hook, "I've got an idea."

"What?" Garcia asked intrigued.

Rachel walked back over to Garcia and took her seat in the floor, "We'll try to escape, tonight."

"Tonight!" Garcia exclaimed and then realized she may have said it too loud.

Rachel could see Garcia starting to get nervous. She placed her hand on Garcia's forearm, "You can do this."

"But…what if…"

"No buts and no what ifs. You have to do this."

"What about all those guys?"

Rachel said, "I'll take care of them."

"All of them?"

"Yes all of them." Rachel assured her.

A short little chapter but I didn't want to over do it. So re-cap JJ, Emily, Hotch and Rossi are all at the same place. Garcia and Rachel are going to make a run for it and Reid's still in the wind.

I'd love to know what you think!
