Chapter 10
- "Elsa?" The blonde heard the redhead mumble. She didn't take her eyes off the road but managed, however, to peek in the rearview mirror and see the redhead open her eyes slightly. The freckled girl was a bit pale and green colored in her face.
- "Hi Anna, are you okay?" Elsa asked concerned. "Where do you live?" Anna just shook her head slowly. She really looked sick.
- "C-can you pull in?" Anna asked with a trembling voice. "I-I have to…"
- "Oh, I get it!" Elsa finally exclaimed and stopped the car beside a park. Then she got out of the vehicle and helped the drunken girl out too. The platinum blonde held Anna's hair while the redhead puked in a bush. Anna sat down and used some of the new fallen snow to clean her mouth and get some of the bad taste away. She looked up at Elsa and noticed her bare legs. Even though she was drunk, she was pretty certain that it was a bit too cold only to wear shorts in this weather.
- "Anna are you okay? Shall I drive you home or something?" Elsa asked still worried. She really wanted to answer the blonde but her mind stuck on this one thing and she couldn't help but blurt out,
- "What lovely legs you have, Elsa…. Isn't this a little cold though?" Elsa couldn't help but laugh at Anna's swaying figure. She thought about the situation for a while.
- "I'm not getting any information out of you, am I?" Anna just smiled her puppy smile and mumbled,
- "Snowflakes! They're like beautiful snowflakes! So white and fragile, if you lean forward to touch them…" Anna reached out for Elsa's legs but Elsa flinched away before the redhead could touch them.
- "They'll melt and disappear from your sight," the freckled girl grumbled.
- "Okay, okay," Elsa chuckled at her drunken friend. "I think you need to sleep this off, I'll let you stay in the guest room… can you stand on your own or?" Anna nodded happily and stood up quickly which resulted in her loosing her balance and falling straight into Elsa's arms. The blonde stiffened and she felt her hands get incredible cold. Anna could feel it too and immediately stumbled a bit backwards. If she wasn't drunk she might have thought it through before choosing to comment about it.
- "Wow your hands are like ice Els! I could feel it through your gloves!" Anna said while she shivered from the cold. "Wh-what's wrong with you?"
- "It's nothing, Anna!" Elsa didn't mean to sound so harsh but nonetheless the words came out like that anyway. She tried to continue with a softer voice,
- "Anna, come on we need to get you warm… here."
Elsa took a deep breath before reaching out her arm, motioning for the redhead to grab it. She did and Elsa helped her back to the warm car, in the front seat this time, trying carefully not to touch her with her hands. It didn't last long for the redhead to stay awake so she didn't notice Elsa carrying her to bed where she took off her cold and wet clothes and dressed her in a fussy and warm pajamas, which Elsa's mother always used to wear when it was cold.
Elsa on the other hand had had a hard time while undressing the redhead. It wasn't just because she was forced to touch Anna this much, though it was also a part of why she suffered doing it. But those freckles! They were like on every single part of Anna's body that Elsa exposed while stripping her off her party clothes. She had never felt such a want to take off her gloves and touch something with her bare hands so bad, not even that one time with her baby sister's guinea pig. And she couldn't stop thinking where else those freckles could appear on Anna's slender and perfect body. She felt a pang in her abdomen and an urge so unbelievable strong, only one thing held her back. The familiar voice in her head, which was protesting against all of her other lustful thoughts. It was a good thing that the redhead slept heavily; otherwise the dozens of fluffy flurries that was created while Elsa got her ready to sleep might have awakened her. When the blonde finally finished undressing the redhead and then dressing her again – but in a huge pajama, she went back to bed.
As she lay there, a couple of thoughts went through her head. "Why did I let her sleep here? This is the last place she can be safe from me… oh I'm so stupid! And I really have a bad feeling about this sudden snowfall. It couldn't be me could it? I mean, I've followed papa's advise, I have been wearing the gloves every time I was outside the house, I should have been abled to control it enough to avoid such a situation… But I did pull them off! Who am I kidding; of course it is my fault! I don't know how to control this disease, this curse! And I don't know how strong these destructive powers can get! Oh my, this can only be me!" At this point Elsa started sweating and tensing up her body and she started to hyperventilate in panic once more. "No wonder why everyone is freaking out about this storm! I'm the storm! I can't be here anymore; I have to go up north! I can't keep pretending that someday I'll be able to live like a normal person. I have to face it… I'm no person…" Tears ran down her face and froze into snowflakes on their way as the evil voice in her head took over and called her a monster once more. She cried herself to sleep in a very cold room.
Elsa woke up very late, much unlike her, the next day thankful to the world for making her sleep dreamless. She stretched and tried to remember what had happened the night before when she suddenly realized that she had a certain redhead very much asleep in her guest room. She jumped out of bed not knowing how to handle this situation. "Why, why did you just have to involve her in your mess of a life?!" She mentally slapped herself. "That poor girl!" With these thoughts, Elsa left her frozen room and peeked into the redhead's. Anna was still asleep, snoring. Elsa couldn't help but chuckle lightly at the freckled girl's hair, which was in a complete mess. "So cute," she thought. "And a bit sexy too… wait what? What are you thinking, stop it!" She felt her inner thighs getting damp and cursed herself for being so sinful.
Then she headed towards the bathroom where she stripped off her clothes (including the gloves), turned on the shower, and stepped into the cold water. While washing her hair and body she couldn't help but imagine Anna do it to her and let out a light moan as pleasure was sent through her spine. The second after she shot her eyes open and jumped back when she realized where her hand was. "Oh my god!" she thought shocked and accidentally covered the bathroom floor in ice. The next thing happened so fast that Elsa wasn't sure that it was real. She slipped and went through the glass of the shower walls and fell right on her right leg. She couldn't help but scream in pain as she felt her bones on her ankle rip apart and made a loud crack. She panted, groaned and wept heavily at the unbearable pain and tears streamed down her cheeks. Then she heard footsteps and a worried voice call,
- "Are you all right Elsa?"
The blonde gulped. It was Anna! Then her eyes suddenly widened in fear when she realized that she had forgotten to lock the door.
- "Yeah, don't worry about it! It's just my ankle, I'll be out in a minute!" Elsa whimpered, desperately trying to sound assuring but the pain wouldn't let her. She let out a little yelp as she felt another pang hit her.
- "Please Elsa, just let me help you," the redhead sounded even more worried than before.
The scream had awakened her and at first she didn't remember where she was and how she got there but then it dawned on her, "Oh no, no, Anna! Please say you didn't call her" but her worst fears was confirmed when Elsa let out another scream of pain. She jumped out of bed, ignoring her massive hangover, and hurried towards the sound. It led her to a door that wasn't locked and the area around it was freezing cold. Normally Anna would have just burst in but giving it a second thought she decided to call out the blonde's name first.
- "Are you all right Elsa?" There was silence for a while when she suddenly heard Elsa's pain filled voice whimper,
- "Yeah, don't worry about it! It's just my ankle, I'll be out in a minute!" Now how was Anna just supposed to believe that? Every inch of her body urged her to go inside but she wanted to calm down the blonde first.
- "Please Elsa, just let me help you," she tried again. She heard Elsa beginning to hyperventilate and now she really started to worry.
- "Please Anna, go away!" she squeaked sobbing. At first Anna was a bit hurt by the blonde's words but she let it pass her and gave her one last warning before going in.
- "Enough Elsa! I'm coming to help you whether you like it or not." Then she pushed the door open, ignoring Elsa's pleads, and widened her eyes to what she was about to witness. A completely naked Elsa was lying on the floor staring at her, her eyes wide in horror. Only a tiny towel had she managed to cover her most intimate parts with, only it didn't do the job very well. She could catch glimpses of the blonde's breast and blushed as she tried focusing on something else. Ice covered the floor and ice spikes were growing out of it coming from… Elsa's hand!
- "What's going on Elsa?" Anna tried in a calm voice before freaking out when it also began snowing inside the bathroom. "WHERE DOES THE ICE COME FROM?!" She slammed her palm against her mouth but it was too late. Elsa started weeping on the floor. She had never felt so exposed, vulnerable, humiliated, and hurt in her entire life. All of her nightmares suddenly came true. She had let her inner monster show. And not only had she done that she had also shown it to the most important person in her life now- the last one she wanted to know.
- "P-Please n-no,,, S-stay a-away p-please…" She managed to stutter through her tears. If only Anna would leave her alone she would be so relieved. She shuddered when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
- "It's okay sweetie," she heard Anna's soothing voice say. "Everything's gonna be all right, I'm here." Anna was still confused and not sure if her eyes were deceiving her or if she was still a little tipsy but it all felt so real and she really had no idea what she should say to this. So she chose to ignore it and focus on the devastated girl beneath her. Elsa closed her eyes and lowered her head in shame as she sobbed, unable to do anything but. Then Anna noticed Elsa's tears turning into snowflakes on their way down her cheek and nose. "Cute". And she was incredibly cold. It was a miracle that Anna hadn't flinched away yet because of the unbearable temperature. The snowflakes fell slowly from a little flurry on the ceiling, making a physical presence of Elsa's feelings. Anna smiled at the thought that she understood everything now. But it also broke her heart to see the beautiful girl in front of her so hurt and tortured.
- "Come on now Elsa," Anna whispered comforting. "We need to get you out of here and into bed." Elsa only whimpered more,
- "N-no, p-please leave me alone… I-I d-don't want to h-hurt you."
- "And why would you hurt me, Elsa? You haven't done it yet and we've already been alone a couple of times." The blonde sighed defeated. It made Anna send her a little assuring smile.
- "Good girl," she said proud. "Now, which one of the ankles is hurting you?"
- "The right…" Elsa sniffled in respond. "Wh-whait!" she suddenly exclaimed when Anna had intended to support her right side. The redhead looked at the blonde in curiosity.
- "Th-the gloves…" the blonde managed to stutter as she pointed towards the old blue gloves she had worn the night before. At first Anna was a bit confused why Elsa only wanted the gloves and none of her undergarments first. But then realization popped into her head.
- "Oh… the gloves help you control yourself?" Elsa nodded her eyes still filled with shame. Then Anna went to pick up the gloves and hand them to the trembling girl on the floor. Once she pulled them on she was abled to relax a bit. The redhead then went to her right side once more and pulled her up causing the blonde to finally drop the towel and they both froze (well not literally). Desperately Elsa tried to cover herself but to no avail. Anna still let her eyes roam freely on the girl's body. "Oh my, oh my!" Anna thought while peeking at the blonde's slender figure. "Those breasts! And that ass! I think I'm heaven!" Elsa couldn't make herself look at the redhead so she kept her sight on the ground and felt her entire face heat up. Anna chose to comment on it to try and break the ice.
- "Well, it's not like I haven't seen something like that before anyway," she laughed nervously feeling her own cheeks turn red too. She knew that she made a bad choice joking about it because right after her last word she felt Elsa tense up and the room getting colder. The redhead sighed as she spoke,
- "It's okay Elsa, lets just get you to bed so I can have a look at your ankle." The blonde nodded slowly, her face still the color of crimson red and her eyes on her feet.
It was a challenge supporting Elsa out of the bathroom because of the icy floor, but after a few slips she managed to get the blonde into her bed where she finally could cover that gorgeous body before she would grow insane. While examining Elsa's ankle she decided that she couldn't just pretend that she hadn't seen what she just had seen.
- "Elsa can you please tell me what exactly is going on with you? Like how did that ice appear in there, am I insane assuming that it was you?" Elsa sighed with tears in her eyes,
- "Anna, I don't expect you to understand this… I just hope that you'll give me a little head start before telling anyone about it, then I'll be gone and hopefully the storm will be gone too…" She yelped in pain and ice spikes started growing out of the walls when Anna twisted her food a bit.
- "I think it's broken," Anna informed and ignored their previous topic. "I can drive you to the hospital if you'd like?"
- "No, no, no, no, no!" the blonde exclaimed as her eyes shot up in fear. "N-no hospital, please… Y-you can call my father's old friend Kai… He's a doctor and… he knows…" Anna nodded understandingly,
- "Okay, where is your phone so I can call him?" Elsa pointed towards her desk and Anna found the mobile in the drawer. She found Kai as the only one in the blonde's contact list except from herself and it made her a bit sad. "Why would you isolate yourself so much just because you are a little different than the rest of us?" Anna thought sadly before clicking "call" on the phone. She waited a bit before hearing a man's voice,
- "Hello? Elsa? Is it really you?" Anna cleared her throat before presenting.
- "No sir, I'm afraid not. You're talking to Anna Fletcher, Elsa's… friend."
- "Oh, how rude off me," the man said politely. "I'm Kai Anderson, Elsa's father's friend. It's very nice too meet you Anna. What brings you to call me this early?" He didn't sound irritated at all. Just wondering and maybe a bit worried.
- "I'm so sorry for bothering you but I really wouldn't do it if it weren't for an emergency… You see, Elsa had a little cold accident this morning-" She looked quickly at the blonde who was lowering her voice in shame before she continued,
- "Which made her hit her ankle quite badly and I'm afraid it's broken." She needn't further explanation. Kai understood.
- "I see. I'll be there in thirty minutes!" He said quickly, forgetting all about his polite tone.
- "That sounds great, bye!" Was the last thing Anna said before hanging up. She turned to Elsa once more with a soothing smile but it faltered slowly into a worried frown when she saw the blonde crying again. The redhead went to sit beside the blonde before asking confused,
- "Elsa, what's wrong?" Elsa sniffled a bit before responding,
- "I-I didn't even go to my family's funeral, which Kai and Gerda arranged and paid for, because I was too scared that I would let my feelings take over and reveal my disease… I haven't even talked to Kai since he called me to tell me about the… the accident."
- "Well… I guess he must understand it… Why do you call it a disease?" Anna felt uncomfortable not sure that she wanted to know the answer.
- "It's tearing me down and prevents me from living a normal life… But that I can live with, after all I have kind of lived isolated from the world my entire life so how could I know different?" Elsa laughed bitterly at the thought. Then she sighed because she knew that she had to explain it to Anna.
- "I was homeschooled my whole life not allowed to go outside unless my parents would let me. I was not allowed to play with my baby sister because they where afraid that I would hurt her. Who could blame them? I am a walking destructive storm… But they didn't give up on me though. They tried finding some cure to my curse till the day they died."
- "You weren't allowed to play with your sister?!" Anna exclaimed shocked.
- "I could hurt her…" Elsa looked away in shame. Anna couldn't believe it. Elsa's own parents wouldn't let their two daughters play together. And the worst part was that they had isolated her from the world. That couldn't be healthy for any child, powers or not. And besides, children got hurt all the time anyway it was just a part of life.
- "Is it because of your parents that you think you don't deserve happiness?"
- "Anna stop, you don't know what could happen as do I. All I know is that I'm dangerous and I'm sorry that I've put you into that danger by letting you be around me. Don't you see? It's my fault that the entire town is freezing and I don't know how to fix it!" Se had raised her voice and started to hyperventilate. Snowflakes started to fall heavily and swirl around her. Anna took a step back.
- "It's my fault, it's my fault," Elsa kept repeating as the snow swirled around faster and faster and she covered her eyes with her gloved hands.
- "Anna run, you're not safe here," She panicked. Her eyes were wide and pleading but Anna didn't give in.
- "No! I'm not leaving you to face this alone, whatever plans your parents had they backfired, it's not your mistake, it's theirs," She took another step forward and got blinded by the snowstorm.
- "No! Don't come closer, please!" Elsa pleaded desperate like never before. "I don't want to hurt you Anna! I-I c-c-can't control it anymore! Please! AAAAARGHHH!" she let out a scream as she squeezed her eyes together but something different happened. Elsa opened her eyes to discover that her breathing was normal, the storm had stopped and no ice spikes grew out of the walls. Elsa looked flabbergasted around the room but there was no sign of the cold, even the room had its normal temperature. Then the strangest thing happened. She actually felt warm, not in an uncomfortable way, no… In an Anna way. She looked down and found the redhead lying over Elsa with her arms wrapped around the blonde in a hug.
- "Anna! Are you okay?!" Elsa asked all worried. But Anna just lifted her head and smiled at the confused girl underneath her.
- "I'm fine!"
- "W-w-what h-happened?" Elsa stuttered still too confused to notice just how close they were and think of the fact that she was naked underneath the sheets.
- "I don't really know, but once I hugged you the room suddenly got warmer and you started to relax a bit." Elsa's eyes suddenly widened at the realization of Anna lying on her and touching her.
- "Y-You better get off me, please! The last living creature I touched with my bare skin froze to death." But when Anna got up she instantly felt that something was missing. "You really have to get over it, monsters do not deserve love." Her head was reminding her. In the meantime Anna had gotten an idea.
- "Maybe we can thaw the town in some way, just like the room got hotter when I hugged you." Elsa couldn't help smiling at that suggestion as Anna herself was standing with a puppy dog smile and those big Bambi eyes on her face. But her smile fainted when reality popped into her mind again.
- "No, Anna…" Elsa said with tears in her eyes. "I could hurt you, don't you see? It was a mistake of me to ever start in High School where I had to be so close to other people and now I have frozen the town because of it." Anna was about to object when they suddenly heard the doorbell ring.
- "I'll be back," the redhead mumbled and went to open the door.
A fat, red-haired man in his mid-forties was standing outside with a suitcase beside him and a bewildered look on his face. But nonetheless he managed to contain the polite tone of voice when he spoke.
- "Good morning, you must be Anna Fletcher. It's a pleasure to meet you." He reached out his hand for Anna to shake. The redhead took it with a smile on her face.
- "It's nice to meet you too sir. Now come in and have a look at her, it doesn't look good." Kai nodded, took his suitcase and followed Anna upstairs. Elsa had managed to pull on a grey oversized T-shirt and some black sweatpants, which were within reach. Her hands were still covered in the old blue gloves. Kai smiled warmly at her with tears in his eyes when he saw her.
Because of Kai's and his wife Gerda's disappointing attempts to have children, she had always been like the daughter he never had and he loved her just like if she was his own. But when Elsa's parents got their other daughter they had suddenly forbidden him and Gerda to see her again. They said that her powers had grown too dangerous and she had to be isolated from others to protect her from the world's unaccepting prejudices and to protect the world from her powers. Gerda cried for days when Kai had told her the news. And when they got the news that Elsa's parents and her sister had died in a plane crash they were convinced that she would want to move in with them but all these years of growing up totally isolated from all the people in the world, except her parents, had proven to have made a negative affect on her. She feared her powers so much that she didn't trust herself to move in or have any contact at all with them or anyone else. It was therefore very surprising that she now had a friend who cared for her even though she knew about her powers.
- "Hi Elsa," the man said in a sad tone. Elsa turned her head and saw Kai smiling at her.
- "Hi Kai," she said, her voice trembling. Kai was about to reach out to give the girl a hug but when he saw her terrified expression he stopped. He felt something cold on his cheek and looked up to the ceiling to discover that it had begun to snow.
- "I-I-I'm sorry!" Elsa exclaimed, her eyes still wide with terror. "I-it's just… I'm just… it's too dangerous!" Kai blinked a couple of times confused of what she meant. He looked up at Anna for advice but the redhead only gave him a sad look in return.
- "But you always loved hugs when you were little, and nothing happened then so why should something happen now?"
- "I was reckless back then, a stupid child. We were lucky nothing happened." Kai's eyes turned even more saddened as he sighed,
- "I see…" he turned around and looked at Anna. "Miss Fletcher, will you excuse us for a minute?" When Anna hesitated he made a soothing smile. "It won't last long, I just need to check on the ankle." Then the redhead nodded slowly and went downstairs. She made hot chocolate that she would bring Elsa when they were finished. While doing that she looked out of the window and discovered that the snowstorm was getting worse outside and lots of snow already covered the most off the windows. "That's why you have platinum white hair and icy blue eyes," Anna thought. "Because of your ice powers…"
Anna wasn't sure whether she had gone mad or not. It sounded crazy just to admit that she had witnessed ice forming and freezing inside a room so to realize it was a person who had caused it, and the very person that she cared so much about, even though they hadn't known each other for that long a period, was just so insane that it could possibly get. A part of her was still in shock and didn't want to believe it. A second part was terrified and told her to run away as fast as she could and warn everyone of Elsa. But the third and biggest part was the loving one. That was the one who saw that behind the façade, when she looked at Elsa, there was just a little miserable girl who was terrified of herself and anyone else. A girl who had grown up in fear for who she was and what other people might think of that. And her parents' methods of helping their daughter had only made everything worse. Anna got more and more frustrated as time went by and Kai suddenly came down the stairs once more. She looked at him with concerned eyes waiting for an answer for how hurt Elsa's ankle was.
- "It's okay," he sighed not sounding any relieved at all. "It's just a sprain…" he looked up at Anna while he wondered,
- "How did you two become such great friends?" The redhead was a bit taken aback by this question but then she remembered how often she had thought about how strange it was how Elsa always seemed so cold and reserved towards everyone, except from Anna. To her she had always been so warm and loving and the redhead had noticed how her face had always lit up when she had seen her.
- "I guess I was just lucky," Anna answered with a smile. Kai smiled back but he was a bit uneasy, not sure of how he should form the next sentences that was about to come out of his throat.
- "Elsa told me that you have just recently discovered… you know," Kai said nervously.
- "Yes that's true… to be honest I'm still a bit confused about this hole thing but please believe me when I say that I could never dream of telling anyone about it… I could never hurt her like that. She just needs someone to believe in her."
- "And you are not afraid of her now where you know?" Kai's face had lit up in hope.
- "Why would I be? I know that she wont hurt me." Kai sighed relived after hearing those words and his face turned into one big smile.
- "That was very nice to hear. Thank you very much Miss Fletcher, now I know there is hope for her. I'm leaving now but feel free to call me whenever you feel the need to." That was his last words before both of them said goodbye and he left. Anna smiled and went upstairs again to find the blonde sleeping peacefully. She looked so adorable that Anna couldn't bring herself to wake her up so instead she went to the guest room where she had slept, found her mobile and her mother's number. "She's gonna freak out," was the last thing she thought before pressing "call".
