Glancing between one another the students were not quite sure what to make of the situation, but Kakashi, their 'fearless' superior, had called for the Hokage to come investigate instead at this point. Who only came because he had nothing better to do on his lunch break, besides, oh maybe, having a much needed lunch break and not have to deal with ridiculous things like this.
"What's going on?" he asked plainly, his eyes boring into Kakashi expectantly.
"There's a zombie in the classroom." he responded, causing the old man to question whether Kakashi was being sarcastic or entirely serious.
"And what do you want me to do about it?" he asked, narrowing his gaze lightly.
"Well, you're like a zombie, so we thought she might mistake you for-" Naruto went to say, clutching his noggin when the Hokage bopped him over the head to cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
Stilling everyone caught sight of the mysterious girl walking past the window, her head turning to look at them for a moment before she continued towards the front door.
"It's seen us." one of the students gasps, all eyes boring into the exit as she finally rounded the corner and pushed the doors open to come outside. Stiffening a few of them shuffled backwards behind the Hokage and Kakashi, as if they were going to safe them from the cannibalistic zombie.
"Please, spare our vital organs, we need them!" someone called, causing Lenore to stop in her tracks and give them a confused stare.
"As hungry as I am, I'm not that desperate." she replied with surprise, the fact that she could talk causing everyone to settle. It was not a zombie after all, it was just some girl that had somehow came out of the ground. This very fact causing them all to question what she was doing under there in the first place, or who she was for that matter.
Examining the students, who could not have been more than fourteen Lenore blinked, they were about the same height as her, which was strange as she was normally a rather tall person. Taking that into account Lenore looked up at the much older pair of men, who were a lot taller than everyone else. No, something was not right here. Lifting her hands to look at them the Uchiha examined her fingers, they looked a little chubbier than usual, almost as though…
"Senpai!" she shouted, elongating the word as she glared up towards the sky angrily.
"Who are you?" one of them dared to ask, causing her to still and tilt her head back down slowly.
"Oh, ohm, my name's Lenore." she answered, wiping her hands on her uniform that was much too big for her. "Where am I?" she enquired, deciding to shoot a question their way instead. "A hidden leaf village?" the woman went on to question, looking around herself at all the trees.
From what she could tell she was basically where she started, but instead of ending up coming out from a large tree she had dug her way out of the basement to a school, which hinted to the fact that perhaps the tree had been knocked down so they could build over it.
"It's a lot bigger." she murmured, scratching her scalp to knock more dust and dried mud out of it. Turning her head about a little more Lenore stopped to turn and look at the nearby mountain, her eyebrow twitching as she slowly raised her hand. "What is that?" she dared question, while the Hokage simply turned to look at it.
"It's our memorial to all Hokage's of the village." he responded, watching her expression shift.
"I see, then that's Hashirama." Lenore murmured, examined the first head on the far right of the mountain. "Don't you think it kind of gives away the village though?" she asked, slowly turning to give the Hokage, who's face was also up there, a sceptical look. Seeing the students were giving her strange looks Lenore frowned softly, perhaps she should have laid low until she knew more about her situation.
"Where's the nearest hospital?" the Uchiha asked, while the old man motioned for her to follow. Well, at least they had not killed her just yet.
Having a nurse check her over for anything more than a few scratches Lenore was glad to know she was perfectly healthy, silently thanking the sage of six paths that the teleportation scroll had worked successfully, well, almost. Somehow the scroll had managed to revert her back to the bittersweet age of fifteen, something she had not anticipated nor wanted. On top of that all of her strength and chakra was gone, like she had never trained at all, causing her question if she had perhaps dreamed it all up. A few recognisable scars told her otherwise thankfully.
"Miss Lenore, you can leave now. Some fresh air should do you some good." a medical-nin spoke, smiling at her as Lenore returned the small expression and wandered down the corridor to go back out into the streets. There did not seem to be any obvious side effects to her sudden relapse into hormonal teenage-hood, but that did not mean she was pleased about it either.
Sighing Lenore paused to sit on a swing that sat underneath a tree, deciding some fresh air and a seat might help her possibly figure out if she could revert the process and get her adult body back. The medical-nin had told her several times, after being requested to check her several times, she was an ordinary, exceptionally healthy, fifteen year-old girl who just needed some rest. This meant there did not seem to be any physical abnormalities at least, so it was not some kind of horrible mutation, as she was most definitely growing like any natural person would at her age.
Grumbling softly to herself Lenore scraped her feet off the ground until she came to a gentle halt, she knew it would only be a matter of time before they started asking her where she was from and where she came from. Lenore needed to quickly consider what she was going to tell them and keep from them before then, or at least come up with a sob story to keep the bloodhounds off of her for a little while.
Hearing someone Lenore grew quiet, attempting to listen in on their conversation when she was certain they were talking about her.
"I've never seen her before." Sakura murmured, peering out from behind a wall. Naruto, being far from elegant, leaned too far and fell over however, gaining Lenore's attention.
"Naruto, you idiot." the pink haired girl hissed quietly, while Lenore simply turned her head away again and went back to minding her own business. Tilting her head down when her stomach began to growl Lenore soon frowned, her mind pondering if there was somewhere she could eat nearby.
Getting up the Uchiha wandered towards the gates to head in a random direction, choosing to ignore the pair who had hidden themselves further behind the wall to try stay out of her line of sight in vain. Along the way in search of food Lenore picked up a newspaper to check the date, her calm expression dulling as she tried to take in the numbers on the top corner.
Doing some calculating Lenore began to sweat slightly.
"Theoretically that's seventy years I've dodged, which would make would make Kakuzu ninety-one…" she mumbled to herself quietly, widening her eyes in shock. "That would make me one-hundred-and-five by the time I return to my adult form if I can't remove it before I age naturally." Lenore whispered to herself, her nose crinkling as she walked slowly down the road. "Almost one-hundred years old with the ass of a fifteen year old…" she then chuckled, imagining just how wrinkly Kakuzu must be at this point, if he was still alive.
Allowing Madara to cross her mind Lenore lowered her gaze slightly, Speckles would not be around anymore then. Taking a moment to consider her situation Lenore hummed, in theory she had been given four different chances at a new life now, the door on her metal cage was swinging wildly in the breeze in fact. Clenching her fist a little the young Uchiha came to a firm resolve. This time she would make this one really count, from the start to the end.
Gazing up at the sun through a small parasol Lenore gave the light splashing her face a determined stare. She was going to make everyone proud, she was certain of it.
"I will not bow, I will not break. I will shut the world away, I will not fall, I will not face. I will take your breath away, and I will survive." she quietly chanted to herself, clenching her other fist up towards her chest. "But first!" she cheered, suddenly darkening to flop forward on her legs and groan. "I need something to eat." she moaned, staggering on to find a shop.
After some aimless wandering Lenore sat down on a rock, deciding to take a moment and wait for someone to come along that she could ask for directions. Looking around Lenore peered at the fish-eyed teen from before, who seemed to be on his own and coming towards her intentionally. Giving him a questioning look the Uchiha observed him stop, his arm flicking out as he gave her a thumbs up.
"I'm Rock Lee." he all but exclaimed, while she simply blinked a little. He was certainly an excitable guy.
"Lenore." she replied, examining his strange, green, skin-tight outfit.
Giving him a searching look it seemed he had not planned that far ahead, and had become a little flustered.
"Hey, about before…" Lenore murmured, deciding she should at least try to make a friend. "I didn't mean to scare you." she uttered, smiling at him gently.
"That's alright, a good scare if good for the youthful heart!" he stated, flicking her arms into an over exaggerated flex while she laughed softly. He was also a very strange teen.
"Do you want to go for a walk around the town?" Lenore enquired curiously, slipping off the rock she was perched on when he agreed whole-heartedly.
Slowly walking beside him the young Uchiha glanced about her, not quite sure what to really say to her new friend. When she was met with his feet Lenore stopped to look down at him, rather confused.
"Don't mind me, I must always train my body to remain in top physical condition!" Lee informed her, while she simply tilted her head.
"So I'm not the only one who feels that way." she huffed, tutting as though Hagoromo was right beside her to hear it.
"You do?" he asked, flipping back onto his feet with awe.
"Yeah, my sensei always told me it was silly to exert myself, but I think you have to constantly push yourself to better yourself." the ebony haired girl answered, crossing her arm.
"This will be the start of a beautiful friendship!" he practically yelped, grinning at her with enthusiasm.
"Really, you want to be my friend?" Lenore asked, taken aback by such a thing.
"Sure, why not? Birds of a feather flock together!" he answered, while her black iris' began to fidget for a moment before she smiled brightly.
Getting onto her hands to copy him the pair carried on down the path, their heads to close to the ground to see the strange expressions they were receiving from passers-by.
"So, where you are from?" he asked, quite pleased to have finally found something in common with someone other than Gai.
"Oh, ohm…" she spoke, pondering what she should say. "I don't really have a village, I've always been on the move." she answered, pouting softly.
"Really? Where have you lived?" the body-building enthusiast asked, leading her up a flight of stairs.
"I've lived in a leaf village not far from here and the waterfall village." she answered, not quite sure how to really explain her time with the sage of the six paths. "I also stayed with a super awesome sage for a little while, but now I'm just trying to find a home." Lenore uttered softly, Lee's body moving backwards so he could look at her as she spoke about the delicate situation.
"I'm sure the Hokage will understand, maybe you can live here!" he stated, his black eyes flickering hotly.
Blinking Lenore considered what he said, her nose twitching when she caught the aroma of noodles.
"Oh, can we go to that noodle bar?" she called, gaining his attention.
"Sure!" he cheered, watching her smile once more and get back onto her feet to scuttle over to it. Rummaging in through her bag to show him the money she had, hoping it was enough for at least one bowl. To her luck she had enough to purchase two bowls of noodles and a dango, which she devoured quickly as Lee seemed to watch her in awe and then mimic her.
Full and quite content Lenore sighed as she lay her head on the table, thankful to have finally filled her stomach.
"You eat like a true warrior." he noted, while she just hiccupped in response and dragged herself to her feet when the stall vendor told them they had to move if they were not buying anything else. Going back to doing a handstand Lee occasionally peered up at Lenore, who was looking at just about everything with an air of awe, his head turning away to watch where he was going whenever she looked down at him.
After a little while longer Lee had taken her to the Hokage's building, leaving her there with the confident notion that he would be totally understanding and let her become an honouree leaf-nin. To be honest Lenore was not sure she wanted to be a leaf-nin, but perhaps talking to someone who was wise, and a little closer to her true age, would help her figure something out.
Sitting in the vacant waiting room Lenore peered about, it was quiet up here, but then it seemed to be that way with any important buildings. Hearing her name being called Lenore headed to the door and carefully knocked, her head peeping in moments later to examine the large desk at the far end of the room.
"Come in." the Hokage uttered, having anticipated her presence. Heading further in, and shutting the door behind herself, Lenore headed over to the desk to stand before him, a slightly nervous expression coming over her face.
Now that she was here she was not quite sure where to really begin, or if she should speak first.
"What can I do you for?" he asked, putting his pen down to give her his full attention.
"Well, you see, I'm a wandering nin." she explained, rubbing the back of her head. "Rock Lee suggested I come talk to you, since I'm not really sure where to go." she uttered, while he gave her a sceptical look.
"I see." he spoke, leaning back a little more. "I have no other meetings for this evening, so let's discuss everything in detail. Start from beginning, where were you born?" the man asked, while Lenore began to explain, albeit vaguely, her rather busy life up until now.
"After my parents past away I was engaged until I left my original village, a small town here in Konoha, when I was much younger. From there I became a waterfall nin by accident, I had originally been looking for the snow village. There was a civil war there and I was forced to flee, though." she murmured, rubbing her arm. "I've been wandering from town to town without a real reason ever since then." she added, while he just remained expressionless. "I was taken in by a sage for a little while as well, who taught me the art of ninshu. He was a great man, and really wise, too." Lenore uttered, smiling sheepishly. "We had to go our separate ways eventually, though… And now here I am." she finally concluded, while he turned away for a moment and nodded.
Pondering something to himself he finally opened his mouth to speak, her stomach coiling itself in knots.
"You have a very colourful history, how old are you?" he enquired, watching her blink.
"You shouldn't ask a woman her age." she pouted, crossing her arms. "But, since it's you, I'm fifteen." she answered sweetly, while he smiled a little.
"You are an orphan?" he asked in as gentle a voice as he could. Pausing Lenore thought over such a question, her hands coming together so that she could play with her fingers.
"I- Well, yes, I suppose I am." the Uchiha murmured, feeling a little too old to really consider herself an orphan now.
"And your fiancé is not out looking for you?" the Hokage enquired, her eyes softening as he struck another very sensitive cord.
"No, not anymore. He think he married another girl a year or so after I left." she answered gently, a jealous knot bouncing around in the pit of her stomach at the mere mention of another woman.
Nodding again he began to take this into consideration.
"Do you know why you came here?" the man enquired, answering almost instantly.
"To learn from the best and become stronger." Lenore stated firmly.
"An how can I tell you will not allow your loyalty to drift towards another village?" the Hokage asked, causing her to still and ponder an answer.
"As long as the village doesn't abandon me I wont abandon it." the Uchiha proclaimed firmly, giving him a defiant grin. After what felt like an eternity the Hokage soon spoke, his form rising from his seat to stand up and retrieve a few piles of paper.
"Very well, we will see what you can do." he spoke gently, handing her a few papers to sign. "I'll be monitoring your progress closely." he informed her, while she simply nodded and took a spare pen to start signing.
After a short while the Hokage glanced down at the floor where Lenore was sitting, her legs crossed as she tugged at her fringe softly.
"Do you what elements you control?" the man asked, while she peeped up at him with a confused expression.
"No." she answered, pouting a little. "My sensei delved more into physical training, like sword fighting, than chakra based attacks when I was with him, he was a firm believer in teaching me how to be fast on my feet and a quick thinker. He admired intelligence more than ninjutsu, actually." she explained, scratching her chin.
"I see, ninshu, was it?" he asked, while she nodded.
"The way of peace, order and inspired hope is that of ninshu." she uttered, grinning brightly.
Humming the man examined her closely.
"Those words are reminiscing of what a wise man once said." he murmured, while she clenched her fist so tightly it made her arm shake, her face firmly staring up at him.
"That's because a wise man did say it!" she answered, getting up to bring him the paperwork. "Before we even met we shared the same belief that we should learn to become stronger to inspire hope and create peace." Lenore uttered, putting them onto his desk. "That's why I promised him I would establish peace and order, and that I would use my techniques to inspire hope in people, not to create a war." she uttered, nodding firmly yet again.
"A noble cause." the Hokage uttered, leaning back in his chair as he checked over the documents to make sure they were correct. Satisfied with the papers the Hokage got up and gave her another bit of paper. "Take this to the houses on the southern side, they have a free apartment right now, we wouldn't want you sleeping in the street." the old man spoke, examining her doe eyed expression soften until she smiled.
"Thanks." she spoke happily, scurrying off after she bowed deeply towards him.
In the morning Lenore had a shower and slipped on the spare uniform that the Hokage had sent over for her; a uniform that consisted of a black vest top with netting that covered her collarbone and the groove of her neck, a basic white hoodie that she could leave unfastened, baggy dark blue trousers which cut off a quarter of the way before her knees, and black boots like sandals which cut off just before her kneecaps as well.
Pulling on a pair of fingerless gloves Lenore cut a hole in the palm of her wrist length black glove, and removed the fingers from the other which was much longer and had metal panels going up it to protect her arm. Around her wrist on that side was a thick metal band and small metal studs just above her knuckles, a narrow panel going across the top of her hand to protect her hand glinting in the light.
Pleased with her new outfit Lenore stick two white clips into her fringe on the right and one on the other to keep her hair out of her face, her hands shifting up to slip a pair of sunglasses over her eyes. It was better to be safer than sorry with a secret sharingan in her midst's. Glancing at her one bare palm and fingertips Lenore smirked, it may have looked strange but these holes would allow her to channel chakra properly without any trouble and would also stop the fabric from getting ruined.
Giving herself a firm look in the mirror Lenore rolled her sleeves up past the elbow and gave herself another glance over, only leaving to start her first job once she was satisfied with her new appearance. Due to her having no previous proof of qualifications the Hokage had set aside a few missions for her to do on her own, which she was to complete and bring back to him to obtain a reward. With an extra incentive to get her rearing to go Lenore looked at the first slip of paper curiously, apparently it wanted her to capture a cat.
Entering the forest Lenore soon came upon a rather large brown animal with a big red bow and beady green eyes, its large body waddling from one side to the other until she tried to approach it. Stopping dead in its tracks the cat stared at her as she examined it, her eyes peering down at the photograph in her hand. It certainly looked like the cat she needed. Kneeling the young woman smiled at the suspicious animal.
"Can I ask you a question?" she enquired, examining it through her glasses. "Thank you for your time." she then spoke, bowing as her hand slipped into her pocket and she pulled out another photograph. "Do you know this woman?" Lenore enquired, while the cat seemed to start spitting at it until she took the picture away. "For your troubles." the Uchiha then spoke, holding out a fishcake.
Carefully coming closer the cat nipped at the edge of the cake, his eyes beginning to sparkle once it got a proper taste. Harking it down almost immediately after that Lenore smirked as it lay down lazily with a purr, no one could resist her cooking. Testing the waters Lenore reached her hands out and began trying to pick the cat up, rather pleased to find it just slump into her arms and let her carry it off with a proud expression stuck to her face.
Having brought the poor cat back to its owner Lenore watched the fat woman cuddle and coo over it, a small sense of guilt coming over her as she brought her stamped bit of paper to the Hokage to retrieve her reward and get her next assignment. All excitement drained from her like the colour of her complexion when she realised he now wanted her to pick up litter around the city, causing her to ponder how this had anything to do with her training.
Using a littler picker to grab cans, wrappers and other things people had haphazardly thrown onto the ground Lenore rubbed her sweating brow, this was a tedious one-woman job but she supposed someone had to do it. Deciding to check the forest nearby Lenore walked through the trees at a leisurely place, singing in an eerie manner as she went.
"La, lalaala, la-la, laa-la-lalala." she murmured, seemingly attracting the attention of a square rock.
When she realised it was actually shuffling on the ground Lenore gazed at it curiously.
"Rocks aren't square, are they?" she asked herself, pouting she examined it. Deciding to ignore it Lenore continued to walk along the path, her feet speeding up when she realised it was following her. Stopping abruptly the box did so too, her head turning once more to look at whoever was hiding underneath it. "You know rocks are round right?" she enquired, giving them a studious glace.
When they did not response Lenore sighed and continued walking, deciding it was probably someone who had been sent to make sure she was doing her job. Bringing the trash to a recycling building the Uchiha then brought the stamped slip back with her, the Hokage fairly impressed with her hard work and quick pacing at that.
"So, what's next?" Lenore asked, giving him an anticipated look of curiosity.
"That is all for today, I'll have something else for you to do tomorrow." he answered, while she simply pouted and left a little disappointed.
