I So Am Not Going To The Meadow!

"Alice, what am I going to do? Why didn't you warn me he was coming?"

"Bella, I couldn't see his future. It blacked out as soon as he made the decision to go to the movies, I guess. I'm sorry, Bella, but I think he's going to be a little harder to track down than you thought."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, if you try calling their house until he answers, you know that they'll just disconnect the phone lines, and if you go down there, he won't be home. You keep missing him every time you go." I should have known that Alice would be checking on my future now that the werewolves were coming into the picture.

"I'm still confused. How do you know I'll keep missing him?"

She sounded sympathetic. "Because your future never disappears when you decide to go down there. You just keep going to an empty house. I'm sorry, Bella. It just looks like you're going to have to think of some other way to find him. Maybe you could go hiking and then tell him in his wolf form that you know it's him."

"I'm not even going to comment on how stupid that idea is. Didn't you forget something, Alice? Perhaps the fact that Laurent and Victoria are running around in the woods too?"

Oh my goodness, I think she really did forget about them. At least, that's what I took her silence on the other end of phone as. Finally, I heard her mutter something. "Crap! I can't believe it! Okay, don't go to the meadow anytime soon, alright? I don't want you getting eaten by Laurent anytime soon. And maybe he could even help us if we need it in Eclipse, right?"

"My thoughts exactly, Alice. I was thinking about trying to talk to him in the meadow, but I guess I won't. There's no real way to guarantee that the wolves would show up before he tried to kill me."

"Right. Okay, I'm coming home soon, alright? I know I already told you, but I thought I'd just remind you again. So, don't get any ideas about jumping off that cliff any time soon! I saw the look on your face when you and Jacob went by there."

"Of course you did, Alice. I'm not going to jump off the cliff unless someone pushes me off. I promise."

"Well, I'm going to make sure Ava watches you a lot closer once that dates rolls around. Speaking of Ava, have you two talked yet?"

"Alice, you're the psychic! And no, we haven't yet because we got slightly interrupted by Mike's sickness and Jacob's issues at the movies the other night. I was going to call her sometime this week to get together. Maybe I'll call her on the day I'm supposed to go to the meadow so I'll have something to distract me from going there."

"Hmm, sounds good to me. Just get a move on, alright? I miss having us as together as like the cute version of the three musketeers."

"Right, I'll get on that right away. Okay, I have to get going, I'm going to stalk Jake anyway. Bye, Alice." I hung up on her before she could tell me that Jacob wouldn't be home. I didn't care. Book be darned, I'm going to tell him I know about his wolf-y problem before I have to somehow save Laurent. And when I do talk to Jake, it'd better be raining. And he better be shirtless.

Just saying…

Every time that I drive by their house, though, no lights are on and Billy's car is gone. One time I even peeked into the garage, but no one was in there either.

Once I got home, I found out why Billy was never home. Sue's memorial for Harry was going to take place somewhere in La Push and Billy was taking care of a lot of the details. Of course he was. When Uncle Charlie was on the phone with him later, I thought I would listen in on another line. They talked about the details of this memorial for a while, but then they started talking about me and Jacob.

"You know, Billy, I'm really sorry about keeping Bella from going down there, but maybe she can soon. I thought that she might be able to go down there sometime this weekend if that's alright."

"Well, to tell you the truth, Charlie, it's a good thing you grounded her when you did. It looks like Jake just caught mono somehow and the doctor said he shouldn't have any visitors for a while. Tell Bella we're sorry, but she's going to have to stay away for a while. She should understand." Lying jerk! Yeah, I'll understand…not!

"Oh, jeez, Billy I'm sorry. I'll tell Bella as soon as possible. Tell Jake to feel better. I'll talk to you later." Well, at least Uncle Charlie didn't catch me listening in. I can just hear the lecture now.

I was about to hang up the phone too when I heard Billy on the other line. "Bella, I know you're there."

Crap! How'd he know? "Hey, Billy. How'd you know I was listening?"

"Bella, please, I had two daughters who loved listening in on phone calls. Give me a little credit." Why didn't I think of that? Drat!

"Right, of course. So, mono? Really?" I'm sure I sounded a little whiny.

"Yes, mono. I don't think you should see him anytime soon, Bella, for your own protection. I'm pretty sure that you know what'll happen if you aren't careful around him."

"Yeah, I do, but he's got to be miserable right now. Come on, Billy, I can keep him calm enough. If I tell him I know about everything then maybe it'll all be okay."

"No, Bella. He's new at all of this. It's too dangerous. Besides, the way Jacob made it sound earlier, I didn't think you wanted to be around him anymore."

"Well, the thing is, I was a little worried about his condition and I thought I could hold off him becoming part of the pack if I wasn't around him. But since I couldn't avoid it, I guess there's no real reason to stay away from him now." I didn't throw in the part about Hallucination Edward.

Billy's tone turned suspicious. Really suspicious. "You know, Bella, you never explained how you knew about the pack in the first place, let alone how and when you knew Jacob would become part of it, too." Oh yeah, I'm going to blab all of my secrets to one of the elders in La Push via a telephone. I think not.

"And I plan on keeping it that way. Listen, Billy, I have to go. But, please, tell Jacob I'm coming soon. I need to talk about all of this with him, and I don't care if it's too dangerous. I'll be fine, I promise. Goodbye!" I hung up before Uncle Charlie came running upstairs about dinner. He started really giving me the I know something's wrong look all the time, especially since I was practically confined to my bedroom as of late.

Not hanging out with Ava or Jacob was taking a serious toll on my social life, mainly because they were the only people that comprised my social life. Well, Hallucination Edward did too, but he's been on vacation for a while. During one of the days that I waited for divine inspiration to strike about what to do with Jake, I played with meditation, thinking I could somehow bring him up, but it turns out that only being around Jacob brings him out of the recesses of my brain.

Well, that's not entirely true. I'm sure doing something stupid like jumping off the cliff would bring him out really quickly, but my self-imposed fear of heights would keep me away from that.

It wouldn't keep me away from going to see my best friend that I still needed to talk to. Our semi-truce extended to school, where we threw each other small smiles, but we still hadn't exactly apologized for everything. I sort of think she was right anyway. I did kind of overreact when it came to seeing Angel back in town. Heck, I've been the overreaction queen lately.

Plus, I've been the bored queen waiting for the day when Jacob is actually home when I come around. Driving to his house every day is doing me no good. Maybe Alice's little plan about running around in the woods has more merit to it than I thought.

I suddenly wished that Jacob had a cell phone like the rest of the Twilight characters did. It would make everything a lot easier. I wouldn't have to get through Billy to talk to him.

I concocted two plans: either start writing notes to him like a fifth grader…or show up in the woods with Laurent in tow. I didn't bother trying to call since the phone lines would already be disconnected. At least until Saturday. Then I would call and see if Jacob would be at any particular movie that I could barge in on like he did to me.

That would be fun if he was actually at a movie. Which, of course, he wasn't. I called Billy anyway once Saturday rolled around out of sheer boredom. "Billy, how's Jacob doing? Is the mono keeping him down?"

"Bella, you know as well as I do that he never had mono. He's doing better. He's giving some friends a ride up to Port Angeles—I think they were going to catch a double feature or something. He's gone for the whole day."

"What movie? I thought I might surprise him there. You know, just like he did to me?" Come on, crack already! Tell me he's out patrolling or something! He hesitated for a while. I took the hesitation as a confession. "He's out in the woods somewhere, isn't he?"

I swear I heard him growl. "I don't know what you're talking about, Bella. Is there anything else you wanted?"

"No, not really. Just be on the watch for me. I'm coming whether he wants to talk to me or not." I made my voice sound perky and upbeat. I'm the winner again even if I didn't get an exact location on where Jacob was. I knew he was in the woods somewhere.

"Bella…" He warned.

"I'll be fine. Nothing I say could get him riled up. Maybe Paul, but I have information they need. Something about the red head that's been running around town. I think Sam might be interested in anything and everything I can tell you about her."

"Well, I'll be sure to tell him and Jacob that you called. Bye, Bella." He sounded slightly miffed and slightly interested. Victoria must be a tender subject down there.

"Tootles!" I called, despite knowing that he would have already hung up. Man, I don't know what it is, but winning an argument of any kind just fills me up with happiness. That is, until I think about Edward and how I lost right before he left.

But thinking about that didn't stop Uncle Charlie from seeing the smile on my face as he was about to walk out. "Something…up, Bella?" He stopped with a smile of his own.

"Nope, nothing's up Uncle Charlie. Just…talking to a friend. Turns out Jacob doesn't have mono, he's absolutely fine. I was thinking about going to see him later maybe."

"Oh? That's sounds good. I was just going out to pick up some more things for this memorial service. I think the people down there liked this guy better than me. I'm feeling a little insignificant." He tried to shrug it off, but I could tell this whole thing really was bothering him.

I jumped up quickly to give him a big hug and an animated smile. "Don't worry, Uncle Charlie. You and I both know that Sue and the kids love you, which is all that really matters. You need to calm down a little, I don't want you having a heart attack or anything." Once the words were out of my mouth, I thought that he might actually be a problem. Since there was no real Harry Clearwater, who was going to have a heart attack? Oh my gosh, my Uncle Charlie might die! I covered up all my worries to smile at Uncle Charlie. Oh gosh, I hope he doesn't die. He can't, he's Charlie!

He looked significantly happier, and shrugged me off again when I started pinching his cheek when I said he might have a heart attack. "Oh, get off of me. You know I'm healthy as a horse. Now, I have to get going before Sue gets home. She'll kill me if I'm late for dinner tonight. You go have fun with Jake." He started out the door, but turned around like he had an afterthought. "Oh, and I like the smile. You're looking happier lately. You're finally getting over him, aren't you?"

I took a deep breath. I had to calm my heart down when he mentioned Edward just like I have to whenever anyone else mentions Edward. "No, I'm not. I think I'll still love him for a long while. He was too good looking for his own good." It looked like he was about to go into a long lecture, but then he just shook his head and left.

Of course, I wasn't going to go running around in the woods, but he never told me to stick to a certain destination. Going over to Jacob's would be a complete waste of time, and I already told Alice that I would go talk to Ava today. But, since I wouldn't be going to the meadow, and I wouldn't be seeing Hallucination Edward there, I think I might make a pit stop before I head down to her little cottage in the woods.

I tried calling her, but the call went to voicemail. Maybe she and Angel are out hunting or watching for Victoria. "Hey, Ava, I'm coming over. I think it's finally time I apologize for being such a bitch, so watch out for me. I'm on my way now. Bye!"

I ran to my truck as fast as possible since it was slightly raining. For a second, I thought I might run to La Push to see if I could get a glimpse at a wet shirtless Jacob, but I figured it wasn't raining quite hard enough. I drove past the driveway for the Cullen's house three times before I actually found it. In the rain, it is infinitely harder to find the stupid turn off.

I got some vivid flashbacks, though, when I walked up to the Cullen house. I saw the tree that Emmett slammed Jasper into, which still had a huge crack in it. I even tripped on the crack in the driveway that I had previously tripped on my birthday. I started to curse at it, but then thought better of it and managed to use my hair clip to get into the Cullen's house.

Looking around the huge living room made me feel a lot worse than I thought it would. I can still see the outline from where the huge TV was that we all watched Twilight on. All the memories of the fun I had over the summer here came flooding back, almost making me dizzy.

I thought, stupidly, that all the nostalgia would make him show up, but there was no Hallucination Edward anywhere. Even when I got up to his old room, there were no hallucinations around. But somehow, being in his room made me want to start crying until someone came around to make me stop.

Hopefully, since Ava knew I was coming, she might hear me crying in the big house. After just sitting there crying for what seemed like an hour, I heard someone calling from the living room. "Is someone here? Hello? Carlisle? Esme? Anyone?"

Okay, I avoided the meadow for a reason. And that reason suddenly came to me in the middle of the Cullen's home. "Laurent?" Shit!

I grabbed my cell phone out of my purse and quickly had a text message ready to send to Ava in case I needed it. I didn't want him investigating anything upstairs so I ran as fast as I could down to the living room, where he was waiting with mild surprise on his face. "Bella? I didn't expect to see you here."

"Shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean, I am dating one of the Cullens, so it would make sense that I would be here. You, on the other hand, are supposed to be in Alaska with the Denalis if I'm not mistaken." He started walking casually towards me on the staircase. I came down, but stopped and leaned against the rail on the bottom step.

"You're right. I did go to Alaska. Still, I didn't expect…when I came in here, I thought the Cullens had moved on."

I was waiting for Hallucination Edward to pop up any second now. He'd better give me some good advice. At least better than 'Lie' and 'Threaten him'. I tried to laugh, but it sounded more forced than I meant it to. "No! Of course they didn't move on. They're just in and out a lot. Ava and Angel actually are just down the pathway, and Alice is upstairs in her closet." Bad lie! Bad lie!

Frenchie just kept grinning that all-knowing grin at me. "And the others?" Hallucination Edward finally did pop up. He was glancing worriedly between me and Laurent.

I gulped. Oh, crap, this is not good. "Umm, well Carlisle and Esme are out right now looking at another cottage she wants to renovate. And I'm not really sure where Emmett and Rosalie are, they're not around much." Hallucination Edward glared at me when my half-hearted lie came out.

Laurent started circling me all of a sudden. He wasn't buying into my bluff at all. I hit send on my phone as he inched closer. "And what about your Edward?"

"He's around somewhere, I guess. He's probably just outside talking to Angel, so maybe I should go get him." I moved towards the front door. I tried to make it look like I was watching for them.

"You suck at lying, Sarah." Hallucination Edward scolded in my ear.

Help me, then! I snapped back at him in my head. I swiveled back around to find that Laurent had inched himself even closer to me.

"It smells like the house has been vacant for a while…"

"It has been. There was a bug problem and they haven't gotten around to calling in an exterminator yet."

"Lie better!" Hallucination Edward snapped at me.

"I'll call Edward and tell him you're here. You know, he's pretty protective of me, and he's still pretty shaken up about the whole thing with James. So, hang on, I'll be right back."

"Is he really?" He nodded, but I could tell that he didn't believe me. I pulled out my phone and started dialing Angel's number. Hopefully, he would pick up and come help me. Yet again, no answer. I sent another '911 house!' text to Ava.

"So, how are things going with the Denalis?" I thought about making a run for my truck, but even my lovely tank couldn't keep a vampire out. I would have to keep him occupied until they showed up. Which better be soon!

"Good. I like Tanya very much, and her sister Irina even more…I've never stayed in one place for so long before, and I enjoy the advantages, the novelty of it."

"Oh, yeah?" I cut him off. I didn't realize that my voice could squeak as high as it did. "The Cullens like that too! You know, I heard from one of them that you and Irina had something going on up there. You should be with her, not fooling around here when I can't seem to find anyone."

"I would, Bella, but the restrictions are difficult for me…I'm surprised that any of them can keep it up for long. Sometimes I cheat." For a second, I almost thought he would lick his lips. He's going into serious creeper mode.

"That's not good. I hope you don't do that around here. There's a group of people around here that take action when that sort of thing happens."

At least I confused him long enough for me to back away a little more. His eyes snapped back up after he thought about what I said for a minute. "People? The Cullens told their secret to the people in the town?"

"No, of course not. When I said 'people' I didn't really mean 'people'. This particular group of people are sort of…not human." I told him with a shrug.

"Good, Sarah. Use the werewolf card. He's heard the legends." Hallucination Edward finally approved of something I did.

"Really?" He looked mystified. "Is that why the Cullens left?"

"They didn't leave!" I said through clenched teeth. "And no, the Cullens and the Quileutes get along quite well as long as no one gets killed around here. I've actually been talking to one of them quite a bit, and he was telling me that they aren't very happy with a couple of vampires. A red head, in particular. Apparently she's caused them a lot of trouble lately. Could Victoria be around?" I was gaining the upper hand now. He looked a little worried about the non-human Quileutes, even if he still didn't know exactly what they were.

"Yes. I actually came here as a favor to her." He looked back at me and suddenly his worried expression changed. He looked like he came up with some divine plan. Oh, dear God, help me. "She won't be happy about this."

"I wouldn't be happy about the werewolves either. I mean, those guys are amazing when it comes to fighting vampires. I've seen a couple of them in action." Whoops, Laurent, did I slip and say they were werewolves? Yes, yes I did. Suck on that!

"I wasn't talking about werewolves, Bella. I was talking about me killing you." I started to throw out another veiled werewolf threat, but he cut me off. "She wanted to save that part for herself. She's sort of…put out with you, Bella."

"Well, I mean I might have called her a bitch once or twice, but I didn't do anything to her."

"I know, it seems a little backward to me, too. But James was her mate, and your Edward killed him."

"So, she's going after me because I'm Edward's mate? Oh, okay, that makes sense. Well, you know, if you killed me, Edward would be about as mad as Victoria is if not more. Plus, Alice and Ava are practically sisters, so I'm pretty sure you wouldn't last too long after that. And then, of course, my best friend is a werewolf and he would tear you to shreds as soon as he got the chance." Okay, I was a little bolder than I probably should have been. He looked a little peeved at me now.

"I'm not one for veiled threats, Bella. I would be careful in your situation, if I was you. Besides, I wasn't planning on killing you here. I wouldn't want to ruin Mrs. Cullen's acute decorating style with blood."

I was unprepared for what happened next. He scooped me up faster than Edward ever did and started running. I couldn't even tell what direction we were going in. I screamed and thrashed in his hold, despite knowing it would do no good. Maybe, if I got lucky enough, the wolves or someone would hear me. "Let me go! Stop! Please! You can't do this!"

We were surrounded by trees when he finally stopped. He set me down so that my back was to him. "Look at it this way, Bella. You're very lucky I was the one to find you." He leaned in closer to my neck. I could feel his cool breath on it. It was nothing like Edward's but the visual my brain came up with was nice.

"And you're lucky we're the ones who found you." I heard from behind us. Finally, they show up! Laurent whipped both of us around to face Ava and Angel. They were walking towards us like we were running into each other on the street. She is really good at keeping a poker face, unlike me. "Laurent, let her go, now."

He let me go as soon as the words were out of her mouth. I love her power, I really do! She could have said, 'put her down, gently' though. It would have felt better when I landed on the ground, hard. Angel came and pulled me up. He walked me back over to Ava, who was watching Laurent with a mixture of rage and concentration on her face. "Ava, it's alright. Tell him to go."

She looked like she really didn't want to. "Bella, he was going to kill you if you didn't notice. He deserves to die. Don't you, Frenchie?" He nodded like a puppet. His eyes gave away all the fear that he was suddenly feeling.

"Ava, let him go." Angel tried. She looked back at him like he was suddenly the enemy.

"Ava, do it for Irina." I hedged again. Come on, come on! This newborn vampire rage stuff is supposed to wear off soon, right?

"Fine!" She huffed at both Angel and me. She turned her attention back towards Laurent. "But, before you go, I think you need some instructions. First, tell Victoria that Bella is too well protected and she should give up her little hunt. Second, go back to Alaska and don't come back here unless we ask you to. And finally, human blood smells and tastes revolting. You understand all of that?" He nodded, still looking terrified. "Good, now start running." Ava said with a smile and a wave.

She rushed back to me and swept me into one of her bone crunching hugs. Angel even joined in. "Sorry for taking so long, Bella. We were out hunting." Angel explained. Suddenly both of them stiffened.

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking between both of them. We did it! We were able to keep Laurent and me alive, so what's the problem. Ava took off about a football field length away, looking ready to fight again. Angel took off after her, leaving me to run at a human pace, wondering what the hell happened. "Hey! Guys! Wait for me!"

"Stop! Let him go! DROP HIM!" I heard Ava yelling at someone. When I finally caught up to them, I figured out who she was yelling at. Or rather, what. "Sam, sit!" Ava commanded the huge black wolf that currently was dropping what looked like an arm on the ground next to a crumpled pile that resembled Laurent.

He started putting himself back together, while Ava gave more commands to the growling wolf in front of her. Angel kept his eyes on her and the wolf, ready to protect her at a second's notice. I looked around to see that four other wolves were sneaking closer towards us. "Ava! The others are coming!" I yelled over to her.

"Tell your boys not to attack any of us. There is absolutely no threat here. You can leave now." She said rather rudely to wolf Sam. She had to give Laurent all of his orders again, so I was free to watch the other wolves. They still hadn't run off, so I kept watching until I found the one I was looking for.

He was a lot closer than I thought he was. When I looked behind me, he was less than ten feet away from me. I knew it was Jacob from the color of his coat. God, that sounded weird. I had to identify my friend based on the color of his fur. I guess the whole 'werewolves are real' thing is just now hitting me.

I was a little unsure whether to wave or put my palm out like I did back home with my dogs. I stopped myself from identifying him as a dog since he still had a human mind despite morphing into a giant wolf. Seriously, I did not expect the wolves to be that tall. They were crazy tall. And the funny part was that short Ava was definitely holding her own against the giants.

I laughed under my breath, and then started moving closer to Jacob. I decided the wave would be better than treating him like an actual dog. He might be a little angry if I did that.

When I was almost close enough to reach out and touch him, he finally met my eyes. They were still the same as when he's human. I'd sort of forgotten about that. He looked somewhere between upset I was there and happy, too. I was about to say something when I heard a loud growl from behind me. Why is everything sneaking up on me today?

The growl came from another big grey wolf, I'm guessing Paul. I was about ready to chuck something at him, when Jacob took off. My next actions were probably not the wisest thing I could have done, but I couldn't stop myself. While all the wolves started running away, I started running after them. And I sort of screamed, "Jake, wait!" at him.

Ava and Angel caught up to me in no time. They were standing next to me, too, when wolf Jacob stopped dead in his tracks. For a second, I thought a hunter or something shot him.

But then, of course, he turned slowly around to face me again. Those eyes that were already as big as my fists practically bulged out of their sockets. Apparently he wasn't expecting me to know it was him. I thought Billy or Sam or someone would have shared the whole 'Bella knows everything about werewolves somehow but no one knows how' secret with him already. Guess not.

I don't think any of us moved for an hour. Or at least that's what it felt like. The other werewolves had run far away already, somehow forgetting the beta of the pack. Ava snapped out of the group stupor first. "Okay, not that this hasn't been fun, but we're all going to go now. Bye!" And, with that, she had Angel throw me on his back just like Edward used to do, and we took off in another direction.

We had apparently gone in the direction from where I came from because we were back at their cottage within a minute. Angel set me down in front of Ava, who did not look happy. In fact, I was a little scared. And, I went on a limb thinking that it was about what I just did with Jacob. "Whoops!" I shrugged my shoulders with an innocent look on my face. She started tapping her foot. Okay, I'll just start apologizing. "I'm sorry?"

"Sorry? Why on earth would you be sorry? I'm sorry! I was waiting for you to yell at me!"

Great, now I'm confused again. "Why would I yell at you? I'm the moron if you hadn't noticed. I mean, just look at what I did today! I broke into the Cullen's house where I was attacked by a vampire that I had meant to avoid by not going out to the meadow. Then I yelled at the boy who just recently turned into a werewolf while he was in wolf form. And he didn't know I knew he's a werewolf! Plus, I have hardly talked to you in weeks because I was being a humongous bitch by keeping you away from your husband just because I felt lonely. I was waiting for you to yell at me, not the other way around. So, in conclusion," Man, I need to breathe, "I'm sorry. Really really sorry!"

Angel came up beside us and pushed us together so that we were all hugging again. "I'm sorry too, Bella! I didn't mean to blow up at you like that. You know I was on my time of the month when I got bit, so I'm stuck in PMS mode for eternity. Best friends?" If she wasn't a vampire, she would be crying as hard as I was.

"Well, I don't know what I'll tell Jacob now, but…ow!" She slugged me on my arm. Hard! "Best friends…"

"Forever!" Angel yelled like a girl. No really, it was high pitched and everything. He jumped up and down like we usually did, too, until he noticed that we were both staring at him like he'd lost it. "What? Can't I be happy that you two finally made up?"

"You can be happy somewhere else. We're having a girls' night, and we're calling Alice. So…shoo!" Ava gave him a quick peck on the cheek and sent him off. I don't think she had any idea where he would go, but she didn't care. I didn't either. I had my best friend back!

After I got the ok from Uncle Charlie and Sue, I stayed with her for the night doing our typical sleepover things. We even called Alice to make it seem like everything was back to normal. I didn't stay up all night since I was a stupid human and I fell asleep while we were watching a movie.

Stupid human needs.

Someone shook me awake, though, when it was still dark. My eyes couldn't adjust to the dark before the unknown someone put their hand over my mouth and pulled me outside. I didn't even have time to scream…

Yes...it's a cliffy. I'm very sorry but that's the way its going to be!! *insert evil laugh brought along by the many many months of having no edward in the story other than the hallucination that talks to me every night*

Review, you know you want to...xoxo!

"The accident? You two weren't in a car accident? A vampire was after you? And they didn't tell me?" Uh-oh, trembling shoulders, hissing, and flashing eyes. Now, I don't have a PhD on werewolves, or shape-shifters, whatever, but I'm thinking Ava and I should be walking or running away in a rushed manner.

"Ava…" I warned.

"We're good. Jake, cool it. Seriously, it's all good. I'm a vegetarian now just like the Cullens. You should know that much at least. I took the name Elizabeth Masen to pose as Bella's ex's sister. And my husband is going to be back any second, so I think we should probably cut this particular pow-wow short. Go home, or just go running before you wolf out in front of the human, m'kay pumpkin?"
