Kurt and Blaine's wedding was in less than a week so Rachel had suggested that the two of them come over on her day off with Santana to have a movie date. But Kurt had already made Sophie try on her dress 10 minutes into stepping in the apartment. So now Blaine was currently making some snacks in the kitchen whilst Sophie twirled around for the other three in her flower girl dress.
"Could you look any cuter?" Santana said high fiving Sophie
"I wanna weaw this dwess tomowwow" Rachel laughed turning to look at Kurt
"Well I don't think uncle Kurt will let you touch it until his wedding"
"Pwease unca Kuwt" Kurt just laughed patting Sophie's shoulder
"I love you Sophie but no, this dress is staying with me and Blaine until after the wedding" Kurt leant down to help her start to take the dress off. Sophie frowned at Santana.
"Unca kuwt is siwwy"
"Very silly...a hot mess of silly" Rachel rolled her eyes at Santana who was clearly trying to get on Kurt's nerves. Blaine came walking into the room with some snacks on a tray.
"Here we go guys" Sophie ran up to Blaine as he set the tray down on the coffee table.
"Can I have some?"Kurt laughed, he swooped Sophie up off her feet and into his arms before her hand could touch the plate.
"There is no way you are touching that food mrs! Not until you have taken this dress off"Santana was currently stuffing a cucumber stick with hummus into her mouth
"You can tell she's Blubbers kid! She ran to that food faster than a fat kid on a fast"
"Santana!" Rachel playfully punched her "leave my little girl alone" Rachel extended her arms to Sophie, who quickly leaned over and went to her, she tucked her head under Rachel's chin and draped her arms around her neck "she's perfect, and all Finn"
"No she's defiantly not all Finn, she's got your personality without a doubt and she's started doing that thing where she taps her foot when she's annoyed like you!" Rachel hugged Sophie tighter smiling, she rested her head on hers, whilst she swayed gently back and fourth "she's just becoming a mini you, it's scary" Sophie smiled pointing a finger at Santana and shouted.
"No!" She looked up and Rachel then back at Santana "no don't be mean to my Rachie!"Sophie smiled at Rachel whilst Santana rolled her eyes and took a sip of her drink before she spoke out of the side of her mouth to Kurt and Blaine.
"Yeh she's Rachel's kid alright" Kurt and Blaine just nodded whilst they watched Sophie and Rachel who were now dancing with each other, laughing. Rachel spun Sophie around, both of their hair flying behind them. "Berry, come on! We can't start the movie until you get soph out of that dress...lady Hummel's orders!" Rachel sighed taking Sophie into her room to change her.
"Hey soph just stand there for a minute, I want to get a picture for daddy"
"Ok" Sophie smiled widely showing all of her teeth.
"Say cheese"
"Chhheeesssseeee"Rachel snapped a shot on her phone.
"You look beautiful baby, come on let's get it off and hung back up before uncle Kurt goes crazy"Rachel undid the buttons at the back off the dress and gently lifted it over Sophie's head, she placed it on a hanger and pulled a Tshirt and leggings out of the wardrobe to dress Sophie in. Sophie lifted her arms and let Rachel change her easily. When she was finished, Sophie sat down on Rachel's knee playing with her hands. "I'm going to go and watch the movie now, why don't you stay in here and play?"
"B-but then I wiw be awone"
"Well you can come and play in the living room soph but I don't think it will be fun"
"Ok" Sophie jumped off of Rachel's knee and ran towards her toys sat at her little table. Rachel headed out of the door and back into the lounge to find the movie ready to go and all 3 of her friends lay on the couches. Santana turned her head when she heard Rachel come in.
"Here Berry, tell lady Hummel that I gots Sophie next Friday not him!" Kurt looked up at Rachel annoyed
"Rachel I told you me and Blaine wanted to have her over for a night, Santana gets her at least once a month! It's not fairs she's only stayed with me and Blaine that time we babysat her"
"Yeah because she loves me so I do a little sleepover with her once a month"
"Rachel?" Rachel smiled guiltily
"Sorry Kurt she's going to Santana's, I thought you wouldn't want her since the wedding is in two weeks. I can't tell her she's not going to Santana's now, she'll flip and start crying" Santana sat there with a smug grin on her face towards Kurt whilst she ate a tortilla chip
"B-but why does she get her all the time, she's not even her real aunt!"
"Woah Hummel! Your not blood related either! She fucking loves me" Kurt huffed crossing his arms
"Well when we get back from our honey moon we want her!"
"Fine you can have her when you come back, are you happy? Now can we please just put the movie in?" Kurt smiled grabbing the tv remote and pressed play
Finn was currently at the gym with his friend he'd met at college 'jake'. Since they'd both chose different professions they tried to meet up when they could.
"So how's the restaurant?"
"It's good, you need I come by some time with Rachel and soph"
"Yeah we will man, it's just been so busy lately, I don't even see Rachel, and Sophie is pretty much asleep when I'm with her"
"Dude that sucks"
"Yeah but you know me and Rach knew it would be like this, that's why Rachel didn't want kids until after she's done with Broadway, because she wants to spend time with them"
"What about Sophie?"
"Well I mean she tries her best and she has her every morning before she takes her to daycare, I know Sophie isn't technically hers but I can see it hurts her leaving her everyday"
"Aw man"
"I know...but you know Sophie will start preschool when she's 4 and I don't think it will be so hard on Rachel then
"Yeh, yeh, so what you guys doing for Christmas, I know it's still a good few weeks away"
"Erm well since Kurt and Blaine just got their new big apartment, they want to host it this year, Blaine's parents are going to his sisters and then my parents are coming over to Kurt's and Blaine's"
"That sounds nice"
"What about you?"
"I'm going to go to my parents, they always throw a big Christmas Day thing, what about Rachel's dads, doesn't she want to see them?"
"Well they're Jewish so they're actually away for the holidays since the won't be celebrating it"
"Ah right, cool"
"We're throwing a big Boxing Day gathering at our place, so your welcome to that"
"Thanks man"
"You know Rachel has a friend she's in the play with...she's single and I know Rachel was thinking that maybe you too could meet"
"No"
"Dude why not?"
"Because I'm fed up of going out with random crazy chicks, I'm not your friend Puck!"
"I've met Millie! She's a really nice girl"
"Would you date her?"
"What!?" Jake held his hands up ready to defend himself
"Would you date her? I don't want to have someone who you wouldn't even consider yourself! Obviously I know your with Rachel but if you wasn't, would you find this girl attractive and would you date her?"
"Dude come on" jake just stared Finn out waiting for an answer "never breathe a word of this to Rachel...but yes, yes if I met her I would find her attractive and possibly date her"
"See that's all I needed so yeah I'll meet up with her" Finn rolled his eyes moving off of the treadmill and started to head back to the locker room. In the locker room he decided to check his phone before jumping in the shower, it read *1 new message -Rach*. He opened it to see the picture of Sophie in her flower girl dress and oh my gosh she looked fucking adorable, well that's what he thought and maybe he was a bit biased. He loved everything right now, he loved Sophie so much and he loved Rachel with all his heart. Most people say that you get sick of waking up to the same person everyday but not him. Seeing Rachel's smiling face every morning, hearing her breath his name when they made love, hearing her perfect laugh and watching her mother his beautiful daughter was all he needed everyday. Thinking about this, he just decided to skip the shower and head home to his girls. 30 minutes later he walked through the front door of his apartment to see everyone lay out on the Couches, Rachel smiled at him whilst the others carried on watching the movie.
"Hey baby, your back early"
"Well I got your message" Finn held up his phone "and I couldn't wait to come home to my girls" he walked over to the back of the couch and knelt down pressing a kiss on Rachel's shoulder and neck until she turned her head and kissed him on the lips, they kept close together whilst they talked just enjoying their lips brushing one another's "I thought everyone would be gone"
"The movies nearly finished"
"Then can I have you all to myself"
"Well don't forget your daughter" Finn grinned kissing Rachel again
"Where is she?"
"She's in her room playing, she's been a bit off today"
"Maybe I should let her take a nap for a while" Rachel smiled at him knowingly before kissing him a little more deeply this time, twisting her body a but more, she brought her hand up into his hair whilst he leaned over a bit further, pressing hot kisses on her neck. It wasn't until a puking sound brought them back to reality and made them pull apart.
"You guys are disgusting, we're not in high school anymore, I don't want to sit on the other couch whilst you two make out" Kurt said, rolling his eyes and looking at Finn
"Go home then, and you won't have to watch it...plus if you leave I think we can go a little further" Finn grinned at Kurt whilst Rachel blushed smacking Finns arm playfully
"Finn he doesn't need to know that"
"We all didn't need to know that" Santana chirped in. Finn ignored him before kissing Rachel one more time
"I'm going to go see Soph"
"Ok baby" he headed down the hallway and into Sophie's room. He just stood there for a minute taking her in, her little face was focused on the teddy bear next to her as she talked to him. He knocked on the door at the side of his smiling, Sophie looked up seeing him in the doorway
"Daddy!" She jumped up running towards him, grabbing onto his leg smiling. Finn picked her up nuzzling his nose against hers
"Hey baby girl!"
"I missed you daddy, will you pway with me?"
"Course I will" he walked towards the tea party she had set up at the table. He placed Sophie down and she went to sit with her bears
"You sit there daddy!" She pointed to the chair next to her. Finn pulled it out trying to sit on it though it proved difficult since it was a tiny chair. Sophie was pretending to pour tea into her little set and feed it to her bears. Finn was sat miming drinking his tea and making sounds like "um" and "yummy"
"I saw the picture of you in your flower girl dress soph, you looked very pretty"
"Yep but unca Kuwrt won't let me wear it tiwl the wedding"
"Yeh uncle Kurt won't let daddy near his suit so your not alone"
"But youwr bigger than unca Kuwrt just say...no Kuwrt I'm the boss"
"I don't think that will work with him but good idea Sophie...I like this tea by the way it's very nice"
"I wish Rachie could pway with us, Maybe she can pway when she finishes the movie" Finn just smiled nodding at Sophie, before he leant down and kissed the top of her head.
"Do you know how much I love you?"
"Wots and wots" just then Rachel came into the room with her arms folded across her chest, she leant against the door frame watching Sophie and Finn
"Can I play as well?" Sophie looked up to see her and nodded before taking a bear off one of the chairs and placing him on her bed
"You sit here Rachie"
"Thankyou sweetie...ooo are we having tea?"
"Yep and I got wots so you and daddy can both have some" Sophie gave Rachel a cup before she started asking the bears how they were doing and topping up their tea. Finn smiled at Rachel before wondering where the others were
"Where is everyone?"
"The movie finished so they went home" Finn grinned at Rachel before looking back at Sophie who was currently rubbing her eyes and yawning. Rachel saw this too and leant across running a hand through Sophie's hair "I think it's time for somebody's nap" Sophie pouted shaking her head
"No I wanna pway"
"But you can play after your nap and you'll have so much more energy, you've been tired a lot today soph, this will make you feel better"
"No, no nap!" Rachel stood up pulling the covers back on Sophie's bed.
"Come on mrs, you need your nap" Sophie turned to Finn giving him puppy dog eyes
"Pwease daddy!" Usually this would work on Finn and he would give her five more minutes but today...right now, Finn knew what he'd be doing with Rachel once Sophie was napping so there was really no room for negotiation.
"Nope come on" he stood up lifting Sophie as well and placing her into bed. Rachel tucked her in and kissed her on the cheek before Finn did the same. They both knew she would be sound asleep in 10 minutes or so, so Rachel went into the lounge to move the plates and cups her Santana, Kurt and Blaine were using. Finn quickly went to have a shower since he smelt of sweat and he knew Rachel didn't like it. Around 15 minutes later Rachel went to Sophie's room to check on her, she was fast asleep with her teddy cat roo-roo, Rachel closed the door slightly so they'd still be able to hear
her but she always slept at least 2 hours solid without waking up. She ventured back to the bedroom to see Finn was still in the shower, she pulled off her jumped and lay on the bed in her tank top and yoga pants reading a book whilst she waited for him, she'd only been lay there about 2 minutes when Finn came into the room with just a towel wrapped around his waist, small droplets of water were running down his chest. Rachel smiled placing her book on the bed side table.
"Um Mr Hudson..." Finn grinned making his way over to the bed where Rachel had now spread her legs to accommodate him. Finn sat down between them and ran a hand up her leg.
"Like what you see miss Berry"
"More than like" she leaned forward capturing his lips, slowly he started to push his weight against her so she'd lie down, he moved on the bed so he was now lay on top of but careful not to squish her. "I wish I'd jumped in that shower with you now" Finn brought his lips down to hers as he spoke
"It's ok, I'm pretty sure" he bit and licked her skin slowly, making her breathing pick up "that...I can still make you...scream in here"
"Um I'm not so sure" she playfully grinned at him, biting her lip. Finn ran his hands up her body, trying to pull her tank top off. Rachel got the idea, she patted his chest so he'd sit up enough for her to pull it up over her head and toss it to the side. Finn licked his lips when he saw that she wasn't wearing a bra, he wasted no time taking his lips to one of her nipples and swirling it around with his tongue. Rachel moaned pushing his head further into her chest, wishing he could just consume her all up then. Finns mouth soon returned to hers, kissing her hot and passionately. Rachel could feel his now large arousal pushing up against her through the towel. She ground up bringing her hips to his, making Finn drop his head to the crook of her shoulder and moan slightly. Getting the hint, Finn ran his hands down Rachel's sides and hooked his fingers into the sides of her pants. A knock on the door stopped him from pulling them down any further though.
"Daddy?" He huffed dropping his head and looking at Rachel
"She has the worst timing ever!" Rachel smiled slipping from under Finn and putting her top back on whilst he pulled on some pants. Another knock came again
"Daddy, Rachie!" Once they were both decent Rachel opened the door to Sophie who was stood there looking upset.
"What's wrong baby girl" Rachel lifted her up in her arms cradling her close
"I don't feel well"
"Sweetie you were fine when I put you too sleep"
"Yeh but I got really cold"Rachel held a hand up to Sophie's forehead noticing that she was actually quiet warm. Finn stood next to them rubbing a hand up and down Sophie's back
"Finns she's really warm, I told you she seemed off today"
"How do you feel Sophie?"
"My head huwrts and my tummy is funny" Rachel frowned hugging Sophie to her as she swayed back and fourth
"Finn go and get the calpol" Finn kissed Sophie's head before walking out of the room, Rachel took Sophie to the bed and lay her down. "It's ok baby, daddy will get you some medicine and you can sleep here in our bed until you feel better" Rachel placed her hand on Sophie's head noticing she'd gotten warmer since Rachel lay her down. Finn came back into the room holding the calpol and a glass of water. He handed it to Rachel who read the side if the bottle to check how much to give her. She pulled out the white plastic spoon and poured one measure for her. Sophie didn't protest since the calpol tasted like strawberries. After a drink of water, Rachel changed Sophie into some pyjamas to make her more comfortable and tucked her into their bed. Soon Sophie fell asleep but Finn and Rachel had never been with a sick child before so to be on the safe side, Rachel lay with her incase she woke up.
3 hours later Rachel opened her eyes to see it was dark outside, the room would be dark if I wasn't for the bedside lamp that Finn must of turned on. Rachel turned to her side to see Sophie still fast asleep, her hair was all over the pillow and her little arms were up by the side of her head. She reached over placing a hand on her forehead to check her temperature, it had come down a lot, she ran the back of her hand across her cheek, gently stroking it. Sophie's eyes began to flutter open, it took a moment but her eyes finally focused on Rachel. Rachel smiled, speaking in a whisper to Sophie
"Hey baby girl, how are you feeling?"
"I'm not as hot...where's daddy?"
"I think he's in the living room, do you want to go and see him?"
"No...can I stay here with you"
"Of course, I'm just going to go and get you some water though so you can have a little more medicine to keep your temperature down"
"Ok" Sophie gave a weak smile before closing her eyes again. Rachel kissed her forehead and climbed out of bed, heading to the kitchen to grab the medicine and a glass of water. On the way back to the bedroom she saw Finns office light on. Opening the door slowly, she saw him on his computer with his back to her. She placed the medicine and water on the side before walking up behind him and running her hands down his chest from behind. Finn spun around in the desk chair so he was now facing her.
"Wide awake now, sleeping beauty?" Rachel smiled, giving him a kiss on the lips and sitting on his lap
"What you doing?"
"Just looking at apartments, how's soph"
"Her temperatures come down but she still seems off, I'm going to give her some more medicine now"
"Do you think it's anything serious?"
"No just a bug maybe, I don't know. I've never really been with or looked after a sick child before. Maybe we should call your mum?"
"Me either, I'll give her a ring in a minute" Finn pulled his hand across his face closing his eyes as he sighed "I'm going to have to call someone to look after her tomorrow"
"No I'll take it off with her"
"Rach you don't have to do that, we can just call someone"
"No I don't want anyone else taking care of her, she needs to be with one of us when she's sick"
"I know she'd like that better"
"Exactly I'm not going to leave her when she's sick...speaking of which, I better get back to her and give her some medicine" Rachel climbed of of Finn and picked up the water and calpol again.
"I'll be in, in a second"
"It's ok there's no rush" Rachel headed into the bedroom to see Sophie had already fallen asleep again, she went up beside her and gently rubbed her arm up and down
"Sophie" nothing. "Sophie boo" she started to stir in her sleep until she opened her eyes and looked at Rachel "sit up a bit baby, you need to take some more medicine"
"Ok" Sophie pulled herself up slightly and let Rachel feed her the spoon of sticky pink liquid before taking the glass of water from her and starting to gulp it handed the glass back to Rachel and snuggled down in the bed again. Rachel walked around to the other side of the bed and lay next to her, stroking her hair softly. A few minutes later Finn came into the room and sat next to Rachel.
"Is she asleep?"
"Yep"
"Do you want to have some dinner? You've not eaten since this afternoon"
"Yeh dinner sounds good"
"Ok, I was thinking of just putting a pizza in the oven"
"Hmm...Yeah I could kill for some pizza right now" Rachel got up off of the bed and pulled Finns hand to follow her to the kitchen. Finn put the pizza in the oven whilst Rachel grabbed some grapes out of the fridge and sat eating them on the couch. Finn came in and placed her legs on his lap whilst he rubbed her feet gently. Rachel let out a small moan of appreciation. "Baby you're so good at that"
"Just keeping my beautiful fiancé happy"
"Well she is...I'm very happy right now, that nap was so nice today, I might start napping with Soph more often" Finn smoothed his hands over Rachel's legs, admiring how soft they were.
"You've been sleeping a lot more these days baby, you ok?"
"I've just been doing a lot of shows and you know, taking care of Sophie when I'm not performing is just tiring" Finn leaned to the side kissing Rachel on the lips
"I've told you Rach, we could get someone to look after Sophie, like a nanny, they could run her to daycare, pick her up and watch her before I come home from work and do stuff in the apartment"
"And I've told you absolutely no way...and as if I'd let you spend money on a nanny when you don't even let me pay for half of the bills"
"We've had this conversation before, I could pay for this apartment before you moved in and I can still pay for it now, there's no need to spend your money" Rachel sat up moving closer to Finn
"But it's not my money, it's our money and you used to pay for the apartment on your own before you had to pay for daycare and extra food and ballet lessons, please just let me pay for something Finn" Finn stroked the side of her face with his hand, smoothing her skin over with his thumb.
"Baby I love you and all this work I do, it's to pay for things like this, so that I can provide for our family, I don't want you to have to worry, you already do an amazing job looking after Sophie and you don't even have to"
"Ok" Rachel leaned up kissing his lips slowly "and of course I have to look after Sophie"
"I know I just mean, she's my responsibility and my past, but you treat her like your own and Rach I don't think you can ever understand how appreciative I am of that!"
"Finn you don't have to thank me...she's our future, I don't want Sophie to look back when she's older and think that I loved our other children more than her as a child, I don't want her to think that she isn't the world to me because right now she is, I know what it's like to grow up without a mother and I don't want her to know that feeling, I want her to feel loved and cared for and I definitely don't want her to think that I didn't put as much time into her as I will do with our other children...I just don't want her to look back at her childhood and remember being with a nanny, I want her to remember, baking with me or going to the park or you know just us three together...and I want her to know most of all, that I will never leave her" Finn just stared at Rachel for a moment, he didn't know what to say
"Finn please say something" but he didn't, he just stood up and walked off to his office, Rachel thought he'd just walked away until he came back into the room with a large brown envelope and sat down next to Rachel
"I um, I ordered these a while ago but I didn't know when to give you them without freaking you out, I thought maybe it was a little forward so I was going to give them to you after the wedding but I think now is the right time" he placed the forms on Rachel's lap and just sat there in silence whilst he waited for her to open them, Rachel gave him a small smile whilst she pulled open the envelope. She pulled out the papers inside and tried to skim read them to try and see what they were...then she saw the title at the top. Tears came to her eyes as she read it
"F-Finn are these?" Finn nodded stroking her leg gently
"I want you too adopt Sophie...you know if you want to, I want her to be yours in every way possible"
"Finn...I don't know what to say"
"Rachel if this is too much I understand, I know you f-" Rachel leant forward kissing Finn on the lips; they only pulled apart when they needed air.
"It's perfect Finn! Of course I want to adopt her, I already think of her as my own"
"Really?"
"Really!" Rachel moved so that she was straddling Finns hips, she took his hands in her lap as she intertwined their fingers. "I've always said since the beginning Finn, your all I need and so is Sophie" Finn leaned forward kissing her lips. Rachel could feel him smiling into the kiss, they pulled apart and Rachel leaned her head against his. "I love you Finn"
"I love you too"
Sophie was still sick, it had been 4 days so Finn and Rachel were starring to freak out, they didn't know what to do with something like this, the only time Sophie had really moved was when Finn put her back in her own bed. Rachel didn't want anyone else with her when she was sick but she had to go back to the show after a day so Leroy and Hiram had flown out to come and look after Sophie, there wasn't enough room for them to stay at the apartment so they looked after Sophie in the day, stayed for dinner in the evening and would head back to their hotel later.
Rachel was currently heading home after a show, usually she'd hand around to sign programs and take photos but she'd just rushed off the past could of days to get home to Sophie. She put her key in the front door and opened it to see her dads sat on the couch together.
"Hey guys" she smiled as he hung her coat up on the hook near the door.
"Hey sweetie how was the show? "Hiram stood up hugging Rachel and giving her a kiss on the head. Rachel smiled and pulled back from her dad to look up at him
"It was good, the usual"
"That's my little star"
"How is she?"
Leroy stood up and picked up the cups on the coffee table and went to the kitchen to clean them whilst he spoke "Sorry sweetie she's not any better, she's been sleeping practically all day, she came in here before to watch a movie with us but ended up being sick so your dad put her back in bed" Rachel turned to look up at her dad again
"Thank you" she left her fathers embrace to head towards Sophie's room, she opened the door to see her night light was on. As she got closer she could see Sophie's little face bundled up with her teddy. Rachel ran a hand across her face noticing she was very hot. Her face looked a lot thinner over the past week, she'd thrown up a lot over the past few days and the only thing she'd ate was a piece of toast which she also threw up. She looked so small and fragile right now it hurt Rachel. "Sophie?" Sophie opened her eyes slowly and turned to look at Rachel.
"Youwr home" her voice sounded weak and was only a little louder than a whisper. Rachel smiled holding a hand to her face
"How are you feeling?"
"Cold... really cold"
"Aw sweetie you feel burning hot, have you had some more medicine since I left you this morning" Sophie thought about it for a second before she nodded slightly.
"Grandpa Leroy gave me some" Rachel smiled and nodded at Sophie. She'd started calling Rachel's dads her grandpas a while ago one day when they were talking with her over Skype. They called Finn son so she just thought that was the way it worked and since then the name grandpas was what they had to her.
"Good, I'm going to go and get you some fresh water and give daddy a quick call, I'll be back in a minute"
"Ok" Sophie closed her eyes again and buried her face slightly into her pillow. Rachel gave her a kiss on the forehead before getting up and heading out the room. She pulled her phone out and walked into the living room where her fathers were chatting.
"Papa did Finn come home at lunch?" Leroy shook his head at Rachel
"Nope, we haven't seen him all day" Rachel sighed unlocking her phone "what's wrong sweetie?"
"Nothing, just Finn being Finn..." She scrolled through the numbers in her phone and called Finns mobile. It rang a couple of times before he picked up.
"Hey"
"Hey...Are you nearly home?"
"Um yeah I'm going to set off in a minute I just have to do t-"
"Come home Finn, it's 9:30..."
"Yeah Rach I just have to d-"
Her voice became more soft as she cut in "please" Rachel saw her fathers eying her so she moved into the hallway "Sophie's still sick and I-I just need you..."
"I'm on my way"
"Thank you...I love you"
"Love you too" the phone went dead and Rachel placed it back in her pocket before she walked back into the lounge.
"What was that about sweetie?"
"I just want Finn to come home, it's late, he shouldn't work so hard!"
"Sometimes that's what you have to do, I doubt Finn wants to be there"
"I know but that company just don't appreciate him! He's too good for them, and he's just too nice! He needs to learn when to say no to them" she sighed walking into the kitchen to get Sophie a glass of water when she realized that her father had cooked dinner. She walked back out with the water smiling at them "aw you didn't have to make dinner!" Hiram held up his hands
"It wasn't me! It was all your papa" Leroy smiled at Rachel waving a hand as if to say it was nothing
"Oh it's just a lasagna, I didn't want you to have to worry about cooking when you came home"
"Aw papa, Thank you"
"It's ok sweetheart, actually I'm going to put the garlic bread in since Finn is on his way home, and then we can eat"
"Ok, I'm going to stay with Sophie until Finn comes, come and get me when he's home"
"Alright" Rachel walked into Sophie's room with the water in hand. Sophie looked up at her with that weak smile again. Rachel set the water on the side before pulling her shoes off and climbing into bed with Sophie. She immediately snuggled her little body up against Rachel's, she felt boiling hot but she was shaking like crazy.
"Shhhh baby it's ok" Rachel ran her hand up and down her back soothingly.
"I feel s-sick"
"I know, I know, ssshhh...try to go to sleep" Sophie snuggled her face against her chest as she stroked her fingers up and down it lightly. It wasn't long before Finn came into the room. Rachel turned her head towards the door and she smiled at Finn as he walked towards them and knelt next to the bed.
"You sounded upset on the phone" they spoke in quiet voices since Sophie was finally in a deep sleep.
"I'm just worried, she hasn't gotten any better Finn, I just needed you here...she needs her daddy"
"I know, that's why your dads can go enjoy New York tomorrow because I've told work I need to look after my little girl" he stroked the side of her face gently.
"If she's not better by tomorrow night I'm taking her to the hospital, I know you think I'm over exaggerating but she shouldn't of been ill for this long" Finn signed looking at Sophie
"Yeah ok that sounds fare, I just don't want to take her to the hospital, it's like admitting that we couldn't take care of her"
"No it's making sure that she's totally and completely well" Finn smiled leaning forward and kissed Rachel on the lips. She sighed happily against his lips when they broke apart before she wriggled out of the bed but was careful not to wake Soph. She tucked her back in and went into the kitchen with Finn; her dads had already lay out the table with the plates and food. They all chatted; catching up on each other's day, once dinner was all finished with Rachel's dads headed back to their hotel leaving Finn and Rachel alone. Finn washed the dishes whilst Rachel dried and put them away. It was around 20 minutes later that they were both lay in bed, Rachel was tucked up in a ball with Finn pressed up against her back and his arm around her torso. They both fell into a peaceful sleep holding one another.
"Ok so I've got my phone and I um I left all the medicine on the side and oh make sure to change her wet flannel when she gets too warm, even though she'll tell you she's cold" Rachel was running around the apartment freaking out over little things
"Rach, Rach! Slow down! Me and Soph are going to be fine, I think your forgetting I am her dad, I do know how to look after her" Sophie was currently curled up against Finn with a comforter around her on the couch, she was looking up at Rachel as she was running around the apartment. Rachel stopped when she saw Sophie looking at her, she moved to sit down next to them and stroked the side of Sophie's face gently.
"I wuv you" Sophie smiled turning to Rachel as she pulled onto her lap and cuddled her.
"I love you to" Rachel smiled closing her eyes and leaning her head on the top of Sophie's just enjoying the moment. "Finn if she gets any worse, you call me! And if she even cries for me once, you also call me! I already spoke to the director and he totally understands if I have to leave the evening show to my understudy"
"Rachel I'm not going to call you if she cries for you, she's going to be fine!"
"Finn please don't! Just call me, I want to he here if she wants me, my dads always said they'd call if she needed me" Finn rolled his eyes looking at Sophie
"Soph how many times did you ask your grandpas to call Rachie?" Sophie looked thought about it for a second until she said
"Um twice then I fell asweep and she came home"
"And how many calls did you get Rach?" Rachel huffed at Finn whilst she cuddled Sophie closer
"Ok so my dads were lying to me" Rachel's voice became a bit more soft and sexier "but you won't will you baby" Finn sighed
"Ok I'll call you" Finn reached his arms out and took Sophie back onto his lap "ok come on baby girl, Rachie has to go to work now" it's took 20 minutes of panicking, kissing and hugging until Rachel was finally out the door and on her way to the theatre. The matinee performance had gone great, as much as it killed her to stay away, she knew if she went home to Finn and Sophie before the evening show she would find it hard to come back to the theatre. So she decided to just chill with Millie in her dressing room.
"Rachel stop checking your phone! I'm sure she's fine"
"I know I was just reading a text"
"Yeh sure ok" Millie moved crossing her legs and putting them up on her chair. "So how's the wedding planning coming"
"I wouldn't know, Kurt's gone crazy with the whole thing, I mean obviously I have my say in colours theme and venue but really I just pick stuff and he's making it happen"
"He's like a real life frank in father of the bride" Rachel burst out laughing because Millie was right! She'd never thought of Finn that way before.
"Oh my gosh he totally is! Aw I do love him though, although he drives me insane it's nice that he's doing this when his own wedding is in less than a week!"
"He's mental, like seriously crazy"
"Yeah but brilliant, so on a serious note, are you coming to mine and Finns Boxing Day party?"
"Yeah I think so, I don't have any other plans and it should be Fun, just as long as you and Finn aren't trying to set me up with anyone" Millie pointed a finger at Rachel who went all quiet and tried to look casual.
"Of course we won't try to set you up with ANYONE" Rachel sucked at lying
"You've already found a guy haven't you"
"No"
"Rachel"
"Ok I told you its Finns friend Jake! He's a really nice guy! Has his own business! And he's handsome; he's like 6ft with brown hair, pale skin and blue eyes! Come on Millie you know I wouldn't set you up with a douche" Millie rolled her eyes at Rachel who was literally begging
"Erm you did set me up with a douche"
"Ok seriously when are we going to let that go? Finn told me he seemed really nice at work! How was I supposed to know he was secretly a creep"
"Rachel I'm not going on a date, with any more of your fix ups ok, I'll come to the party but your not hooking me up with him!"
"Fine! Come on, do you want to go as get something to eat?" Rachel stood up grabbing her coat
"Hell yeah" Millie followed her out of the door. It felt like the time was moving slower than usual and by the time the evening performance was over, Rachel had never been so happy to grab her things and rush out of the theatre to get a cab home. She opened the appartment door and hung her coat up before turning around and seeing Finn lay on his back on the couch asleep, Sophie was lay out on his chest also dreaming away. There was a blanket over both of them; a whole range of medicine on the coffee table, an ear thermometer on the floor and Finn was holding a cold compact in his hand. The scene almost melted Rachel's heart, she pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of the two, quickly sending it to Carol, and she knew she loved getting photos from Rachel and Finn of Sophie. She leant down next to the couch and gently kissed Finn on the lips to awake him, his head was turned sideways facing her and his eyes began to open slowly. A sleepy half smile on his face began to appear when he saw Rachel
"Hey you" his voice was thick with sleep.
"Hi" Rachel kissed him again "how's she doing?"
"Well she's not been sick since this morning and she ate a bit of toast"
"Oh thank god" Rachel gently stroked the side of Sophie's face being careful not to wake her. "She just needed her daddy to make her feel better"
"Actually every time she did something like ate some toast or wasn't sick all she wanted me to do was tell you, she wanted to be better for you"
"She did?" Tears came to Rachel's eyes as she looked at Sophie sleeping.
"She loves you Rach" Finn sat up slowly so he didn't wake Sophie before he got up and carried her too her room, he tucked her into bed and turned her night lamp on. Out in the lounge Rachel was currently looking through a take out menu. Finn grinned sitting next to her "what happened to, we shall never have takeaway twice in a month miss healthy girl"
"She got the part in a Broadway show and couldn't be bothered cooking dinner when she came home" Finn laughed a little pulling Rachel closer into his side and kissing her temple. "What do you want?" She held the menu closer to Finn as he looked at the page
"Erm chicken in Szechwan sauce with noodles and a side of seaweed" Rachel poked his stomach playfully
"Somebody's hungry!"
"Hey I've been looking after Sophie all day"
"Yeah yeah ok, I think I'm going to havveee...uummmm vegetable fried rice with soy and garlic sauce and I can steal some of your seaweed"
"Sounds good, do you want me to order it?"
"Nah I got it, you can just chill until it comes"
"Well what I had in mind wasn't exactly chilling!"
"Um Mr Hudson what's gotten into you?" Rachel began to lie down as Finn lay on top of her between her legs.
"I can't help myself, my fiancé is insanely hot and I haven't been able to touch her for nearly a week" Finn began to kiss down her neck making Rachel moan under him
"Um...Finn...w-we need to order the food"
"Nah it can wait" he moved further down on the couch and unbuttoned her jeans pulling at them slightly to reveal her hip bones, he started to leave hot open mouthed kisses there making Rachel wriggle under him. Both were so preoccupied that they didn't hear the apartment door open.
"Oh you has gots to be kidding me!" Rach jerked a little in surprise whilst Finn dropped his head and huffed at knowing that voice all to well. Rachel sat up and began to do her jeans up when Finn moved off of her.
"Santana what are you doing here? And I told you that key was only for emergencies!"
"Chill out Berry it is an emergency"
"What's wrong?"
"I had a bottle of wine in my fridge that needed drinking and I wanted to see how my sick niece is! If that's not an emergency, I don't know what is" Rachel tried to keep a straight face but she gave in and smiled when Santana sat down. She turned to Finn who currently looked more pissed off than words could describe.
"Baby could you go and get 3 glasses" Finn turned to Rachel with an almost pouting look
"But Rach we were guna…" He ran two fingers along the line of her jeans and tucked one finger inside leaving her imagination to the rest. Santana huffed throwing a pillow at Finn
"Ugh could you not do that whilst I'm here, I'm sure Rachel will give you what you want when I go home"
"Shut up San!" Finn turned back to Rachel who just leant up to his ear to bite on his earlobe lightly before she whispered something to him
"Wait until Santana's gone and we can do it any way you want" Finn pulled back looking at Rachel with a grin on his face
"Even?" He didn't need to explain, Rachel knew what he meant but she never let him do it with her
"Any way..." Finns grin spread wider as he jumped up and went off to get some glasses. Santana watched him walk away before she turned back to Rachel
"I don't even want to know what you just said to him"
"No you probably don't, anyway we was going to order some Chinese want some?"
"Yes! Now you're talking, you know what I like so just order for me ok, I'm going to go and see Soph"
"Ok...oh and Santana do not wake her up!"
"But I want to see her"
"Santana" Rachel's tone was warning towards her. Finn came back into the lounge with three glasses placing them on the table
"Do what she says San, seriously she goes all mama bear around Sophie when she's sick" Santana huffed rolling her eyes as she walked off to Sophie's room. Rachel had ordered the Chinese food by the time San came back. They sat talking and drinking until the food came, when they moved to the dining table to spread it all out.
"I should probs go home after this"
"No San don't be silly, you can crash here, we can't have you walking home this late! Can we Finn" Finn just shook his head since his mouth was currently stuffed with Chinese food. "Plus Sophie will be happy to see you when she wakes up"
"That's nice but I'd rather not sleep on the couch whilst Finns grunting his monkey mating calls down the hallway" Rachel rolled her eyes at Santana
"Finn doesn't grunt!"
"Erm yeah sure! I lived with you Rachel...remember! And whenever Finn was over, you both made me gag in my sleep with the noises you two made"
"Do you want to stay or not because after that insult I'm quiet fine with you getting kidnapped on your way home" Rachel pulled her tongue out at Santana who sighed
"Yeh fine I'll stay, but only so I can see that beautiful niece of mine!" Santana took a bite full of seaweed and smiled at Rachel. They ate the rest of their food before they went back over to the couches to have a few more drinks and chat, it started getting late so Rachel grabbed a pillow and some blankets for Santana on the couch, They said goodnight and headed to their bedroom whist Santana watched TV.
Finn went to the toilet whilst Rachel changed into her nighty. When he came back into the room she was leaning over the bed pulling the covers back. Finn came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist as he began to place hot open-mouthed kisses in the crook of her neck. She tilted her head back moaning slightly as his hand came up to caress her breast. "Um have I ever told you how sexy you are?"
"You might have mentioned it" Rachel pulled away from him and lay back on the bed. She bit her lip keeping eye contact with Finn as she pulled off her nighty revealing her black panties and no bra. "As promised..." Rachel peeled off her underwear and threw them off of the bed. "Anyway you want" Finn grinned, his boxer briefs now feeling extremely tight. He pulled them off and kicked them to the side before climbing over Rachel. His mouth trailed from the valley of her breasts and up her jaw line to her ear.
"Turn over!" His voice was deep with lust. Rachel grinned kissing him hard and gently biting his lip before she turned over onto all fours slowly. She looked at him over her shoulder.
"What do you want to do to me Mr. Hudson?" Finn leaned over so his head was near her shoulder
"Fuck you from behind" Rachel just stared at him shocked, they never really used dirty talk like this but she kind of liked it. Finn saw her expression and his face began to turn red "sorry Rach that was too far I um" Rachel laughed pushing her behind into Finns groin
"Come on baby...I'm waiting" Finn leaned forward trailing hot kisses down her spine whilst his hand brought his erection up to her center, he brushed it through her folds and Rachel shuddered under him "uh Finn please!" She turned back to look at him, her eyes dark with passion and lust. "I need you in me" that was all Finn needed to hear, he pushed into her slowly as he held onto her hips.
"Oh god rach...your so tight" Rachel let out a moan of pleasure at Finn entering her. She dropped the upper half of her body onto the bed as she bit down into a pillow when Finn picked up the pace. Finn held on to her hips as she stook her bum into the air. Rachel never agreed to this position, she thought it was degrading to women and she loved to look into Finns eyes as they made love to one another but right now pleasure was soaring through her that she couldn't explain. Finn taking charge in the bedroom was insanely hot and exactly what she needed right now. She moaned into the pillow as Finn moved hard and fast into her. "I know...god I love you" he rolled over slightly pressing his lips to Rachel's
"I love you too" Rachel moved closer to Finn, molding her body into the side of his. Finn reached down pulling the covers over the both of them before turning the bedside lamp off and falling asleep with his world in his arms.
Rachel woke to the sound of singing and the smell of bacon, she looked to her side to see Finn still fast asleep. She climbed out of bed before pulling on a T-shirt and some pajama bottoms. She followed her nose through to the kitchen where she saw Santana singing to the radio and cooking breakfast. Rachel came to stand next to her, making her presence known to Santana.
"Hey Tana, what's all this?"
"I just felt like cooking some breakfast, god knows you and Finn will be hungry after last night" Rachel playfully smacked Santana in the arm before she popped some grapes into her mouth.
"Oh shut up, don't be jealous"
"Believe me I am anything but jealous, so where is the jolly green giant"
"Finn! Is still sleeping for your information, is Sophie still sleeping?"
"Yeah I think so"
"I'm going to go and check on her, one sec" Rachel turned around but was surprised so see Sophie already stood in the doorway to the kitchen. Rachel walked over to her lifting her up into her arms "hey Sophie boo, how you feeling?"
"Better...but hungry"
"Good to hear that! I was worried"
"Did daddy tell you I was reawlly good yesterwday"
"He did, he told me you wasn't sick all day!"
"Yep" Sophie smiled at Rachel. She definitely looked better today, some of the colour was back in her cheeks and she seemed more alert and awake, except she was still very thin. Sophie looked past Rachel and saw Santana cooking breakfast. "Aunt Tana!" Sophie squirmed to get out of Rachel's arms, once Rachel put her on the floor, she ran over to Santana and grabbed onto her leg before Santana lifted her up
"Hey cutie! You feeling better?"
"Yep, I'm happy youwr here"
"Me to, hey look I mad everyone breakfast"
"Even me?"
"Of course you! Why don't you help me set her table whilst Rachel goes to wake up daddy"
"Yeh ok" Rachel smiled walking off towards their bedroom to get Finn, she felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders now that Sophie was looking better. She never wanted to go through that again. It took around 10 minutes to get Finn out of bed, he protested and even tried to pull Rachel back in with him but eventually they were all sat at the table eating breakfast together. Well Sophie wouldn't sit on a chair so she was sat on Finns knee, eating little bits of food.
"Daddy you eat this" Sophie put some bacon towards Finns mouth and he ate it from her hand.
"Um yummy!"
"Daddy's silly" Sophie laughed looking at Rachel "you eat some"
"No sweetie I don't eat that" she smiled taking a sip of her orange juice before getting up from the table
"I'm going to go and get ready, I have to leave soon"
"No don't go"
"I have to sweetie I've got a show" Santana pointed a finger at Rachel whilst she spoke to Sophie
"Rachel's going to be a big actress soph, maybe not as good as me but you'll be able to go to daycare and say 'my Rachel is a big star'"
"I don't care if youwr in wots and wots of pways. I want you to be with me" Rachel looked at Finn who just gave her a knowing look, what was he supposed to say? Santana could feel the awkward tension in the room so she excused herself to the bathroom.
"Soph you know I love you, I just have to go to work, I can't be with you all the time"
"My frwends mommy's play with them a-all the time, they don't have to work" Rachel took a step closer to Finn
"But my jobs really cool, I love my job, maybe their mommy's don't like their jobs"
"Yeh maybe" there was a pause whilst Sophie thought for a moment "I will stay with daddy then" Sophie gave Rachel a small smile before turning back to the table. Finn looked at Rachel, he could see the tears in her eyes. He wanted to stand up and hold her but Sophie was on his lap
"Rach she di-" before he could finish his sentence Rachel held a hand up and walked away to their bedroom. Is this what Sophie thought, that Rachel wasn't a good mommy to her? That she loved her job more? What was she supposed to do? Give up her job? She'd worked hard to get where she was, to achieve what she's achieved. She didn't plan to have a child whilst all this was happening, Sophie wasn't hers, she couldn't throw her dreams away for a little girl who was Finns mistake...But that's just it, she wasn't a mistake, she was perfect in every way and she's Finns and Finn is hers... She just needed a moment to think...a moment to herself.
