Review Replies:
To all reviewers ( usually Guests) who want Ash paired with multiple people, I've hit a snag planning it out-I can't figure out how do it without sacrificing character development and/or storyline development. Unless I get help from you viewers, I won't be able to do it.
Guest: Funny you should mention a move MY Sylveon in the game knows….
Remvis: Thank you!
Scrull: Thank you (no worries about your grammar)
Drao2298: Just look at my first review for this chapter.
Neigma Uzumaki: Yes to both. Awesome username, by the way.
DZ2: Although Zelda won the poll, I remembered something in previous Zelda games: Triforce Fragments! The triforce(s) of Courage and Wisdom HAVE been split in half (or more). Zelda's words were actually inspired from lines of a fan-made song on youtube. It was entitled Wind Waker theme-a vocal version.
Zatch Bell-01: I would need help with development for that to happen.
Jewlbunny: Thank you!
Ultima-owner: Literally!
"Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?" –Gordon Lightfoot: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
(Remember, it WAS the 38th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking with all 29 men in Lake Superior on November 10th…so I'll be using ACTUAL QUOTES from the radio conversation that night.
Pokémon: The King of Power
Chapter 11: The First Boss Battle…
Ash and the others sat down in a room inside the Pokémon center, Din was unconscious for some unexplained reason. Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Butterfree, and Bulbasaur were being healed after an intense training session while travelling from Bill's cottage to their current location: Vermillion city. So, for now, Sylveon was his only Pokémon in battle-ready health. Sylveon had apparently gained enough trust to reveal her current moves to Ash: Moonblast, Shadow Ball, Quick Attack, Charm, and Draining Kiss- a Fairy Type version of Absorb. (Author's Note: I am using a 6 move limit due to the Vermilion Gym episode in the anime. Lt. Surge's Raichu used 6 moves in the arc: Thundershock, Thunderbolt, Mega Kick, Mega Punch, Tail Whip, and Slam.)
Ash was currently lost in thought for some reason and ended up bumping into a girl. The girl wore a pink kimono with yellow designs and had long, black hair and purple eyes. "Terribly sorry." Ash said, avoiding eye contact out of embarrassment. However, the girl's eyes were not upon Ash, but Sylveon.
"A Sylveon?! Out here in Kanto! This is amazing! A Fairy-Type in Kanto besides Mr. Mime!" She exclaimed, suddenly grabbing Sylveon and hugging her close. Sylveon struggled and, with a kick to the girl's abdomen, she jumped out of the girl's grasp and into Ash's arms.
"Sorry. I got overzealous there. Not every day you see a Fairy-Type in Kanto….." The girl said, trailing off upon Ash's outfit. Ash rolled his eyes and turned his back. "Wait!" The girl said, throwing a poke ball…..which released a Sylveon.
"My name is Valerie. I'm the Fairy-Type Gym Leader of the Kalos Region. I'm on vacation in the Kanto region right now." This caused Ash to let out a gasp of surprise and turn around. "You must be Ash. I was one of the ones helping Professor Oak study Fairy Types. He told me you might be here. I have a move I actually want to teach your Sylveon. It's a Fairy Type move called Dazzling Gleam. It's a wide-range, high powered move that affects every Pokémon besides your ally." Valerie said, as her Sylveon let off a blast of gleaming light from his body.
"Also, Fairy-Types are immune to Dragon-Type moves and weak to Poison and Steel-Type moves" Valerie said.
"Ready for a new move?" Ash asked Sylveon, patting her head, and she let out a purr, followed by a cry of determination.

In the Sacred Realm
Zelda, Din, Farore, and Nayru were sitting in a field watching Ash through a pool of water as he worked with his Sylveon. Dark clouds started forming at the edges of the Sacred Realm. "How many of the Hero's Techniques has Ash mastered?" Zelda asked. "Three. Ending Blow, Shield Attack, and Back Slice." Din replied, and Nayru and Farore saw Zelda sigh.
"Not to worry Hylia! He's going to learn the Helm Splitter right about…now!" Farore said, as a Golden Wolf bit into Ash's head right when Sylveon first successfully pulled off Dazzling Gleam.
"He's still got a way to go. There's still the Mortal Draw, Jump Strike, Great Spin, Hurricane Spin, Sword Beam, Peril Beam, Triforce Slash, and Skyward Strike left….and how many times do I have to tell you three, my name is now ZELDA! Z-E-L-D-A!" Zelda said, watching the dark clouds.
"You'll always be our little sister Hylia we tasked to guard the Triforce to us!" Din said, causing Zelda to look down in shame.
"I failed that task. Multiple times." Zelda said. "Demise's reincarnation Ganon was too powerful for my mortal body…and too cunning. Now I have to rely on you breaking Demise's curse and ending the cycle."
"We'll as always rely on you….Zelda" Nayru said, "The Medallions are falling into the hands of the evil Team Rocket. The Chosen One has recovered two of them…but Team Rocket still has the Spirit Medallion. The Shadow Medallion is in Lavender Town, the Fire Medallion is in Cinnabar Gym, and the Light Medallion is in the Temple of Time. Team Rocket is doing nothing but blowing the winds of evil across the world….winds Ganon recovers and grows stronger from."
/
A few hours later, Ash was wandering around after Sylveon finished mastering the move- as well as learning the Helm Splitter. To think the second skill he learned, the Shield Attack, was actually the FIRST step of the helm Splitter was surprising! He had recovered his Pokémon from the Center and Din had woken up from whatever had made her fall unconscious.
There was one destination left: Vermillion City Gym.
/
As the group entered the gym, a gruff looking man called out "Boss! New victims for the emergency room!" At this a man emerged. He had camouflage colored cargo pants and the same colored jacket-open revealing his chest and stomach-well toned from constant exercise. He wore dog tags. He had a sharp angled face with spiky blonde hair and sunglasses covering his eyes.
His attention went to Din. "Well, our challenger is cute, but don't expect me to go easy on you!" The man said. "I'm not the challenger. He is!" Din said, pulling Ash in front of her.
At the sight of his outfit, the man let out a loud laugh…..until he came to see the tip of the Master Sword inches from his neck.
"Hmm...Kid's got spunk, I'll give him that. And that outfit, is he trying to imitate the carving of that elf-eared hero?" That is when the man spotted Ash's Pikachu. "A PIKACHU?! He came with a baby Pokémon?! Kid. You should have evolved that pipsqueak right away!" Pikachu hopped down and roared out a challenge, trying to look intimidating.
The man gave a gruff laugh before throwing a poke ball, which released a Raichu. "Very well then. I, Lt. Surge, the Lightning American and Gym Leader of Vermillion City, accept your one-on-one challenge!
As the two electric mice stared at each other, Ash's mind raced. 'Okay. From what he said earlier, he likely evolved it right when he got it as a Pikachu. It is likely it knows Thunderbolt, as it is a common tutoring move. However, any speed attacks it would not have a chance to learn. A battle of attrition Pikachu would lose, but a hit-and-run warfare would definitely be to Pikachu's advantage!'
"Thundershock!" Lt. Surge called, as Raichu sent a bolt of electricity at Pikachu. "Dodge with Quick Attack" Ash called. Pikachu blurred from slight with a white streak following him. Lt. Surge gave a slight nod of recognition, and then called out "Mega Kick!" As Ash saw the glowing foot nearing Pikachu, he yelled "Jump! Then use Iron Tail!" Pikachu leaped above the attack and slammed his metallic tail onto the top of Raichu's head.
"Okay kid. Now the gloves are off! Thunderbolt! Send it all over the arena!" As Raichu built up electricity, Ash called out "Pikachu, come back to my side and use Iron Tail to jam your tail into the ground!" Pikachu blurred out of sight and reappeared in front of Ash, before using Iron Tail to jam his tail into the ground, right before everything went white from the multiple Thunderbolts coming from Raichu.
/
As the smoke cleared, Lt. Surge laughed. "It's over….what?!" There Pikachu stood on his tail, the last of Raichu's thunderbolt being grounded, resulting in very little damage done to Pikachu.
Letting out a growl, Lt. Surge called out "Thunderbolt!" His Raichu scrunched up its face, trying to gather up electricity, before letting out a confused sound when nothing happened.
"You're Raichu's out of electricity! That last Thunderbolt was actually multiple Thunderbolts at once-an impressive feat, but that combined with the constant battles back-to-back you've had it do has resulted in it draining its electricity to near zero." Ash called out, lowering his Hylian Shield.
"This is the end, Lt. Surge. Pikachu, Iron Tail-multiple times!" Pikachu followed Ash's orders and bombarded his evolved form with Iron Tail before a powerful strike to the back of its head knocked it out.
Lt. Surge said nothing; he just walked over with his head down, shadows covering his face. "Not bad. This is the first time in a long time a trainer beat me on his first try. Not even that Oak kid did….then again, he did send a Wartortle against me. He was smarter the second time, using a Graveler." Ash nodded and Lt. Surge placed two things in his gloved hand. The first thing was a Thunder Badge. The second thing surprised Ash. A dog tag inscribed with a bolt of lightning.
"I only give out the dog tag to trainers that beat me on the first try. Needless to say, it doesn't happen often!"
Thanking him, Ash put the Thunder Badge in his case and tucked the case into his pouch. Before walking out the door, his friends following them. As the long, green hat blew sideways in the wind as Ash walked out, Lt. Surge almost swore he was staring at a living copy of the Hero in the carving.

Ash stared at the ticket in his hand as he, Misty, and Brock were ushered up the ramp into the luxury ship, St. Anne. Din had vanished into thin air after telling them that she had some work to do in the Sacred Realm. Every instinct in his body was screaming "TRAP!" People giving out free tickets to one of the most expensive luxury liners in Kanto? The number of trainers bragging about that did not make sense.
There were just too many free tickets to have been handed out while still giving the company a profit running the St. Anne.
Ash wandered around, buying some items necessary for his journey. A Thunder stone, Fire stone, Water stone, Leaf stone, Dawn stone, Dusk stone, Metal coat, more poke balls, about six hyper potions, and-oddly enough-a sail. He had more than enough money left- his current winning streak saw to that. The sail was something his instincts were telling him to get.
A crowd of trainers were circling around two trainers battling. One had a Raticate, the other a Beedrill. A powerful quick attack knocked out the Beedrill. "Is anyone else brave enough to take on me and my Raticate?!" the first trainer-an older man said. "I will!" Ash said, skidding to a stop after sprinting to the other side. "Go! Charmander!" People started muttering to each other as they saw the red flame on the Charmander.
"Quick Attack!" The man yelled. Ash stood straighter as the Raticate charged at Charmander. Charmander had faced quicker opponents. "Flamethrower!"
Before the rat Pokémon could react, the searing red Flames of Din shot out of Charmander's mouth and struck it, knocking it back with a bad burn. Light engulfed Charmander and his shape changed, revealing a Charmeleon with the red Flames of Din burning brightly on his tail. "Charmeleon?" Ash called, hesitant. There had been stories among trainers of fire-type Pokémon (besides the notoriously loyal Growlithe) disobeying trainers who they had felt were "not worthy enough" to be their trainers. Charmeleon turned around and gave Ash a salute. Ash let out a sigh he didn't know he was holding in.
The other man recalled the Raticate and offered to trade Raticate for Charmeleon, which was refused. As Ash walked away, a mist filled his vision and he was standing on a grassy island above the clouds. A Link Ash recognized as the First Hero-wearing the same exact outfit Ash was wearing-stood in front of him, sword raised straight up. "Raise your blade to the gods, skywards. The Master Sword will draw in sacred power from above and allow you to launch the lost skill-the Skyward Strike. It can be launched as curved beams or a single, straight beam, depending on if you swing or stab your blade."
Ash raised the sword up and a blue light traveled down the blade until it reached the hilt, and the entire blade glowed with a blue light. The mist cleared and Ash saw Team Rocket members with vacuums on their backs, starting to suck up trainer's poke balls. Brock was battling with geodude-using seismic toss, and Misty's Staryu was using water gun. Ash pulled the poke balls off his belt and tucked them into his pouch, and then put Pikachu and Sylveon into the pouch. "SKYWARD STRIKE!" Ash roared, slashing his sword horizontally, and a blue, curved, horizontal beam travelled outwards from his sword. The Team Rocket grunts ducked, and the vacuums were slashed in two by the beam.
The beam, however, kept going and struck machinery behind them, causing an explosion. As multiple trainer's Flying-Type Pokémon sent the Team Rocket members flying with their combined whirlwind attacks, the captain shouted out "Abandon Ship!" as the ship rolled side to side, a wave splashing over the side. The fence railing was broken and knocked down. "Doesn't this ship have pumps? To filter out the water?" Ash asked. "We're not gaining anything." The Captain said, "The water's coming in as fast as we're pumping it out." The people scrambled into the lifeboats and Ash realized with horror that one had been launched before it was full. They had enough room for everyone BUT Brock, Misty, and himself.
Ash tore a wooden beam that had been knocked down and pulled a table to the deck. Then he stood the beam up and used the Master Sword to shape it to the crude shape of a mast. He grabbed some nails and a hammer he had found in a supply closet and nailed the "mast" to the table. He then threw the makeshift boat over the side, grabbed Misty and Brock, and jumped over the side into the water.
As soon as they landed in the water, he let go of his two friends and started swimming upwards. His muscles strained as the current battered him and his heavy equipment weighed him down. He looked toward his pouch, thanking Hyrule's goddesses that it was water-tight. Right when Ash felt his lungs burn and his vision started to dim, the Triforce of Power shone brightly through his glove and he felt strength flow through his body, and he broke the surface and swam to the "table-boat", where Misty and Brock sat panting and coughing out water.
Ash put the sail he had bought onto the mast and it caught the roaring wind, rain pelting the trio as people on the lifeboats waved as they traveled back to Vermilion City. A trio of screams caught their attention and the trio of Team Rocket known as Jessie, James, and Meowth fell out of the sky and landed on Ash's makeshift raft….
Breaking the mast.
As the Team Rocket Trio was unconscious, the others watched in horror as the St. Anne was battered by the waves, until a large one shoved the ship down in a nose dive it could not recover from.
/
Misty, Brock, Mewoth, Jessie, and James constantly argued, and Ash stared at the sky-pondering if Skyloft still floated above the clouds. He was glad his Pokémon were safe in his pouch, as James pulled out a poke ball and sent out a Magikarp-claiming he was going to have it pull Team Rocket to shore, only for the fish to flop helplessly.
Enraged, James broke Magikarp's poke ball and kicked it into the ocean. It then evolved into a very angry Gyrados. It bellowed out a call, and multiple Gyrados emerged and they all launched a Dragon Rage attack.
The whirlwind of wind, water, and draconic energy battered all of them and shattered the table they were on and they all went flying. A piece of the table struck Ash's head and he blacked out.
/
Ash woke up with his Pokémon standing guard over him-apparently Pikachu and Sylveon had opened his pouch when he landed. He stood and checked his Pokémon, equipment, and body. Besides a nasty bruise on his forehead, Ash was fine. Everything and everyone was accounted for. Only one question remained unanswered: Where were they?! Misty and Brock each emerged from the jungle nearby and a loud squawk got everyone's attention.
A Zapdos hovered over all of them, except there was one detail that made it…different.
It was HUGE!
Ash stood and he spied something, a collar, which was stylized with a red "R" on each side. However, on the collar on the front side of the Zapdos' body was a mirror. A mirror emitting dark energy, sending dark tribal patterns across Zapdos' body and through the air. A Charizard and Pikachu in the field nearby were touched by the dark energy and grew to giant sizes as well. Ash had only heard of this mirror in tales of the Heroes of old…the Dark Mirror.

Boss Battle #1: Team Rocket Slave: Dark Mirror Giant Zapdos
Zapdos let out a loud cry and sent a massive Thunderbolt at Ash, which he deflected with the Hylian Shield. The thunderbolt struck a house nearby, causing an alarm to start blaring across the island. A swarm of small robots that had a vaguely humanoid shape soon emerged from the woodworks, what looked like to be a whip of electricity coming from their right arms. Ash slammed the Hylian shield into the nearest one, and then shouted "Helm Splitter". Ash jumped up in the air and did a flip, the Master Sword slicing through the "head" of the robot. It sparked and then exploded as Ash landed, sending him flying back and taking out some robots around it.
Pikachu sent out a Thunderbolt, but the robots absorbed the electricity. Ash saw this as he gritted his teeth and stood back up. "Pikachu. They must be made to resist electricity to deal with Zapdos. Use your Iron Tail, but use quick attack to get out of the area quickly before they explode!" Pikachu nodded in his direction. Charmeleon seemed to be having a blast-sending a red Flamethrower attack into the swarm and watching the robots exploding.
Sylveon charged a white, moon-shaped orb and launched it into the swarm by her trainer-her Moonblast attack. Squirtle was using Water Gun and Bulbasaur was combining it with his Razor Leaf. Brock's Onix was using a Rock Throw attack and Misty's Starmie was launching a Water Gun.
Seeing that Misty, Brock, and his Pokémon were dealing with the robot situation, Ash focused his attention back onto Zapdos. It launched another Thunderbolt, which Ash dodged by quickly hopping to the side. Ash climbed up a large rock, nearly as large as Brock's Onix. He held the Master Sword up and charged a Skyward Strike and stabbed his blade at the collar.
Zapdos flew backwards, but the beam of light left a cut in the Dark Mirror, and the black mist stopped spreading. The other Pokémon on the island reverted back to their regular size and Pokémon like Charizard, Fearow, Pidgeot, Gyrados, Poliwhirl, and Seadra flew or swam away as quickly as they could. However, the Zapdos remained giant-sized and the tribal patterns were still on it.
The Zapdos charged and spun, surrounding itself in a whirl of wind-a Drill Peck. Ash held up the Hylian Shield and Zapdos slammed into it with the force of a freight train. Thanks to the Triforce of Power, Ash could withstand the force, but he slid backwards to the edge of the rock. Ash nearly lost his balance, but grabbed onto Zapdos' collar. The Legendary Bird Pokémon screeched in irritation and took off into the air. Ash nearly lost his grip, but held on and stabbed the Master Sword at the edge of the Dark Mirror and pried it off the collar.
That's when he heard the collar tear, and looking up-he saw the collar tear off Zapdos. He fell quickly, but was grabbed from the air by Brock's Onix. Team Rocket robots lay scattered in pieces all around them. With the collar removed, Zapdos shrunk to its regular size-though that was still very impressive in itself. The black tribal markings were still on it, and it let loose many bolts of electricity everywhere-a discharge attack. Ash and Misty recalled their water Pokémon before they were struck by the powerful attack, but the other Pokémon were not lucky. Charmeleon, Pikachu, and Sylveon barely withstood the attack. Onix, thanks to being part Ground-Type, was unaffected.
Ash and the others were also struck. Ash however, was the one who remained standing, although he did fall onto his right knee. As he had been working Pikachu to absorb electric attacks, he had been taking shocks from Pikachu to try and built a quicker recovery and resilience to electric attacks. He raised the Master Sword and stabbed into the Dark Mirror, and it shattered into a million pieces.
Suddenly, Zapdos lost its tribal markings and fell-sending up a cloud of dust upon impact. Ash spun the Master Sword and sheathed it before recalling Charmeleon. Pikachu and Sylveon hopped up (with great effort) onto his shoulders as Ash put the Hylian Shield over the scabbard of the Master Sword on his back.
Zapdos emerged from the cloud of dust unharmed, staring into the eyes of the group in front of it. It sent out a cry as it flapped into the air, and flew out of sight, only to reappear with a treasure chest clenched in its talons and something in its beak. It spat out the object in its beak at Ash who caught it, revealing it to be an orange medallion with two comma-like marks in the shape of the Yin-Yang symbol: The Spirit Medallion. Zapdos landed and dropped the chest in front of Ash, who nodded at Zapdos before it flew off into the horizon. Opening the chest, Ash held up a grey rod with a red bottom that had a small "neck" and a red orb on the top of the "neck" (Image on my profile URL list). "It's a Fire Rod!" Ash said, swinging the rod and sending a fireball out in the direction he swung it, before putting it away in his pouch.
A Kadabra emerged from the forest and held the group in a psychic grip-though for some reason it was gentle. Without warning, a white light blinded everyone-a teleport technique.
Right after the Kadabra teleported off of the island with the group, a Team Rocket grunt ran onto the area the battle took place in. "The Medallion is gone, I just hope that…..Where did the Pokémon go?!" He yelled out in shock, before growling. "The Boss isn't going to like this…."
/
Giovanni sat in a leather chair in an office petting his Persian when the phone rang. "Hello?" He said, before listening to whoever was on the other end-his face contorting in anger. "The Medallion and Pokémon are gone from the Island?!" He roared, slamming the phone back onto its hook. "I spent millions researching that mirror and medallion, as well as obtaining those Pokémon…."
/
The three ended up teleporting onto a beach alongside a city. As they turned to thank the Kadabra, it teleported away.
The Kadabra re-appeared in a forest away from civilization, before it glowed and its shape changed-revealing a Mew.
However, Ash and his friends ended up coming face-to-face with three people they did not expect to face right at that time. "Mom! Din! Professor Oak!"

Okay, as I had ORIGINALLY planned to release this chapter on November 10-the Anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but I had to study for exams. So, I will be placing the lyrics to the song that forever immortalized that fateful voyage. There was a change to the lyrics sometime in 2010, so DON'T say it's wrong (I saw the singer-Gordon Lightfoot-perform it LIVE in 2011 or 2012 with the changed lyric)
The Legend lives on from the Chippewa on down, from the big lake they call Gitche Gumme
The lake it is said never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy.
With a load of iron ore, 26,000 tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty.
The big ship and true was a boned to be chewed when the Gales of November came early!
The ship was the Pride of the American side, coming back from some mill in Wisconsin.
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good Captain well seasoned.
Concluding some term, with a couple of steel firms
When they left, fully-loaded for Cleveland.
And later that night, when the ship's bell rang.
Could it be the North Wind they'd been feelin'?
The wind and the wire made a tattletale sound as a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too, 'twas the Witch of November come stealing
The dawn came late, and the breakfast had to wait, as the Gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain, in the face of a hurricane west-wind!
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck,
Saying "fellas, it's too rough to feed ya"
At 7 pm it grew dark it was then he said
"fellas, it's been good to know ya"
The Captain wired in, he had water coming in and the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when its lights went out of sight,
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put 15 more miles behind her
They might've split up, they might've capsized, they may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains are the faces and the names, of the wives, the sons, and the daughters.
Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings, in the rooms of their ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams, the islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
As the iron boats go, as the mariners all know
With the Gales of November remembered!
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed, in the Maritime's sailor cathedral
The church bell chimed, 'till it rang 29 times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald!
The Legend lives on from the Chippewa on down, from the big lake they call Gitche Gumme
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead when the Gales of November come early!
