Chapter Eleven: Showdown in the Digi West
"RASENGAN!" a voice roared angrily. Naruto held his hand out and a blue sphere appeared in his hand, then he slammed it into a huge boulder that cracked but didn't shatter. "Come on damn it! RASENGAN!" he slammed another Rasengan into the boulder making the crack bigger. "One more, RASENGAN!" He slammed a third blue sphere of chakra into the boulder and this time it shattered into pieces. Naruto fell to his knees and panted in exhaustion.
"I've been looking for you gaki." Naruto turned to see a white-haired man land in front of him, the man had two red lines on his face, a green battle kimono, sandals and a large scroll on his back.
"Oh hey Pervey Sage," Naruto greeted half-heartedly, and the old man frowned sadly at him.
"I take it you're still beating yourself up over what happened, am I right? It's been several years Naruto."
"That night keeps playing out in my head, could I have done anything different? Could I have stopped that ninja from kidnapping my daughter? From using that jutsu on Daisuke?" Naruto asked the old man who placed his hand on his shoulder.
"One thing I know gaki, is that you did everything you could have done given the speed at which everything happened that night."
"Yeah, but Tayuya….the look on her face when I told her our daughter our firstborn and only child was gone…it made me want to march into Iwa and slaughter every ninja and civilian in there and then burn the damn village to the ground," Naruto growled angrily.
"Understandable, but you know that the ninja who did it was a rogue. He's gone, along with all of his collaborators."
"But it won't bring back my daughter, nothing will."
"You may be wrong Naruto. I've been feeling my Yin half's chakra from across dimensions, but it's been sealed. I think it's time to tell him that his daughter might still be alive," Kyuubi thought to itself.
"Shithead, there you are." Naruto and Jiraiya turned to see Tayuya walking up to them.
"Tayuya, what's wrong?" Naruto asked his wife.
"Nothing, are you still beating yourself up shithead? I already told you, there was nothing else you could have done to save her. But… for some weird reason I somehow feel like she is still alive. Somewhere…"
"But how? That Iwa ninja said that jutsu would rip her apart!" Naruto pointed out.
"Don't believe everything you hear," Naruto heard the Kyuubi tell him before the surrounding of Naruto and Tayuya changed to a large grassy field where the Kyuubi was standing in front of them, a chain around its neck showing it was still sealed away.
"What're you talking about Kurama?" Naruto asked the fox.
"True, that Iwa ninja said the jutsu would more than likely throw your daughter through dimensions and rip her apart, but it might not have."
"What?" Tayuya asked.
"Stop talking cryptically you stupid fox. Talk straight!" Naruto shouted.
"Insolent brat, age has done nothing to improve your attitude. As I said, your daughter may very well have somehow survived. For some time I have felt my yin's half chakra being used," Kyuubi explained.
"But how? Didn't my father seal it inside himself when he sealed you inside of me?" Naruto asked.
"That is what I thought, but somehow my other half has been sealed in another human, in another dimension. Judging by the small hints and feelings I'm receiving from my other half, I believe there is a decent chance it is your daughter."
"Are you sure?" Tayuya asked the fox tears threatening to fall from her eyes.
"No, but frankly you should pursue this. It would certainly save me the trouble of watching you two brood. Creating another portal is too risky; even if we do get the correct dimension the first time, there's no telling what's on the other side."
"Well thank you for telling us that Daisuke is probably still alive, I guess," Naruto said. "But why didn't you tell us this years ago?"
"I knew there was something off with my yin half for years now, but it wasn't until recently I could pin down what was wrong. Now leave."
The mindscape vanished and Tayuya and Naruto were back in the real world and they noticed Jiraiya had left. "Well we better be getting back," the young man said and Tayuya nodded. Both of them walked off back towards the village, but as they did they both saw a small ripple in the air.
"What the hell?" Tayuya asked.
"This is the place where that Iwa ninja used that jutsu on Daisuke," Naruto said as he looked at the ripple.
"Don't touch it!" But Naruto lifted his hand only for a spark to zap his hand making him jump back in shock. "I warned you shithead," Tayuya scolded her husband only for him to glare at her.
"What do you think this is?" Naruto asked her pointing at the ripple.
"I don't know, but we should go and get the pervert," Tayuya said and Naruto nodded and both of them ran off.
Meanwhile across the dimensional plane Daisuke and Firamon landed in front of their house and Daisuke dismounted. Firamon glowed before he turned back into Coronamon and Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon ran out of the house.
"Daisuke you're alright!" Gotsumon said in relief before he noticed Coronamon. "So, you two made up?"
"Yeah we have, and I digivolved into Firamon," Coronamon said puffing his chest out in pride.
"Wow cool, congratulations man," Pumpkinmon said happily.
"Thanks," Coronamon replied bashfully, he then turned to Daisuke and she looked at him as well. "So Daisuke, are we good?"
"I already told you Coronamon, we're good. Now come on, I'm exhausted so let's go get some sleep," Daisuke said and her three friends nodded their heads. They all walked inside the house and went to bed.
As they fell asleep, Ken was in his base fuming angrily.
"I can't believe Daisuke managed to not only destroy one of my new dark spirals but she managed to make her partner evolve into champion. I have had enough of this thorn in my side, this fly in my ointment! I have to remove her from the picture completely!" Ken shouted as he pulled at his hair. "But how!?"
"Master are you alright?" Wormmon asked him.
"It's none of your concern! Now leave me alone before I regret keeping you around!" Ken shouted and Wormmon scurried away quickly leaving Ken to his thoughts and his ever receding compassion and sanity.
"Slow down you two, I'm not as spry as I once was!" Jiraiya called to Naruto and Tayuya who were running towards the ripple while Jiraiya lagged behind. "I've got to start working out again," he said to himself as he finally caught up to Naruto and Tayuya and saw the small ripple.
"This is where that Iwa ninja used that jutsu on my daughter twelve years ago," Naruto told him. "We found this ripple, but we don't know anything more." Jiraiya walked towards the ripple slowly and took a kunai and poked it. The ripple fluttered for a moment revealing a dark void on the other side for the briefest of moments before closing.
"What was that?" Tayuya breathed.
"I'm guessing it's the dimensional gap," Jiraiya theorized.
"What's that?" Naruto asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"The dimensional gap is only an assumption, a theory among high level sealing experts. It's believed that every dimension is separated by this void and that to get across you have to pass through. It's actually what your fathers Flying Thunder God jutsu was based off of Naruto." Naruto's eyes widened, but before he could speak Tayuya interrupted.
"Get to the point old man, how does this help us find out daughter?"
"Strictly speaking it doesn't. If your daughter was stuck in this place, I'm afraid she's long dead." Jiraiya hastily continued when he saw tears appear in the younger couple's eyes. "But there's a chance that she just moved through the dimensional gap into a different dimension. If we can open a stable portal to the dimensional gap right here, I should be able to track your daughter's progress through it."
Naruto and Tayuya gritted their teeth but nodded reluctantly. "Do your best sensei," Naruto said quietly.
"Of course, I know how much this means to you." Jiraiya began walking back to his residence in the leaf village quickly, muttering what sounded like complex formulas under his breath, leaving his student and the student's wife staring behind him.
"Daisuke…" Tayuya whispered.
Back in the Digital World, Daisuke sneezed. "Bless you," Coronamon commented.
"Thanks, so what should we do today?" Daisuke asked her partner.
"I don't know, we saved Agumon from Ken," Coronamon said. "What else is there to do?" Just then a beep was heard and Daisuke sweatdropped.
"You and your big mouth buddy," she said taking her digivice out to see three dots flashing. "Looks like the DigiDestined are back, and they're far from here. What do you say partner, ready to fly again?" she asked him and Coronamon nodded his head before glowing.
"CORONAMON DIGIVOLVE TOO FIRAMON!" he shouted as he digivolved into Firamon and Daisuke climbed onto her partner before he ran off and took flight. Soon the two of them arrived at what looked like a town from the Old Wild West.
"What is this place?" Daisuke asked as Firamon soared through the sky.
"I've never been here before, but I've heard about this place. It's supposed to represent what humans call the Wild West," Firamon explained.
"Let's land boy, see what we find; the signal is coming from this town anyways," Daisuke said and Firamon nodded as he flew down and he landed. Daisuke jumped off her partner where she then saw a poster on a pole and she pulled it off as Firamon turned back into Coronamon.
"What is that Daisuke?" Coronamon asked.
"A wanted poster….for Biyomon!" Daisuke exclaimed.
"That's right, now you two reach for the sky!" Daisuke and Coronamon turned to see a Digimon that looked like a star with a dark ring around the top point.
"It's Starmon! And he has a dark ring on his head!" Coronamon exclaimed.
"That's right, and the Digimon Emperor has put a nice bounty on your heads, imagine how he will reward me when I turn you two into him!" Starmon shouted holding up a wanter poster of Daisuke and Coronamon.
"I knew that Ken was a coward, but come on! Does he really think on lousy cowboy wanabee is going to beat us?" Daisuke asked in exasperation.
"Wanabe am I? I'll show you. METEOR SHOWER!" Starmon shouted lifting his arms into the air and meteors started to fall from the sky.
"Run!" Coronamon shouted and the two of them ran off as meteors started to crash around them, "Don't stop for anything!"
"No shit!" Daisuke shouted back as a meteor crashed behind them and the force of the impact threw both of them to the ground and knocked them out. When Daisuke opened her eyes she found herself tied up. "Ugh…my head," She groaned. "You know, on second thought, maybe taunting a Champion wasn't a smart idea."
"Daisuke?" the redhead looked up to see Cody, Yolei, Sora, Biyomon, Armadillomon, Hawkmon, and Coronamon all tied up as well.
"What happened to you guys?"
"We came to rescue Biyomon but Starmon attacked us and locked us in here," Sora explained and Daisuke sat up.
"Really? And where are blondie and princess?" She asked.
"Kari and TK, they're not answering our emails," Yolei said and Daisuke scoffed.
"Typical, they're probably relaxing or something. Some DigiDestined they are," she said before she focused and channelled her chakra and the ropes binding her snapped.
"How'd you do that?" Cody asked her before he remembered. "Oh right,"
"Good, now let's get you out of here," Daisuke said before everyone heard something outside. "What's that?"
"Sounds like a horse," Hawkmon said as the door opened and a Digimon that looked like a cowboy with a gun barrel on his chest and two revolvers in holsters.
"Well, well, well, what have we here?" the Digimon asked.
"Who is this guy?" Yolei asked.
"That's Deputymon," Armadillomon said.
"Oh great another cowboy," Daisuke grumbled. "How do we know he isn't under Ken's control like Starmon?" She asked the others who all shrugged.
"I see y'all need proof that I am not under anyone's control," Deputymon said as he started to remove his clothing making all the DigiDestined, Daisuke and Digimon cover their eyes. "See no dark ring on me," he said.
"Okay, we believe you. Now can you get us out of here?" Sora asked him.
"Sure can, but I'm only taking the girls," Deputymon said as he unlocked the cell door.
"Why only girls?" Cody asked.
"Because boys cheat at cards," He answered him.
"Wait, you want us to play cards with you?" Yolei asked him.
"That's right little lady," Deputymon answered her. "Now are you coming or are you going to wait until Starmon shows up?" He asked and Sora, Biyomon and Yolei looked at Daisuke who sighed.
"Okay fine," She reluctantly said and the girls all left the cell before the door was shut. "We'll be back for you guys later, hang in there," She told them before she left with the others.
A few minutes later Daisuke, Sora, Yolei, and Biyomon were sitting at a table in a saloon as Deputymon shuffled a deck of cards and did card tricks much to the girl's boredom.
"He's been doing this for half an hour," Daisuke thought.
"Would you rather be locked up?" Kyuubi asked her.
"No, not really. But he better get on with it," Daisuke replied, Deputymon then handed cards to the three girls while Biyomon watched on.
"Got any threes?" Deputymon asked and the three human girl's sweatdropped.
"We're playing Go Fish?" Sora asked him.
"That's right, now you gonna play or not?" Deputymon asked.
"Go Fish," Sora told him but before the card game could progress any further the door was kicked open and Starmon stormed inside.
"Deputymon! You snake in the grass! How dare you defy me!" he shouted at Deputymon who stood up.
"I was just playing cards with these ladies," he answered as he drew one of his revolvers. "You got a problem with that?"
"You darn right I got a problem with that, how dare you betray the Digimon Emperor!" Starmon shouted as Daisuke and the others all snuck out of the saloon just as the two Digimon inside started to fight each other.
"We need to free the others," Daisuke said as she and the other girls ran back to the jail and on the way they saw Cody, Digmon, Hawkmon, and Coronamon running up to them. "How'd you guys break out?"
"Starmon left his food on the desk and we swiped it so we could digivolve," Digmon explained.
"Okay, quick Coronamon digivolve!" Daisuke shouted.
"Same with you Hawkmon!" Yolei told her partner.
"Right," Coronamon and Hawkmon said as they both glowed brightly.
"CORONAMON DIGIVOLVE TOO FIRAMON! HALSEMON ARMOUR DIGIVOLVE TOO HALSEMON THE WINGS OF LOVE!" both Digimon said as they digivolved.
"Come on guys!" Yolei exclaimed as she climbed onto Halsemon who took off followed by Daisuke and Firamon. Both Digimon flew through the air as they saw Starmon and Deputymon fighting one another.
"TEMPEST WING!" Halsemon shouted as he fired to blades of energy from his wings towards Starmon who jumped back from the attack.
"FIRA BOMB!" Firamon roared as he fired a flaming projectile from his forehead towards Starmon and the projectile hit the ground in front of Starmon and threw him backwards.
"Nice work Firamon finish him off," Daisuke told her partner who nodded as he dived towards Starmon.
"Starmon, you're fired! FLAME DIVE!" Firamon shouted as the front of his body was covered in flames and he rammed into Starmon and sent him flying into a tower made of wood before the wood collapsed and revealed it was a control spire and it collapsed as well.
"The tower was a control spire," Cody said.
"Nice work, Daisuke," Yolei said to Daisuke who nodded.
"Thanks, anyway I'm leaving before I get dragged into another card game," she said and Firamon flew off back towards their home.
