A/N: Sorry once again that this took so long. For those who saw my last Note which i have now taken down, I never did find the folder that had my original copies of this story so I am having to re-write the chapters that i wrote but didn't publish. Hard part is naturally I don't remember what I originally wrote. For those who have no idea what i am talking about, I have moved a lot in the last few years and somewhere in the boxes from the moves is a folder containing everything for this story including where I intended on going to this. So the point is, it may take quite a bit more time for me to get this finished so please bear with me. Without further ado, onto the chapter.
Disclaimer: Only character that belongs to me is Victoria.
Victoria walked back to her room thinking about Danny. She knew she needed to tell him the truth but she was so scared. It surprised her that Danny hadn't noticed the similarities to the girl he left behind. By the time Victoria arrived back at her room she was resolved to confess to Danny once they got to Pearl Harbor.
Entering the room, Victoria noticed a distraught Evelyn curled up in bed. Victoria approached the bed and gingerly sat herself down beside her dear friend.
"Evelyn, are you ok?" Victoria asked, reaching out to touch Evelyn's arm.
"I was too late. I missed seeing Rafe." Evelyn replied, choking back a sob.
"Oh Evelyn. I am so sorry."
"It's not your fault, Victoria. I might not have went at all if it wasn't for you."
Victoria gave Evelyn a sad smile before Evelyn spoke up again.
"How did things go with Danny?"
"They went alright. He was still a bit worried that he had done something wrong. Though I think I am going to tell him everything once we get to Pearl Harbor. I never liked keeping secrets from him. I can only hope he will understand."
"From what I have learned about Danny, I am sure he will forgive you. He doesn't seem like someone who will get angry and hold onto that anger for long."
"He never did growing up. I just do not know how much has changed with him in the past few years."
"Well there is really only one way to find out. I think I am going to take a nap and have dinner here in the room. Do you mind letting the girls know?"
"Of course I will let the girls know. Don't forget to make sure you are ready to leave in the morning."
"I just have a few more things to pack up. Thanks Victoria."
Victoria got changed for dinner and most likely another night of dancing. Betty and the other nurses always wanted to go dancing which was fine as long as they weren't out too late since they have to get up early in the morning to ship out.
Once Victoria was ready, she said a quick good night to Evelyn before slipping quietly out of the room. She headed down the hall to Betty's room. The nurses were meeting up there.
"Hi Victoria. Where is Evelyn?" Barbara asked.
"Hi Barbara. She decided to stay behind and have dinner in our room. Rafe left this morning for England. He was assigned to the Eagle Squadron and Evelyn didn't make it to the station in time to tell him good-bye."
"Wow. How is she holding up?" Sandra asked.
"Right now, she is pretty upset. She will be ok though. What kind of trouble have you all been getting into today?" Victoria asked while looking around the room of nurses. Her gaze landed on Betty who was starting to turn pink. Martha was the first to speak up.
"Nothing we haven't done before. Spent most of the day with the pilots like we have been."
Victoria smiled knowing there had to be more to the story for Betty to be blushing but she let it go. "Alright then ladies. What is the plan for tonight?"
"Dinner then dancing, of course." Barbara replied.
"Let's get going then." Victoria said. She had a strange feeling that tonight was going to be an interesting night.
A/N: And there it is. Not going to promise a quick update as that is just difficult with the craziness that always seems to follow me but I will try.
