Chapter Ten

POV: Geoff

8:40 AM

I was awoken by the soft sunlight coming thhrough the window of... somewhere. I looked around to see that Clark and frederick were sleeping in two straw beds next to me, and we were in a small wooden house. I could tell right away that something was off. I felt really cold and I could feel... something. Well, to be honest, ever since I started to host Vaporeon, I've always felt cold and wet. Did I ever mention that I hate, and I mean I really REALLY hate, water. I think there was some mistake when the rulers were choosing us, because I seem to be much more like Flareon, while Frederick seems to be more... cool and like someone that would just 'go with the flow'.

But anyway, there was a strange feeling near my behind. I could feel something that definately wasn't there before. I sat up and decided to get out of bed so that I could more easily see what was wrong with me.

I took three steps and tripped over something. I landed hard on my stomach.

"OOF!"

I turned around to see what I'd tripped on. Needless to say, I was not expecting to see a Vaporeon tail that was as long as my legs coming out of a hole in my jeans. I tried to pull on it to see if it was fake, and I felt a jolt of pain.

"Gaah!" I screamed in surprise. I really had a tail.

Clark woke up in respinse to my scream and came scrambling over to me.

"Whoa, are you okay, Geo-HahahahaHAHAHAHA!" he noticed the tail and started laughing so hard I thought he was going to puke.

"Shut up." I said to him as calmly as I could.

He stopped laughing, took another look at me, and immediately started laughing again.

"SHUT UP!"

"I'm sorry... snicker... Hehehe!" he still laughed at me.

My face turned red with anger, and I got back onto my feet and lunged at Clark.

"Oh s***!" he jumped out of the way, so I ended up landing on Frederick and then falling off the side of his bed. As I fell off, I involuntarily whipped Frederick in the face with my tail.

"Guh! What the-?!" He sat up and jumped out of his bed.

He looked at what was going on, and then his eyes bugged out in realization when he saw my tail. He slowly turned around. He had a big, fluffy, cream colored tail that went down to his knees.

"Umm, kay?" he said, "This is... weird..."

"Hey, sorry about whipping you in the face dude!" I said.

"It's cool man," Frederick said, "Hey, where are the others... and where are we?"

"I don't know..." I said, "Maybe going outside could help us find out where we are."

"Let's go then!" Clark said.

He ran in front of me. When he did, I noticed that he did't have a tail.

"Hey, Clark..." I said.

"What?" he quickly stopped running and slid a bit on the ground.

"Why don't you have a tail?"

"Jolteons don't have tails! I guess I'm the lucky one!" he said bragingly.

He resumed running, and I started running after him.

When we got outside, I saw that we had been in one of the buildings that we had seen when Clark and I were walking around the village before. It was at the side of a large cul-de-sac. The building that we had been in was right next to an identical building.

"Hey guys..." I said. The others turned to face me, "If we were in that house," I pointed to the one we had been asleep in, "I'm guessing that the girls would be in that one," I pointed to the other building.

"Hmmmm..." Clark said, "Let's go find out!" he started briskly walking up to the building, but Frederick grabbed his shoulder and stopped him.

"WAIT!" Frederick said, "If they are in there, I don't think they'd appreciate it if we barged in on them. They'd probably fr-"

All of a sudden, four deafening screams came from the building.

POV: Frederick

Disregarding my own advice, I sprinted into the building from which the screams had come. As Geoff had theorized, the girls were in there. The reason that they had screamed was pretty obvious: They had all grown tails overnight.

All of them were panicking, and I knew that I needed to calm them down before they created a scene.

"Um, excuse me," I said, trying to get their attention.

They kept freaking out.

"Excuse me!" I said again, but this time a bit louder.

Still no response.

"EXCUSE ME!" I screamed. all of them stopped and looked at me.

"There we go..." I said, "Look, I know that the tail thing is pretty stressing, but can you tone it down a bit?"

"Tone it down?!" Shandar wailed, "Look at me! I'm HIDEOUS!"

"I'm scared!" yelled Hope.

"This feels so weird!" Eve screamed.

"I'm... really only screaming because they are..." Renee said in a surprisingly calm tone.

"Okay... diffusion time," I said, "Shandar, you're not hideous, It's just a tail. Hope, there's nothing to be scared of. Eve, I know it feels weird, hey, I got one too," I grabbed my tail and pulled it up so they could all see it, "And, Renee... No comment."

The girls were staring at me, silent, and I was beginning to wonder if I'd said something wrong, when I heard applause coming from behind me. Clark, Geoff, Jack, and Eevee were all behind me, clapping.

"That... that was good," Geoff said.

"Since when are you such a good speaker?" Jack asked.

"Way to go Freddy!" Clark said.

I stared at them in shock for a moment.

"Umm, thanks guys, that can't have been that impressive..." I said,"Hold on... Clark, did you just call me 'Freddy'?"

"Yeah! Oh, don't look so surprised! It's called a nickname!" Clark said.

"I don't like it," I said.

"C'mon dude!," Clark said, "What's the matter... Freddy?"

"Stop..." I said, quite embarrased.

"Okay... Freddy," he said.

"STOP!" I yelled. Now I was getting mad.

"Okay, fine," I could tell that Clark was trying not to laugh,"...Freddy."

That was my breaking point. I knew that Clark was normally that annoying, but I cannot tolerate being made fun of. "SHUT UP!" I screamed. As I said that, a ball of fire flew out of my mouth and hit Clark in the face, knocking him to the ground.

My anger suddenly melted, "Clark!" I yelled in shock. I ran over to him.

"Owwwww..." he said. His face was singed, and he had a large burn on his nose.

"Clark! I'm so sorry! I just got annoyed because you called me Freddy and..."

"Dude, calm down," he said. He had a crazy grin on his face, "That. Was. AWESOME!"

"More that awesome, in fact," we all turned to see that Eevee said that, "You do know what this means, right?"

All of us shrugged.

"It means your powers are developing. That goes for all of you. Since you all started hosting the spirits of the rulers simultaneously, all of you should be able to use your powers. Well then, I think it's time for you to get prepared... You are ready to start fighting Umbreon's forces out of the region!"
