Phoenix was still talking to Dash in the Visitor's room. He was wondering what the alibi Dash had could be, and he brought it up.
"Alibi?... ugh…" then everything but Rainbow went black for Phoenix, as those all too familiar chains closed in on her, and from there he saw three Psyche-Locks. "I was… Um… I was talking to… M-my friend, Applejack! Yeah… uh… see… our friend, Pinkie Pie's birthday is next month… and we were talking about what to do for it!"
The road to the truth is always long and hard… Phoenix was starting to think that little fact was becoming a bit of an inconvenience. But he didn't have anything to use to unlock the secret, so he tried the old fashioned way.
"Dash, I want to help you however I can. That's one of the reasons that I'm here. But to help you the most, I need to know your alibi. I swear that when I hear that alibi, I won't tell anyone until the trial."
Dash looked a little scared. But she did find a way to avoid the question… again.
"Oh look! Visiting hours are over! I'll be seeing ya'"
Realizing that He wasn't going to get anything else out of Dash. He went to twilight and asked where he could find the body. She took him to the crime scene, a swamp that was crawling with frogs and other bog-inhabiting creatures. One of the guards who was in charge of the investigation called this place "Froggy-Bottom Bog." Sonic was already there with what looked like a robot version of himself.
"Welcome to the party, Mr. Wright," the robot said. "I am Metal Sonic, the Detective by proxy for this investigation."
Now Phoenix had seen more than he ever thought he would. There were three little fillies at the scene looking around the place like this was a regular thing for them. One of them, a yellow girl with red hair and a pink bow, was looking intently at a small patch of mud. Phoenix went over to see what she found.
"What're you looking at?" Phoenix asked. This made the filly flinch a bit. But she still told him.
"This area of mud was moved," she said. "Like it hastily covered a hole or something." Phoenix took a closer look. She was right; there was definitely a pile of mud here. He heard Edgeworth talking to someone not too far away.
"Yo! Edgeworth!" He called out. Edgeworth walked over to him and noticed what he was looking at.
Sonic Impact"What in God's Name IS This!?" Phoenix Yelled. Edgeworth had the pile dug up, and what they found was an Earthling Pony. It wash the state of B.B.R. (Burned Beyond Recognition), but it wasn't so brittle that it would collapse on contact. Sonic was Shocked that this Murder actually happened, the Second one in the Recorded History of Equestria that was discovered.
"Shining Armor?" Edgeworth called to the Captian. "Do you have DNA information anywhere?"
"We have a library, and the magic on the books there records the life of everypony in Equestria…" Shining said. "The only thing that has to do with DNA is you need a sample to find the book on the pony you're looking for." Edgeworth pondered this for a minute. Then he called Sonic over.
"I need you and Applebloom to go to this Library and see whose DNA this is," He said. "We don't need you in court yet, but if something interesting happens, raise an Objection."
"Right," Armor took Sonic and Applebloom to Canterlot, where they got permission from both Luna and Celestia to look at the Library. They got to a stand in front of a wall… where books were spread all across a room painted onto it. The DNA that Sonic scratched off the Burnt remains of the Corpse was in a microscope slide that Applebloom had in her Saddlebag. He pulled it out and put it on the railing of the bench.
The Book that came to the stand was one that would send Applebloom into Spiraling Depression if she found out whose it was.
Rainbow DashDash was in the defendant's seat in the throne room of Canterlot. Celestia and Luna were right next to her, and they were undoubtedly feeling awkward not being in the thrones. But they said nothing about this change and sat with Rainbow.
These two were the only ones who knew about Dash's alibi. She was making a dress with Rarity for the Grand Galloping Gala, which Celestia had invited her to… again. Because of the last one she went to, Dash didn't normally go to formal dances anymore, but this year, Sonic was invited too. She just had to make sure that her dress was cool… or, as Sonic would put it, way past cool.
Sonic was sitting on the Defense side bench, next to Nick. The Prosecutor, a guy in a red suit with a ruffled neckerchief named Edgeworth, was sitting with a paper on the desk, likely the opening statement. Then the Acting Bailiff said the introduction of the Judge.
"All Rise for the Honorable Judge, Peter Farnsworth." The man was wearing black robes over a dress suit and tie. He was balding on the top, and his beard was long and blond.
"You may be seated," his honor said. "Court is now in session for the trial of Rainbow Dash… I'm never getting used to that," when he realized that Edgeworth was waiting for his permission to give the statement. "Mr. Edgeworth, your opening Statement, Please?"
"Thank you, Your Honor," he said. "The Defendant, Rainbow Dash, Weather manager of Ponyville and flight Athlete is on trial for the murder of Thunderflash Blitz, twelve time defending Champion of the Thunderwing 600, a race held by the best professional fliers in Equestria for Pegasus to prove that they're the best in the sky.
"The Murder Weapon has yet to be determined, but we have enough information to guess that it was a bladed object, used to puncture the jugular of the Victim, who died of blood loss at five-fifteen. The only motive we could find was the defendant wanted to win the Thunderwing, by all means." Edgeworth paused for a moment to let that sink in. "The Prosecution calls its first witness, the one to discover the body." The pony that came to the witness stand Fluttershy. Dash felt bad for her, she got stage fright easily… along with all other kinds of fright.
"Witness, state your name and occupation." Edgeworth said. He must've known about Fluttershy's innate ability to live up to a third of her name, because it sounded like he was trying to be friendly.
"Fl-Fluttershy, Animal Ca-care-Taker."
"There is no need to be scared here, little lady," The Judge said. "I understand that Mr. Edgeworth has taken the liberty of transcribing your testimony… correct?"
"Your Honor, I was there when the Transcription took place," Nick said. "I can tell you that the paper Edgeworth wrote is very accurate."
"Very well then, Ms. Fluttershy, if you would read what Mr. Edgeworth has written for you."
"Y-yes s-sir."
Oh no, she's gonna hurl.
