I scratch the brace on my arm. I've been out of the medical wing for a few weeks but Rhet tells me that though most of my injuries have been healed, my arm is still fractured so they placed a brace on it. Right now we're watching the first years duel to help point out any mistakes on their part and give some advice on how to improve. One thing we've realised is that no one is using their semblance, -facepalm- like are you people serious? Battling and not using your semblance? I mean, COME ON!
Well, with the last battle over, we head to the canteen, there we start discussing what we think of this year's students. It's not long before we reach the topic of the year's bully, Cardin.
"Personally, I think he needs a good beating to knock some sense into him." Dist growls while he glares at Cardin, who is picking on a faunus girl.
"I doubt that'll happen but I do doubt his chances of making friends outside of his gang over there." Malcom gestures to Cardin's team while replying to Dist's comment.
"Well that would depend on what happens, Will is a pretty good example of someone changing their attitude to others." Russet, the leader of the team says after giving the matter some thought. "Remember our first encounter?"
I cringe when he says that.

"So those are the rules of duelling. Can the two leaders of the selected teams please proceed up the stage and prepare for battle." With those words from Glynda Goodwitch I activate my bow and quiver and step onto the the stage. The blonde student from earlier on takes out his crossbow and loads a crossbow bolt from his quiver and takes his place at the opposite end of the stage.
Seeing that we are ready, Glynda starts the duel.
I dash forward towards my opponent. Since he could probably get shot off faster with his crossbow than I could with my bow, I decide to have this be a melee battle. The blonde fires his crossbow bolt at me so I adjust my path such that the bolt will pass by my left. blonde has other ideas apparently, using his semblance of control over wind, he adjusts the path of the bolt back towards be so I promptly knock it to my side with my bow.
The bolt exploding catches me off guard and causes me to stumble for a few steps, costing me time which blonde uses to load another bolt, taking his time to aim his next shot. Screw this. Using a fair amount of my aura, I increase my speed and end up right in front of blonde. That trick sent my aura from green to yellow, but at this point all I want is to end this fight quickly. As I bring my bow down onto him, he raises his crossbow so that it is pointing downwards and blocks the attack before firing the bolt he has loaded, the resulting explosion buying him some breathing room. Then the handle of the crossbow straightens, and it is at this time I notice that where there is usually an empty space between the crossbow limbs, his crossbow however has metal plating there. The limb twists such that it is perpendicular to the rest of the crossbow and expands, revealing it to be a shield which blonde places on his left arm, with the rest of the crossbow lengthening into a sword. So much for a quick battle.
Switching my bow into its shield mode, I take out my quiver in its melee mode. I then activate the sound attack in an attempt to stun him. It works only for a short while as he uses his semblance to control the movement of air around his ears, dampening the sound. The battle ends up in a standstill, with neither of us wanting to lower our defences and make a move unless we're certain that we can do damage to our opponent.
Deciding to break the standstill, I put my shield in bow mode and attack blonde with it, following up the attack with a swing of my bat. Blonde catches the strike of my bow with his shield, resulting in a loud clang. The hit with the bat manages to knock him back and gives me the advantage. Before I can make use of that advantage, Blonde shoots an arrow from the hilt of his sword, buying himself some time to recover from the hit, evening the battlefield.
I switch my bow back into a shield. Now this is getting frustrating, the battle is going nowhere, probably due to our battle styles. My glance at the large display above the stage, showing my aura is just yellow, too risky to try another speed boost as it might actually make me fall into the red. Only other options are the Big game gun, which isn't loaded, and the chain which I'm less experienced with, though the sudden switch in weapon might catch him off guard…
Dropping my shield and bat, I pull out the chain from the pocket on my cloak which rests on my left shoulder. On one end of the chain is a rather large knife and on the other hand, perpendicular to the chain, is a heavy piece of metal that act as a handle and as a sort of hammer. I swing the hammer end of the chain at blonde's feet, and he only just manages to jump above it, taking the opportunity I launch the knife end at him which embeds itself in blonde's shield. Danm, rookie mistake, I'm supposed to not let the knife end get caught on anything. Blonde, seeing that I don't have a proper defence, charges at me. I doge his sword swing and jump backwards to dodge his attempt to knock me down with his shield. I back up a few steps and notices something that I could use. I retreat a few meters away from blonde, who charges at me in an attempt to finish the duel. I throw the hammer end at his head, and his shield which has dropped more than it should while charging, is in no position to block the attack. With a rather sickening crack, the metal weight hits blonde in the jaw, causing his head to snap to the right and his eyes to roll backwards, falling unconscious his body fall onto the floor.
Everyone's jaw drops at what I've just did, due to the fact that it is a fatal blow. I walk towards the limp body and pull out the knife of my chain off his shield before going to pick up my other weapons. Some medical personal run up to blonde and, to my surprise, my partner jumps onto the stage and starts covering blonde's jaw with a thin layer of glowing ice. Some muttering starts in the crowd, mostly negative stuff directed at me.
I couldn't care less.

A silence falls as all of us remembers what happens during our first encounter, only broken when Dist deicides to ask a question.
"Sooo…if someone threatens to bake you into a pie, does that mean turning you into a pie and trapping you in one?" More silence is the answer to his question, then a laugh by Hal and soon the table erupts into laughter. We're used to it by now.
It's nice that conflicts among us have been smothered out by now, if only the same can be said for another grade.
