Hello again back with another chapter. I think I will make my updates for every Saturday or at least try to but updates will happen! Thank you for the reviews and once again I don't own Dragonball Z
Nia slowly opened her eyes but promptly closed them when she blinded by the bright white room and the sun beating down on her face.
'Am I dead?' she thought.
She tried to open her eyes again and gave them a minute to adjust before she sat up. As she looked around the room she realized she was in a hospital with her brother and father sleeping in beds close by her. Her head was pounding as she gently touched her head noticing that her hair was still in the braid she put it in before the battle but there was also a huge bump on her forehead. Nia decided that it must have been a big bump because of the fact that she could feel it from underneath the bandage that wrapped around her head.
The door to the room suddenly burst open suddenly and Nia became distracted from her injury when her mother came in. It took Chi Chi a moment to realize her daughter was awake but when she did the woman flew to the child's side fanatically and pulled her in to a tight hug.
"Oh Nia thank Kami! I was so scared you wouldn't wake up, don't scare me like that again you hear me?" Chi Chi said as she cried.
"Mom what happened to dad and Gohan and how did we get here?" Nia asked her mother.
"Your father carried you both here almost a week ago after the battle. It took several security guards, doctors and nurses to get him away from you two long enough to tend to his injuries before he passed out. Gohan has been awake but you and your father didn't even budge…the doctors were worried you wouldn't at all" Chi Chi explained before she started sobbing again.
Nia hugged her mother not realizing how much she missed her until right now. The little girl smiled as Chi Chi repeatedly kissed her daughter's head and cheeks.
"I missed you mama," Nia said feeling comfort in the embrace.
"I missed you to baby. You have no idea how much I missed you guys," Chi Chi replied.
The ox princess never wanted to remember the shell of herself she had been while her husband was dead and her children were missing. If it wasn't for Bulma being there with her every day she didn't know what she would have done.
"I swear when I get my hands on that Namek…" Chi Chi hissed.
"Mama don't, Piccolo took good care of us and even died to save us. I didn't like him either but honest he's just rough around the edges," Nia said defending her teacher.
The ox princess was shocked, she knew her daughter was skittish and apprehensive around new people but she was a pretty good judge of character for a child her age.
"He even got us a birthday present," Nia exclaimed.
"That's nice dear. What did he get you?" Chi Chi asked trying to be pleasant.
"A dinosaur named Dino," Nia stated happily.
"A wha?" Chi Chi asked looking irritated.
"Don't worry mama he's an outdoor dinosaur," the four year old assured her mother.
'You're damn right he is' Chi Chi thought as she laughed nervously.
As the mother and daughter were catching up Goku woke up to the sound of his wife laughing and became curious.
Chi Chi?" the warrior asked getting the attention of both his wife and daughter.
"What's so funny? I wanna hear the joke," Goku said as he stared at both of his girls. One looked at him shocked and the other looked relieved.
"Oh Kami Goku you scared the crap out of me! Do you have any idea how scared I've been," Chi Chi said as she started crying again and flew to her husband before she wrapped her arms around her husband's neck.
"Woh hunny, calm down its ok," Goku said gently trying to comfort his wife.
"It certainly is not ok Goku you were dead and my children were missing. That is not ok!" the woman replied letting all the pain from the past year out.
"I know and I'm so sorry that happened. You were so strong through it though and I'm proud of you hunny," Goku said holding his wife tight to his chest as she cried.
Chi Chi could only cling onto him tighter and wept into her husband's shoulder. Goku kissed her temple before looking up at Nia and smiling at her relieved to see her ok. It was strange that he couldn't remember that he had broken three ribs or the fact that he couldn't feel the blood trickling down the side of his face from that day. He did remember however how relieved he was to hear his children breathing when he woke up after the battle. He could even remember taking off what was left of his shirt and wrapping it around his son since his clothes were destroyed when he transformed. He remembered the panic coursing through him when neither one of them would wake up. He also remembered screaming in the middle of the emergency room for help and fighting off the staff when they took his children away from him to tend to them. As he looked at the little girl now he just felt pure relief seeing her awake.
"Sleep good princess?" Goku joked to his daughter.
"You bet," Nia replied with a grin.
"How's Gohan?" Goku asked them both.
"I dunno…let's find out," Nia replied before her mother could respond and threw her tissue box at her brother to wake him up.
"Ow, what the-"Gohan said sitting up rubbing his head when he noticed the tissue box beside him and looked over to see his sister awake.
"Morning Sunshine" she said smirking as their parents sat on the bed behind her trying not to laugh.
"Nia, daddy? Hey, when did you wake up? We were worried about you guys," the boy asked happily.
"Just a few minutes ago actually and thought you might wanna join the party," Nia replied.
"It's good to see you awake son," Goku chimed in enjoying the bliss of seeing his family reunited once more.
Goku and Chi chi went back to talking while Nia turned her attention to her older brother. She could see he had a bandage around his head just like she did but other than that he didn't seem to have anything serious.
"Good to have you back sis," Gohan said suddenly making Nia smile.
"Good to be back," she replied.
The family reunion was interrupted by a doctor who had grey hair and mustache. He smiled when he saw all of his patients recovering nicely.
"Well, good to see everyone awake at the same time," he said in a cheery tone as he walked over to and Goku flashed a small flashlight in his eyes confirming he had a concussion.
"I'm Dr. Touya, I've been taking care of all three of you for the past week but I've been particularly worried about you," he said to Nia as he proceeded to shine the light in her eyes as well.
"With Gohan he woke up later and Goku passed out after he got to the hospital but you were out long before your father brought you to the hospital," he explained.
"Yes, it's too bad Gohan couldn't tell us what happened while you were camping. Last thing he remembered was going swimming," Chi Chi said confusing Goku and Nia.
"Oh hunny it's fine if you don't recall telling the doctor that you guys came here after you were attacked by an animal during your camping trip. Remember Gohan forgot his bathing suit so he went in naked," Chi Chi said to Goku winking.
"Oh ya right it's sorta fuzzy but it's coming back to me," Goku replied.
"It's not unusual for people to have a lapse in memory after an accident. Let it come slowly Mr. Son but your x-rays show no major swelling to the brain so you shouldn't suffer major amnesia," the doctor explained kindly to everyone's relief.
"Speaking of x-rays however…care to explain the tails?" the doctor asked in amusement when he saw the shocked faces.
"I didn't show anyone but I can't help wondering how a human has a genetically formed tail on their skeleton," the doctor inquired.
"It's a very very long story Dr. Touya that we only discovered recently,"Goku explained.
"Not here to judge Mr. Son, just need to know for my records…..if you're interested I'd be happy to be your family doctor. I just happen to have an open spot and I admit I am interested in studying you. That is if you don't mind?" Dr. Touya proposed.
"I don't know, I really don't like the idea of my children and I being 'studied'," Goku replied skeptically.
"Strictly confidential between us. There is no one on Earth that knows anything about your genetics and I feel this could only benefit us both. You by having a doctor that understands the biology of your children as they get older and for myself I am man who seeks knowledge of all things I find interesting. It would only be me you would deal with," the doctor explained.
"If that is the case and it is kept strictly confidential then yes please," Chi Chi replied immediately.
"Very well I'll get the paperwork and then you guys can tell me what actually happened," the man replied and chuckled at the guilty expressions.
"No harm done I understand but I need you to understand that from where I'm standing it is a huge red flag when a man comes in bloody with two bloody children, especially when one is naked," Dr. Touya said making Gohan blush and his parents concerned.
"They won't call children services on us will they?" Chi Chi begged immediately going to the worst case scenario.
"Oh goodness no I confirmed your story so relax I take care of my patients. Just remember in the future doctors are 85% medical professionals and 15% detectives," Dr. Touya said kindly with a wink before he left.
Soon after the doctor left Krillen came in looking excited to see all of his friends awake and recovering.
"Hey guys how you doing?" Krillen said as he hugged the kids and handed a bento to Chi Chi.
"Were fine Krillen Nia and dad just woke up," Gohan said happily.
"How about you Krillen you were pretty ruffed up when you left to find Yajirobe for senzu beans," Goku asked.
"Better then you Goku. I've been in here making sure Chi Chi doesn't worry herself into a hospital bed beside you," Krillen said with a smirk.
"Thanks buddy," Goku replied gratefully holding his wife's hand.
"Anytime. Oh but I came here for something else as well, we found out why the saiyans were here," Krillen said.
"I thought they came to blow it up," Nia replied confused.
"Well that but there was something else as well, they wanted the dragon balls," Krillen explained shocking everyone.
"How did you find this out?" Goku asked.
"Mr. Popo told us after Kami died with Piccolo, he also thinks because he couldn't find them here that he might go after the ones on Namek. Apparently they are on their way there now," Krillen said.
"Oh no you don't. I just got them back barely I will not have them going to a different planet," Chi chi complained knowing exactly where the monk was thinking by mentioning it.
"Honey we have to, if we don't we won't be alive to live happily ever after," Goku tried to explain to her sounding like a child.
"Bulma already has a ship waiting at Capsule Corp. We should leave right away," Krillen added.
"Wrong these two are staying overnight and Goku still has tests I need to do on him" said Dr. Touya who had just come in and heard the last part of what Krillen said.
"Tomorrow these two can be released since I see no problems but Goku still has a concussion that needs to be kept supervised," the doctor explained as he handed the paperwork to Chi Chi and left.
"Damn that's not good," Krillen said nervously.
"You're telling me I've never taken a test before. I don't even know what to study," Goku replied nervously making everyone face palm.
'Just let him think that until we have to poke him with a needle' Chi Chi thought.
…
The next day the doctor wrote the release for the children and Krillen was back bright and early to get the kids.
"Well c'mon you two we don't have much time," Krillen said impatiently.
The two just nodded in reply before they went to go say goodbye to their parents. Chi Chi didn't let go of the kids though when they went to go give her a hug.
"Wait just one sec I said they are not going," the woman said as she started to panic but Goku just put his hand on her arm.
"They'll be fine. They have to do this and I promise as soon as I can get out of here I'll go and catch up with them ok?" Goku said and Chi Chi reluctantly agreed.
"Goku no! It's dangerous and besides there is still homework to be done and then there's that dinosaur Piccolo dropped in front of our door. I'll be damned if I'm taking that thing for a walk and chores and-"
Chi Chi stopped when her children looked up at her and Nia put her hand over her mother's mouth to make her stop rambling.
"Mommy this is important and we gotta go do this or else they might hurt somebody else who can't fight back," Gohan explained.
"Ya mama we're big kids now and we're gonna show pineapple head that he can't go around being a bully," Nia added.
She knew it for the best but she didn't want to let her children go. Gohan and Nia gave their mother a kiss and a hug before the ox princess reluctantly let go of her children. After saying goodbye to their dad the children left with Krillen leaving Goku and Chi chi alone in the hospital room worried about their children.
…
Krillen, Gohan and Nia had barely just enough time to land in front of Capsule Corp before Bulma pulled the children into a tight hug.
"Thank goodness you two are alright I was worried out of my mind," Bulma said as she hugged.
"Hey Krillen nice to see you to," the monk said sarcastically.
"Oh button up," Bulma replied smacking his stomach playfully.
"We missed you to Bulma," Gohan replied.
"We should have fought harder for you guys," Bulma mumbled still feeling guilty from that day. She didn't think she could ever forgive herself if anything had happened to them.
"It's ok. As weird as it sounds I'm actually kind of glad it happened," Nia replied with a smile that Bulma found contagious.
"Alright well first things first. I got you two a late birthday present," the bluenette said before pulling out to fighting outfits that looked just like their father's.
"Wow those are great!" Gohan said excited.
"Thanks Bulma!" Nia exclaimed.
The children quickly ran into the house and put on the outfits before returning in their new clothes. Bulma couldn't get over how much Gohan looked like their dad in the outfit and Nia looked like she was born to wear the clothes.
"Ok guys you ready to go? The ships is in the back so we gotta move," Bulma said as she started walking towards the ship.
"Uh Bulma don't you think it will be a bit dangerous for you?" Krillen asked cautiously afraid of pissing her off.
Bulma stopped and gave him one of her dangerous 'watch it' looks and said," Thanks for the concern but you guys need me. I've got the dragon ball radar remember and medical training. Besides that jerk killed Yamcha and I wanna help make him pay."
Everyone said goodbye to Bulma's parents and got in the ship for their long trip to Namek. It was three months before they got to the planet and the entire way was spent basically sleeping, training, eating and Bulma trying to kill Krillen. Needless to say when they arrived on Namek everyone was happy to be off the ship.
"Wow what a trip I've never felt so relieved to be on solid ground," Bulma said kinda groggy.
"Me to and this place is so cool" Nia said amazed.
"Yea look at all those greens and purples," Krillen replied sarcastically.
"Well let's get to work, where to Bulma?" Gohan asked.
Hoorah! Another chapter done for now don't forget to review and tell me what you think :) By request by one of my lovely readers I will try to make the chapters a bit longer. I'm working off the original story I wrote when I was sixteen...we are not talking about how long ago that was lol
