Cambree smiled down at her phone. She couldn't help it. when she saw his name her stomach fluttered. "Hey you."
"Hey." He said and Cambree could just hear the smile on his lips. "Gordon wants to talk to you tonight while A.J., Ghost and I go to the construction site. Or you can tag along. May be a little crowded but I'm sure we can manage."
Cambree smirked. "Does Gordon know your asking me to tag along?"
"Yeah, he's right here." John said. "And we have an account set up for your brothers assets. It will look like lottery winnings. But we still believe it should be transferred into your bank account, then to his. Make it look like you won some money and decided to give it to your brother."
"Ok. Make it happen." Cambree said. "If I go with you tonight can we go out to eat first or after?"
Cambree heard Gordon groan in the background. "Hey I'm starving here and am dying for an actual meal. Not take out."
Gordon chuckled. "Uh huh."
John smirked over at his friend. "It's true, we've had nothing but take out for practically the whole time she's lived with me. Camy, we'll go out to eat after."
"Sound good." Cambree said with a smile. "Think I'll sit this one out though. Get the talk with Gordon over with. Who knows I may even cook."
"As long as you don't burn our house down." John said with a chuckle. "We'll come and pick you up after we are done here. Then Gordon can take you home."
"Sounds like a plan." Cambree said. "See you soon."
"Yeah." John said smiling. "I'll see you soon."
He hung up the phone and could feel Gordon glaring at him. "What happened to cooling things?"
John looked over at Gordon then looked back at the road. "We did."
Gordon shook his head. "John, even though you two were talking civil to each other, your voices gave everything away. What happened between you two last night?"
John looked straight a head. "I wont let her go Gordon. I cant."
"So it's love." Gordon said trying to hide his smirk. He never thought he or John would find a woman good enough to love and be ok with their life style. The fact that John had, made him happy. The fact that it was Cambree, mad him nervous. He also noticed John didn't deny it. "I'm happy for you John. Just make sure you two can still work this job together. I will put her aside if I have too."
"She and I wont be a problem." John assured him. "We'll keep our personal life at home."
Gordon chuckled. "Your personal life with Cambree has been our entertainment for the past year. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried that if things go south during a job that I'll loose both of you. cause if something happened to one, the other will loose it."
John never thought about the dangers that could happen. Now he was second guessing his choice of asking the guys to bring Cambree into the crew. He knew she was talented enough as a pickpocket and figured if they ever got into a sticky situation and needed sticky fingers, she'd be a great asset to the team. But now thinking of the dangers he didn't want her anywhere near the job.
XOXOXOXO
Cambree sat across from Gordon at the island in his kitchen and took a drink of the whiskey he had offered her.
"So John says your brother is working our bank job?" Gordon asked and Cambree nodded.
"Yeah. He had a file on it and even the security tapes." Cambree answered. "But I don't think they have much. The file was thin maybe a couple papers at best."
"What was on the security tapes?" Gordon asked.
"You guys getting on the elevators."
"So you don't think they have any leads yet?"
"No." Cambree said taking another drink from her glass. "If he did, he wouldn't have let me see the folder. If they even had a suspect he would have hidden it from me. Since I'm a criminal he seems to think I know all the other criminals in L.A."
Gordon smirked. He knew the girl didn't have to many friends. just the crew. "So I got John's side of things. I want to hear it from you. what is this between you two?"
Cambree shrugged. "I like him."
"Like or love?"
Cambree looked down at her hands. "I think you of all people know the answer to that."
Gordon nodded. "I do. So what are you going to do about it?"
Cambree looked up at Gordon confused. "The ball is in his court Gordon. You know I'd be perfectly happy just being around him. But I think he really does like me."
Gordon nodded. "He loves you. he may not be able to say it. but he pretty much admitted it. but what I want to know is, are you going to be able to do the job or am I going to have to put you to the side till you are needed."
"Papa G, I realize you are trying to look out for us," Cambree said with a smile. "But I've been able to do my job the past year with out a single hitch. I'll be fine."
"Good." Gordon said smiling back at her. "I'd really hate to loose you. you're good for all of us."
"Thank's G."
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
John looked over at Cambree and smiled. He was enjoying having the girl by his side. They had just walked into a restaurant that John had been wanting to go to for a while now, but never had the right company.
"Table for two?" The hostess asked when it was finally there turn to get a table. John nodded and placed a hand on Cambree's bare back as they followed the hostess to a nice little window seat. John pulled the chair out for Cambree and pushed it in for her as well before he took a seat. The hostess smirked and handed them the menus. "Your waitress will be here in a few minutes."
"Thank you." John replied not taking his eyes off Cambree. She was very beautiful. Dressed in a white v neck dress. She had very little make up on. but he really didn't think she needed it. but he liked the fact that she had made her self up for him. He had seen her fresh out of bed, hair standing on end. She was still beautiful then. At the moment her dark hair was straight for the first time he could remember. And her eyes. Those stunning dark brown eyes drew him in every time.
"Everything sounds so good." Cambree admitted as she looked up at John then blushed when she realized he was staring at her. "Have you ever been here before?"
John shook his head. "Never had any one to bring here before. I have heard good things about their seafood though."
Cambree smirked. He had some how knew her favorite food was seafood. How he knew she guessed it was from Jesse or A.J. giving him tips. "I love seafood."
John smiled. "I know. You always steal my shrimp when I order shrimp fried rice."
Cambree blushed. She had forgotten she always did that. If he ever turned to get something from the fridge or had left overs she always took the remaining shrimp. He never once complained. Just went on like he didn't notice. "I was actually thinking of the shrimp alfrado."
"That does sound good." John admitted. He hadn't even looked down at his menu when their waitress showed up.
"Sorry for your wait…." The waitress froze and looked down at Cambree opened mouthed. "Cambree?"
Cambree looked up at the girl and smirked. "Sarah. I didn't know you lived in L.A."
Sarah nodded. "Yeah I grew up here. Its so good to see you. and still not alone. It was John right?"
John nodded. "How's the little guy doing?"
"Hopefully being good for my husband." Sarah said with a chuckle. "He surprised us and came home with us from Spain. Braydon had been enjoying having his daddy back the last year."
"That's amazing!" Cambree said standing up and giving the girl a hug. "If you ever need a baby sitter you give me a call."
"Don't think I wont." Sarah teased. "So have you guys eaten here before? I don't think you've ever been here during my shift if you have."
"No, first in state date." Cambree said winking over at John.
Sarah gave John a look of approval. "Better put a ring on this one. I can already tell she's a keeper."
John smiled at Cambree but didn't reply. He didn't have too. "I do think we are going to both get the shrimp alfrado. But can I get some extra shrimp on mine."
"Of course." Sarah said with a huge smile. "Any thing for my favorite couple. and what would you like to drink."
"I'm good with just water." Cambree said knowing if she drank she'd regret what would happen later.
"Water's good for me too." John said handing the menu's back to Sarah.
"I'll get that in for you and bring your waters to you in just a second." Sarah said.
She walked away and John smiled. "Maybe the two of you can start talking again. it would be good for you to have other friends than Lili and the rest of the guys. Be a normal girl for once."
Cambree laughed and shook her head. "I'd love to keep in contact again. But I don't think I know how to be a normal girl."
Sarah brought them their waters then got called to a different table before she could say any thing to them.
"It's good to see her again." John said watching Sarah walk away. "I've actually been wondering what happened to her and Braydon."
"We'll you see their picture every day on our fridge." Cambree reminded him. A few minutes later Sarah brought out their food but once again was called away from the table. she seemed to be taking care of every ones tables. Other waitresses were just standing back and watching her run her self ragged.
"We need to leave her a good tip." Cambree said giving John a wink. John got into his wallet and took out a couple bills. Cambree nodded. He placed them under his plate as they finished eating. When Sarah came back to clear their plates she brought them the bill as well.
"Any desert?" Sarah asked sounding very tired.
"Not this time, I don't believe." John said as he hid the money under his hand. "Hey do you think we could talk to a manager or owner? I'd love to complement them."
Sarah smiled and took the plates to the back. A few seconds later a short bald man walked up to the table. "My name is Phillip. I am the owner. Sarah said you would like to talk to me. I hope everything was satisfactory."
John nodded. "It was splendid. I really wanted to talk to you to say Sarah is a wonderful waitress. And has not only taken very good care of us, but also every one else in this room that didn't have her as a waitress."
John moved his hand to show the man the money. "This is going straight to her. I don't want to hear that she had to split it with any one since they didn't do a thing. And I will know. Because we will be back. Your food was very good as well."
John stood up and took Cambree's hand in his. "The money for the meal is in the book. Give the rest to the cooks."
"Yes sir." Phillip said with a huge smile. "I'll be glad to see the two of you again."
Cambree smiled and wrapped her arm around John's middle as they walked out of the restaurant. "You do realize you just gave three hundred dollars out in tips right."
John nodded. "Just want to make sure Sarah is being looked after. She's a good hard working woman."
Cambree smiled and kissed him on his cheek. "Thank you. That means a lot to me."
"I know."
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
Cambree and John walked into the club together. They didn't even go home to change. They didn't care that people were staring at them for John's arm being wrapped around Cambree's waist. They just didn't care. They had just had their first real date and it was a good one. Cambree kissed John on the cheek then walked out of his embrace to find Lili. John didn't mind. He had a feeling the girl was going to brag about the night. John just walked up to the lounge and met with the rest of the guys.
"We'll don't you look beautiful." Lili said when she saw the younger girl. "How did the date go?"
Cambree smiled and blushed. "It went good. Saw Sarah that I had met in Spain. And John gave her an amazing tip cause he knew it meant a lot to me."
"Awe." Lili cooed as she made a drink for a girl next to Cambree. "Has he been a complete gentleman? Cause I can still go Sis Lili on his butt."
Cambree laughed and shook her head. "There's no need. He was a good boy. It was such a wonderful night and it wasn't even that spectacular if you know what I mean. No over the top romantics. Just felt right."
"And that ladies and gentlemen is how you know you've found a good one." Lili said with a smile. "If you don't need all the pizzazz just the company of each other."
Cambree blushed and looked down at her hands. "I'd better get up there. Just wanted to say hi to you first."
"I'll be up in a few." Lili said with a smile and waved good bye to her friend. Cambree walked up the steps and was stopped by Ghost just as she got to where the boys were at.
"You looking good Bree." Ghost said slowly looking her up and down. Cambree didn't say a word to him. Just walked around him and went to set on the arm of John's chair. John just glared Ghost down. He really wasn't liking the extra attention he seemed to be giving Cambree.
"You ok?" John asked not taking his glare from Ghost.
"Yeah." Cambree said kissing the top of his head. That got John's attention. He took his eyes off Ghost and looked up at Cambree with a smile on his face. "Sorry, I didn't even realize I did that."
"Don't be." John whispered to her. "Just lets me know this feels natural to you."
Cambree smiled back. Jesse rolled his eyes and walked away. He hated not having his best friend around any more. It seemed like the girl would go to Lili or A.J. with her problems before she took them to him. He was tired of not being her go to friends. and the deeper she got into the crew the more she ignored him. And now that she was with John, he'd have to steal her time just to talk with her. she hadn't even noticed he had left.
Gordon on the other hand had seen the young man's frustration. He didn't like it one bit. If one member had a problem then everything would go to shit. He needed Jesse's head in this. And if Cambree was an issue, he'd set her aside even if John protested. Gordon excused himself and went to find Jesse. He wasn't surprised to find him down at the bar flirting with the first girl he had seen.
"Can I talk to you a minute?" Gordon asked. Jesse told the girl he'd be back in a second and followed Gordon out side.
"What's up G.?"
"Is Cambree going to be an issue here?" Gordon asked. "I saw how you reacted to her and John."
Jesse rolled his eyes. "You know a year ago I was all for Cambree joining us. Thought it would bring us close again. I haven't actually talked to her in weeks. She and I used to talk every day."
Gordon nodded and looked back at the club to make sure no one was listening. "If this is going to be a problem I'll put her aside. We need your head in this."
Jesse shook his head. "No, that would only make things worse. I'm a big boy G. just miss my best friend is all."
"Then tell her that." Gordon said with a laugh. "She may just not have noticed. I don't think she can quite wrap her head around the fact that John has given in. hell I don't think any of us have yet."
"Yeah, I'm just waiting for the fight to come." Jesse said with a smirk. Gordon chuckled.
"I think we all are. Why don't you two have a day together tomorrow." Gordon said. "I'll call you when we need you. I need Cambree with some one any way. Ghost is making me nervous around her."
"He's messing with her." Jesse said causing Gordon to give him a confused look. "I thought you would have been the first to be told. When Ghost was doing recon on the jewelry store, he'd go in and chat Cambree up. Said he knew she was my friend. So she opened up to him. Talked to him more. She knew who you guys were the moment she heard Ghost's voice. So now he's taunting her. I guess he has something on her and hopes she'll spill it if he keeps it up."
"The hell he is." Gordon growled. "I don't care what he has on her. She wont be alone with him on my watch."
