That night after they helped her mother with her new chair and equipment they had dinner with her family. He loved seeing her laughing and joking with her brother. That night they headed to Florida. Hunter had rented a beach house for the weekend near his friend Kevin Nash's house. They arrived close to midnight. Emotionally and physically exhausted. Sam walked in and dropped her bags at the door. Hunter noticed her vacant look. She walked straight through the open concept luxury home to the sliding doors. Sam walked out to the deck watching the ocean waves that crashed on the dimly lit beach. She could hear the soft sounds of waves and saw a fishing boat off in the distance. Sam took a deep breath taking in the salty fresh ocean air. Wrapping her arms around herself and she threw her head back letting out a breath that felt like she hadn't done in days. Hunter walked out behind her placing his hands on her shoulders. Her hand instantly went over his as she smiled looking over her shoulder into his eyes.
"I never realized till now how blue your eyes are Samantha." He spoke seeing them sparkle from the small light peering from the house. Looking away she looked out in the distance toward the dark ocean.
"Last time I was in Florida on this beach was with my mom and aunt before she got bad. She loves the beach. Hunter, she's not getting better. I know that. They are talking about her needing Hospice soon. From my experience with my dad's cancer. That's not a good sign. It won't be long now. Will you let me be there with her…..in the end? Please."
"Of course. I'll be with you. I don't want you to have to go through that alone." Hunter kissed her on the top of the head.
"I'm used to being alone." She sighed sadly.
"You shouldn't be. No one should have to be. I forced myself into it. But, I had family, friends, WWE family for support. I just didn't see it until I met you. I tried to push them away and none of them let me. I'm here for you now. I'm not going any place." He wrapped his arms around her feeling her tremble. He wasn't sure if it was from cold night air, heartache, or being close him. He wanted to love her. She is the type of woman he always wanted. Someone kind. To be loved and give love.
"Let's get some rest. It's been a long day." She turned to squeeze his strong bicep.
"Ok. Be ready around nine in the morning. I have something I want you to do. Dress for the gym. We need to go to the Performance Center."
The next morning the rising sun woke her. It was early and she could hear rustling in the kitchen. She grabbed her robe and headed out to the main living area. A kitchen wrapped around one corner of the open common area. The living room and dining were all in that same room. Modern furnishings and white clean lines. Hunter was arched over the stove fixing breakfast. Not turning to her he could tell she was in the room.
"You hungry? Coffee?" She walked over to his side wiping what sleep was left in her eyes.
"Juice? Yummy, that looks really good. Smells good. I didn't know you could cook." She smiled pouring her cup of fresh OJ.
He handed her an omelet just the way she liked it as he finished his. "You're up early." He watched as she leaned down into the refrigerator putting back the juice. Almost getting caught for checking out her voluptuous behind. 'Yep, Hunter your still a man. And damn she is all woman. Must be the ocean air cause I am losing focus real quick.' He thought.
"So big man. If you can stop looking at my ass long enough. What's on the agenda today?" She smirked sitting on the bar that separates the kitchen from the living area.
"Wasn't..umm."
"Yes, you were. You do it all the time." She smirked.
"Damn it! Ok well, miss smart ass. We are doing something I have been putting off for weeks and don't make me regret it. I'm going to do some training with you today. Vince is on my ass about getting you ready. Apparently, he already has a RAW storyline wrote up. He thinks a lot about you." He turned to see her glowing face and wide eyes.
"I'm going on the show?", She gulped to clear the lump in her throat.
"Yes. I talked to Vince last night. I told him I'm ready to have you on with me. Understand no woman has gone on that stage with me in years but...her." He just shook his head.
"What? I'll be with you? How?" She was shocked.
"I don't know the details but, Vince wants you trained and ready for Summerslam. So it must be big. I'm healing and have a match with Brock." She could hear the annoyance in his voice and knew Brock was the reason for his arm being broke. He just sat in silence and ate. She followed suit. Wanting to be excited but, she knew when he was in this mental place to just back off.
