Rayne was taking a shower quietly and thinking about Orion and how she should have broken the Statute of Secrecy to get Orion busted. His magic would have registered and he could have been arrested. Now she was in a lot of trouble with the Wizarding World. She had to wait out her house arrest and prove herself.
She walked out into her room and changed rather quickly. She stopped at the top of the staircase and heard arguing. "She's not needing to know this. This is our business Snivellous," Sirius snapped. She frowned at that.
"Boys, let's discuss this later. I can smell her," Remus warned. Rayne groaned internally knowing that she wasn't getting answers at the moment. As she walked downstairs, she noticed Sirius looked even further upset and Remus was looking like his mother had just died. "It's nothing to be worried about at the moment. Harry is getting us everything he can on you and Orion. If we find a reason he'd go after you then we can put some doubt into the Wizengamot. "
"I'm here," Harry responded and saw Rayne. He had to smirk at that. "Don't worry this isn't a check-in. This is just a delivery. There's a lot on this wizard. But there's something that doesn't make sense. All the kids in Orion's are dead. Including the 2 you said were like you. I think that the damage to their magical core got to them. You are the sole survivor. Which means he isn't looking for just anyone. It's you he's after. He could have realized there was evil in you when it was his dark magic. If he can reign it in you'd be his puppet. Which means your mind isn't safe," Harry warned.
"So Severus should be teaching Rayne Occulemency," Remus realized. Harry nodded and Remus sighed. "He's down in the basement working on your potion Rayne. Go speak to him please," he informed.
As Rayne walked away Harry looked at Remus. "We will tell her. Just not yet. She doesn't need that on her mind right now," Sirius assured and Harry sighed. "I promise Harry we have an intention to tell her the truth."
"If you don't tell her by the holidays I will," he warned. Remus nodded and watched as Rayne came back upstairs after about 30 minutes. She looked miffed and Remus had to chuckle. "Did he say he'd teach you?"
"Yeah but not today. He's finishing my potion," she answered. Remus nodded and then smiled as Severus returned.
"So when can she return to Hogwarts?" Sirius wanted her back in her classes where he knew she was feeling alright.
"As soon as the trial is over," Snape responded. She nodded and then noticed that Severus and Remus were acting tense.
That night, Rayne was having issues sleeping since she knew Orion could be anywhere. Plus there was fear that Rayne would be sent to Azkaban. She decided to go downstairs and ask Severus for a Calming Draught. But she walked downstairs and could hear arguing.
"Sirius Black this isn't the time to discuss this," Remus warned. He knew with Rayne in the house it was a bad idea.
"Why shouldn't we? She's in bed," he answered. Snape's scoff was so clear that even a deaf mouse would hear it.
"She could wake up and come downstairs," Snape retorted. Rayne kept quiet so she could figure out what they weren't saying around her. "I don't see why you have to make such a big deal about this. We all care about Rayne."
"Yeah but Remus abandoned on me. Because of you," Sirius snapped. Remus was about to counter before he saw a gleam of another set of eyes. "What is it Moony? Can't face the guilt of the truth?"
"Nope. Not that," he answered opening the door that Rayne was hiding behind. "She knows now," he snapped.
"You're leaving Sirius?" Rayne couldn't believe her mentor had plans to leave his fiancee.
"It's not like that Rayne," Remus calmed before looking at Sirius. "Right now Sirius isn't thinking clearly. I had broken up with him shortly after we got into our little divide," Remus explained.
"Lupin and I developed feelings but he remained loyal to Sirius. At the moment, your mutt of a mentor won't confess. Tell Rayne about what Remus walked in on," Severus responded.
"I was drunk and may have had an affair with a woman," Sirius answered. Rayne covered her mouth and debated punching all 3 men in the room.
"I want to punch the 3 of you. Sirius, you're the most guilty. You actually did cheat on Remus. Remus, I want to punch you for my own reasons but also because you were engaged to Sirius. Severus, well who doesn't want to punch you at points? Be honest with that," she responded.
"Sadly she makes valid points," Remus answered and Sirius nodded knowing he wasn't in Rayne's good books.
