This is NOT a Goku/Vegeta fanfiction. Sorry, I hope I didn't disappoint anyone.

The boy with the blindfold

Chapter ten:

"AAHH!" Dende screamed out, his hands going to clench at his temples.

Piccolo whipped around and stared down at the fallen guardian, "what is it now?!"

The teenage Namekian's head had been in terrible pain, only getting worse as the hours passed by, though the pain hadn't been as bad as it seemed now. At first it had been the stinging of the balls leaving the Earth atmosphere, then it had been the pounding of the balls being gathered together on the foreign planet, and Piccolo had a very good guess to what was causing the guardian to feel such intense pain.

"B-Balls... ac-activated," He gasped out before giving another cry of pain. Piccolo watched helplessly as Dende quivered on the marble floor of The Lookout. The super Namek growled at his own uselessness, his only option to wait for the saiyans to make their return. He knew that it was going to take at least two days for the men to even reach the prison planet, but he couldn't help but blame the saiyans for the delay.

Piccolo stared down at the Earth; there were already three earthquakes, two volcano eruptions, and multiple tsunamis. The dragon balls had only been activated for a few minutes!

'Hurry up Goku,' Piccolo angrily thought to himself, 'the Earth is falling apart!'

"Goku, wake up. Goku. Goku. Goku!"

"Huh! Huh?" Goku shot up, groaning in discomfort from sitting up to quickly.

"Goku you're going to be landing in a few minutes wake up!"

"King Kai?" Goku grumbled as he stretched out on the floor. He blinked as he tried to remember where he was.

Realizing he was on the ship heading towards Tenemareen, he turned to look up at the ceiling, calling out, "thanks King Kai!"

"You're welcome. Now wake up Vegeta and hurry, things on Earth are already starting to get bad."

"Bad?" his face contorted as worry passed over his features, "what do you mean King Kai?"

The deity didn't answer, so Goku tried to calm himself. He had said it was only starting to get bad, so that implied that the Earth wasn't going to explode that second. His family and friends would be fine, they still had a bit of time to get what they came for, and worrying would not help them at all. Comforting himself with that thought, he turned to look at the bed. There rested Vegeta, his arm gripping the pillow underneath his head. Goku checked the clock and smiled. This time he had gotten Vegeta to sleep three hours straight without any distress. His method to get the prince to rest had worked like a charm, despite how pissed it had made the elder. Goku couldn't help but smile thinking about it. He had told Vegeta stories.

They were simply stories, mostly about his childhood, and tons about Grandpa Gohan. The prince hadn't known just how Goku was going to get him to sleep, so he was rather surprised when the man leapt into some tale about catching a fish that was bigger that Grandpa Gohan's whole body. He prince had sulked for a moment; upset because he was being treated like a child who was getting his nightly bedtime stories. It took nearly an hour for the earth-raised man to get his companion calm, but once he did, he had the prince asleep before he could even start talking about meeting Bulma. Goku knew Vegeta would be pissed if they woke up on the same mattress, so he opted to sleep on the floor, which he deemed better than no sleep at all. Goku had been awaken at least three times from Vegeta's tossing and screaming, but he easily got him back to a peaceful slumber with a whispered words of comfort, and even a calming rub on his shoulder. He was glad that the prince was never fully awake; for he knew he would probably get his hand blown off if he was caught ever touching the elder outside of sparring.

So it hadn't been his best rest, but he was sure he would be able to stay awake during his time on Tenemareen.

"Hey Geta," Goku said as he lightly nudged the prince's shoulder, "hey Geta get up."

The prince froze. Seeming to recognize the hand on his shoulder, he cracked his eye open. Roughly pushing the earth-raised away, he lifted himself to sit on the edge of the bed.

"Why did you wake me?"

"We are going to be landing soon."

"Oh," Vegeta replied, his stomach dropping to his toes, "very well then."

He stood, and pushed past the younger man, doing his best to forget the stories the man told him. It wasn't that the stories were bad, quite the opposite actually. He found himself not only listening to the younger, but actually intrigued with Goku's tales, even if they were simple ones from his childhood. He wasn't sure why he cared about Goku's distant past, or why the calmly spoken stories actually put him to sleep, but he decided that it really didn't matter at the moment.

He didn't say anything to Goku though as he passed him, walking out of the sleeping room and over to the coordinates. The machine said it would take about five more minutes to reach their destination. Vegeta couldn't help but gulp. This was it. It was time for him to face his son, given that he could find him.

He turned to look out the window, the planet that harbored his child clearly in view. The planet was an ugly deep red, brown clouds almost completely covering the celestial body. He had thought he saw an electric shock line pass over the planet, but he honestly didn't care enough to question it. He had only been to the planet once, but at this moment he decided he hated Tenemareen more than any other planet he ever could think of. The raw hatred and deep loathing he felt for the planet was so powerful and honest he couldn't even put it into words. He despised this planet even more than Earth, which was a planet he thought he hated for a LONG time. Everything about Tenemareen just screamed his failures.

His failures. The prince clenched his fists in anger. He wasn't even angry at the stupid planet anymore; he was just pissed with himself. Vegeta hadn't even thought about his son once since he broke free from Frieza. The boy was one of the things that Vegeta threw to the back of his mind, down deep were all his other dark secrets laid. It hurt far too much for him to think about his lost child, so he ignored it, just like all the other pain he experienced before Earth. It hadn't mattered if he remembered his son's smooth, baby soft skin, or his bright ruby eyes; he had an all new life on Earth, filled with love and family, which was something he hadn't had in a LONG time. Why should he spoil it by thinking of such dark and painful things?

Vegeta felt sick. Sick because he was awful. Well he wasn't going to lie and say he was a picture perfect person, hell, he was downright evil for the majority of his life. Yet before these past few days, he couldn't truly think himself as awful. Kid Buu was awful. Tenemareen was awful. Frieza was awful. Hell was awful. He was awful. How could he have possibly enjoyed his Earth life, when the cost was his baby being forced to suffer his whole life for his parents' mistakes?

He really was awful.

"Hey," Vegeta heard behind him. He turned and saw Goku approaching him, "you shouldn't beat yourself up like this."

Was he really that obvious?

Vegeta didn't reply, only turned away. Goku sighed, and the saiyans were quiet for moment. Vegeta was almost ready to go back to his internal sulking, when Goku's voice attracted his attention again.

"I know how you feel, trust me I do. You've really disappointed someone; you've done something's that honestly shouldn't be forgiven. You ignored the problem, but now it's much worse, and you don't know what to do anymore. You don't know how to fix it, because it seems so far gone that you don't even know if it can be fixed. You feel terrible because it's all your fault that someone had to suffer, when you thought you were doing what was best for you. Yeah I know how you feel. Maybe my mistakes weren't as devasting as yours, but I've been there... I'm still there."

Vegeta stayed silent, because he was surprised that this was coming out of his companion's mouth. He had watched the man's lips, and he was certain the words he was hearing were coming from Goku. He was also surprised... at how right he was.

Goku sighed, "I hate to say it, but there is not much we can do about it now Vegeta. It's too late. The past is the past, and it can't be changed. As much as I want to go back and fix every last mistake I made, and undo all the pain I've caused people, it's not possible. Believe me when I say I've tried, so there's no use in sulking about it.

"The only thing we can do is look to the future. If we spend all of our time trying to rewrite the past, we will be missing all of our opportunities to actually fix things. The only way we can make right by what we did is to do better. Sometimes that's hard, because well, old habits die hard. And again trust me, because I know, and so do you, but that's the only way anything is ever going to get better."

Vegeta couldn't even be shocked anymore, because Goku's words moved something within him. How did Goku put all the insecurities that he didn't even understand, out into the open as if they were obvious? How could Goku have touched base with him so easily; told him exactly what he needed to hear as if he was going through the same exact issue as him? Were they really that much alike? And how could Goku break out of his naïve, pure persona, and speak to him as if was actually an adult, with real problems and imperfections, instead of a goofy idiot how fought bad guys for the fun of it? Vegeta inwardly grinned.

Maybe Goku wasn't so innocent after all.

The prince was broken from his reverie when an open pale palm came into his vision. He raises an eyebrow at Goku, who shrugs.

"We should promise to do better, that's the only way we are ever going to be able to fix things right? I promise to keep you in check, if you promise to do the same for me. Deal?"

Normally Vegeta would've said something about a saiyan prince not needing anyone to keep him in 'check', but he was still a bit stunned by the third-classes previous speech, and he couldn't deny that Goku's offer wasn't terrible.

So with unnoticeable hesitation, he reaches out, and shakes his hand.

The two men didn't even have time to entangle their hands before Goku cries out and falls to the floor, Vegeta quickly following. The floor rumbled, the room flashing red as the machine called out, "Danger! System override! System override!"

"Vegeta what's happening?!" Goku called out. Electric shocks sprung across the ceiling, every monitor in the room flashing in the wild electricity. The spaceship jolted as it fell towards the planet.

"We're crash landing!" Vegeta shot back to him, forcing his body to crawl towards his seat.

Goku followed after him, "why!?"

Vegeta eventually reached his seat. Forcing himself into the chair, he strapped his belt across his body. He didn't answer the other saiyan, for he really didn't know. He didn't even attempt to use the controls, because it was obvious that they were completely broken.

Both males cried out as the spacecraft flew into the planets many layers of cloud. The electric shocks zapped at them, piercing and burning their skin.

"Vegeta," Goku screamed out from his seat, his face shielded by his hands, "what are we going to do!?"

The prince cracked his eye open to look at the younger saiyan, who returned the gaze. The saiyans kept their eye contact, until an electric shock zapped at the younger man's cheek. Vegeta growled as an electric shock zapped at the wrist that covered his eye. He didn't come all this way just to die before even getting a chance at saving his son!

"Kakarot, power up to super saiyan two now!" the elder called out as he took on the ascended golden form. The younger followed suit and both of the mens' electric energy clashed against the electric shocks from the planet as the ship crashed into the ground.

A few moments went by before the door to the ship had been broken off. Vegeta threw the damaged part away as he floated down from the ship. Goku followed soon after, landing on the ground next to his prince. Goku and Vegeta coughed and sputtered as they breathed in the tainted air. They quickly gathering themselves, both turned to look up at the remains of the spacecraft.

"Well the ship is still intact," Goku said, "but I'm pretty sure it won't be flying anymore."

"Then you'll just have to Instant Transmission us back to Earth," Vegeta said simply.

"What do you think caused us to crash?"

Vegeta shrugged, "I'm not sure, but we can dwell on this later. Do you have the dragon radar with you?"

The earth-fighter nodded as he pulled the circular device from his pocket. Since both of the Capsule Corporations radars had been destroyed by the Tenemareens, he had brought his own, which was the same one Bulma gave him all those years ago.

"So I'll find the dragon balls, while you find your son, then we'll meet back here?" Goku asked as he turned on the device. The prince nodded as the radar booted up.

"Well this is weird," Goku said as he studied the screen, "it says the balls are spread out all over the planet. I figured they would've kept them together so they could activate them."

"Unless they already tried activating them," Vegeta cut in. the electrical storm surrounding the planet began to make sense. The ball's energy was already beginning to destroy the prison planet. Ziloh that fool, he was going to get them all killed!

'Not that it matters,' Vegeta thought sourly, 'once I find the boy and Kakarot finds the dragon balls, we'll be ready to return to Earth. Afterwards this planet and its people can rot in the deepest depths of hell for all I care.'

"Well we better hurry," Goku said as he powered back up to his ascended form.

"I can't IT to the dragon balls, their energy is too chaotic to focus on," Goku said to the prince's questioning look. The prince nodded and turned away, powering up as well. He, like Goku, had something he needed to find, and fast. He probably shouldn't have been thinking this, but he wondered how the boy was going to cope on Earth. Everything was going to be so different from what he was used to, and the boy would have to place all his trust into Vegeta. He knew that wasn't going to be easy, for he still struggled with that task, but Vegeta had forced himself to believe in the boy's ability to place his trust in him.

'The boy. Shit,' Vegeta cursed to himself, 'how is he supposed to trust me, if I don't even know his god damn name?!'

All this time he had spent thinking about his long-lost child and it hadn't even crossed his mind that he didn't even know his fucking name? What the hell kind of parent was he? He didn't even know his kids fucking name!

"Hey Geta," Goku leaned in as he noticed Vegeta's distress, "are you okay?"

Vegeta shook himself from his musing, "I am fine Kakarot. Go and get the balls. Now."

The earth-saiyan nodded, before blasting off into the sky. The prince's eyes swept over the landscape. Where should he begin? Heaven knows how much time he had until the planet was completely destroyed, and he didn't even know where to begin his search. Deciding he wasn't making any progress just standing there, he flew off in the direction opposite of Goku. He cursed to himself repeatedly as he flew through the air. How was he supposed to find his son in this huge foggy planet, when he looked exactly like all the other prisoners and was barely child-sized?

Some important stuff down here! (sort of...)

I'm really not good at this whole updating thing :/. Sorry that this chapter was so short, I had actually split it because chapter 10 would've been SO long if I hadn't. Good thing is I've only got one more scene to write for chapter 11 and it will be out on Wednesday. That is a promise. Why Wednesday? Because I want to give you guys a chance to read this chapter before I update again. Though in the next chapter I PROMISE Vegeta and Chill will reunite, I know you guys have been waiting forever for that to happen. Thank all of you for the awesome reviews! I know I say this a lot, but your reviews really do inspire me to write, and I do actually consider your suggestions, so thanks for that too!
