I woke up and jumped out of bed. I stretched and groaned as I put on my camp shirt and jeans. I pushed open the bronze doors and frowned when I realized the weather was turning cold. I got a pull-over hoodie and walked outside. The late night conversations with Nate were tiring. He was cramming a lot of knowledge in my brain in quickly.
I yawned and walked into the Mess Hall. I saw Arianna and waved. She gave a wave back and turned back to Derrick. I sat down on my table and realized Cole was back. 'He hasn't been here for a while...' I thought as I walked over and sat next to him.
"Mornin Avens," Cole said sloppily, he was still half asleep.
"Mornin. Watcha do to make you sleepy?" I replied back with a grin that I copied from him.
"Hmm? Oh, I was out late last night, with a girl that I can't tell you the name of."
"Lemme guess."
"No, I cant tell you."
"Please?"
"Fine for a free question about you."
"Deal. Was it Emily?"
"Close, but no."
"Was it Karen? The Khione girl?"
"How dyou know?" Cole asked with a grin.
"Eh, runs in the blood. Isn't she related to you though?"
"No, cuz her mom isn't my mom, thank god. Well, anyway, my question."
"Sure go ahead."
"Have you had any contact by Romans?"
I paused. Cole's face longed for an answer as I thought. I pretended to be thinking in the past months if I had. He had a hatred for the Romans, and if I told him I was part Roman, I could be killed. Not just by him, but the whole camp. I decided to joke. "If I told you, I would have to kill you."
"Seriously? That bullcrap? Seriously, tell me." His eyes started to pierce into my soul, as if to try find an answer.
"No! How would I have contact anyway?"
"Just wondering, because of that sword of yours."
"What, Ful- Astrapi?" I almost said the latin version. I silently cursed at myself as I kept looking at him.
"Yeah, its a gladius, no doubt about it. That gives me this feeling about if you're actually Greek." Cole then switched to Latin. "Do you understand me? If you do, grin."
"What the heck were you saying?" I lied as I weakly smiled.
"Oh, nothing." He grinned back and continued to eat.
Natalie teleported into the Mess Hall and shouted, "GUYS THE ORACLE IS TELLING A PROPHECY! COME TO THE BIG HOUSE NOW!" Whatever that was, everyone stopped eating and rushed to the big house. There, sat a woman in her thirties, except, her mouth was glowing green. She gasped and a raspy voice spoke.
"The rise of the titans shall come,
When the jagers accept the duel,
The house in the north,
The mountain in the east,
The cave in the west,
The vale in the south,
The doom shall begin then." The oracle's eyes rolled back and a second later she came back to reality. Chiron's face grew dark and so did the other campers.
"What does that mean?" I asked out loud. Everyone looked at me and started wondering the same thing.
"It means that a quest must be made. Most possibly, multiple quests." Chiron replied. I felt the excitement of the campers and my own as well.
"Well, who's gonna lead the quests?" Derrick blurted out. He looked around expectantly as if he was going to lead.
"Yes well, I believe I'll get that in order." Chiron replied.
"He's gonna pick you," Cole whispered into my ear.
"And you know, because?" I asked.
"I know him well enough. He has that look, the I'm gonna choose a new kid, look."
"Oh. Cool." I left the room and heard everyone talking about the prophecy. This was big, really big.
