Avatar Aang: Harsh words won't solve problems; actions will
Once they reached the earth nation's biggest canyon the hope for a cease-fire remained out of reach and the constant bickering accompanied with the scorching heat of the canyon finally pushed both air benders off the edge.
"Okay, I've seriously had enough. Jinora, Kyoshi , and I will set up the tent over here whilst you two learn to get along and make one over there " Kai's reasoning came overdue as Jinora scoffed in annoyance at his choice to finally get involved. He couldn't help but glance at her, a look of confusion appearing on his face as he raised his hand up questioningly but was quickly distracted by Ming's voice of disapproval.
"I'm not making anything with him" she said a matter-of-factly crossing her arms and tapping her foot, as Kuzon shared similar displeasure playing with the fire in his hand as he rested himself on a rock close by.
"Would you stop that it's getting annoying" Ming responded trying to slap it out of Kuzon's hand.
"Nope, I'm pretty sure I can do whatever I want" He retorted smugly moving it around to doge her attempts at removing it from him.
The fire was quick and uncontrolled and as swiftly it existed Kuzon's grasp it did damage to Jinora's maps with even better ease. Silence engulfed the group with an innocent sneeze from Kyoshi breaking the silence.
"Will you stop?" Jinora all but screeched as she glared pointedly at the pair. "Why can't you both get along, it's like your find new reasons to have a go at each other" She clenched her fist, her tone rose and all her frustration was finally released in her rant.
"This was supposed to be my chance to get out there, explore the world , see the actual places that are described in my books and you're ruining it" She was close to tears now , her fists of anger releasing upon Kyoshi's confused face and Kai's worried plead for her to calm down.
"Until both of you find a way to get along" , Jinora paused breathing in ever so slightly as she tried to choose her words carefully "If you don't get along then I'm kicking you out of our group!"
The sun beat down harshly, the silence was there again and this time it lingered for its own pleasure. Glances were spared, attempts to speak up defeated and the echo of her words brought further resentment between the two.
With a look of exhaustion, Jinora ignored her friends and found further silence in her attempt to find a place to meditate. Lefty provided her further shade as she walked the furthest she could away from the group.
Jinora's words only aided to Ming's anger, she was beyond a reason to hate Kuzon, she just did, and now his simple action of breathing made her find irritation. She was being petty and childish, and she understood that now more with Jinora's words but she was characteristically head strong. She couldn't let go and that's same resilience was held by Kuzon himself.
"You made her upset!" she further held her ground, an apology was not escaping her mouth, especially not to the likes of him.
"If anyone made her upset it was you and your –"before Kuzon's retort could meet Ming's ear he was abruptly cut off by Kai who with an exasperated tone requested they got wood for the fire.
Kuzon looked around sceptically before he finally spoke, "Dude it's scorching already I'm pretty sure we don't need-"
"Just get some… and take Ming with you" he almost shouted staring blankly at his friend as he walked away, trying to collect what was left of Jinora's maps, Kysohi jogging after him.
Left alone the two could barely look at each other, albeit the awkward glances that they both held upon realization they had no idea what they were supposedly meant to do.
Kuzon glanced at Jinora's directions, guilt washing over him as he stared blankly at his hands. Following a single collection of breath he apologized and it fell on death ears as Ming continued to rant on. So he walked up to her , his eyes tiresome with their constant quarrels, his hands resting on her shoulders as he spoke again.
"I'm sorry, can we just start again" She looked u,p a quick blush creeping on her face as she pushed him away noting how close they were.
"You're forgiven" she finally replied looking away as he tried to hide her face. "And I'm sorry to "She spoke admittedly. " We have no reason to fight, friend?" she smiled up towards him providing her hand for him to shake.
"Friend "he concluded coyly, returning the action.
"You made up, that easily … really" Jinora spoke joyfully as she made her way to the pair embracing them into a hug, one that Kai and Kyoshi quickly joined.
"Kai, I'm sorry, I know you don't like conflict, I shouldn't have taken my frustration out on you" Jinora spoke smiling up at him with a hopeful look.
Kai responded by lacing his fingers with hers before leaning in and kissing her on her forehead.
"Its fine, I can never get mad at you"
Kuzon and Ming gave each other a knowing look as Kyoshi clapped in exaggeration.
They had a weird way of solving their problems, and with the map all but ruined their nature of their journey would also change. But as she looked on a blush sill reaming on her face she couldn't help but repeat the echo in her head. She didn't mind.
