Hey everyone I'm back. Just got my new laptop so I don't have to keep using my dad's computer. Anyways here's a new installment so enjoy.
The image was vivid in his mind. Patton stood in front of his brother, but something wasn't right. Riley towered over him with a menacing look in his deep brown eyes. He wore the teen ninja's armor and began to walk towards the younger boy. Patton was frozen in place watching his beloved older brother stare him down like a lion stalking a zebra. Feeling fear rise up in him Patton tried to move away from the approaching teen but couldn't feel his legs.
"Ry-ry what are you doing? You said you'd never join the teen ninjas." The older looked at him and laughed sending a shiver down Patton's spine. Kneeling to make eye contact the older boy put his hand around his brother's throat.
"Never trust a teenager baby boy." The voice wasn't Riley's, it was Chad's. Patton gasped as he felt the boy before him begin to squeeze his neck. Tears pooled in the boy's eyes as he screamed for his brother to stop, his screams were soon silenced and everything around him went dark.
"PATTON WAKE UP BABY BRO, PATTON!" The boy shocked awake sitting up quickly darting his eyes around the room. He breathed heavy and could feel sweat on his face. Patton was shaking and not knowing what else to do with the dream still fresh in his mind began crying. He tightened his grip on his plush toy and sobbed into the soft green fur of the monkey. Suddenly feeling arms wrapping around him Patton looked up to see the face of his brother, concern apparent on his face.
"It's alright Pat, it was just a bad dream. Come here buddy." Still in tears Patton allowed himself to be lifted into the older boy's lap. Clutching his rainbow monkey he curled into his brother's chest and tried to breathe. Riley nuzzled his little brother's dark hair and tightened his hold when Patton started shaking again. Patton had been crying out in his sleep and the sound woke Riley up.
"Boys what's going on here?" Both brothers looked up to see their parents watching from the doorway. Patton sniffed and started to calm down. Riley continued to hug his brother close shushing him gently and rubbing circles on his back to sooth him.
"Everything's okay dad, Patton had a nightmare is all." Mr. D nodded walking toward his sons. Mrs. D followed behind sitting opposite of Riley and kissed Patton's head sweetly.
"I...I'm okay now, I just got a little spooked." Riley rolled his eyes and shifted a bit to look at the younger boy.
"That was more than just a little spook Pat, what was your dream about? Can you remember it?" Patton shook his head resting back into Riley's chest. The dream had faded from his mind and he couldn't recall what was so scary to him.
"Well don't think to hard on it soldier, you're gonna need your energy for today." Patton looked at his father confused. What could the man be talking about? His head was still a bit fuzzy from a few minuets ago but the idea that his dad had something planned for them to do that day excited him.
"Where are we going dad?" Patton smiled wiping away the last of his tears. Riley set him back on the bed as their father stood up with a big grin.
"The four of us are heading for the lake today. It's a good day to get out as a family. I packed the car last night so all we need to do is get up and go." Patton's smile grew bigger at the news, he loved to swim.
"This'll be fun won't it Pat?" Patton nodded jumping onto his brother's back laughing, moments earlier now forgotten. A day at the lake with his family was something that Patton adored, especially when his father brought stuff for a BBQ.
"Aright boys, we want to get there early to find a spot so get a move on the both of you." Nodding together the Drilvosky brothers quickly prepared themselves for a day of swimming. Once both were ready the family piled into the mini van and headed right for the big lake outside of town.
