Day 5: Kagome
She sighed as she turned on her side and wished that she could just float away. It felt like forever that she's been with this gorgeous siren with peacock feathers. She sighed as she stopped pretending to sleep and stared at her with her lips clenched. The siren has picked up a flower and was staring at it with a blissful look on her face. At least she's happy, Kagome couldn't help but to think bitterly, as she looked up at the grey sky. It looked like rain was coming but she couldn't find it in her to care. She hated the siren but she couldn't help to feel like slightly grateful since she wouldn't know the betrayal much longer. She felt tired and angry and hurt and fed up.
She stood up and noticed that the siren was looking at her expectantly. The siren has gotten more beautiful since she started singing due to her being able to feed. She has filled out even more and has deeper colors. Her wings seem bigger and fully along with her breasts and she seems taller too. She turned away and ran her hand through her hair. It was gritty and dirty due to her not washing it for the past…five days? It has been five days and Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango have not found her. Her heart felt even heavier and she hated everyone at that moment. She shook her head for a moment and she fell to her knees. She felt like a horrible person. How could she hate anyone, for all they knew she went home.
She laid on her back and glanced up at the sky. The want to sing was pressing at her lips but not as much as it was the day before. She glanced over at the Siren again and realized that her eyes were narrowed. After a shrug of her shoulders, she turned to stare back up at the sky. After a few moments, she realized that the siren was standing over her, staring down.
"You are not supposed to be awake yet, young Priestess. You are a lot stronger than I thought. I will remember that for the future." She glanced down into the sad filled eyes of the Priestess and sighed. After five days, she continues to be resistant even after everything that she has suffered. Her heart was breaking even more every day and it was starting to break the Siren's heart. The Siren wasn't unfeeling or even malicious, she was just cursed by the Gods and had to do what she could to survive. She glanced up into the grey sky and glanced back at her. "Do you like being outside staring up at the sky?" At the brief nod, the Siren smiled slightly and raised her hand. "I will grant you some freedom every day but do not wonder far and don't try to run away."
Kagome sat up with excitement and stood up and ran to a nearby tree. She glanced up through the trees. I wonder if Inuyasha ever sat in this tree or ran through it. She sighed and reached to touch a low branch. Is Kikyo and Inuyasha in a tree now, looking up at the sky too? At that thought, she pictured him bounded to tree by the arrow, then all of the time that they had spent together flashed through her mind. His golden eyes, white hair, dog ears and his many expressions ran together with her tears as they filled her mind. Inuyasha. Inuyasha. "INUYASHAAA!" She screamed as her grief, anger, hurt, pain, jealously, fear and all emotions flew out of her mouth and combined into the scream. She started crying as she felt her heart break. For the first time, she was losing faith in Inuyasha and hope and the combination was heartbreaking and almost more than she could bear however, Kagome was not one to break.
As she became aware of her surroundings slowly as she felt a hand run through her hair. She gasped and sat up staring at the Siren with surprise at the kind gesture. Kashu gave her a sad smile and removed her hand.
"Usually by this time, the human has started losing themselves to me. They think less but I see that you are different. You have a lot more strength. I know that you think that I am evil but I am cursed to do this." Kagome stared at the beautiful Siren.
"As you know, I am a Siren from the distant oceans off the coast of Greece. Sirens sang in order to call men of our kind to us as well as for any situations such as weddings, funerals or because we were bored but of course humans called us evil because they did not understand us. I sang and drew a human male to myself and we ended up…well you know." Kashu stared off for a minute as she immersed herself into the memory, "anyways he was a favorite of Athena and she cursed me. All of my kind is dead and gone along with the Goddess but my curse wears on. So you see young Priestess, Good and Evil depend on whose side you are coming from..."
The Priestess was quiet for a moment as her mind once again wandered to Inuyasha. Everyone assumed that he was evil or weak depending on who was looking at him because he was a half-demon but he was kind, gentle, protective and fun. As she started smiling to herself, she saw the image of Inuyasha's arms around Kikyo as he sheltered her close to his heart. He's held her like that…maybe once but nothing for what it seemed like with them. He still loved her. As Kagome sat brooding, she felt a surge of anger. Here she was in the fight for her life and he's off with his DEAD ex-girlfriend…or girlfriend now! She looked at Kashu. She was right, Kagome thought she was evil but instead she was just trying to survive. "Has anyone came through this…."
Kagome didn't know how to word the question but one look at the Siren and she knew the answer. She felt a gentle hand slide through her hair and she looked back at Kashu.
"If someone had the ability to it is you. I never had someone remain this strong this long."
Kagome smiled even as she allowed fear to fill her. Along with fear came anger again. She could feel her face turn red as she continued to think about this situation. It was almost hopeless but instead of falling into despair, she tossed her head. She realized that Kashu forced her to sing but Inuyasha was the one who ran off with Kikyo. She realized that she kept waiting on Inuyasha to save her but that hope and wish were behind her now. She was strong. She felt the push for her to sing and she allowed it.
Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleached-blond tramp,
and she's probably getting frisky...
right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink
'cause she can't shoot whiskey...
Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool stick,
showing her how to shoot a combo...
And he don't know...
That I dug my key into the side
of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
Kashu was surprised because Kagome's voice was strong and that she was so into it. Her black hair swirled around her as her head was back and her voice filled the air.
Right now, she's probably up singing some
white-trash version of Shania karaoke.
Right now, she's probably saying, "I'm drunk"
and he's a-thinking that he's gonna get lucky,
Right now, he's probably dabbing on
3 dollars worth of that bathroom Polo...
Oh, and he don't know...
That I dug my key into the side
of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
Kagome was surprised as she felt her anger flow out through the song and she felt it was true. Yes Inuyasha was not technically her boyfriend but she felt betrayed. She helped find the jewel shards and then she is just casted aside! Her anger continued to boil over as she continued singing. The song somehow started making her feel better. If she had anything to do it with it, she would not become a mindless puppet as Kashu told her two days ago. She was too strong and believed in herself too much for that. Besides, she could still find jewel shards; she would go with Sango and Miroku. Her voice lowers slightly for the next part, as was part of the song, however Kagome didn't think Kikyo had anything to worry about since she was the one he wanted to be with.
I might've saved a little trouble for the next girl,
'cause the next time that he cheats...
Oh, you know it won't be on me!
No... not on me
Tears formed slightly as she sang through this part but she angrily wiped them away before raising her voice for the last part of the song.
'Cause I dug my key into the side
of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
Oh, maybe next time he'll think before he cheats...
Oh, before he cheats... oh, oh.
Kagome finished and turned to watch the Siren with a slight blush in her cheeks. There were more demons here than before. She could not lie, she still wished that Inuyasha would save her but she knew it was possible that she might die in five days. She was not even surprised watching the Siren feed and as she continued watching, she could feel the anger flow through her once again. She would be surprised if Inuyasha didn't hear her. With that thought in her head, she took a deep breath and screamed "SIT BOY!"
That'll show him! She hoped he heard that before a deep fatigue started settling in her mind and heart. She glanced at Kashu but the Siren was too busy eating. She sighed and allowed the fatigue to overcome her and put her into a deep sleep.
Author's Note: The song she sang was "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.
