Chapter 11

It had been a week since the party, coming back to LA was going to happen soon. Kurt was happy, in only a couple of weeks he'd be in LA, free and with the liberty of doing anything he wanted without worrying about someone seeing him.

Blaine had told him he wanted to go with them. He'd stay for a while to think what he'd do with his life in America and while both of them agreed on something about their lives together. It was something hard and complicated but Kurt was sure they could come to a solution… together.

"Okay, I think it's time you tell me now. What happened?"

Kurt blinked confused, he was lost in his thoughts-like he'd been for a few weeks-and he turned to see Rachel looking at him from the other side of the table eating her breakfast. How did she get there?

"Eh?... When did you get here?" He asked her confused.

"Oh, now I'm worried… Kurt, I've been here since the beginning. Seriously, you've been with a smile for the last couple of days that mak- OH MY GOD! DID YOU FINALLY DO IT WITH COOPER?!"

Kurt's eyes were wide open and he quickly shut her mouth with his hand.

"Shhhh. Are you crazy?"

"What did you do with Cooper?" Finn asked him from the living room without taking his eyes off the cartoons.

"Nothing, Finn," Kurt said while he looked at Rachel coldly and took his hand off.

"They were just playing Twister," Rachel told him to then turn to face Kurt and whisper. "Yeah, Twister with their clothes off, sweaty and on the bed. Where did you place your right hand, Kurt?"

"Oh my God, Rachel! Who are you? Santana? No. I did not do anything with Cooper, stop thinking that. I was just thinking about my life in LA, you know."

"Oh sure. The golden beach. I still don't know how you can still live there Kurt. Your dream is New York. NEW YORK! Broadway! Central park! Ellis Island! The Empire State! Fashion Week, Kurt! What else can you ask for?"

"LA has a Fashion Week too. If everything works out fine I'll be there," Kurt said with a smile.

"If what works out fine?" Rachel asked him with curiosity.

"Nothing- And I don't have to go to New York, my job's in LA. I'm happy there."

"But that's because you're giving up Kurt," Rachel said intensely. "I know how much you love New York and I know you can do very well if you want to come back. Puck would love to have one of his best friends back."

"If what you're trying to do is convince me to go to New York, mentioning Puck is not the best way. I love him but that man is worse than Cooper," he said with a smile.

"He's changed, you know. He lives with Quinn now."

"Quinn?" Kurt asked her curiously. "His college girlfriend? The one that broke his heart?"

"Yes," Rachel said smiling. "They're back together and they have a very stable relationship. She's pregnant, I think they're having a girl. I'm not very sure."

"Really? I didn't know that."

"Well, you would if you were more focused on your friends," she scolded him while she stood up.

"I am focused on my friends, Rachel. Being focused on my job too is very different," he said.

"And in your fiancé," she said angry.

"What is your problem Rachel? Ever since you found out I'm engaged you've only done rude comments. Does my relationship with Cooper bother you?"

Rachel looked at him for a few seconds and then sighed and sat down. "It doesn't, you know I totally support you. You're my best friend."

"Doesn't look like it," Kurt said crossing his arms.

"I guess I'm a little jealous," she said shrugging. "I'm jealous because I've been dating your brother for years and I guarantee he's never thought about proposing," she said sighing.

Both of them turned to look at the living room, they could see Finn sitting on the couch laughing and pointing at the Bugs Bunny cartoons while he miraculously didn't choke with cereal.

'You've got to be kidding me.' Kurt thought. 'Those cartoons are so old. Hasn't he learned them yet?'

Kurt sighed and approached Rachel to take her hands in his. "You don't have to feel that way Rachel. You're both still young. Finn's a little slow, I know it. But that dummy loves you with all his heart. And if he hasn't proposed yet he'll do it soon, trust me. Even if he does it with an onion ring… which I don't doubt," he said smiling when Rachel laughed. "Finn and you are meant to be together forever."

"Like you and Cooper?" She asked him looking at him curiously.

"Em… sure… like me and Cooper," he said standing up and getting away from her.

"I don't get it," Rachel said. "The Kurt I know would be screaming he's about to get married. He would already be choosing the guests' seats! You haven't even checked out wedding salons. What about your dream about getting married at The Plaza?"

Kurt was biting his lips… he knew that if someone would realize something it would be Rachel. And he couldn't allow that, Rachel was the most gossip person there could possibly be; he loved her but he would never trust her a secret. Finn was easier, he'd forget what he'd been told a couple of hours later.

"There's still time Rachel… in fact, why don't we get ready and go to the Lima Bean? I'll call Santana and it'll be a friends hang-out. Great!... I'll go get ready!"

Kurt left the kitchen heading to his room and leaving a very confused Rachel.

'What are you hiding, Kurt Hummel?'

As always, the Lima Bean was full. Santana was already there, luckily she was already in line when they got there.

"Finally," Santana said mad. "For a moment I thought Rachel had eaten you with her enormous mouth."

"You're always so sweet, Santana," Rachel said with a grin.

"Guys, don't do this. I don't want you to make a scene and to be banned from the only good place Lima has," Kurt said.

The girls were about to answer but Kurt's cell phone interrupted them.

"It's Cooper," he said. "I'll be right back."

Santana just rolled her eyes when he got out of the store.

"What's wrong, Coop?" Kurt asked him. He was in a very good mood that day. He didn't want Cooper to ruin it.

"Nothing… I'm calling to tell you I'll be out for a few days."

"Out? Where?"

"A friend of mine has a cottage at the mountains so I'll go to relax for a bit."

"Sure," Kurt said. "And I guess you don't want me to stop by your house so your parents think we're together, right?"

"No, I actually told them I'd be with my friends."

"Your parents bought that? You know how angry they were when you said you'd be in Columbus for a few hours and you didn't take me. They want to us practically glued to each other."

"Don't worry. I told them my friends are planning a 'bachelor party'. You know the other boyfriend isn't supposed to go."

"Mmm that's actually a good idea," Kurt said. "How long will you stay?"

"I'm leaving tomorrow night so maybe four or five days."

"Okay, have fun then."

"Oh! And you can go to the house. I know you want to see Blaine and all…"

"Sure and they won't suspect if I'm at your house while you're gone," Kurt said sarcastically.

"They won't, my parents think that house is as yours as it's ours. Believe me, if they see you there they won't care."

"Okay," Kurt said sighing. "I guess I wish you a good trip in case we don't see each other later. Are you at your place?"

"No, I'm with a cute friend."

"The one you're going to the cottage with?"

"No… that's Ashley… I think…"

"I'm surprised you really don't have some kind of STD," Kurt scolded him. "I'm sure your parents think you're with me."

"Of course they do. They think we're at a romantic picnic in Lima… Do me a favor and buy yourself some roses to then take a picture, okay? I want my parents to see how romantic I am."

"Sure, super romantic," Kurt said with sarcasm. "Enjoy your real date.2

By the time Kurt came back, Rachel and Santana were already sitting at one of the tables near the corner and they had his coffee waiting for him.

"What did Cooper want?" Santana asked him as soon as he got there.

"Oh, he's leaving for a few days. He wanted me to know," Kurt said while he started to write something on his cell phone.

"Where's he going?" Rachel asked curiously.

"To a cottage with his friends."

His cell phone rang in that moment indicating an entering text, and judging by Kurt's huge smile and loving eyes, Santana knew exactly who it was from.

"I've gotta go," he said with a smile while he took his coffee. "I'm really sorry. Another time?"

Kurt left before any of them could say something. All Santana could do was yell that he owed her $15 before he left the coffee shop.

"What was that?" Rachel asked Santana.

"Apparently he had to go," Santana said before drinking some coffee. Kurt was going to suffer, how did he leave her alone with Rachel Berry?

"Something's very odd," Rachel said, she wasn't convinced at all. "Do you expect me to believe that Kurt agrees his fiancé leaves for a few days for no reason?"

"What do you want me to tell you, Berry? If Kurt doesn't care I don't see why should you," Santana said angrily.

"You know something," Rachel said looking at her intensely pointing at her face. Wasn't she related to Cooper somehow? "Everything's very weird… ever since I found out about the commitment I haven't stopped thinking it's very odd. Kurt wouldn't be engaged to someone for no reason."

"Shut up Berry!" Santana said moving her hand down and turning to see if no one was watching.

"Tell me the truth," Rachel said. "They're not together, are they?... I've seen them together, they don't touch each other like they were in love. There's no love in their eyes!"

"Damn!" Santana said angry. Kurt was going to kill her but there was nothing left they could do… at least not tell her all the truth. "You and your stupid romantic ideas… Yes, Cooper and Kurt are not really engaged."

"I knew it!" Rachel said with a satisfied and proud smile. "Why are they doing this? What's the point?"

"It's for Cooper. If he doesn't get married or at least has a stable relationship, his parents will disinherit him and apparently he needs money. Kurt needs it too so Cooper will pay him for pretending they are together."

"Kurt is doing this for money?... Fashion Week!"

"What?" Santana asked her with a confused grin.

"This morning Kurt told me if everything works out fine he'd be at Fashion Week. He was talking about the money Cooper will give him!"

"So… that's a good think, don't you think? Everybody wins. Kurt gets his money and so does Cooper."

"But… but… it's like he's selling himself," Rachel said.

"Listen, this was Kurt's decision so you don't have to interfere," Santana said intensely. She didn't demonstrate very often but Kurt was one of her most important people and she'd defend him no matter what. "I made a huge mistake by telling you this so the best for you to do is to shut your mouth. If you really appreciate Kurt you'll do it or I swear Berry I will punch you so hard you'll forget who Barbra Streisand is."

Scared by Santana's look, Rachel nodded. She knew Santana always kept her promises.

Minutes later, they went out of the coffee shop, taking different roads. Ignoring just behind their table was a person who had heard all the conversation.

"So the princess is playing with the Andersons?... And for money… a gold digger," the person said with a huge smile. "This is about to get interesting."

The person started dialing a number.

"Hello?"

"I've got a job for you."

"I'm listening."

"Hunter, what do say about following someone?"

Kurt arrived to the small restaurant with a smile. Blaine and he had found it a few days ago, it was in the middle of the road, hidden. Nobody they knew would dare to go to that place. To their surprise food was delicious so seeing each other there wasn't a real sacrifice.

"You're late," Blaine said, pouting at him already sitting at a table near the window.

"Hey, I drove as fast as I could," Kurt said approaching him. "It's not my fault you're so desperate," he said with a smile before giving him a kiss on the lips.

Other of the benefits of the place was the environment. The coffee shop was full of elderly people, or drivers stopping by and in spite of being in Ohio they didn't care at all about watching young PDAs.

The first time they got there, they were very nervous, they were barely making eye contact because they were afraid of the men around them. They were decided to leave for a minute, until Alice the waitress arrived-and apparently the only one the place had-.

"Kisses aren't forbidden," she said winking while she served coffee.

"Yeah, you can see you're dying to do it from miles away," a fat driver said from the bar.

The two of them were blushed to their ears.

"You don't care?" Blaine asked shyly. Kurt thought he looked like an Elementary school kid in that moment.

"Not at all!" A man from the other side of the restaurant yelled. "You'd be surprised to know what we've seen in our trips… two young men making out is nothing compared to other things."

"See?" Alice said. "You don't have to worry about it here."

From that day on that little place became of their favorite places.

"Same as usual?" Alice asked them with a smile after they ordered.

"No," Blaine said with a smile before Kurt could say a thing. "Bring us two special burgers and one vanilla milkshake please."

"Just one?"

"Yes," Blaine said without losing his smile. "With two straws."

"You two are so sweet… I'll bring your order."

Alice left and Kurt turned to face Blaine annoyed.

"I wanted salad. I always order salad."

"I know," Blaine said taking his hand on the table. "But this is a traditional date, you know with burgers, milkshakes… everything about the 50's."

"Well this place does look 50's like," Kurt said pointing at the white and black floor like the seats. "A little cheesy, isn't it?" He said with a small mocking smile.

"We are a cheesy couple," Blaine said smiling.

When the food came Kurt wanted to scream, the special burger was huge. How the hell did Blaine expect him to eat that?

"What?" Blaine said with a smile when he saw his surprised face.

"Do you really expect me to eat all of this?... This will shut my arteries with a bite, it's huge. I can't eat it."

"Don't talk like that," Blaine said and then bit his own burger. The sound it made when he bit it reminded him of another situation not appropriate for a coffee shop in the middle of the road. "It's delicious, you're going to love it," he said with his mouth still full.

"Sometimes it's hard for me to believe you're gay," Kurt said rolling his eyes but grabbing his burger anyway to give it a small bite.

"And?"

"Oh my God!" Kurt said making another pleasure sound which he'd be embarrassed about in other circumstances but he didn't care in that moment. It was delicious. It was the best burger of his life. "I want to marry this burger," Kurt said before giving it another bite… this time a huge one.

"Hey! Do you really want to make me feel jealous about a burger?" Blaine said laughing.

"You already have a burger," Kurt said with food in his mouth causing Blaine to laugh.

"I'll pretend Kurt Hummel, the finest person in the world, didn't talk with his mouth full only because I know this burger is delicious."

"Hey! What did you expect? It's amazing, you can't judge me… okay you can judge me," Kurt said shrugging with a smile.

"It's adorable," Blaine said looking at him with loving eyes. "I think you're adorable."

Kurt smiled and pointed at his burger. "If you don't eat it I'll do it as soon as I'm done with this one."

"And you said you wouldn't finish it."

The two of them finished their burgers very satisfied. They knew they would never order anything that wasn't that burger every time they came back.

"Do you want a milkshake?" Blaine asked him while he placed it between the two of them, each straw pointing to one of them.

Maybe it was ridiculous, or even silly to some people, but having Blaine's face near his while they had their milkshake in that moment was something amazing.

Blaine took his hand, without separating from the milkshake, the smile on his face reflected by Kurt's.

"It's an ideal date," Kurt said smiling.

"And it's not over yet," Blaine said while he started standing up.

"No? You've got another surprise for me?"

Blaine walked to an old jukebox located in the background of the restaurant.

"What's missing for it to be a total 50's date?"

"Music?" Kurt asked him.

"Elvis," Blaine said before music filled the place.

You know I can be found,
Sitting home all alone,
If you can't come around,
At least please telephone.
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.

Blaine walked to him taking his hand and forcing him to get up in front of everyone-not many people actually-and they danced Rock and Roll laughing non-stopping and enjoying applauses and cheers from people.

It was night worth remembering.

"You didn't have to come to my house, Blaine."

Once their date was over, Blaine was determined to accompany him to Lima, each with their own car but he'd accompany him. He was a total gentleman.

"I have to make sure you're here sound and safe," Blaine said with a smile.

They were at the entrance porch. Kurt was laying on one of the pillars while Blaine was in front of him. Enclosing him.

"I had a great time," Kurt said with a smile, while Blaine caressed his cheek. "It was one of the best dates I've had in my life."

"Oh, and you've had a lot of dates?" Blaine's tone was mocking but Kurt could notice the seriousness and curiosity in his eyes.

"Not many really. No one would come up to me in high school and I barely had the time after… and when I did let's say they weren't gentlemen."

"Idiots."

Blaine leaned closer and kissed him softly. With his hands, he played with his face in such a tender way it made Kurt's leg weak. He didn't know how he was still standing up.

"You drive me crazy," Blaine said once they stopped the kiss. "I feel like I've been looking for you forever."

"Well, now you found me," Kurt said smiling.

"And I don't want to let you go," Blaine said with the same smile before kissing him again.

Blaine's kisses were amazing, his soft lips made Kurt lose himself. Blaine surrounded Kurt's waist with his hands, and Kurt was surrounding his neck.

They were both lost, enjoying that kiss that was so equal and so different from the others. It wasn't until they noticed a light turning on and off quickly that they broke apart.

"I think your dad wants you in," Blaine said smiling.

"He treats me like I'm a high school girl. It's not fair."

"Hey, it makes this an even more classical date, doesn't it?"

"Your father forcing you to get into your house when you're 26 is not a good thing," Kurt said with his arms crossed.

"It's nice seeing your father worrying about you," Blaine said giving him another kiss.

The lights started to turn on and off again making Kurt sigh with anger.

"COMING!" He screamed making the light remain on.

"Good night, Kurt."

"Good night, Blaine."

They smiled at each other, Blaine turned around to go to his car but before he reached it Kurt ran to catch him and stopped him.

"Your good night kiss," he said giving him a soft kiss on the lips.

"Bye."

Blaine remained where he was looking at him, Kurt entered his house with safe steps while Blaine stayed there with a huge smile thinking about how much he loved him.

It had definitely been a wonderful night.

There was nothing more relaxing for Kurt Hummel than shopping. Nothing could beat the happiness he had when he buys new clothes or leather shoes and especially if they were on offer… maybe a night with Blaine could beat it… maybe.

"What a surprise to find you here," a voice behind his back said while he was loading everything to his car.

Kurt turned very surprised and with a not so sincere smile he greeted his companion.

"Adam! What are you doing here?"

"Shopping, just like you… I have to admit I'm not very good though," he said pointing at all the bags Kurt had with a smile.

"Yeah… what's better than shopping…sometimes I tend to buy a little too much. But only a few times."

"Well, I see nothing wrong with it," Adam said approaching to take one of the bags and get it on the car. "You always look amazing."

"Thanks," Kurt said trying to smile. "You really don't have to help me, I can do it."

"I'm not going to leave you alone with these bags Kurt… I'm not that kind of guy," Adam said with a smile.

Adam was close, too close to be comfortable. Kurt could smell his lotion from where he was and it wasn't a very nice smell… it was too sweet…

'A little too much like him.' Kurt thought.

There was only one bag left and both of them attempted to grab it. Adam had a hand on his. Kurt wanted to move it but Adam took his removing it from the bad and taking it to him.

"You know, I still don't know how do have such a soft skin," he said caressing his hand and looking at him intensely.

"A lot of creams," Kurt said sharply trying to set his hand free but Adam was holding it tightly. "Could you give me my hand back?" He said now angry.

"You don't have to be mad Kurt, I'm just saying how soft your skin is."

Adam raised Kurt's hand to his lips and kissed it making Kurt anger grow.

"I'm engaged to your friend, in case you don't remember," he said finally getting himself free and hugging his hand.

"I know and you don't know how sorry I am that Cooper is the one who has such an extraordinary person like you."

While Adam was talking he got closer to Kurt enclosing him between the car and his body.

"I have to go," Kurt said trying to push him away but he didn't seem to succeed. ""Adam, move! This is called harassment. I'll call security if you don't move."

"It's amazing how much your beauty rises when you're angry. You don't know how desperate I am to taste your lips."

Kurt was about to slap him but before he could even move Adam took his waist and kissed him.

It lasted a few seconds to react, the kiss was abusive and really gross, it wasn't until he felt Adam's tongue trying to get in that he reacted. He pushed him to hard it was a miracle he didn't fall.

"YOU'RE DISGUSTING!"

He quickly grabbed the remaining bag, closed the trunk and quickly got on his car, to leave as fast as he could. Holding his urge to run over that damn blondie.

Many people could hate Sebastian Smythe and he was sure there were plenty of people but he couldn't care less.

Ever since he was a kid his only worry had been himself. His family to a certain point but there wasn't anything more important than him. Sebastian went wherever he wanted, he always bought what he wanted and had who he wanted.

Always.

Maybe his methods weren't the right ones but they always gave him the best results and as long as he'd have them, the method didn't care at all.

His cell phone rang that afternoon. Just when he was changing his clothes, John… or was it James? Was looking at him from the bed with lovingly eyes.

'Poor idiot'. He thought before answering with a smile.

"You better have something good for me."

"I have something better than that," the voice at the other line said.

"Oh, yeah?"

"Smyhte, the material I have in my hands will give you everything you want."
