The simple motion of putting on a shirt tore at the still heavily bandaged midsection of Scott McCall. Biting his lower lip he fought through the pain of sticking his last arm through the plaid button down shirt Kira had laid out for him. Scott let out deep breaths as the pain let up. He stopped after the second step he took, looking down to see he was still in his black boxers.
"Who's there?" Scott responded to knocking on the door.
"It's Stiles," a voice answered, and the door opened. When he stepped into the room, Stiles couldn't help but smile.
"What are you smiling at?" Scott said as he began to smile back.
"At you…standing there in your boxers all hurt. Sucks to feel pain, doesn't it?"
"Oh, yeah, thought I'd be healed by now," Scott said, clutching at his ribs as he fell forwards, losing his balance. Stiles fumbled to his friend's side, helping him to a seated position on the bed.
"Just take it easy, Scott, Deaton said it's going to be a while till you're healed,."
"Why?" Scott asked, winded.
"The knife, Deaton said it was spelled to absorb your mystical abilities. That's why you're not healing as fast. Hell you shouldn't even be out of bed, let alone putting on clothing. You're going to pass out from the pain,!"
"I'm fine, Stiles, I…I'm fine,."
"You trying to convince yourself or me?" Stiles smiled, and poked Scott in the side. Scott groaned in pain, locking his lips as tightly as possible to prevent showing his pain.
"Go ahead Scott, get up and get dressed." Stiles motioned with his hand for Scott to get up. The alpha let out a deep breath and struggled to his feet. Grinding his teeth together to bare the pain he bent down to pick up a pair of jeans. Scott's eyes began to roll back in his head as the pain became too much.
"Scott!" Stiles shouted as the alpha collapsed onto the ground. Stiles pulled his friend up with every bit of strength he had and got him back on his bed.
"Scott, wake up!" Stiles lightly slapped his friend's face. Scott's eyes flickered slightly as he groaned each time Stiles touched him.
"What happened?" Scott asked in a low voice.
"You passed out," Stiles said as he helped Scott into a propped up position. "Scott, you need to rest, forget about school today, I can't even believe you care that much about it," Stiles said and smiled, covering up his own fear for his best friend's safety.
"Yeah, I think you're right," Scott said, smirking slightly.
"Well, the fact that you actually listen to me proves how badly you're hurt,"Stiles said with a chuckle. "Just rest up, ok?" He got to his feet. Scott didn't reply, but he was worried. It wasn't the pain, that much he knew. Something else concerned him as he watched Stiles walk from the room, but he just didn't know what it was.
…..
The halls of Eichen House are teemed with the lost minds of the patients that call it home, but it also has a dark secret, a prison for the monsters of Beacon Hills on the top floor.
"I don't get many visitors," the man with the bandaged head said as he turned towards the front of the plexiglass prison he was in.
"I don't normally waste my time coming to mental houses," a younger man said as he pulled a metal folding chair to the center of the room.
"I was expecting someone else ever since they locked him in here with me," the prisoner said, pointing to a man lying on his back and mumbling something under his breath. "But why don't you come closer so we can talk,?"
"Cut the crap Valack, I'm not a fool, I know why you drilled away at your head and what you can see because of it," the boy stated. "You do know who I am?"
"Yes," the man hissed and rushed to the glass. "You're a kid!"
"I'm Luca, and let's just say I look damn good for my real age. Now, Dr. Valack, my father has plans for you and Mr. Hale there, but I'm going to need you to wake him up, since I don't have a Banshee handy."
"What's in it for me?"
The younger man smiled. "It's just a matter of time before the Dread Doctors find you. I know you saw the visions there coming and I'm glad because my master is fond of them. Since you wrote the book on them, I'm going to need you to tell me where I can find them. They're quite hard to find, but thanks to the Nemeton I know they're coming. All you have to do is tell me where they like to hide,." Luca approached the wall that separated them, his nose just inches away from the thick glass.
"Quid pro quo, boy," Valack smiled.
"I was never a fan of you seers, especially you with that eye, but my master thinks you hold some value. So I've been told to play nice. Wake Hale, tell me what I need, and you will get your freedom from his cage – and protection," Luca said.
"Fair enough," Valack replied, removing the bandages wrapped around his head. Luca quickly stepped back from the glass. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Dr. Valack looking towards Peter Hale. Low groaning brought Luca's attention back towards the cell.
"Up and "em", Dr. Valack said as he stepped away from the cot. Frantically Peter jumped up, hyperventilating as he looked through the room.
"Mr. Hale, we need to talk," Luca spoke up, drawing Peter's attention.
"I'm going to rip your fucking throat out," Peter snarled.
"Mr. Hale, if you try anything Dr. Valack there will end up putting you back to sleep, and I would rather free you both,."
At that, Peter perked up. "Who the fuck are you, boy?" he asked, stepping closer to the glass.
"I'm Luca, Mr. Hale, and I'm no boy. Actually, I'm quite a lot older than you. Also, show some Goddamn respect when you talk to the person who's come to offer you your freedom!" Luca's voice cracked with anger as he yelled.
"Peter, can I call you Peter?" – Peter nodded yes – "I have to say, Peter, it was quite a shame you couldn't defeat Scott McCall. Peter's face tensed with fury.
"No need to get angry, Peter, I underestimate him and that little pack he's created. I never thought the combination of the Deadpool, Kate, the Berserkers, and you would fail to kill any of them. Like I said, my plans failed, I underestimated him just as you did."
"Your plan? You had nothing to do with anything that happened, kid!" Peter snarled.
Luca laughed as he stood from his seat. "I pulled all the strings, Peter, stealing your money, the Deadpool, sending Kate the Berserkers, bringing back dear little Meredith to be revealed as the Benefactor, while blaming you. I thought that would give you the final push to kill Scott at last, but sadly you failed and brought me here to do the dirty work myself."
"Clever, I give you that much. So you're a Necromancer?" Peter asked.
"Yes,. Shocking how not a single person asked how little old Meredith showed up after tying a bed sheet around her neck." Luca laughed. "Even that vet emissary was clueless!"
"Not to interrupt your boasting, but what do you want with me?" Peter asked.
"I might need you to distract Scott's pack when the time comes, but first I need to know where to find the Desert Wolf."
Peter smirked. "She would kill you before you got a word out, even if you could find her."
"Peter, we both know she's Malia's mother, and you also know I don't die that easily. How can I find her, Peter? As soon as I find her you gain your freedom,."
Peter smiled. "You scratch my back, I scratch yours,."
"Mara!" Luca shouted. A petite dolly faced blond girl entered the room, her lips noticeably stained with blood.
"Didn't I tell you, not to snack?" Luca's nose twitched as he talked down to the girl.
"Don't worry, I let out a perversion. It'll catch the blame and distract the dogs," she smiled.
"Mara, next time don't overstep your orders, or else…" Luca quickly turned his attention back towards Peter as the smile on Mara's face turned into a scowl.
"I will free you, Mr. Hale, and in exchange you will take me to the Desert Wolf,."
Peter smiled. "We have a deal, but she will try to kill us,."
"Trust me, I'm not worried. There is a war coming, and my side will win." Luca turned away from the cell. Peter couldn't see the smile spreading across Luca's face as he walked towards the door.
"Let me out!" Peter's screams and banging went unanswered,. "We have a deal!" He continued to bellow as Mara and Luca took leave of left the room.
"I thought we were here to free him?" Mara asked as the door closed.
Luca smiled,. "Only testing the water. I would never trust Peter Hale – I'm not as stupid as McCall. Still, sooner or later he may come in handy."
"Sir, you're a genius," Mara smiled back, tucking her blond hair back behind her ears. As Mara passed the first cell out of the corner of her eye she caught sight of a small blond girl dressed in a frilly laced dress. Mara's lip quivered ever so slightly as she continued to move, eyes never breaking contact except for the second when the view was blocked by metal of the cell.
Mara jumped as the beastly-looking creature now peering back at her snarled viciously "It's a Sluagh," Luca answered before Mara could even ask. "Have you never come across one before?"
"No, it's very interesting. How...How did it change its appearance?"
"They can take the form of lost souls that are tied to a person. In your case I'd assume that's your sister, right?"
"How... How did you know that? Did you see her too?" she asked, pointing incredulously at the beast that now looked like the young doll faced girl again.
"Mara, I've known you for sixty years and the only thing that ever upsets you is your family. Still. You had centuries to get over it already. I killed my family too, and I don't have these issues. It's pathetic; I didn't think you had any humanity left. I blame Colby."
"Leave him out of it,!" Mara snarled, turning towards Luca.
The Necromancer stopped dead. "Your affection for him makes you weak. Almost… human." He looked back at her and scowled. "Look at this mess," Luca called out as Mara looked away, drawing her attention back towards him. A few feet in front of her Luca stood over a man dressed in blood covered light blue scrubs, who was lying in the doorway of the exit of the floor.
"This is your true nature." Luca stepped over the dead boy, large bite marks on its neck still dripping blood.
Mare smiled as she walked towards Luca,. "I did enjoy killing him," she said and blew a kiss at the man as she walked over him. "Why don't you release the Sluagh, I'm sure it could distract the wolves more than that so called vampire perversion I released."
"Do not release that thing, it can't be stopped or reasoned with. It would go after you as much as anyone else. Leave it to Colby for now, and then the Dread Doctors. For now I need to find me a copy of a novel called The Dread Doctors,. I'm going to need to prepare in case they don't want to do business." And with that Luca turned and walked off, leaving Mara standing over the body of her last victim. "But why do we need them?" she called after him.
Luca turned back. "Father has shared with me that the Dread Doctors will deeply affect our plans. So much, in fact, that if we can't get them to agree to work with us we'll have to take a backseat to them."
"What? You're joking, right?"
"It's not my choice, Mara, remember that. You don't think I could rip Scott McCall's heart out with my own hands? Father said watch, so we're going to watch and wait,." He turned away and walked out the side door leaving Mara to catch up.
