...
Frank took both her arms lifting his daughter up and into his chest as his wife wrapped a warm blanket around the injured girl. She winced her eyes breathing out sharply as he carried her to outside and towards the car. "D-Do we... have to?..." Gwen asked worried as Lilly opened the backseat of the car door. "Come on Gwen, we'll be in and out in no time" Frank replied placing her into the backseat before wrapping the blanket around her shoulders. "...But I hate the hospital..."She winged as he closed the door and opened the drivers door. "I know, Gwen" He sighed as he started the car looking back in the rear-view mirror to see the doctor waving to Frank in his car. "But all the doctor wants to do is get a few x-rays of you then you can we'll go home, sit down and watch a movie" Frank told her as Lilly got in the car with Max in the back allowing Gwen's head and shoulders rest on Max's lap.
They followed the doctor towards the hospital where Gwen was taken in for several x-rays including an M.R.I machine.
Gwen growled as she whimpered in her bed as they waited for the results.
Lilly took a hold of Gwen's hand trying to sooth her and her pain. "Just hold on Gwen, the doctor will get you some morphine after he's gotten the results then we'll go home and have ice-cream" Lilly kissed her hand smiling into her daughters sore, blackened eyes. Gwen stared back forcing a smile as she laid back down tugging at her blue gown as she stared down at her constricting socks.
Gwen frowned wanting to go home so badly. She stared over to her grandfather in the corner.
She gently raised her heavy head off the pillow and called over to him.
"Grandpa, Grandpa, Grandpa" She whispered hoarsely capturing her attention. He smiled getting up and walking over to her. "What's a matter, Gwen?" He asked gently. "Are you... able to ring... Kevin and Ben?" Gwen asked. Max nodded. "Of course Gwen, I'll ring them to meet at your house, okay?" He asked kissing her forehead. In an instance the doctor came in through the door holding a pile of X-Ray sheets of Gwen's ribs.
"Okay, Miss Tennyson. You have quiet a lot of injuries don't you?" The doctor walked over to her.
"So what?" Frank stood up. "She just needs a few splints and a bandages?" Frank smiled as the doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry but this will require surgery as soon as possible" In an instance a nurse came in beside him with a small bottle and a needle. Gwen's eyes lit up as the doctor removed it from her hands. Frank's eyes widened as he looked over towards his daughter.
"What's the surgery for again?" Frank asked as he crept up to his daughter and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Mr. Tennyson, your daughters ribs are practically shattered, her eardrums have bursted and she's suffered several mild concussions. If we get the surgery over and done with then she can go home. I promise" The doctor forced a smile as he flicked the tip of the needle. Gwen tried to back away on the bed but found it difficult. "Now, Miss. Tennyson you haven't had any stimulants in the past three hours?" The doctor asked as Gwen bit her lip not answering. "No, she hasn't" Max answered for her.
"Well alright then" He walked over to her as she frightened away. "Just relax Miss Tennyson. I'm just going to give you a small sedative which will make you a little woozy, okay" He tried to grab her arm but Gwen's mind began racing.
In an instance, she punched him in the mouth and sprinted for the door slipping around bends due to the socks. Her family rushed after her trying to stop her without hurting her but she was slippery.
"SECURITY" The doctor screamed in agitation and in less than a second Gwen was trapped in the middle of hallway near a small hot water machine and a table sat where people could quickly grab a tea or coffee. She noticed a large male nurse take steps towards her with his arms raised ready to tackle her if she moved. She turned to her left and noticed her family standing there along with the doctor and a nurse with a wheelchair.
"Now, Miss Tennyson, just calm down. We'll take you back to bed and make sure your safe" The doctor told her slowly and clearly but Gwen didn't want to listen. She didn't want to go back to sleep. Oh god, what if she woke up and this was all just a dream.
That she was still stuck with Hex and Charmcaster being brainwashed and tortured. Quickly, she ran her hands through her greesey hair before noticing a women next to her too in shock to move as she held a warm cup of coffee in her hands. Gwen instantly snatched it out of her hands and backed away back against the wall as the people closed on in.
"STOP, DON'T MOVE... I'LL DRINK IT, ...I SWEAR..." Gwen yelled at them her throat still dry and raspy.
The doctor instantly placed his hands up in defense. "Now Miss. Tennyson-" He tried to stop her but she bought the polystarine cup next to her lips tasting the bitterness of a blend with no sweetener.
"SOMEBODY STOP HER" She heard the doctor call out and in less than a second her body was thrown to the floor by the large male doctor. Gwen wheezed as her chest heaved in pain.
So much pain.
Her body collapsed onto the floor as her eyes sprang open. She couldn't breath. Her ears rung like wine glasses were singing. She just wanted to turn invisible and hide from the world then and there. The male nurse soon removed himself off her as she felt a familiar presence nearby her. It was her mother. She was cradling her cheek there by the side of her as she kissed her forehead hugging her afraid to let go. The doctor clicked his fingers in front of the girls eyes but everything was slow and blurry. He was yelling and snapping at people to go do this and that as Gwen just laid feeling like she was on the verge of death. She could feel dribble escaping her lips and cascading down her pale neck.
Lilly just watched in shock crying her eyes out until Gwen shoved her back with as much energy she could conjure which wasn't much. It came out in a little push before Gwen slowly staggered up. She had had it. She just wanted to go home. Her body was numb to the bone barely able to feel a thing. She could feel her mother trying to grab at her as the young redhead shruggishly walked down the halls feeling her feet stagger with each step.
She could see the blurry faces of patent's and health professionals staring at her with gasping faces afraid of her. She could feel hands on her shoulder's gently try and push her back down but Gwen wouldn't budge. She wasnt stubborn like that. With effort she made it to the front sliding doors and noticed a police officer leaning by his car and watching her with staring eyes not showing any emotion. He walked up to her pushing her with his hand on her chest. Gwen winced breathing out collapsing onto him. Not realising how much pain she was in he tried to help her stand pushing her back as Gwen's hand slipped over the hostle of the gun and removing it.
Quickly, she aimed the gun up to his waist with a slugglish movement.
He took back with his hands up. "Ssssst..." She could barely conjure a word right now all she wanted to do was see Kevin. Tell him that she was alright. Tell him that she wasn't dead. She backed up on the moist green grass as they all stepped outside.
She wanted them to leave her alone to get let her be.
Then she noticed them standing there. Her heartbroken parents staring at someone who wasn't there daughter.
Who didn't act like there daughter. Gwen was so beat up she probably didn't even look like them; like her mum. She gulped her eyes stinging with hurt as she turned back around attempting to run for it.
Kevin turned off his t-v sitting alone in the dark. He hadn't slept in three days since Gwen's funeral. Ben had kept telling him to move on but how could he move on. Gwen was his world.
Scratching his beard Kevin looked over to the door hearing a knock or maybe it was thunder. He got up touching the wall sending half his hand into cement as he approached the door. Who the hell goes round someone's house at 3am in the morning. Instantly, he slammed the door open and raised his hand ready to attack the person but stopped when he saw her.
Her! G
wen!
Kevin stared at her in amazement.
In disbelief.
"Gwen?" He whispered. She instantly wrapped her arms around him as he stood there still stunned.
"Y-You're alive" The realization washed over Kevin as he grabbed her shoulders pulling her away and touching her cheek. Gwen smiled back at him before he looked down at her noticing her shivering. He pulled her in for another hug wrapping his arms around her and pulling her over to the couch before switching the lights on. "How did you? I saw you die" He bent down next to her wrapping a nearby blanket he hadn't washed in days over her.
"It wasn't me... It was some random person... I escaped a couple of hours ago" She informed him. "Do your parents know you're okay?" He asked bringing her in for a snuggle. "Y-Yeah" She shut her eyes almost falling asleep against him if not for the loud knock at the door. "Oh, no" Gwen breathed out as was about to get up. "Whose there?" He asked noticing her worried gaze. "My parents" She breathed out. "They're making me have surgery" She gulped as Kevin got up.
"Surgery?" He gulped as the knocks came again followed by desperate shouts of her name by her parents and the doctor.
"For what?" He asked walking over to the door.
"My ribs... are broken..." She whispered grabbing her ribs the pain flooding back. Instantly, the door was kicked open and there stood Frank, a Doctor with a needle, Lilly and her frightened expression and a nurse with a wheelchair. They quickly raced in and noticed the redhead sitting there with a blanket covering her as she sat on a black leather couch surrounded by pizza boxes, dirty clothing and a television on the wall. Frank and Lilly quickly raced up to her checking to make sure she okay by brushing a few loose strands back behind her ears.
Gwen frowned as the doctor came in with the needle. "Common, Miss Tennyson. We'll get you back to the hospital and get those ribs fixed" He forced another smile as Gwen's frown deepened. He sighed as he walked over to her and took her arm again. "We'll get one of the nurses to give you a bath when we get back to the hospital" Gwen snatched her arm back as the doctor tisked.
"Not this again" He groaned. "Please, Miss. Tennyson. Just let me do my job" He sighed as Lilly gave Gwen the guilty look. She sighed extending her arm out before the doctor. The doctor sat down next to her and smiled.
"Thankyou" He gently wiped her arm down the antiseptic.
"Is that going to hurt her?" Frank asked as the doctor stopped.
"A little, yes" The doctor told him truthfully. Frank took her arms and leaned her over. "Dad!" She argued as he pointed towards the flesh of her thigh. "It'll hurt less" He told her as the doctor just shrugged and bought the needle into the flesh of her skin. Gwen groaned out loud as the needle was pulled out of her skin and the doctor threw a blanket over her. Frank rubbed her shoulder as he pulled her over holding her until she fell asleep.
The nurse rolled the wheelchair over to the family but Frank shook his hand keeping his daughter close by him as her hand grasped his shirt afraid to let go. "K-Kevin!" Gwen called over to him. Kevin hesitantly came over to Gwen and sat down next to her. "C-Can...you..ring..Bennn..." Gwen's eyes closed as her head rested on her dad's chest. "Sure thing, Gwen" He kissed her on the cheek before getting up allowing Frank to lift his daughter up into his arms and carry her out the door towards where Max was outside the R.V.
"Nuh," Gwen awoke to the sound of an arguing couple. She groaned wincing her eyes as her eyes fluttered open to see a crowd of people with smiling faces hovering over her. Mum, dad, Kevin, Ben, Aunt Saundra, Aunt Lilly, Grandpa Max. "Nuh," She tried to lift her head up but felt to stiff. "Gwen!" Ben raced up to her hugging her gently. "I'm so glad you're okay?" He told her as Saundra began hugging her crying her eyes out her masscara running. Gwen smiled awkwardly trying to hug them back but found her left arm wrapped in bandages and her right arm practically tied to the rail with several tubes including an I.V sticking out of her arm. Gwen wheezed feeling a pipe in her her nostils. She winced as she tried to lift herself up again. "Settle down, Gwen" Ben chuckled. "You've just been in surgery for a few hours" Lilly told her pushing her shoulders down. "Nuh," She breathed out as she winced her eyes again feeling uncomfortable.
"H-H-How...long w-was...I in surgery for?..." She struggled wheezing. "A few hours, Gwenny" Frank kissed her forehead. "How are you feeling?" He asked caressing her cheek.
"...A little...stiff..." She wheezed looking down at the blanket covering her ribs. She noticed out the corner of her eyes her right ankle with a cast and being held up on a pillow. She groaned out the pain and memories flooding back. "We're just glad you're back" Carl smiled at her as Max stood behind. "And alive" Ben chuckled awkwardly. Gwen smiled.
"It's nice...to be...back" She told him.
"W-When...can...I leave?" She asked looking around. They all looked to each other. "I'll go get a doctor" Frank raced out the room leaving the room dead quiet except for Gwen's breathing. In an instance the door banged open and in came the doctor. "Hello, Miss. Tennyson. How are you feeling?"
"...F-Fine..." She told him unfriendly.
"Gwen!" Lilly complained placing a hand on her shoulder. "It's quiet alright, Mrs. Tennyson" The doctor forced a smile before coming over to the end of the bed and picking up the metalic clipboard. "Your stable. That's good" He scrolled down the sheet before coming over to her. "We'll just check your injuries and if they're alright i'll sign you off myself" He brought the bar down and checked her eyes with a torch. "hmmm..." he used her thumb to pry her eyes open while moving her head.
"Ow" she whimpered.
"It's alright Miss. Tennyson" The doctor told her smiling on the inside before he moved over to the blankets removing them to her waist and untying the side of her gown. He removed the bloody bandaging as Gwen hissed looking away at the large red line with 50 metal stables in her side. "That is healing up nicely" He smiled getting a roll of bandages off the side and unravelling it & wrapping it over her side as the rest of the family watched. Gwen groaned looking away wincing her eyes closed.
"You can look back now, Miss Tennyson" The Doctor chuckled retying her gown and placing the blankets back over her. "Alrighty then, I'll get you signed off" The Doctor told her scribbling down something on her sheet before leaving the room. Frank walked over to Gwen and sat down next to her wrapping an arm around her back and hugging her and whispering her things into her ear.
"As soon as we get home you can sit down on the couch and sleep as much as you want, we'll put on a few movies get out some junkfood" He smiled at her.
She smiled back.
"Thanks" She whispered.
"Alright Miss. Tennyson" The Doctor came back in smiling.
"You're free to go"
Gwen smiled happily as she sat down on the couch still in her gown. Kevin sat down next to her bringing her in for a cuddle as Ben came over and sat opposite. Ben placed a hand on her shoulder as the parents stood over by the table chatting away as the table was set. "Kids, come and get something to eat" Saundra called out as Kevin and Ben groaned. Ben stood up moving over to the table as Kevin stayed with Gwen. "Do you need help standing?" Kevin asked. She shook her head. "I don't think I want to move just yet?" She whispered letting her boyfriend stand but he didn't. "I'll stay with you if you don't want to get up"
Gwen smiled.
"Thankyou" Gwen relaxed on his arm. Frank looked over to the two noticing the couple not moving. "Do you need help getting up, Gwenny?" He bent down next to her smiling.
"I'll be alright. I'm just going to relax here for a while" She smiled leaning on Kevin's chest. Frank looked nervous but nodded. "Okay, I'll bring you over a plate" He told her getting up and leaving. Kevin looked down at her and noticed her soft gaze as she stared at her family. "Gwen, I missed you so badly" He admitted causing Gwen to look up at him.
"I didn't sleep. I didn't eat. I didn't do anything but search for you when you disappeared" He whispered into her ear.
"Then when I saw you die. I didn't know what to do with myself. I just broke down" He continued. Gwen looked up at him with hurtful eyes. "I couldn't stop thinking of you either" She winced thinking of her encounter with Charmcaster. "I-I'm not going...anywhere" She kissed him on the lips only...only it didn't feel right. It didn't taste right. It was horrible. She parted lips her stomach churning as Kevin tried to kiss her more over and over. She pushed him off. It caught everyone's attention.
"I-I'm...sorry..." She winced her eyes looking down and away from him. "I-I-I can't..."
"It's alright Gwen," He held her thinking of the pain, torture and possible rape Gwen had encountered with Hex. He soothed her wrapped his hand on her shoulder and held her close. Frank came over with a plate of food for Kevin and Gwen filled with roast dinner. Gwen's plate was filled with more food then Kevin's.
Lilly was sure Gwen wouldn't eat the whole thing but Lilly still told her to eat it all taking in her starved form. She kissed her on her bruised cheek before leaving observing Gwen's wince as she turned away.
She knew it.
Her daughter's been raped.
