Ch. 11: No More Running
They woke late the following day, Celia's hand wrapped tightly around Casey's fingers as she gave a soft cry.
Olivia sat up, cradling a sleepy Emily.
When she Casey stirred and looked down at her, pulling herself up, the cry changed to mumbling noises.
Olivia smiled. "Aww! She just wanted Mommy's attention!"
Casey smiled, leaning over to kiss Olivia. "Morning. Please tell me you're not going in today."
Olivia checked her phone, seeing a message from Nick. 'Everyone's trying to clean up the hit mess, Liv. Stay home. I'll come grab you if we need you. - From Cragen'
"Well?" Casey asked, peering over her shoulder.
Olivia smiled. "Nope. Not yet anyway."
"Good, because I don't fancy moving today."
The detective nodded. "Well, I'm hoping I don't have to go too far," she said as Emily cooed at her. She leaned down, kissing her cheek. "Mwah! Good morning baby girl."
"Could always turn your phone off?" Casey suggested, shifting Celia in her arms.
"Yeah, I could, but it's better if I don't."
Casey sighed, looking down at Celia. "Shall we get you a bottle, huh?"
Olivia sighed too. "I'll wait for you." She understood her wife's annoyance, but what was she supposed to do? Deny help to those who needed it?
Casey nodded, taking Celia through to make a bottle, then paced the kitchen as she fed her.
Olivia sighed, laying Emily on the bed and kissing her little feet, making her giggle and almost kick her, but before she did, Olivia would grab both of them and kiss them again.
Emily giggled louder, almost squealing.
Casey stroked Celia's cheek after she'd burped her. "Sometimes I wish you could hear my voice so I could calm you down when you're upset. I'm sorry I haven't been the best parent."
Olivia picked up Emily, walking into the kitchen, hearing the last bit of Casey's sentence. "No you're not honey. It's me. I've been preoccupied. And Celia...baby, just because she can't hear your voice, that doesn't mean she can't feel vibrations from it. Try humming to her. Place her on your chest and try it."
Casey looked at Olivia for a moment before pulling Celia to her chest, humming softly.
Celia looked up at her, smiling and snuggling into her chest as she gripped her shirt, cooing softly.
The detective smiled. "See, we can communicate with her. Soft and gentle voices..."
Casey smiled. "I'm sorry for giving you a hard time about her."
Olivia walked over, sitting in a chair as she cuddled Emily close. "No, it's all right. I understand. And, theoretically, she probably responds to me more because of what's happened, but she loves you just as much too."
"I know. I've been impossible lately though. I just instinctively wanted to make Emily my priority. I shouldn't have."
"You're right. They both are a priority, though, until – when and if – we decide to go through with that operation, we may need to spend a bit more time on her."
"I didn't want Emily to think I loved her more."
Olivia nodded. "I know and that makes sense, but they both need us."
"I know that. I've always known that. Can you take her whilst I shower?"
Olivia nodded. "If you can heat this one up a bottle before you jump in. Be right back." Two minutes later, she was back with the bouncy seat as she sat in the chair again.
"Here," Casey said, handing the bottle to her, "Back soon."
Olivia smiled, taking the bottle and lowering Celia into the bouncy seat with the toys attached to the top bar. "Here we go, hungry, hm?" she said, holding the bottle to Emily's lips.
Casey turned on the shower as she pulled out her phone, sending a text to Nick. 'Can you ask Cragen not to call Liv in for a few days. Not coping.'
'Not coping with the shooting or do you want to help her cope?' Nick asked, surprised to hear from her.
'The first. Please?' Casey replied.
He sighed. 'I'll try, but then you need to help her.'
'I will, thanks.' Casey locked her phone, placing it on the counter as she stepped into the shower. In truth, it was her that wasn't coping, but if she could just keep Olivia home for a few days, she hoped she'd calm down.
Olivia smiled, kicking the toys with her foot to entertain Celia as Emily ate.
"Look at you, all in control," Casey smiled, returning to the living room wrapped in a robe.
Olivia set the empty bottle on the table. "Yeah I do. Do you want me to burp her or do you want to?"
Casey held out her arms. "Do you mind? Only you had her all night."
Olivia smiled, handing Emily to her. "Not a problem, Mommy."
Casey kissed Olivia gently. "I love you," she said sincerely, looking into Olivia's eyes.
Olivia hugged them tightly, kissing Casey's cheek. "I love you too."
For the rest of the day, Casey cuddled into Olivia's side, keeping the girls close to them as they watched a few films.
Olivia pulled the quilt from the back of the couch over them, kissing Casey's head.
"This is nice, isn't it? We never get time for this."
"Yes it is, very much. Now what should we do?"
Casey kissed her cheek. "I'll do whatever you want to do."
"You know, what about tummy time?"
"Like I said, anything you want, but first..." Casey kissed Olivia deeply.
Olivia smiled, kissing back, wrapping her arms around her.
Casey pulled back slowly. "I could kiss you all day long."
"Case, if something's bothering you, we can talk."
"What? I can't kiss you now unless something's wrong?"
Olivia shook her head. "No, I'm just reminding you," she said as she unrolled the play mats onto the floor after sliding the coffee table aside.
Casey moved herself to the floor, smiling at Emily just as Olivia's phone beeped.
The detective grabbed her phone.
Nick's name showed on the display. 'Hope you're ok. Let me know if you need anything' it read.
Thinking he was probably just concerned about yesterday, she didn't pay much mind as she replied, 'Ok I will.'
"They want you at work?" Casey asked, looking up at her.
She shook her head. "Just Nick checking on me," she said, sitting Celia on her belly and putting a soft toy in front of her, kissing her head before kissing Emily.
The next few days passed slowly, Casey really enjoying all the time just the four of them, finally managing to relax on their second morning together.
Olivia wrapped her arms around her wife as she rolled over in bed, kissing her bare shoulder. "Morning."
Casey turned in her arms. "Mmm hi."
The detective smiled, kissing her gently. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine, why sweetheart?"
"Nick called me while you were asleep. He said you asked him to ask Cragen for me to get a few days off because I "wasn't coping"," she sighed. "Baby, what happened was shocking, nerve-wracking and terrifying, but I don't think it's just me that who affected by it...is it?"
Casey looked at Olivia for a moment, then turned back away from her, curling up as her eyes filled with tears.
Olivia pulled Casey close. "Honey, don't shut me out. Please? You don't think I feel like you do? I love you. Please come here."
Casey stilled for a moment, then turned slowly. "I thought if I could keep you all here with me then I'd know you were safe. I just don't want to lose you," she managed, burying her head against Olivia's chest.
The detective held her tight, "Case, I understand. But my job requires risk, death situations. I know you're scared. It's ok. I'll stay with you and the girls until they absolutely need me. I didn't know you were this shaken because you told me not to worry, but it's ok. I'm here," she whispered, rubbing her back. "I love you."
"What if you weren't ok? What if I lost you, and I..."
"Hey, shh." Olivia moved Casey to rest on top of her, kissing her again and again, holding her tightly. "I know. I'm scared too, all right? I was terrified if he would find me and the girls, but I would protect them – and you – with my last dying breath. I'd never let you be hurt with me there."
"But I was in such a hurry to get to court that I... forgot to tell you I loved you."
"Casey, I know you love me. Every breath I take I know that because of the ring I wear and because I love you."
Casey nodded, kissing her gently. "I love you, Olivia Benson."
Olivia kissed back. "I love you too, Casey Benson."
"As long as you remember to call me Miss Novak in court, Detective."
The detective nodded. "Absolutely, Counselor."
"Speaking of court, I've got my continuance at eleven."
Olivia groaned in protest. "Is it Friday already?"
"Unfortunately. You could always come and wait in my office."
Olivia thought a moment. "Hmmm, ok. What time is it?"
Casey moved to look. "Eight."
"How long does it take you to get ready?"
"Twenty minutes, half hour."
Olivia smiled, lustful glint in her eyes. "Hmmm, would you like something to improve your concentration?"
"What do you have in mind, Detective Benson?"
"I can show you," Olivia said, kissing her breasts gently.
Casey moaned softly. "Though let's the records show, I mildly object..."
"Mildly? Why?"
"To this coercion," Casey smirked.
Olivia laid her head on Casey's chest, kissing all over, moaning. "Mmm..."
Casey ran her nails along Olivia's shoulder blade, digging in a little as she tried to keep herself quiet.
Olivia smiled, running a hand down to rub Casey's clit in slow circles.
Casey gave a loud moan, unable to resist any longer as she looked at her fingernails, noticing a small amount of blood. "Oops!"
Olivia shook her head. "Don't worry," she said, her fingers rubbing faster.
"Oh god!" Casey moaned louder, "B-but that's assault... police..."
Olivia stopped. "Oh? Is it now? I...could stop."
"Or you could punish me as you see fit."
The detective smiled, pinching the nerve bundle.
Casey released a small scream.
Olivia kissed her deeply to muffle her screams. "Mmmm, ready?"
"Yes, I'm ready for the big bad detective to punish me."
The detective smiled. "As many as I want?"
"It's your punishment."
"Yes, that's true," she mused, slipping three inside, then slowly, added a fourth. "Oh, so tight. Easy, relax..."
Casey had gasped at first before a moan escaped. She took a deep, shaky breath for a moment trying to relax.
Olivia's free hand caressed her face. "Shh. That's it. Does it feel better yet?"
Casey nodded, releasing the breath she had held.
"Take a couple more. Let your body get used to it. Reminds me of that new toy..."
"New... toy?" she asked between breaths.
"The new one we tried a few days ago. The longest and thickest yet... When you bit into my shirt."
Casey blushed. "Oh, that's toy..." she smiled, breathing out for the fourth time.
Olivia nodded, her thumb running along Casey's clit in an effort to try to get her to relax. "If it's too much, I can take one out."
Casey hissed. "No, I want to."
The detective nodded, slowly curling her fingers, kissing her deeply.
Casey moaned loudly into the kiss, running her hands down Olivia's back.
Olivia moaned, uncurling her fingers as she thrust slowly within here.
With every thrust, Casey gave a soft moan, her breathing beginning to hitch.
The detective smiled, thrusting faster, curling her fingers. "Mmm, so warm and wet. Going to come for me, baby?"
"OH... GOD..." Casey's moans became louder.
Olivia moaned, kissing her to muffle her. Taking Casey's hand, she brought it down between her legs to emphasize how much everything was affecting her, moaning loudly when Casey's fingers brushed her growing wetness.
Casey pinched Olivia's clit hard. "So... close..."
Olivia kissed her hard. "Me...too," she moaned.
"Plea... bargain... come with... me..." Casey managed, barely holding herself together.
Olivia kissed hard hard, going faster. "Mmmm, so amazing. Beautiful, stunning, sexy."
Casey looked into Olivia's eyes and her fingers slipped inside Olivia. "I... love... you..."
Olivia groaned. "I...love...you...too. Oh, God. please?"
"Please... what, detective?" Casey moaned louder, moving up slightly to take Olivia's nipple in her mouth.
"Please...don't stop!" she moaned, pulling Casey's hair.
Casey bit hard, thrusting her fingers deeper as she moaned loudly, her body beginning to shake.
Olivia kissed Casey hard on the lips, feeling Casey shake. In that instant, Olivia let Casey take full control, feeling herself beginning to shake.
Casey moved her fingers deeply again, then pressed her thigh underneath her hand to keep it in place. "OLIVIA!" she screamed as she tipped over the edge.
Olivia felt herself fall as Casey's hand was trapped in it's place, screaming for her as she fell over the edge.
Casey left her thigh where it was, pulling Olivia down into a deep kiss.
The movement rubbed against her already-sensitive bundle of nerves, letting another wave wash over her as she moaned for Casey, kissing her deeply.
At the sound of Olivia's second orgasm, Casey pulled away from the kiss to bite Olivia's neck as she lost control again.
Olivia wrapped her free arm around her, moaning into her hair.
Casey ran her tongue across her teeth at the metallic taste in her mouth, realizing she'd drawn blood when she bit Olivia's neck. "Sorry," she whispered softly into Olivia's ear.
Olivia shook her head, removing her fingers. "It's ok," she said with a smile. "I love you."
"Mmm and I love you," Casey smiled, finally dropping her thigh to release her own fingers.
Olivia rested her head in Casey's neck. "Are you feeling any better?"
"Much," Casey smiled, holding Olivia tightly, "What's the time?"
Olivia strained to see the clock. "About 9:30."
"Wow, really?! I need to get up, but I don't think I can move."
Olivia smiled, throwing the covers off of them, surprised she could move herself, and got up to turn the shower on. Walking back, shakily, Olivia offered her hand.
Casey took Olivia's hand. "How can you even stand?"
"The job," she replied with a smile. "If I have to run after being shot..."
Casey gave a nod, following Olivia quietly.
"Not that I want to leave you now, but you need to get ready and I need to check on the girls," she said, leading her into the bathroom.
Casey nodded once more, giving Olivia a small smile as she closed the bathroom door.
The detective got dressed, pulling her hair back and walked over to check on the girls.
When she'd finished in the shower, Casey dried her hair before dressing in a blue blouse and black skirt, pulling out a pair heels to match. She carefully applied her make up, then swept her hair half up, half down before joining Olivia in the living room.
Olivia had grabbed the girls, changed, dressed and was feeding both of them. Emily was in her lap, Celia propped up on pillows beside them. She smiled when Casey walked out. "Hi Mommy."
Casey, who still had a frown on her face when she entered the room, now smiled. If there was one thing that made her smile lately, even when she didn't want to, it was Emily. "Hey baby," she said, picking Emily up, holding her at arm's length, before bringing her closer. Their new game.
Olivia smiled again, holding Celia in her arms. "You ok?"
"Fine," Casey replied, repeating the action with Emily.
Olivia sighed. "Fine. I tried to help, but..." she sat on the floor, handing Celia a soft animal.
"Think about what you said before I got in the shower," Casey replied, turning back to smile at Emily as their game continued.
"You could've asked me to come with you."
"What are you talking about?"
"You could've asked me to jump in the shower with you. I wouldn't have said no. I just thought the girls might be up and that you wanted to shower alone. I mean, with me in there with you, you would've taken twice as long."
"That's not what I'm talking about. We need to get going."
"But it's your continuance. What about the girls?"
Casey pulled on her coat, shifting Emily in her arms as she did so. Turning back to Olivia as she opened, the door, before replying, "No, Olivia. About being shot!"
"But we're all ok. What are you talking about?"
"I asked how you could even stand, you replied by saying it was because of your job... if you had to run after being shot... Really sensitive, Olivia!" Casey stepped into the lift.
"I meant that I'm used to being exhausted and still working," she said. "What are we doing with the girls?"
"I thought you were having them in my office. I can take them into court if you've got somewhere you'd rather be."
Olivia shook her head, adjusting Celia in her car seat, carrying the other, with the diaper bag, over her arm. "That's just fine in your office."
Casey carefully placed Emily in her car seat, kissing her forehead as she got into the car, sighing. "Sorry. I'm just a bit..."
Olivia nodded, doing the same for Celia. "..scared for us?"
"Yes. I'm sorry."
Olivia nodded, getting in the driver's side, kissing her cheek.
Casey reached her hand over to Olivia's thigh as she drove, her usual silent apology.
Nodding again, she smiled at Casey.
