Yes, Peridot was created to essentially be Yellow Diamond's child, after being forced to kill Nepheline she had basically a breakdown, yes, (for lack of a better word).

If you're asking why Peri was so forgiving, it's because she herself didn't know what she was exactly, and she understands that Lapis didn't know the consequences of removing the visor.
