OK. So I know you guys hate me. I don't blame you. Those who have asked know why I haven't updated but some of you haven't asked so I'll tell you know. I live in London and our school system has final exams for every subject at the end of our high school, and you know how many exams I have in May/June? EIGHTEEN! (YIKES) So I've been studying SO much since the last time I updated, so I have had no time to update. Really sorry guys, but my future sort of (really does) depend on the grades I get in these exams, so I really need to focus on them.
Sorry once again, but thanks for all the reviews guys! And all the messages! I love reading and replying to them! I was so pleased to see how shocked you were! I hope you folks enjoy this chapter! There's probably only five or six chapters left of this! I'm going to finish this story and then start updating Troubled Kid again! If you guys haven't read my other story, go check it out!
I'm really sorry it's really short guys, this is as much as I can do for now. I would have waited till I had a longer chapter written but that would have been in late June sometime and I wanted to give you something since it's been such a long time since I've updated. You can let me know if you're disappointed, I won't be angry if you are!
Chapter 11
Clary – 16 years old.
Jace – 19 years old.
Clary and Jace haven't touched each other since that night. Jace is afraid of being caught and Clary feels uncomfortable. After what she heard Jocelyn say to Jace and she made him do to her made her uneasy. What kind of person is Jocelyn? Who is this person that is supposed to be her mother?
"You okay?" Jace asks her softly.
They both sit at their couch, trying to watch television peacefully. Jocelyn hadn't come back since she caught them together. That was the day before yesterday, Jocelyn has been gone all that time but Clary will still not touch him. She feels repulsed, that was ironic because it was always Jace who felt 'repulsed' when they want to touch. Clary could tell Jace feels antsy. She knows he wants to touch her but she can't. She feels sickly and sad. Maybe her time of the month was coming back around.
"Just fine." Clary mumbles.
"She's been gone for hours you know... You don't have to act like I have a contagious disease." Jace whispers.
"It's not like that," Clary sighs, "I just feel weird you know? And scared. After how she saw us together and what she did to you..."
"Clary..." He says exasperatedly. "Come here."
He pulls her closer; she thinks of resisting for a second but gives in. She snuggles into his side and he runs a hand through her soft hair, kissing her forehead.
"I'm sorry for what she did okay? But like I said before we can't let people make us feel differently about each other. I love you, alright? Do you love me?"
"Of course I love you." Clary mumbles.
"Well then don't let her change your opinion. She's gone now, don't avoid me please." He murmurs.
"Okay, I'm sorry," she chuckles.
"What's funny?" Jace raises an eyebrow at her.
"Just a few days ago I was saying the same thing - don't let her change your opinion. Just found it ironic." Clary shrugs.
"Well it's true. I don't want us to feel that way about each other." Jace says.
"Alright, I get it. When do you think she'll be coming home?" Clary asks.
"In a few days probably if it's like before." He says, dropping a kiss on her forehead.
"Love you." She whispers.
"Love you more." He whispers back.
"Do you really want this?" Clary asks, with insecurity in her eyes.
"Why wouldn't I?" Jace raises an eyebrow.
"Look at you, you're beautiful." Clary mumbles. "And I'm just me. I have no dating experience and I look like I'm twelve."
"I've seen all kinds of girls outside of this house and none of them compare to you. Not in the way you look or the way you make me feel. I want to protect you and cherish you. I want to love you for the rest of my life. I want everything with you. You're my best friend. The person I trust the most in this world. You have never hurt me. You're so innocent, I love it. You aren't corrupted by the world's evil. Like the rest of us are. I love you for it. I love you so much beautiful girl." Jace says, holding her face in his hands, while looking her straight in the eyes. "Do you understand?"
"Yes." She blushes, pecking his bottom lip.
"It's so fucking cold." Jace shivers.
"Well we had to go someplace I didn't think Jocelyn and Luke could come across us. So here we are, at Pandemonium Club. Once we get inside it'll be warm." Alec says.
"We're just going to go sit at the bar okay? No dancing, no talking to girls. I'm not wasting any time." Jace mumbles.
"Ok, ok, don't worry." Alec chuckles. "Are you scared of girls or something?"
"No. I just feel shitty that my sister is waiting for me at home while Jocelyn and Luke could walk into that house any second and she's all alone. I feel shitty that she can never leave and go to nightclubs and sneak in like she should be doing at her age. It pisses me off that all these kids take that for granted. So yeah, I'm not going to waste time in a nightclub when I could spend time with my sister. It's the least she deserves."
"Wow, you really care about her." Alec pauses. "Half-sister by the way."
"What the fuck ever and of course I care about her, she's my best friend and she's really the only person on this planet who has done nothing wrong. She's perfect. Come on let's go in." Jace grumbles.
"Alright Jace." Alec walks past the guard and they step into the club.
They head towards the bar and take a seat. Lights flash in every direction, silhouetting the moving bodies of young adults taking out their stress. Music flows through the speakers, the beat bouncing against the wall.
'So why did you call out during this shit weather?" Jace asks.
"It's the middle of summer." Alec shrugs.
"We can still have shit weather during the middle of summer, dumbass." Jace snorts.
"Whatever." Alec shrugs again.
"Can you stop doing that? It really pisses me off." Jace narrows his eyes at him.
"Whatever." He shrugs again.
Jace groans. His head pounds like crazy and the loud music isn't helping. He rubs his temples and tries to focus on one thing. Alec.
"Okay, tell me what you want now or I'm leaving." Jace threatens.
"Okay okay," Alec pauses. "I have a plan."
"What is it?" Jace asks, suddenly perking up." Please tell me it's good."
"This is how it seems. After watching Luke and Jocelyn for so long I know how they work. Every time they go out for a few days, they're either spending time with Isabelle or they are visiting their father. Yep, they are still in contact with him, they have to visit him all the time because he's ill with cancer and they want his money, so they act like the good perfect children for the inheritance."
"Oh wow. Our grandfather? I thought all our grandparents were dead, they've never visited."
"Yep. For once something that you're not half related to." Alec winks. "And she lied about that, she doesn't want any of us to think we have any family or relatives we could turn to. Isabelle thinks her grandparents are dead too. She has no idea they're alive. Funny we get the same grandparents from both our mother and father."
"Wow." He sniffs. "So what are we going to do with this information?"
"Well here's how I see it. I'm going to go home today and tell Isabelle everything and Jace…you're going to have to tell Clary everything. Then were going to go meet our lovely grandfather." Alec smiles bitterly.
"What?!" Jace pales and then looks towards the bar. "Hey, bartender, I need a drink, a shot of vodka please."
"Me too." Alec nods to the bartender.
"So we're going to say hi to dearest granddaddy?" Jace says sarcastically.
"Yes sort of. We're going to tell him who we are. Who our father is. What they've done and once that happens were free. Were totally free. We won't have to worry about Jocelyn and Luke. Once their father finds out they're screwed. He'll be so fuckin pissed. His lawyers will mess them up. He'll help us." Alec grins.
"Jesus." Jace inhales. "It can't be that fucking easy. It fucking can't. Why did it take you so long to figure that out?"
The bartender rolls their drinks down the aisle.
"Well it wasn't that fucking easy." Alec rolls his eyes and takes a shot. "I had to follow them around without them realising and find out who this man was that they were visiting. It's not like I instantly knew he was our grandfather, or that he was ill, or that there was an inheritance involved. There was a lot to figure out. I didn't even know what was going on until a while ago, you ungrateful asshole. You try doing what I did, it wasn't easy."
"Alright, alright sorry." Jace sighs, taking his own shot. "It just seems too easy."
"It sort of is." Alec chuckles. "We just have to get away a day when Jocelyn and Luke aren't there and aren't with one of us. It has to be next week sometime. It's Sunday today. We have to do this soon. Talk to Clary today, ok? I'll talk to Isabelle as well. I don't know when we'll get the chance to go so we have to make sure they know what's going on."
"I guess so. Damn this is going to be difficult." Jace sighs.
"Yeah, our lives have always been difficult though haven't they?" Alec laughs. "We'll deal with it. C'mon, let's go out there and relax." He nods towards the dance floor.
"No can do. I'm going home to Clary." Jace says adamantly.
"You sound like a married man." Alec chuckles.
Jace rolls his eyes at him. "I'm just taking care of her."
"Well I see something I like," Alec looks out towards the dance floor. "So I think I'm going to stay."
Jace looks over to see a Southeast Asian man watching Alec with amber coloured eyes. Alec was watching his back. Jace also notices the shiny pants and mega hair gel he was rocking.
"I didn't think that was your type." Jace raises an eyebrow.
"You mean him being a guy?" Alec raises his eyebrow back.
"No. I meant the sparkly pants and bright shirt." Jace grins.
"I'm not too fussed, c'mon, look at those amber eyes." Alec shook his head smirking and walked towards him.
"Clary! I'm home!" Jace yells as he enters the house.
No one answers him.
"Clarebear?" Jace shouts. "Where are you?"
He jogs up the stairs and hears the water running. He realises that Clary is in the bathroom.
"Love?" he knocks on the door.
"Jace?" Clary mumbles through the door.
"Can I come in?" Jace asks.
"Sure."
He walks into the bathroom and stops short when he sees Clary in the bath, filled with bubbles covering her entire body. Her hair is shoved in a messy bun, curly strands surrounding her face. Her pink shoulders stick out of the water, shiny from the bubbles. Her feet stick out of the tub, relaxing them on the edge of the tub.
"Wow, you look delicious." Jace grins sheepishly.
"Want to join me?" Clary winks.
"Damn straight." Jace laughs and jumps to take his shoes off.
Clary gasps as he jumps in the tub, completely clothed and gathers her in his arms onto her lap.
"Umm, so warm." Jace says as he nuzzles into her neck. "I missed you."
"I missed you too. How was seeing your friends?" Clary asks, sliding her fingers to the hem of his shirt, trying to get the heavy, soggy material off.
"It was fine." He mumbles shrugging the shirt off. "I'd rather have been with you."
"Aww, you can't constrain yourself to me, one of us has to have friends in the outside world, otherwise we'll both go mad." Clary smiles sadly.
"You'll be out of here soon." Jace vows.
"Yeah right." Clary snorts.
"Actually I am right. I have something to tell you, but I'd really like to take my pants off first because they're really wet and this is really uncomfortable." Jace laughs nervously while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Sure." Clary slowly unbuttons his pants and helps him shrug out of his pants while the bubbles move frantically around them.
Both of them jostle and giggle as they move around. They get back into a comfortable place. Clary sits on Jace's lap, resting her head on his collarbone. He wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her in close, resting his chin on her head.
"So what do you have to tell me?" Clary says after a few minutes.
"Were going somewhere tomorrow." Jace mumbles.
"Jace no we can't we'll get–"
"No Clary, we have to go, were visiting our grandfather." Jace cuts her off.
"What? Grandfather?" she pulls away from his collarbone and looks up at him. "Aren't our grandparents dead?"
"No. Not exactly." Jace shakes his head.
"Jocelyn lied to us." Clary sighs sadly. "No surprise. How did you figure it out?"
"This is where it gets complicated." Jace huffs.
"Tell me." Clary urges.
"Jocelyn and Luke are related." Jace mumbles in the stuffy bathroom.
"What?!" Clary shrieks and pulls away from Jace, backing into the end of the tub.
"Breathe Clary, breathe." Jace says calmly, giving her her distance but holds onto her hands.
"How are they related?" Clary asks desperately.
"They're brother and sister." Jace whispers.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I have to go, get out of here. It's too hot." Clary pales.
She grabs her robe from the hook, wraps it around her body and storms out of the bathroom and into her bedroom. He follows her out into her room.
"Please stop!" Jace yells. "We need to talk! This is important! There is more to this!"
"No I cannot talk about this! I feel ill. I need space. I think I'm going to pass out." Clary pants.
"We don't have much time Clary. Please." Jace begs.
"No! I can't believe you didn't tell me Jocelyn and Luke are siblings! Oh God. How long have you known this? How do you know this?!" Clary shrieks at him.
"Yes Jace. How did you figure that out?" Luke says, standing outside Clary's bedroom door.
Once again they didn't hear him come in over their loud arguing.
Or see the gun in his hand.
