Chapter 11: Love or Lust?
OMG, GOMEN NE FOR THIS CHAPTER BEING SO LATE! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!
I had a lot going on: I'm currently studying for an upcoming exam next week, I have tons of homework (the teachers never cut us slack) and I'm having a few personal issues involving family ect. So I'm sorry again! Blame reality!
Now, this chapter doesn't contain much romance or action, but it's a VERY important chapter which needed to be written.
Reviews:
Alice-chan: I'm so glad you find my Lenku moments cute! I love writing them, so lucky for you and everyone one else, I'll write lots of them! Here's your new chapter! Thanks for your review!
Shrimpy-chan: Oh, that happened to me once! It hurt like hell. My mum says I stick out like a sore thumb a lot, and it doesn't help that she can tell just where I am and when I'm lying ect. I'm sure everyone would love to see Meiko flip a table at this! Thanks for your review!
Writer-chan: I don't mind your screaming; I scream every time YOUR story updates! No, LenLen's not like that. Of course he would apologize. Least some guys have the decency to apologize… I'D LIKE THAT TO HAPPEN. Thanks for your review!
Awesome-chan: You're lucky you DON'T have siblings. I have a little brother and a big sister and they're both a pain in the backside. Yeah, Clarissa is a great mum. You may find out about the Kagamines' dad soon. I have a thing for making sexy older brothers enter the story don't I? Yup, I'M BACK! Thanks for your review!
HatsuneLenka: OMG thank you so much! You are so nice! Thanks for your review!
One last thing, remember… Miku has SALSA DANCING CLASSES with Len, Meiko, Dell and Luka for the next few weeks. This is very important for later chapters! This was inspired by the fact that I have Social Dancing coming up soon, and I wanted to be unusual XD.
Anyways, on with the chapter! Enjoy! A.V
…
Of course, by the time I got to school, I was over the moon. I hadn't told anyone about Len's surprise visit, in fear of Meiko finding out. I don't know what she would do if she found out. Murder me? I wouldn't put it past her.
So far, my day had been pretty drab. If I wrote out every single minute, you'd be bored to death. So, here is my day, in a list:
Period One- Geography: The most exciting part was watching Gakupo slam his head into a wall due to boredom. He soon regretted it afterwards, and had to go to the office for some ice. There is now a small dent in the left wall of Classroom 345. God, Gakupo has a hard head!
Period Two- Art: Totally boring. I got split up from Luka because I kept talking. The Art teacher has it in for me.
Form Time: Our form tutor gave us our timetable for Action Week. It seemed pretty dull, but Salsa Dancing caught my eye. I hope we don't have to go in boy/girl partners. Meiko had already been bragging that she and Len would be partners.
Period Three- Maths: Didn't understand any of it. Kaito kept flicking pieces of eraser at the teacher and one bit ended up in his coffee cup. Gumi laughed whenever he did it (like I said, those two are made for each other)
Period Four- English: That's actually ok. We're writing newspaper articles and I sit next to Rin so all is good!
Period Five- French: Urgh, don't even mention French. Didn't understand a word of it.
Period Six- P.E: Managed to dodge the rugby ball in P.E. However, Neru managed to score three goals, and claimed that I helped her. This wasn't strictly true, but at least most people didn't hate me now. I plan to pay Neru back, somehow. She is truly a great friend.
However, as I came out of the girl's changing rooms, I watched in horror as Len strode past. His head was hanging low, as if in embarrassment. I hid behind my bag, praying he didn't notice me. Luckily, he didn't see me. He carried on towards the gym…where the cheerleading practices were taking place.
Why the heck is Len going to cheerleading practice?! I thought to myself, in anguish. Wondering if this would count as stalking, I crept after him, getting a few odd looks from the other students in my class. Ignoring them, I leant on the door, clenching my fists as Meiko bounced over to the blond.
I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it must have been important, because the rest of the cheerleader stopped to listen.
Len's body language changed in seconds, from being hunched and embarrassed, to anxious and awkward. He rubbed his neck, as if he was pondering. Meiko smiled sexily at him, placing her hand on his shoulder. Len didn't look comfortable with that, but he didn't shake her off.
After a bit of talking (and Meiko practically laughing at everything Len said), Meiko bounded off toward her team. Much to my disgust, Len gave the rest of the cheerleaders a smile, the kind that made my heart melt. They giggled delightedly, muttering to themselves. The blond boy rolled his eyes, speeding off out of the opposite door.
A growl escaped my lips. I gasped as Meiko's ears pricked up at the sound of my voice. She smiled as she saw me lurking behind the door. Meiko skipped over, smiling the whole way.
"Oh, look, Miku stupid Hatsune. Spying on Len and me, were you?" The brunette had an evil gleam in her eye as she placed her hands on her hips, her yellow pom poms shining brightly in the gym's overhead lights.
"No! I just…um…wanted to speak to the coach! About…" Panicking, I glanced at a poster advertising rugby. "…Rugby! Yeah, I'm on the team! I just wanted to know when we had practice!"
Meiko started laughing, rather manically. I gulped nervously, "What's so funny?"
"You are!" The brunette wiped a fake tear from her eye. Once she had moved her hands from her outfit, I saw that her yellow cheerleading top stopped above her stomach. Great, I was in competition with a brunette that was popular, a cheerleader, had a totally flat stomach AND had a 'mature' chest.
Yeah, if I was Len, I wouldn't pick me either.
"OMG! You have to be the worst liar in Japan! You suck at rugby! And even if you had a HINT of talent, I'm on the rugby team! And your name ISN'T on the list, you annoying wannabe!" Meiko pouted into the glass cabinet behind me, checking her reflection in case Len came back. I rolled my eyes, sighing.
"Ok, so I'm not on the rugby team. But I wasn't stalking Len! I was simply passing through!" I convinced her, failing miserably.
"Sure, honey. Listen, for the last time, Len is mine! That blond has been mine ever since he arrived! Sure, I got an extra annoying Kagamine sister with it, but that's beside the point! So, if you think you can swan in by putting on the whole 'oh-I'm-the-new-girl' act, then you are wrong!" Meiko took a step towards me, threateningly, "So you remember that!"
Despite wanting to crawl into a hole and cry, I stood my ground. "If Len is yours, why are you two not dating?" I dared ask.
I could see how that threw her for a second. "Well, he…doesn't want to hurt your feelings! So he told me that he's going to wait until prom until he asks me out!"
"Yeah, whatever, Meiko," I didn't believe that for a second. Was she just making up excuses and lies up on the spot now?
"Don't agree? Just wait until prom!" She seemed determined and eager as she spoke.
"That's about nine months away! You really want to wait that long?" I said, sounding more confident than I actually was.
"I don't need to! Len will have asked me out long before then!" I gagged at Meiko, who gave me a cross between an evil scowl and a wicked smirk.
"Face it; he doesn't want you! Sure, you look cute, so he hangs around with you. But that was simply lust, maybe not even! Len and me…we're permanent. He just said so himself! Love is forever," Meiko sauntered back towards the cheer squad, who were staring at us both, "I'd give up now if I were you!" She added, evilly.
I stormed off, my fists clenched, and my mind racing. He didn't want me?! He said that him and Meiko were permanent?! Then why did he invite me to his house and visit me at like 2AM in the morning?!
Maybe it really was lust…
There was nothing that I could've hated more than to run into Dell. Unfortunately for me, as I ran down the road outside school, I saw a black motorbike pull alongside me. The silver haired boy, who was riding it, pulled off his helmet.
"Hatsune? What's the matter?" Dell's voice was full of worry and anger. I couldn't help but wonder about letting it all out to him. And besides, with the amount of anger registering in his ruby eyes, I didn't really have a choice.
"Oh, just Meiko being Meiko," I sniffed, holding back unwanted tears. I didn't want to start crying in front of Dell, of all people!
"What's she done now?!" Dell was getting really annoyed now.
"Just drop it Dell. I don't wanna talk about it," I refused, and started to resume my walk home, my black school shoes scuffing the pavement. I heard the engine of Dell's motorbike starting up again and it pulled alongside me once again.
"I take it it has to do with a certain blond?" He wouldn't give up.
"Dead on." I admitted. Dell sat for a minute, just looking at me, before pulling out an extra helmet out of the back seat which flipped up. He tossed it to me, and I just managed to catch it.
"What's this for?" I asked, confused.
"It stops you from hurting yourself on a motorbike, Hatsune." Dell replied, acting as if I was stupid.
"Yeah, I got that part. But WHY are you giving it to me?"
Dell sighed, turning his bike off and swinging his leg over onto the pavement. He grabbed the helmet from my grasp and helped me strap it onto my head. My pigtails flowed out from under it.
"I did say I'd give you some lessons, didn't I? And besides, I think you need an adrenaline rush to take your mind off things."
Thinking about it, I did love adrenaline, so maybe it would cheer me up? I scrambled onto the bike, just tall enough to get on without Dell helping me, which would've been embarrassing. Dell laughed, easily getting on the bike after me. With a rev of the engine, we were soon racing off down the road.
It suddenly dawned on me that I needed something to hold onto. I put my arms around Dell's waist, feeling him stiffen almost immediately. Though soon, his body relaxed and he seemed to not mind my presence and touch.
We rode around for a while, I'm not sure how long, because I soon lost track of time. I simply enjoyed the wind blowing my pigtails out behind me and the rush of air swishing past me. Sounds cliché, I know. But that was what happened.
Dell soon slowed to a stop outside my house. I was sad because that clearly meant that the ride was at an end, but I pulled my helmet off and jumped off the bike and onto the pavement. I could feel my bangs sticking up, awkwardly, but I chose to ignore it.
"Feel any better?" Dell asked, getting off the bike too. He winked at me happily, and I smiled.
"I feel great! Thanks Dell-kun, you're the best." I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him into a friendly hug. He hugged back, surprisingly, and rested his chin onto my head. I was also surprised that he hadn't mentioned that I had called him 'kun'. I pulled away, not wanting him to get the wrong idea.
"I guess I'll see you Monday?" I started to walk up to my front door, but was shocked when Dell followed me.
"Guess so. I said I'd help Neru with an Art project over the weekend, so I've got to do that. No offence to Neru-chan or anything, but she isn't very 'willing' when it comes to homework," Dell sighed, shoving his hands into the pockets of his black leather jacket he was wearing. "And no doubt I'll get Rin-chan with the whole thing too, so that'll be a blast,"
I giggled politely. "That sounds like fun," I wrapped my arms around my waist to shield me from the cold. I wanted Dell to go, but didn't have the heart to tell him so.
"Heh heh, you've never done any projects with Neru before," Dell chuckled, leaning against my front door. He quickly steadied himself when my mum opened the front door by surprise.
"Hello, Miku. You're a little late," Mum stopped when she saw Dell standing there. He had a small glare on his face, which he soon covered up. "Ah, you must be Len?"
I facepalmed mentally. Dell closed his eyes, as if restraining himself and to keep a look of disgust from crossing his face.
"My name is Dell Honne." He turned to me, "I'll see you at school Hatsune- I mean, Miku. It was nice meeting you, Mrs Hatsune."
My mum gave the silver haired boy a small wave as he turned on his heel and left, riding away on his bike. My mum grabbed me by the wrist, gently, and pulled me into the hallway, shutting the front door behind me.
"What?" I inquired, feeling annoyed.
"What do you mean 'what'? How old is he? How come he rides a motorbike? And I thought you liked Len, not him!"
"Urgh, Mum! I don't like Len! And DELL is my age. He's in my group, and is just a friend. I dunno how he managed to swing things with the motorbike," I shifted my bag onto my hip and started walking upstairs.
"Miku Hatsune! Are you dating Dell?"
I laughed aloud, "No way! Don't worry Mum. Dell isn't the romance type. There's no way anyone could ever think we were dating."
(…With Meiko…)
"This is golden Mayu-chan!" Meiko eyed up the photo on the blonde's orange phone. Of course, it wasn't literally golden. But it was perfect for the next stage of her plan.
"I don't get it… How will this help?" Iroha scratched her head, stupidly. The brunette rolled her eyes, wondering why she hung out with this loser. Meiko was way too cool for her.
"Keep up!" Mayu sighed, taking the phone out of Meiko's hand and starting to send it to her, via Bluetooth.
"I've already managed to make Miku think that Len doesn't like her. Of course, we'll need to make her BELIEVE it, not just think it. But I'll work on that. If we show this to people, Len will soon think that Miku doesn't like him either!" A smile crept onto Meiko's lips. It was almost too easy!
"Got it! Who's going to print out the photos?" Iroha asked, smiling sweetly.
"You are. Since you weren't smart enough to figure out the plan for yourself." Meiko dumped her phone into the pinkette's hands. "About one hundred copies should do!"
Laughing slightly, the brunette picked up her cheerleading kit and exited the gym, leaving her friends behind her. Of course, she was the main one in their friendship group. You needed someone cool in charge of a group like that. Someone like Iroha would never do. Or you would end up with friends like Miku and the others.
But Meiko had to admit that they were pretty tough. They were harder to crack than all her other rivals that she had encountered previously. But she was the leader of Crypton High, and she would fight until her last breath to make it stay that way!
But Miku had made a gesture which had almost instantly sealed her downfall. Wondering how Len would react, Meiko chuckled as she thought in her head about the image on her phone of Miku and Dell hugging outside Miku's house.
