Once the group had caught Gabby, and bought their lunch, they settled down at the Court to enjoy their lunch. Gabby kept trying to steal her cakes back from Hunter, of course, to no avail. The whole scene was quite cute as the investigation team laughed at their new friend's antics.
"Can I have them now?!" Gabby whined reaching for her dessert, her own meal half finished.
"No." Hunter responded simply, sliding them away at every grasp directed towards them.
Anika smiled, taking another bite of her lunch, nearly done her food. Yosuke couldn't help but laugh and Teddie joined him. Naoto had a small smile on her face, and Kanji did too. After lunch, the group continued with their investigation.
But unfortunately, Yosuke got called back to work and had to leave the group along with Teddie. Now only Naoto, Kanji, Anika, Hunter, and Gabby remained.
"You know, I think we've gone over everything we know. We should continue our little investigation once with have some more information to work off of, not just speculation and theories." Hunter said.
"Is there anyone who could help us?" Anika questioned curiously. "Maybe someone from the Shadow Operatives?"
"I haven't gotten a response yet. They must be pretty busy right now, so I don't think they'll be able to help us." Gabby responded sighing.
"Hm..." Anika thought. 'Now what...?' She wondered.
"Maybe we should just take it easy for a little bit, see if anything happens." Hunter suggested.
"We don't want to push ourselves, after all." Naoto nodded, agreeing.
"So we can go wherever in Inaba now?" Gabby asked, clearly wanting to explore the small town of Inaba.
"Sure." Anika nodded. Kanji scratched his head.
"How about we go to the hill overlooking the town, you said you wanted to see it when you came here?" Hunter suggested; Gabby nodded happily.
"Yeah! Let's go!" Gabby agreed.
"Alrighty then." Anika smiled. Naoto and Kanji followed as the group headed to the hill mentioned. As they headed there, Anika and Kanji clearly remembered the fight that kicked Anika's ass. 'Ugh, I still remember that... I'm glad Yosuke's not here...' Anika thought to herself.
"Are you okay Anika? You look a little light headed." Gabby noted, looking behind at her.
Anika blinked. "Hm? Oh, it's okay. I'm fine." She replied. Naoto and Kanji casually walked along with the group.
"Whatever you say..." Gabby said unconvinced by Anika's words. The group reached the hill a few minutes later, Gabby, as usual, ran ahead to see the hill herself. She gazed out into the open, seeing the town and the mountains behind it, though she didn't get anywhere near the fence and instead stood well away from the edge of the cliff. Anika and company watched confusedly at her odd behavior.
"What's the matter, Gabby?" Naoto inquired with confusion.
Gabby looked back cautiously, "O-oh it's nothing...nothing at all. I'm fine! It's a-a nice view isn't it?" She stammered.
"But you're not anywhere near the fence." Kanji stated. Anika blinked, watching Gabby.
"So? I can see just fine right here..." Gabby said, walking a little farther away from the edge of the cliff.
Anika scratched her head. "Are you... Afraid of heights?" She asked slowly, as to not hurt Gabby's feelings in any way.
Gabby stared back at her, wide eyed, "Ju-just a little..." she murmured, backing away even more.
"More like deathly afraid, Gabby." Hunter corrected, pushing Gabby forward towards the fence in spite of her violent protests.
"Ah..." Anika trailed off. She looked at the view. 'Actually, it is a rather high hill...' Anika thought to herself. Kanji was unsure how to respond, while Naoto was a bit perplexed.
Hunter eventually brought Gabby to the fence, grabbing her shoulders to assure Gabby that she wasn't going to fall. Gabby stared at Hunter dis-trustingly, "Are you sure you're not going to push me?"
"Of course not, it's all in your head, Gabby." Hunter said, bopping Gabby on the head for thinking that way.
"Try not to think about the height and more about the view, Gabby." Naoto suggested to her as she and the rest of them joined the two.
"Riiiiiiiiiiiight..." Gabby said, looking ahead at the town, Hunter let Gabby go positive that she was fine now. Then, after about a minute of staring Gabby abruptly turned around and walked back down the hill, Hunter sighed in amusement.
"Well, I guess we can't convince her right now." Anika said with a huff.
"There's not much we can do unless we want that other her to pop up..." Kanji grunted.
"And we'll leave it at that." Hunter said, walking back to join Gabby.
"Well, shall we head back down?" Naoto asked. The two nodded and followed Hunter back down where Gabby stood. Anika went at a slightly slower pace than she did going up.
They reached the bottom of the hill a few minutes later, Gabby looked back at Anika with a worried face, "Are you sure you're okay Anika?" she asked. Anika looked up, Gabby's voice fading and everything around her turning blurry.
"I..." Anika trailed off, her hand at her forehead. "I don't... My head hurts..."
"Are you sick? You could have told us." Naoto questioned. Anika was silent. She didn't catch what Naoto said, and instead her knees buckled and headed towards the ground.
