Chapter 9 Under Pressure
Crash gasped loudly when he pulled his head above the surface. Rain and darkness were all around him. Scanning his eyes he looked around to see if his other companions had reached the surface as well.
At the moment he looked like he was the only one. Thundered and lightening crumbled all around him; he had to get out of the water.
Crash saw a harbor nearby; he could swim there.
As he paddled, he began to worry if his companions were unable to reach the surface; he was worried they drowned and he wasn't able to do a thing about it.
He felt his heart beating wildly in his ears; as well as the strength of his paddles getting weaker. It was more than obvious, he was exhausted; if he didn't get to the harbor right away, he was going to pass out and drown.
With the last bit of strength he had left, Crash grabbed the edge of the dock and pulled himself up.
Crash laughed madly.
"I did it! I'm alive!" He cried as he lay there, exhausted.
He looked around to see if anyone else was there, but it looked like everyone had fled the storm.
"It looks like I have to look for everybody else before I have to..."
The bandicoot was interupted when he heard something behind him.
He slowly turned around to see Crunch behind him. The larger bandicoot was about 3 times his original size and completely made of water. Wa Wa stood within the center.
"ARRG GET OVER HERE YOU LITTLE ORANGE SPONGE!" The mask screamed.
Even with his transparent appearance, Crash could see the smirk on Crunch's face.
"It's time to ring you dry!" He laughed.
Crash cringed as he could almost the sound of his bones breaking.
"Well Crunch, you and Wa Wa have managed to track down my location. So what do you guys want?" He asked.
"YOU ENTER OUR DOMAIN WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION!" The mask yelled.
"I heard you the first time!" Crash shot back, annoyed.
"DON'T TALK TO ME IN THAT TONE!" The mask warned.
"YOU'RE HARMING THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE! I'LL SPEAK TO YOU IN A WAY I SEE FIT!" Crash snarled.
The mask screamed in rage.
"I'LL PUT IN YOUR PLACE!"
"Oh yeah? What if I were to do this?!" Crash attempted to spin attack Crunch; but to his surprise, he went right through him.
Crash turned around in shock.
"He's made of pure water, I can't hurt him!" He cried.
"You can't hurt me, Crash." Crunch taunted.
"That's not true; everyone has a weak point, I'll find yours!"
Crunch leaped all the way to the edge of the dock.
"If you can find it."
Crash attempted to run to the edge of the dock, but was delayed as Crunch began to send low waves of electrified water toward him. Crash was forced to jump above them, slowing him down even more. One even managed to shock his leg. Crash cried out in shock.
"I can't even hurt him, but he's doing a great job at attacking me! I have to find a way to end this..."
He was stopped when he saw a blue stream of energy ram into Crunch. The energy seemed to render him into sort of a solidified state, and was unable to move.
"What's going on!? Do something Wa Wa!" Crunch demanded.
"I CAN'T! THIS ENERGY HAS RENDERED ME POWERLESS!" The mask yelled in response.
"CRASH!" A voice came from behind.
The boy turned around to see Tomas standing behind him; his hands were glowing with the very same blue energy.
"Hurry and attack him; it will wear off any time."
Crash, baffled, didn't waste anymore time as he dashed toward the liquidified bandicoot; spinning him with all his might and knocking him to the ground.
Crunch pulled himself up and morphed into a puddle, before disappearing into the water.
Crash turned toward Tomas.
"Where did you learn that?" Crash asked.
"I'll tell you later, right now you need to finish taking down Crunch!"
"Where are the others?!" Crash demanded.
"I don't know; I was focused on getting myself above the surface."
"YOU TWO MAGGOTS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DO BETTER THAT!" Wa Wa drilled from the other side of the harbor.
Crash smirked.
"Yeah?! Well let's what you guys will do next!"
Crunch sent another wave towards them.
"Crash distract them until I can create enough energy to stun them." Tomas ordered.
The bandicoot nodded.
He took off down the dock jumping above the wave.
"Ha! I know that's your attack; avoiding you now will be a piece cake!" He laughed.
Crunch smirked before he began to charge up.
"Oh I wouldn't count on that!" He said before chunking an overcharged wave at him.
Crash screamed before he ducked; barely managing to avoid the blast.
"SHIT!" He cried.
"You ready to quit, punk?" Crunch laughed.
Crash looked at him, eyes enraged.
"I'll quit when I'm dead!" He shot back.
"Suit yourself."
The bandicoot kept sending low and high waves at the bandicoot. Although the pattern was clear, the attacks came so fast that he was barely able to react to any of them. When the bandicoot was beginning to lose energy again, Tomas had managed to charge up his energy.
"TAKE THIS!" The blonde male screamed before he sent the stream of energy at the bandicoot, stunning him.
"Damn it!" Crunch growled, unable to move.
Crash grinned before he ran up to the bandicoot, knocking him to the ground.
Crunch himself up.
"I'm not done yet, boy!" He morphed into a puddle before disappearing.
Crash looked around the dock for any sign of the bandicoot.
"Now where did you go, you little coward?" Crash demanded.
Tomas scanned his eyes as well when he felt something grab his boot.
He looked to see Crunch in puddle form grabbing his leg, attempting to pull him into the puddle.
"ARGH! LET GO OF ME!" He snarled, before blasting little balls of energy at him.
"OW! QUIT IT!" They could hear Crunch cry before slinking away.
Crash watched in shock; even little streams of energy were causing him pain.
"Who is this guy?" He thought to himself.
Crunch morphed back at the other side of the dock with a monstrous snarl on his face.
"Two can play at this game! I'll kill you both where you stand!"
"You haven't even touched me." Tomas laughed.
"That's going to change in just a moment!" Crunch began to send more streams at them.
"Crash go!" The older male ordered.
Crash nodded slightly running down the dock. The attacks came at their fast rate; leaving the bandicoot on edge as he did his best to avoid the attacks.
"This couldn't get any worse." The bandicoot thought to himself.
Crunch smirked in his direction.
"Looks like this is no problem for you..."
Crash didn't say a word.
"How about I add on!"
The larger bandicoot rammed his fists into ground sending a violent rumbling along the dock. Crash did his best to avoid falling over. But the vibrations kept knocking him down and hurting his arms or legs; it was bad enough as it was that he was completely exhausted.
From the corner of his eye, Crunch looked to see if Tomas was being effected by the vibrations. Only to see the human was maintaining his footing with ease, as his power was now completely charged.
Tomas merely smirked at him before sending the stream of energy at him. Sending him immobile.
Crash saw this and weakly ran to the bandicoot, knocking him over.
Exhausted, Crash turned to catch his breath; not realizing Crunch had recovered quicker than he realised. Using the time Crash was trying to catch his breath, Crunch slashed the boy's shoulder with his claws.
Crash cried out in shock when his body jerked away, violently.
Crunch laughed as he morphed into a puddle and disappeared.
Crash held his shoulder tightly, blood was gushing from the wound, he couldn't fight anymore.
"Tomas! You have to finish him off! I don't have enough strength!" Crash cried.
Tomas stared at the boy before he saw Crunch reappear at the other side. Wa Wa continue to remain in the center; only he was barely conscious, one more attack was all they needed.
Tomas nodded before running toward the bandicoot.
"Oh hell no! Not this time, pretty boy!" Crunch snarled before firing waves at him.
Tomas remained calm as he dodged all the attacks. Once the waves were gone, he begun to fire little balls of energy towards the bandicoot.
Little by little, Crunch began to get weaker and weaker. Crunch tried to summon another quake, but with the lack of strength from the mask, it only came as a slight rumble.
Crash continued to watch from the sidelines holding his shoulder; this was all so unreal.
Crunch continue to fire his waves, only to have Tomas continue avoiding them. Finally he fired one last ball at him; knocking the bandicoot off his feet.
Crunch returned to his normal form with numerous wounds along his body. Wa Wa was found lying on the ground, no longer moving.
"Game over, Crunch!" Tomas glared.
Crunch snarled at the human before glaring at Crash.
"Another time, pipsqueak!" He cried before teleporting away.
Tomas walked up to the water mask before taking out the second set of 5 crystals. Like the last time, the crystals began to circle the mask before disappearing into a dark light.
"2 down, 2 to go." Tomas sighed.
Crash was dumbfounded. How did this guy have so much power on his own; was there something Tomas never told him? He didn't know.
Crash started to walk over to him, with a demand of questions, when he suddenly felt himself falling over.
"Crash!" Tomas cried to him, although he sounded so faraway. Crash knew what was happening; he was losing consciousness from blood loss.
"I need a hospital..." Crash called out, weakly.
He saw Tomas running toward him when his vision faded to black...
OMG! Another cliffhanger?! Well this a pretty fun chapter to write. Poor Crash he's losing it piece by piece. Hopefully something good will happen to him soon. Hopefully... Until the next chapter, Read Review or PM. DEUCES!
