Waddup everyone! I'm extremely sorry for not updating in half a year! But here ya go! Here's a chapter :) I hope ya'll like it! :)

I don't own Ouran or its characters!

Ayame sat on her bed, headphones on, eyes glued to the notebook she was writing in. She looked at peace. She looked less angry. Actually, she looked somewhat happy. However, that happiness soon came to an end, when her door suddenly slammed open.

"Aya!"

Ayame jumped and looked up. It was her father. No surprise, it was Saturday. Ayame paused her music and took off her headphones.

"Dad." Ayame replied, sounding noticeably less enthusiastic than her father had.

"Guess what!" Ryu grinned.

Ayame sighed, "What?"

"You, Mizuki, Kyo, and I have been invited to have dinner with the Hitachiin family!" Ryu announced, "Isn't that great?"

"Hitachiin?" Ayame raised an eyebrow.

"Yes!"

"And I suppose you'll want me to dress up?" Ayame asked.

"Of course. But don't worry, you'll have me and Mizuki to help you with your clothes."

"Mizuki." Ayame repeated. Mizuki was her step-mother. While Ayame didn't have much of an issue with her, she didn't find a particularly good reason to be friendly with her. Mizuki wasn't necessarily part of her life either, other than being married to her father. So Ayame didn't see a point in getting to know her step-mother.

"Ayame, I know you aren't really fond of her, but if you give her a chance." Ryu tried to reason.

"Dad, it isn't that I'm not fond of her, I just don't really know her and I don't find a reason to try."

"What about Kyo then?"

"That's different. Kyo pushed himself into my life, and, while I don't really like that, he's here now. Mizuki didn't try at all."

"Mizuki did try, but you wouldn't even talk to her!"

"You and Mom had split so recently! How was I supposed to be okay with her?!"

Ayame realized what she had just said too late and the words were already said. She had just hinted at the pain the divorce caused her. She just mentioned the divorce as a reason for her behavior towards her dad and Mizuki.

"You know… No matter how many times you say you don't care and that it happens, the divorce did impact you…" Ryu said gently.

"Whatever…"

"Ayame… You were twelve… You didn't understand."

"I understand just fine! You thought your career was more important than us!" Ayame yelled.

"That is not true! I left your mother because she was abusive! To me and to you!"

"Then why didn't you fight for custody over me!?" Ayame asked, the pitch of her voice getting higher and higher.

"Because I couldn't!"

"If you really loved me, then you would've tried no matter what!" Ayame cried.

Ryu was speechless. Ayame was right, he should've tried no matter what. But he didn't and he guessed that that gave his daughter the right to think he didn't love her. But he did. He loved her more than anything.

Ayame's facial expression dropped and she went back to her emotionless expression she usually wore.

"When is the dinner?" Ayame asked, pretending the previous conversation hadn't happened.

"Sunday."

"Fine. I guess we should go then…" Ayame said quietly. She grabbed her bag and the two left her house.

At Ryu's mansion, Mizuki was waiting in the living room.

"Ayame! How have you been?" Mizuki came closer to her step-daughter then hugged her.

"I've been alright…" Ayame shrugged off Mizuki's arms.

"Ayame, Mizuki has some clothes she'd like you try."

"Oh great…" Ayame rolled her eyes.

"Come on! They're this way." Mizuki took Ayame's hand in hers and led her to a different room.

There was a desk in the middle, and mannequins all over. Ayame was surprised when she saw the mannequins were wearing. Instead of the girlish pink and white dresses Ayame was used to Mizuki designing, she saw black and red plaid, chains, studs, and leather.

Ayame didn't know what to say, Mizuki had designed her dream clothes. She was actually slightly impressed.

"Which do you think is the one you want to wear tomorrow?" Mizuki asked.

Ayame roamed the room, observing each and every outfit she came across. Ayame was a picky dresser, the clothes had to be comfortable yet stylish. But they also had to fit her taste of style.

She saw a few outfits she liked, but none of them screamed 'Ayame Satou'.

"Do you see one you like?" Ryu asked.

Ayame shrugged.

"None of them suit you?"

"None of them scream me." Ayame shrugged.

"Oh… Do you want me to designed something else?" Mizuki asked.

Ayame could see from the amount of clothes that Mizuki had worked very hard on all this, so she wasn't going to be completely rude and say yes. So Ayame decided to do something else.

"No… It's fine… Just… One minute…"

All the mannequins were numbered, so Ayame walked back over to the mannequins and picked the leather jacket off mannequin number one, the black pants off mannequin number six, and the shirt off of mannequin number 3. Ayame then had the basics of an outfit, pants, shirt, and a jacket.

Mizuki and Ryu watched quietly as Ayame moved from place to place, taking this and that of mannequins. Putting them up to the clothes she had chosen and seeing if they fit or not.

"She could be a designer one day, like you." Mizuki said with a smile, enjoying the sight of the teenage girl seriously working away to make the perfect outfit.

Ayame paused. She stepped back from her creation and looked it up and down.

"What's wrong?" Ryu asked.

"It's still missing something…" Ayame said quietly. She put her hand to her chin and began to think. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something was missing.

"Do you want to look in the other room to see what else there is?"

"No… Pink would ruin this…" Ayame replied. Then it hit her. "I'll bring tomorrow."

"What is it?"

"You'll see…" Ayame said quietly.

"Alright, we'll wait. Would you like to see Kyo's outfit?" Mizuki asked.

"Sure, I guess…" Ayame shrugged, "Where is Kyo, by the way."

"He's at the studio." Mizuki replied, leading the teen to a different room.

"He's coming out with a new album soon." Ryu added.

"Oh… That's cool, I guess." Ayame tried her best to seem uninterested.

"Here we are!" Mizuki opened the door and in the middle of the room was a mannequin with the clothes that Kyo would be wearing.

"Did you design it?" Ayame asked, going closer to get a better look.

"Actually, Kyo and Ryu designed it." Mizuki smiled.

Ayame nodded, "Yeah, this is definitely their style…" she said as she lifted the jacket out of the way slightly to see the shirt better. She nodded then walked back to Mizuki and her father.

"It's nice, Dad." Ayame nodded.

"Thanks, Aya." Ryu smiled.

The front door opened, then shut loudly.

"Mom? Pops?" A voice called.

"Up here, Kyo." Mizuki replied.

Kyo quickly made his way up the stairs and grinned when he saw Ayame.

"Ayame! What're you doin' here, lil sis?" Kyo ruffled Ayame's hair.

"Outfit preparations…" Ayame rolled her eyes and fixed her hair back in place.

"For the dinner?"

"Yeah."

"Can I see?"

"No."

Kyo pouted, "Please?"

"No. You'll see it tomorrow."

Kyo stuck his tongue out at Ayame then retreated behind his mother.

"Hey, can I go home now?" Ayame asked.

"No! You just got here!"

"I got here an hour ago." Ayame replied.

"Stay a little longer! Have dinner here!" Kyo and Ryu said.

"You two are so alike, it's creepy." Ayame looked from her father to her step-brother multiple times before sighing, "Fine. I'll stay."

"Yay!"

Ayame rolled her eyes.

"I have some work I need to do." Mizuki said, "You all have fun." She smiled before walking off to her office.

"What should we do?" Kyo asked.

"I have some work I need to do as well. You two do whatever you want." Ryu said and left the two teens alone.

"Well?" Ayame raised an eyebrow, "What now?"

"I dunno… Wanna go to my room?"

"Sure, whatever." Ayame followed Kyo to his room.

Kyo leaped onto his bed. Ayame stood in the doorway, looking in. The room was huge. But the inside looked ordinary compared to how it could. Instead of looking like it belonged to a rich kid, it looked pretty average except for the TV. There were posters on the walls of bands, a full sized bed, a side table, the TV with a video game console and DVD player, a CD player, a dresser, a bookshelf filled with CDs, DVDs, and books, and a closet. In the corner were two guitars, an acoustic and an electric.

"What's wrong? Come in!" Kyo laughed. Ayame nodded and walked in.

"What do you wanna do? Play video games? Watch a movie?"

Ayame shrugged.

"I have an idea." Kyo said.

Ayame raised an eyebrow. Kyo got up and took the acoustic guitar off its stand. He sat back down on the bed.

"Come here."

Ayame sat down next to him.

"Why don't you play something?" Kyo grinned and handed Ayame the guitar.

"No… I'm not that good." Ayame shook her head and tried to give the guitar back.

"Please?"

"No, really, I'll make your ears bleed."

Kyo laughed, "I highly doubt that."

The guitar was set on Ayame's lap once more and Kyo let Ayame decide what would happen.

Ayame sighed and looked at Kyo. Kyo nodded and Ayame positioned the guitar on her lap to play. She began to play 'Losing Grip' by Avril Lavigne.

Kyo's mouth dropped. He already knew what her voice sounded like, but every time he heard it, it still amazed him.

"Why should I care? Cause you weren't there when I was scared, I was so alone!" Ayame sang. You could hear the anger in her voice. Kyo wondered to himself then, had Ayame felt like that? Like she was alone without anyone that cared? Because with the emotion in her voice as she sang, it seemed like she did.

The song was coming to an end and Kyo stopped thinking and decided to listen while Ayame was still singing. One last strum of the strings, and the song was now over.

Ayame looked up from the guitar and at Kyo. Kyo grinned.

"Ayame! You have serious talent!" Kyo complimented.

"…Thanks…" Ayame set the guitar down.

"You should totally become a singer!" Kyo said.

"I don't know… In front of a lot of people? No." Ayame shook her head.

Kyo chuckled, "Think about it."

"Maybe." Ayame replied.

"Hey, wanna hear one of my new songs?" Kyo asked and picked up the guitar again.

"Sure, I guess…" Ayame shrugged. Kyo grinned then started strumming.

"This is called Just Listen." Kyo said then began singing.

Ayame listened, the song was really good. Different from his usual songs which were fast and somewhat loud. This one was slow and quiet.

"My silent screams, just listen, don't ignore me, just listen, the tears streaming down my face, just listen." Kyo sang, his voice quiet, sad, shaking. Ayame had never heard him like this. She was so used to his loud pop-rock music. She liked this.

The door opened as soon as Kyo had finished the song.

"Are you two hungry?" Mizuki asked.

"Yeah, kinda." Kyo replied.

"Come on, we're gonna eat out tonight." Mizuki said. Kyo nodded and put the guitar down. Ayame stood then she and Kyo followed Mizuki downstairs and to a limo that was waiting for them.

Ayame's phone buzzed in her pocket. Kyo looked at his sister curiously as she pulled out her cell phone. She had gotten a text. He was even more curious when he saw the slightest of smiles appear on her face.

Hi Ayame

The text said. Ayame quickly typed up a reply.

Hey wassup?

She hit send then waited for a reply. The reply came a few seconds later.

Ayame threw her bag on her bed. She was exhausted after a day with her dad and his family. Her phone buzzed in her hand and she smiled as she opened up the text. She has been texting with them all dinner. She laughed lightly as she read what was on her screen. She typed a response.

What's wrong with that?

She sent the text. They were discussing a movie that had come out phone buzzed with a reply.

I just think it's a little weird

Ayame laughed.

that's not weird! ur weird!

Her phone started buzzing less than a second later.

I gotta sleep. I have a match tomorrow

Then came another text.

I'm not weird. :P

Ayame felt herself smile.

Goodnight then. Good luck tomorrow…. and yes you are

She sent it then plugged her phone into charge before grabbing her notebook. She opened the cover and flipped to the right page. She picked up a pen and began writing.
